Nursing Student from Pima Medical Institute Wins All Expenses Paid Trip to Nursing Convention

Planning ahead has paid big dividends to Linda Hinogiante, a second-year nursing student at Pima Medical Institute, 957 S. Dobson Road in Mesa. Hinogiante is the recipient of an all expenses paid trip to Boston, Massachusetts to attend the July 2008 National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) convention.

Mesa, AZ (PRWEB) July 20, 2008

Planning ahead has paid big dividends to Linda Hinogiante, a second-year nursing student at Pima Medical Institute, 957 S. Dobson Road in Mesa. Hinogiante is the recipient of an all expenses paid trip to Boston, Massachusetts to attend the July 2008 National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) convention.

Hinogiante said her participation in the PMI Student Nurses' Association started her thinking about other professional nursing organization. She learned of one organization and started attending the meetings. Much to her surprise, she was the only nursing student in attendance. Her foresight to join the organization proved even more valuable when she learned she was the local NAHN chapter's sole recipient of the all-expenses trip.

"I found that being a part of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses was a wonderful networking opportunity," said Hinogiante. "I have become acquainted with a diverse group of nurses who range from staff nurses and nurse practitioners to university professors. Being able to talk to them about their profession has been very inspiring. And of course I'm really looking forward to attending the national convention in July."

The nursing student started her health career journey by attending PMI's Respiratory Therapy program in Tucson. When she decided to pursue her associate degree in nursing, PMI was her first choice. Hinogiante said it can be challenging to balance work, school, family and her participation in professional association commitments, but with proper planning it can be done.

Pima Medical Institute is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education School, licensed by the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education, and approved by the State Board of Nursing. Information can be obtained about the Nursing Program by calling 480-442-5998.

Low-Calorie, Sugar-Free Margarita Mix Introduced by Frontier Nutritional Research

Low-Calorie, Sugar-Free Margarita Mix Introduced by Frontier Nutritional Research

Fit-A-Rita™, the world’s first low-calorie, zero-sugar, zero-carb all-natural margarita mix hits the market -- as a result of a weight loss joke.

Austin, Texas (PRWEB) July 25, 2007

Frontier Nutritional Research announces the availability of its new low-calorie, sugar-free margarita mix, Fit-a-Rita™. Fit-a-Rita™ is the first sugar-free, instant margarita mix with added minerals, vitamins and herbal extracts designed to buffer the toxic effects of alcohol. The average margarita has over 200 calories. A Fit-a-Rita™ margarita has just six calories. No sugar. No carbs. And it contains as much anti-oxidants as two glasses of red wine.

"This may be the first alcoholic drink mix designed for the health-conscious customer,” says Jeff Sargent, product formulator for Frontier Nutritional Research.

The mix was born when Joe Vitale, a star in the hit movie The Secret, wanted a margarita but realized with 200 to 600 calories in the average one, that they wouldn’t help him lose any weight. He jokingly said he wanted a “Bodybuilder’s Margarita”.

He went to Marcus Gitterle, M. D., a product creator, and Jeff Sargent, a natural products chemist, and asked them to create a margarita mix with no sugar. “I wanted a healthy margarita,” Vitale, 53, said. “I suspected they could sweeten it with a natural herb.”

The result is Fit-a-Rita™, which hit the market today at www. fit-a-rita. com] and is already signed into Latin area distribution with an unnamed public company.

According to the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS), since 2002, U. S. imports of tequila have grown 28 percent -- an average rate of 8.6 percent per year. In 2005 alone, a total of 9.2 million 9-liter cases, and 9.8 million cases in 2006, were sold. Tequila is now the fastest growing spirits category of them all, even besting vodkas. Tequila sales represent a multi-billion dollar market and most of this tequila is consumed in the form of margaritas.

Frontier Nutritional Research designed Fit-a-Rita™ to appeal to the market segment that appreciates a tasty margarita but would rather avoid the sugar, calories and of course, the hangover. Just add one packet of low-calorie Fit-A-Rita™ to 6 ounces of water, add one shot of your favorite Tequila, and mix. “It contains as much anti-oxidants as two glasses of red wine,” says Dr. Gitterle.

Frontier will consider distributorships for established dietary supplement, food, beverage or liquor distributors within the United States. Their toll free line is 800-396-5942. The official Fit-a-Rita™ website is www. fit-a-rita. com].

Frontier has two other products: Ideal Cardio Formula™ for lowering cholesterol, and a muscle-building formula called A-Pac™. Fit-A-Rita™ is Frontier’s most popular product so far.

“Now you can truly drink to your health,” says Vitale.

MiGenetics Releases First and Only Dietary Supplements Based on Ethnic Backgrounds

MiGenetics Releases First and Only Dietary Supplements Based on Ethnic Backgrounds

MiGenetics Introduces A Series of New Nutritional Products Engineered to Address the Specific Dietary Needs for People of African, Asian, European, and Hispanic Origins

Miami, FL (PRWEB) January 21, 2011

As consumers attempt to stick to resolutions focused on improving their physical and emotional well-being in the new year, MiGenetics, the manufacturers of effective dietary, health, and weight loss supplements has introduced a new line of innovative dietary supplements specifically designed for each ethnic origin and native background.

Based on research by the World Health Organization, more and more people leave their traditional diets and incorporate foreign diets, and as a result their health greatly declines. MiGenetics has created four products: African Descent, Asian Descent, European Descent, and Hispanic Descent, which feature more than 100 all-natural whole foods, herbs, vitamins, and minerals compatible for each origin of people.

“This is the first product of its kind that is genetically designed to address the unique needs of each individual ethnic group,” said Dr. Roger Roff, CEO of VibraGene, a genetic brokerage firm. “People of the world are not the same. Consequently, each ethnic group needs the nutritional reinforcements that match their specific genetic requirements. MiGenetics assists in offering products that give your body nutritionally what it requires and helps to counteract the harmful effects of the acidic, processed, unhealthy food you are exposed to on a daily basis. In other words, MiGenetics makes the healthy foods you eat even better and it protects your body from unhealthy foods.”

When compared to other ethnic groups, African-Americans are traditionally diagnosed at higher rates in cases of high blood pressures, obesity, diabetes, cancer, and kidney disease. The African Descent supplement contains amaranth, a grain high in fiber content, three times that of wheat, making it an effective natural agent against cancer and heart disease. MiGenetics also features dozens of rare, all-natural native whole foods, ancient grains and antioxidant-rich berries of African origin.

Research shows the Asian community struggles with high cases of stomach and liver cancers. MiGenetics uses a widely known cancer-fighting agent found in brown sea weed, which has also been used by Asian healers down through the centuries as a treatment method for cough, obesity, high cholesterol, arteriosclerosis, exhaustion, asthma, hemorrhoids, boils, thyroid disorders, stomach ailments, and urinary diseases. Three parts of Brown seaweed that have shown to have major benefit are: fucoidan, modifilan & laminarin. Fucoidan demonstrates a strong anti-tumor growth properties, modifilan is used in the prevention of coronary heart disease while strengthening the immune system, and laminarin assists in preventing tumors from receiving a blood supply.

MiGenetics research shows that people of European descent suffer greatly with diseases that have been defined as lifestyle diseases: obesity and diabetes. White bean extract is the key ingredient used to fight back against these health challenges due to its powerful effect on: carbohydrate metabolism, weight reduction, and diabetes. White bean extract is a good source of cholesterol-lowering fiber and the high fiber content prevents blood sugar levels from rising too rapidly after a meal, making these beans an especially good choice for individuals with diabetes, insulin resistance or hypoglycemia.

“People of Hispanic descent have overall better health than those people Asian, European or African descent,” said Dr. Roff. “This statistic apparently is related to the people of Hispanic descent that do not typically stray from their culture's native foods. However, they suffer from the usual health threats: heart disease, diabetes, obesity, but the disease process that appears to be most devastating and affecting more Hispanics is cancer.”

MiGenetics uses a plant called graviola that has been praised for its abilities to fight cancer cells, kill viruses, bacteria and parasites, as well as to lower blood pressure, calm nerves, and prevent depression. In 1976 a plant-screening program, initiated by the National Cancer Institute, discovered that graviola leaves and stem are effective in fighting cancer cells.

The benefits of the MiGenetics dietary program, which contains the food your genes were created to absorb, are quite extensive. Each formula features more than one million natural phytonutrients that minimize aging; amaranth that contains all 18 amino acids including those that are only found in meat; three probiotics to help the digestive system extract and utilize vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients; eight essential simple sugars that boost the immune function and improve cellular energy production; 13 enzymes assist in breaking down all foods including protecting the system from processed foods before those foods become toxic to the system.

FedEx and OCI to Present Absence Management Case Study at National Disability Conference

FedEx and OCI to Present Absence Management Case Study at National Disability Conference

FedEx and long-time data integration partner OCI will co-present a detailed look at FedEx's absence management program at the 12th Annual International Conference on Absence and Disability. The session is aimed at helping large employers control the growing cost of employee absence.

Cheyenne, WY (PRWEB) June 14, 2007

FedEx and OCI are partnering to present an up-close look into the design of FedEx’s absence management program (http://www. oci. com) at the 12th Annual International Conference on Absence and Disability, July 15-18 in Boston, Mass.

The joint presentation is scheduled for 3 p. m. on Monday, July 16. Gus Lauer, FedEx managing director of disability, work/life and HCMP, and Dan Blaney, president of OCI, are scheduled to present.

The session, entitled "FedEx: Design of an Absence Management System," will review the FedEx Human Capital Management Program (HCMP) and the absence management system that OCI (http://www. oci. com) built to support the program. The session will also highlight the challenges of managing a decentralized absence management team and explore how FedEx designed its absence system to overcome those difficulties.

"Our goal is to provide a clear sense of the complexities of the HCMP program," Lauer said, "as well as an understanding of the value and utility the system provides our managers in performing their work each day."

In addition to a review of the issues FedEx faced, the session will also offer suggestions for designing an absence management system, approaches for reporting and information sharing (http://www. oci. com), and measurements of current program performance.

"OCI has been managing and analyzing FedEx’s absence data for 20 years," Blaney said. "The development of their absence management tool was the next logical evolution in our partnership, providing them with a robust system that can serve as the backbone of their broader, strategic absence initiatives."

With the costs of employee absence costing U. S. companies an estimated $300 billion per year, absenteeism threatens the heart of businesses: their ability to produce quality goods and services and to satisfy their customers.
