Consumers Race for Eyevive after Clinical Study of Dark Eye Circles

Consumers Race for Eyevive after Clinical Study of Dark Eye Circles

A revealing report that was published by the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona - regarding the causes of dark eye circles - has consumers turning to Dermestetics' best-selling eye cream: Eyevive.

Manalapan, NJ (PRWEB) May 31, 2010

The world of beauty and fashion has long struggled with a particular beautification nuisance: dark eye circles. While these annoying and often bluish and dark rings underneath the eyes can be very frustrating to deal with, there are some solutions. The Mayo Clinic (Arizona) suggests that thin skin, the loss of collagen related to the aging process, combined with common pigmentation issues and or related heredity genetics play culprit. Dermestetics' already best-selling eye cream for treating dark eye circles, Eyevive--a collagen-booster that normalizes drainage and circulation around the eyes, resuscitating the capillaries and eliminating dark eye circles--is flying off the shelves in light of these medical findings.

The Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona - a well respected medical facility that researches and treats a wide variety of illnesses and diseases - explains on their website that there are many reasons why people suffer from dark under eye circles. They not only offer a few of the underlying causes of what many people in the skincare industry refer to as 'Raccoon Eyes' (dark eye circles), but they also offer some ways to avoid them. As well as truly shedding some light as to just why dark eye circles are so common in our society.

According to their website, there are many causes of dark eye circles.

"Dark circles under eyes

Causes

By Mayo Clinic staff

If you get plenty of sleep, haven't been to a party in years and still have dark circles under your eyes, that's not unusual. Fatigue and high living aren't the main reasons for under-eye circles. What appears to be under-eye circles are sometimes just shadows cast by puffy eyelids or hollows under your eyes that develop as a normal part of aging.
Here are some of the most common causes of true under-eye circles:
Allergies Atopic dermatitis (eczema) Heredity -- dark under-eye circles can run in families Lifestyle factors, such as smoking and drinking alcohol and caffeinated sodas Nasal congestion (which dilates and darkens the veins that drain from your eyes to your nose) Pigmentation irregularities -- these are a particular concern for people of color, especially blacks and Asians Sun exposure, which prompts your body to produce more melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color Thinning skin and loss of fat and collagen -- common as you age -- which make the reddish-blue blood vessels under your eyes more obvious"

The spokesperson for Eyevive, Anne Goldstein, offers salvos to the authenticity and medical prowess that is behind the authoring of studies (such as the aforementioned) for properly informing consumers who are struggling with dark eye circles as to just to why they have them.

"As the findings from Mayo Clinic explain, there are many underlying issues that can cause those nasty and undesirable dark under eye circles," Goldstein states. "Based upon these findings, more people are harnessing the power of Eyevive because it addresses many of these issues safely and affordably--and without requiring a doctor's prescription."

Of the myriad of benefits and ways that Eyevive eye cream can effectively treat or minimize the appearance of dark eye circles - as well as many other common skin ailments that occur around the eyes - Goldstein asserts that it's all about the ingredients that they have incorporated into this revolutionary eye cream.

"Eyevive uses some pretty amazing proprietary ingredients," Goldstein explains. "Our eye cream incorporates a revolutionary and proprietary technology which normalizes drainage and circulation around the eyes, resuscitating the capillaries and eliminating dark eye circles, fine lines, crow's feet, puffy eyes, smile lines and wrinkles!"

The eye cream also is also rich with other dark eye circle fighting ingredients. Such as a signature blend of proven, age-fighting ingredients like Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7--which hydrates the skin and minimizes the appearances of wrinkles, puffy eyes, fine lines and dark eye circles.

Eyevive eye cream is lightly dabbed around the eyes one time per day, after cleansing the area first.

It shows noticeable results of the reduction of dark eye circles within the 2-6 weeks of daily usage, when used as directed.

Earth Day 2006 - Go Easy on the Environment & Enjoy Your Health: Potential Environmental Links to Disease Highlighted in New Book by Anti-Aging Physician Founders

Earth Day 2006 - Go Easy on the Environment & Enjoy Your Health: Potential Environmental Links to Disease Highlighted in New Book by Anti-Aging Physician Founders

In 2006, on 22 April, we celebrate Earth Day for the 38th time, yet today, humankind is perhaps at the most important crossroads between environmental influences and health that it has ever faced. In this Consumer Advisory, Dr. Ronald Klatz and Dr. Robert Goldman, physician co-founders of the anti-aging medical movement, offer simple, easy, helpful tips to reducing our exposure to environmental hazards in order to improve our odds of living long, healthy, happy, rewarding, productive lives.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 5, 2006

Earth Day was first celebrated in 1969 with the purpose of elevating environmental concerns to nationwide discussion. In 2006, on 22 April, we celebrate Earth Day for the 38th time, yet today, humankind is perhaps at the most important crossroads between environmental influences and health that it has ever faced. There are many everyday exposures that can unwittingly put the length and quality of our lives at risk. By minimizing or limiting your exposure to environmental hazards, you can improve the odds of living a long, healthy, happy, rewarding, productive life.

As a public service initiative, Ronald Klatz, MD, DO and Robert Goldman, MD, PhD, DO, FAASP penned the book titled "121 Ways to Live 121 Years … and More!," to educate consumers on the latest advancements in human longevity. Ronald Klatz, MD, DO, is a long-time scientific pioneer and innovator. Dr. Klatz originated the term "anti-aging" and regarded as the movement's first physician and chief champion. In an Online Extra to the "BusinessWeek" March 2006 issue, the magazine refers to Dr. Klatz as the "Guru of anti-aging" and is hailed as a "leading light in the anti-aging medical movement." Dr. Klatz is considered a futurist in the field of advanced biotechnology, with over 100 scientific patents and more than 3 dozen medical/health book titles in print. Robert Goldman, MD, PhD, DO, FAASP is a black belt in karate, Chinese weapons expert, and world champion athlete with over 20 world strength records and numerous listings in the Guinness Book of World Records. In 2006, Dr. Goldman was inducted into the National Fitness Hall of Fame. Both physicians are co-founders of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M; www. worldhealth. net), of which Dr. Klatz serves as President and Dr. Goldman as Chairman. The A4M is the world's leading non-profit organization dedicated to advancing research and clinical pursuits that enhance the quality, and extend the quantity, of the human lifespan.

"121 Ways to Live to 121 Years … And More!" offers something for everyone, no matter how old or young, that can dramatically improve how well we age. In this article, we feature book excerpts that pertain to potential environmental links to disease.

TIP 26. Say “No” to Nitrites:

Preserved and cured meats (bacon, sausage, deli meats, etc.) are the largest source of nitrites in our diet. Nitrites cause the body to form nitrosamines, which are environmental oxidants and powerful carcinogens. Scientists have established a significant association between nitrosamines and stomach cancer.

TIP 58. Ring, Ring…Radiation Calling:

Worldwide cellular connections exceed 2 billion. One in three people around the globe are wired up via mobile connections. With such broad usage, cellular phone technology is giving rise to important questions about possible long-term health consequences associated with its use. Cellular phones emit low frequency electromagnetic fields (EMFs), which have been linked to health conditions such as:

~ General malaise

~ Immune system dysfunction

~ Male sexual and reproductive issues

~ Changes in the central nervous system and cardiovascular system

~ Changes in memory, cognition, attention, and other brain functions

~ Elevations in blood pressure

~ Skin damage

~ Changes in red blood cells

Because of the immense numbers of present and projected users, some scientists and public health experts are worried that even if only a small percentage are adversely affected, that could still equate to a public health issue of epidemic proportions. Here are a few of the tips to minimize your cellular phone radiation exposure that appear in "121 Ways to Live to 121 Years … And More!":

1. Call Length and Frequency: A number of the scientific studies have shown a correlation between the length of calls and/or frequency of use, with biological changes.

*TIP* Reserve cellular phone use for short, necessary conversations. Keep incoming mobile phone as brief as possible and return your calls on a corded phone.

2. Distance: The concentration of radiation emissions is directly related to the power of the emitting device. The farther you can put yourself from the cellular phone handset, the less emissions you will receive. Radiation from all sources obeys the inverse square law. That is, the further you are from the source the less intense your exposure to the radiation. In fact, it drops off with the square of your distance from the source.

*TIP* Many cellular phones now have a “speakerphone” option, permitting a substantial distancing between the user and the handset during conversations.

3. Phone Antenna: The type of antenna that on your cellular phone may contribute to the amount of radiation it emits. Stubby antennae cannot be extended, and have been shown to be worse because they concentrate energy into the user’s brain.

*TIP* Select a phone with an extendable antenna.

4. Signal Path: The steel construction of vehicles and buildings creates an electrical shielding effect (“Faraday cage”). As a result, using a cellular phone inside an enclosed vehicle or building causes the phone to increase the power output it needs to establish a connection, receive signals, and transmit signals, all of which causes increased radiation emissions. A presentation by the House of Commons (United Kingdom) Science and Technology System reported that using a cellular phone inside an enclosed vehicle can cause radiation levels to rise by 10 times.

*TIP* If using the cellular phone inside a vehicle, open the window or door (if not in motion). This will improve the path for the cellular phone signals and possibly reduce the phone’s need to increase its power level.

5. Phone Mode: The highest cellular phone emissions occur when the phone is establishing a connection with a base station. When using the phone in a mobile setting, the phone is constantly re-establishing its base station connection. The emissions in the mobile setting are further compounded by signal path issues (see preceding tip).

*TIP* When inside a vehicle, avoid keeping the cellular phone handset turned on unless you are expecting an incoming call, or making a call.

TIP 91. Lower the Lead:

A lifetime of low-level exposure to lead in the environment may contribute to mental decline as we age, reported researchers at Harvard School of Public Health in 2005. Tracking 466 men averaging 67 years of age, the team found that the higher the men’s level of lead present in the kneecap, a bone marker of cumulative lead exposure, the worse they scored in tests of memory, attention, language, and other mental functions. A separate study by researchers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital found that accumulated lead exposure increases the risk of cataracts, a leading cause of age-related blindness. The team tracked 642 men aged 60 and older for five years, finding that those who developed cataracts had increased levels of lead in their bones.

Older people, who are prone to osteoporosis, are particularly vulnerable to the damaging effects of lead because the toxin lodges in bone poses and can be released over a long period of time into the bloodstream, allowing it to damage body tissue. A new study by University of Rochester (New York) Medical Center commencing later this year seeks to understand the role that lead, which is commonly stored in the human skeleton in youth, triggers the early onset of osteoporosis in those exposed to high levels of lead as a child.

Lead is no longer present in gasoline and paints available in the US, but leaded products may be available in other nations, putting those residents at-risk. Drinking water may also be a possible source of lead, as the toxin can be introduced via older plumbing.

TIP 94. Breathe Easy:

People spend about 90% of their time indoors. The US Environmental Protection Agency reports that the air within homes and other buildings can be seriously polluted than the outdoor air in even the largest and most industrialized cities. Cut down on indoor triggers of allergies and asthma by following these simple tips:

~ Remove pets from the home and thoroughly clean to eliminate their dander.

~ Opt for leather furniture rather than upholstered pieces, since leather is an impervious material that is resistant to breeding dust mites.

~ Eliminate carpet and drapes.

~ Dust both vertical and horizontal surfaces weekly.

~ Keep indoor humidity below 50% year round.

~ Open windows for an hour each day during dry seasons to improve ventilation.

~ Use a HEPA air filter in the bedroom

~ Clean mold off shower curtains, bathroom and basement walls and other surfaces with a solution of bleach, detergent and water.

~ Use a dehumidifier if your basement is damp or musty.

~ Never allow smoking in the house.

TIP 105. Not So Fine:

Fine particles, that is particulate matter in the air measuring less than 2.5 microns in diameter, can cause serious health problems. According to the American Lung Association, “tens of thousands of premature deaths each year are attributed to fine particle air pollution,” microscopic substances such as acid aerosols, organic chemicals, metals, and carbon soot.

Long-term studies have repeatedly shown that people living in areas with high fine particle concentration may have their lives shortened by 1 to 2 years on average (as compared to those living in cleaner locations).

To limit your exposure to fine particle air pollution:

~ Stay in an indoor environment where the air is filtered or air-conditioned. You can build an inexpensive air purifier by taping a micropore HEPA air conditioner filter over a large box fan.

~ Do not exercise outdoors when particulate levels are high. Never exercise near high-traffic areas.

~ Drink plenty of fluid: One 8-ounce (236-milliliter) glass of distilled water, with a pinch of sea salt (for electrolytes), every 1 to 2 hours that you are awake. You may need to drink more when you are physically active.

~ Take a cool shower or bath: Removes superficial particulate matter from your skin.

In the United States, the Air Quality Index (AQI) is the standard system that state and local air pollution contro programs use to notify the public about levels of air pollution. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) posts the daily AQI at www. epa. gov/airnow (http://www. epa. gov/airnow).

TIP 114. Green Groceries

The United Nations estimates that at least four million people worldwide have Parkinson’s Disease (PD), a type of motor system disorder that is marked by tremor, rigidity, slowness of movement, and postural instability.

Environmental exposures increase a person’s risk of developing PD. Even when genes are a factor in the disease, as with many familial cases, exposure to toxins or other environmental factors may influence when symptoms of the disease appear and/or how the disease progresses. Pesticides and fungicides produce free radicals that cause cellular oxidative stress, one of the main causes of degeneration of brain cells. In a 2005 study by University of Rochester (USA) researchers, pesticides and fungicides were found to remain on produce for more than three weeks, and persisted even after washing.

Whenever possible, purchase locally grown fruits and vegetables and encourage your grocer to provide produce that is free of pesticides and fungicides.

In "121 Ways to Live 121 Years … and More!" authors Ronald Klatz, MD, DO, and Robert Goldman, MD, PhD, DO, FAASP, share an exclusive collection of life improving tips that inspires readers to live the healthy, productive, robust anti-aging lifestyle. These physicians and anti-aging medical leaders position them as eminently qualified to educate consumers on improving how well we age. Members of the working press may submit a request to receive a FREE COPY of 121 Ways to Live 121 Years … and More! by completing the online Contact Form at www. a4minfo. net/121ways (http://www. a4minfo. net/121ways).

As Dr. Klatz observes: "It is estimated that medical and scientific knowledge doubles every 3.5 years or less." Adds Dr. Goldman: "Become educated, and stay atop of the newest breakthroughs, and you too can live a long and healthy life." As the Greek philosopher Diogenes (c 412 BC - c 323 BC) remarked, “The only good is knowledge, and the only evil ignorance.” Empower yourself with knowledge to lower your environmental risks for disease, because EVERY DAY should be an Earth Day.

The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, Inc. Voting Begins for maurices “Small Town Sound” Nationwide Band Search -- Fans Can Help Select the Top 50 Female-Fronted Bands

More than 500 bands have entered maurices "Small Town Sound" contest. Voting is now open. Music fans can visit maurices. com and click on Small Town Sound to listen to the amazing groups--all aiming to be discovered as the nation's next big female-fronted band.

Duluth, MN (PRWEB) October 29, 2010

maurices, the leading small town specialty store and fashion authority, today announced that voting has opened for its nationwide “Small Town Sound” band search in partnership with PlayNetworkand Sonicbids. The “Small Town Sound” program was created as an extension of last year’s “Small Town Charm” campaign, a cross-country photo shoot which garnered immense support from local communities. The goal of Small Town Sound is not only to discover the hottest up-and-coming band in the country, but to continue building strong connections within maurices communities.

From now through November 15, fans can visit http://www. maurices. com and click on “Small Town Sound” to cast their votes. The site features band profiles and audio tracks, and the first round of voting by fans will narrow the field to the top 50 musical ensembles.

More than 525 eligible female-fronted bands have entered the contest in hopes of becoming the next hot musical act in the country. From these 50 bands, a group of panelists including The Bangles, Chrissie Hynde and indie rock group Sick of Sarah will narrow it to 10 finalists who will then have two weeks to create an original song based on the “Small Town Sound” theme. On December 1, voting will reopen on the site and consumers will vote a final time on the best original song to determine the grand prizewinner and the two runners up.

“We’re blown away by the number of female-fronted band submissions received for ‘Small Town Sound,’” said Lisa Bartlett, maurices Associate Vice President. “We were looking for a way to connect with our small town communities and inspire women to take a chance on their dreams. The enthusiasm from artists has been fantastic and now the fans get to vote and support their hometown favorites.”

The grand prize-winning band will perform live at their local maurices and receive a trip to Los Angeles to shoot a music video and record their winning song at the PlayNetwork production studio. They’ll also receive gifts from maurices and Daisy Rock Guitars as well as the opportunity to perform at a major national music festival this spring in a showcase with The Bangles and Sick of Sarah. Visit maurices. com for more information.

All fans who vote will receive a maurices coupon and will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of 13 maurices shopping sprees valued between $100 and $1,000. Winners will be drawn and notified on January 5, 2011.

Renowned Peak Oil Expert Richard Heinberg Is Speaking In Grass Valley

Renowned Peak Oil Expert Richard Heinberg Is Speaking In Grass Valley

Peak Oil: How It Will Change Your Life. Cheap, abundant oil is now a thing of the past. The world is entering an era of shrinking energy resources and heightened competition for remaining supplies. How can ordinary households, local government and businesses respond to this unprecedented challenge to soften its impact on our lives?

Grass Valley, CA (PRWEB) November 4, 2005

Alliance for a Post-Petroleum Local Economy (APPLE of Nevada County) is sponsoring Richard Heinberg's timely presentation on the repercussions of the rising oil costs, what "Peak Oil" means, and how local communities can prepare. Come Tuesday, November 15, 2005, to The Center for the Arts in Grass Valley. Doors open at 6pm, the presentation begins at 7pm. Admission is $15 and tickets are available at Briarpatch, Bookseller, Yabobo, The Love Shack Records, and in Auburn at Cherry Records, as well as at the door.

Richard Heinberg, widely regarded as America's foremost peak oil educator, will discuss the most recent evidence regarding the timing of the global oil production peak, its likely consequences, and what can be done at both the international and local levels. He is the author of The Party's Over: Oil, War and the Fate of Industrial Societies (2003), and Powerdown: Options and Actions for a Postcarbon World (2005).

In the wake of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, communities across America are taking a long, hard look at how to prepare for crises of any kind. Peak Oil presents a very long emergency with far-reaching domino effects, and Heinberg is a world-renowned authority on this topic. The author will be signing books immediately following the presentation.

APPLE of Nevada County is an outgrowth of The Town Hall Conference last spring and will have information tables on how to get involved. The APPLE Workgroups are focused on energy, transportation, food and water, health and preparedness, and outreach/education.

“Emotional Acupressure” Technique May Be Best Cancer Support Therapy

“Emotional Acupressure” Technique May Be Best Cancer Support Therapy

A simple acupressure tapping technique, EFT, helps reduce or eliminate the side effects of cancer therapy, including pain, fear, and anxiety. Some physicians believe it helps prevent cancer recurrences by strengthening immunity.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 6, 2006

Even when it has a positive outcome, cancer disrupts lives. Its treatments are famous for their expense and adverse side effects, and a sense of crisis accompanies the diagnosis, with bewildered patients and family making immediate decisions about surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. Remission is often temporary, for cancer is famous for spreading throughout the body. No wonder the words “you have cancer” are the most feared in American medicine.

But an estimated 9 million Americans are cancer survivors, and for them cancer is more than a statistic. It’s a personal experience that shapes behavior, motivating many to stop smoking, lose weight, get more exercise, or improve their diets. Now cancer patients in all stages of treatment are using a simple do-it-yourself acupressure tapping technique called EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) to help alleviate pain and other side effects and to reduce or eliminate fear and anxiety. EFT is fully described in a free manual that can be downloaded from

Http://www. emofree. com/downloadeftmanual. asp? ref=prwcancersupportcj (http://www. emofree. com/downloadeftmanual. asp? ref=prwcancersupportcj)

EFT’s positive effects on cancer patients are well documented by practitioners around the world, who report that its combination of gentle fingertip tapping and focused thought help eliminate nausea and other chemotherapy side effects, reduce or eliminate pain, and greatly improve the patient’s state of mind by reducing fear, anxiety, and confusion.

“It’s no exaggeration,” says Belgian physician Tania De Winne, “to say that EFT can make painkillers and muscle relaxants obsolete, and that it is more effective than anti-anxiety medications, without any of their side effects or expense.”

In addition, says Dr. De Winne, EFT strengthens the entire immune system. “While I have no proof that EFT prevents cancer,” she says, “I’m convinced that it does just that. Negative thoughts are a major cause of not just cancer but all illnesses, and since EFT quickly eliminates the energy blocks that contribute to negative thoughts and emotions, I believe cancer and most other diseases can be prevented by using EFT on a daily basis. “

EFT is a new procedure, but already over 300,000 – including thousands of health care practitioners – have downloaded its free manual from

Http://www. emofree. com/downloadeftmanual. asp? ref=prwcancersupportcj (http://www. emofree. com/downloadeftmanual. asp? ref=prwcancersupportcj)
And an additional 10,000 download it every month. The manual is available in nine languages. EFT practitioners around the world, especially in the U. S., Canada, Europe, Japan, and Australia, teach EFT classes and work with clients.

Improve Your Sleep and Decrease Your Stress

Improve Your Sleep and Decrease Your Stress

Do you get drowsy during the day? Are you less alert than youÂ’d like to be? For many, the switch to Daylight Savings Time brings sleeplessness as our bodies adjust to longer days. There are a number of simple things you can do to help yourself get a better nightÂ’s sleep.

Pender Island, BC (PRWEB) May 17, 2005

Results from a past National Sleep Foundation poll indicate that inadequate sleep may lead to many of todayÂ’s health & societal problems, such as anger, stress and obesity. Poll results show that while many Americans enjoy the benefits of sufficient sleep, as many as 47 million adults may be putting themselves at risk for injury, health and behavior problems because they aren't meeting their minimum sleep need in order to be fully alert the next day. People in this army of the walking tired are more likely to sit and seethe in traffic jams, quarrel with other people, or overeat, according to the findings.*

How can you improve your quality and length of sleep? Here are some suggestions of things you can do just before bedtime to help you get a good nightÂ’s rest:

Take a 20 minute walk in a quiet area Soak in the bath Meditate or do some light stretching while breathing slowly and deeply Read rather than watch TV, which can over stimulate the senses and make falling sleep difficult Open a window slightly to improve the air circulation and prevent the room from getting stuffy As you lie in bed, empty your mind – don’t allow yourself to think about tomorrow’s list of tasks

One more tip: The most restful sleep takes place in complete darkness. Close the curtains or blinds to prevent the early morning light from waking you before your body is ready. If that still isnÂ’t dark enough, consider investing in a good quality sleep mask to block the light completely.

A great example can be found at Props For Life (www. propsforlife. com). Their silk eye masks combine a unique, comfort design with the gentle weight of flax and lavender (also available unscented) to help you fall asleep faster. According to owner/designer Theresa Carle-Sanders, sleep masks are also popular with business travelers and shift workers, whose schedules often make it difficult to fall asleep without help.

Leading Drug Rehab Referral Database Now Offers Support for Patients with Eating Disorders

Leading Drug Rehab Referral Database Now Offers Support for Patients with Eating Disorders

RecoveryConnection. org, a leading drug rehabilitation referral database now offers assistance for patients with binge eating, anorexia, bulimia, and other eating disorders. An eating disorder is a serious psychiatric condition and it is recommended that eating disorders be treated as such.

Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) August 14, 2007

Alcohol detox and drug rehabilitation referral database, recoveryconnection. org, now offers assistance for patients suffering from eating disorders (http://recoveryconnection. org/addiction/eating_disorders. php), including: anorexia, bulimia, compulsive eating, and more. This referral database is free and allows patients to search for local eating disorders treatment centers throughout the United States anonymously.

Previously only catering to those seeking treatment for drug addiction or alcohol detox, the referral database has been upgraded to include the latest information for those seeking treatment for anorexia, bulimia, compulsive/binge eating, and other eating-related disorders.

An eating disorder (http://recoveryconnection. org/addiction/eating_disorders. php) is a serious psychiatric condition and it is recommended that eating disorders be treated as such. If left untreated, anorexia, bulimia, binge eating or other disorders can lead to the deterioration of one's life and even death.

Eating disorders (http://recoveryconnection. org/addiction/eating_disorders. php) can not be defined by how much someone weighs or what they eat, the quality of their thinking as it has to do with food and weight. Generally, they fall into three categories: anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge or compulsive eating. Despite the differences between these three disorders, there are certain things that people with disorders tend to focus on food, weight, and body image.

Desiring a specific weight isn't an unhealthy goal, but obsessing over an unrealistic weight for your body type can be. Weight issues, such as focusing too hard on trying to lose or gain the exact amount can be a warning sign of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, or compulsive eating. Parents should be aware of their children's eating habits, and watch for any symptoms of anorexia, bulimia, or binge eating, especially when their children start getting concerned with their own body image, which typically begins at early adolescence. Eating disorders in children (http://recoveryconnection. org/addiction/eating_disorders. php) can be very dangerous and without proper treatment it can grow into a life-long issue, eventually leading to malnutrition, obesity, and it can also result in death.

Having a distorted body image can lead to weight issues, substance abuse, such as the abuse of diet pills, or other disorders. Men don't typically think they can be affected by eating disorders, but whether you're trying to fit into that size 0 or you're trying to bulk up, it is important to identify your body type and set realistic goals accordingly. Eating disorders in men are becoming increasingly common.

Regardless of the nature of the disorder, if you or a loved one is symptomatic, it is recommended to seek professional treatment as soon as possible. Finding a safe, reliable, comfortable center with a quality eating disorder treatment program can be difficult, so a leading drug rehabilitation referral database has begun including eating disorder referrals to their system. Quality eating disorder recovery (http://recoveryconnection. org/addiction/eating_disorders. php) programs generally consist of a support group, like an eating disorders anonymous program,.

For those who are insecure or unsure about their disorder and are simply looking for more information, the recoveryconnection. org database has informative links and allows users to contact experienced medical professionals who deal with patients these eating disorders (http://recoveryconnection. org/addiction/eating_disorders. php) frequently.

Dispute Credit Report Errors To Protect Credit Rating With Bills. com's 5 Steps

Dispute Credit Report Errors To Protect Credit Rating With Bills. com's 5 Steps

Simple steps eliminate debt mistakes on credit report

San Mateo, Calif. (Vocus) June 25, 2009

A healthy credit score makes a big difference to individuals' interest rates, monthly payments, debt (http://www. bills. com/credit-card-debt-help-article/) profile and job prospects, and Ethan Ewing, president of free online consumer portal Bills. com, has compiled five steps for consumers who need to dispute an erroneous record on their credit report.

"Not only does a person's credit score affect the interest rate he or she pays on a mortgage or auto loan, but credit reports also might be viewed by prospective landlords, employers and insurers," explained Ewing. "The credit report often is the first indicator that identity has been compromised by fraud or theft. It is important to monitor your credit report at least yearly to be certain it reports accurate information about your use of credit."

To monitor credit, Ewing suggested every American take advantage of the right to receive a free copy of his or her credit report each year by visiting annualcreditreport. com (http://www. annualcreditreport. com) or calling 877-322-8228. Additionally, he suggested guarding against identity theft by shredding all documents that contain personal information.

"Shred all bank and other account statements, and never give personal information to those who solicit it by phone or e-mail," he said. "Consider closing unused credit card accounts to avoid any fraud. Note, however, that closing a long-standing credit card account could negatively impact your credit score. Instead, consider putting the card in a safe place if you are not using it."

Individuals can follow these five steps to dispute an error on a credit report:

1. The federal Fair Credit Reporting Act requires that credit bureaus provide a procedure for consumers to dispute inaccurate listings on their credit reports. Follow the guidelines provided by each of the three credit reporting agencies on their Web sites. The easiest way to file an effective dispute letter is online. If a consumer disputes an item with one of the three major agencies (Equifax, Experian or TransUnion), the bureau will notify the creditor that the item has been disputed. The creditor then has 30 days in which to respond to that dispute. The Federal Trade Commission also offers a free guide to disputing credit report errors (http://www. ftc. gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre21.shtm).

2. If the creditor provides substantial evidence that the item is valid, then the listing will remain on the report. If the creditor cannot substantiate the item, then the credit bureau is required to remove it.

3. If the creditor does not respond to the credit bureau within 30 days, then the credit bureau is required to remove that listing from the consumer’s credit file (though this period can be extended by 15 days under certain circumstances). However, even after an item has been removed, if the credit bureau receives information from the creditor substantiating the listing, the credit bureau can replace the item on the consumer’s credit report.

4. If a credit reporting agency refuses to remove a listing that is truly invalid, even after the consumer has provided substantial evidence, the consumer can file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and with his or her state’s Attorney General’s office. Legal action also is an option; consumers would need to discuss this course of action with an attorney.

5. Occasionally, a debt will reappear even after a consumer has successfully disputed it and had it removed. This may happen if a debt is sent to a collection agency that begins reporting the item to the bureaus again. In that case, the consumer must dispute the item all over again.

"The bottom line is that consumer credit reports include whatever information creditors or collectors report to the credit agencies. Unfortunately, that sometimes includes incorrect information. Therefore, monitoring your credit is your responsibility," Ewing said. "Take that responsibility seriously, and you also take charge of protecting a valuable, intangible asset -- your credit rating."

Successful Treatment of Plantar Fasciitis Using the ONDAMED® Biofeedback System

Successful Treatment of Plantar Fasciitis Using the ONDAMED® Biofeedback System

Ondamed Inc. announces the addition of Dr. Shari Lieberman to serve as the head of their research team.

New Windsor, NY (PRWEB) November 8, 2007

Ondamed Inc. announces the addition of Dr. Shari Lieberman to serve as the head of their research team. One of Dr. Lieberman's responsibilities is to document case studies for Ondamed Inc., including alleviation of plantar fasciitis using ONDAMED® Biofeedback technology. Dr. Lieberman will facilitate studies examining the effects of ONDAMED® on pain, sports medicine injuries, and other challenging conditions using the ONDAMED® Biofeedback technology.

Dr. Lieberman holds a Master's degree in Nutrition, Food Science, and Dietetics from New York University and a Ph. D. in Clinical Nutrition and Exercise Physiology from the Union Institute. She is a well-known clinician, researcher and author, appearing on numerous radio and television programs as an expert in the field of nutrition; She is the recipient of the National Nutritional Foods Association 2003 Clinician of the Year Award and is the immediate past President of the American Association for Health Freedom. Dr. Lieberman is the Founding Dean of New York Chiropractic College's Master of Science Program in Applied Clinical Nutrition.

Dr. Lieberman has documented numerous case studies for Ondamed Inc., compiling evidence of biofeedback in the alleviation of various conditions, including plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of heal pain in adults that can result in severe pain and decreased mobility. It is commonly treated with a combination of steroids, anti-inflammatory drugs, and long-term physical therapy which appears to yield only temporary relief. Recent case studies documented with ONDAMED® demonstrate the rapid and long lasting improvement clients have seen after a small number of treatments.

The first case documented involved a 57-year-old female who had been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in January of 2007. Numerous medical consultations led the patient through a series of treatment approaches, including drug therapy, ultrasound therapy, and dietary and lifestyle changes. Although minor and temporary improvements were achieved, the patient experienced severe side effects from the anti-inflammatory drugs that were administered and found that none of the treatments relieved the pain for more than short periods of time. She received her first ONDAMED® session in February of 2007, undergoing one session per week for three weeks. The ONDAMED® technology is based on the principles of biophysics, using a broad range of pulsed electromagnetic frequencies used to produce sound, causing a change in the patient's pulse at certain frequencies, and using this biofeedback information about the patient's response to provide the identified frequencies in a biofeedback session. After only one ONDAMED® session, she noticed immediate improvements in both her pain and pain-related depression. After receiving a total of four more sessions over the next ten days, the patient saw tremendous improvements in mobility and continued reductions in pain and was able to walk normally for the first time since developing plantar fasciitis. She is treated twice a week and has resumed her normal activities. With 2 ONDAMED® sessions per week, she is currently able to lead a normal life.

Similar success was achieved by an extremely overweight 55-year-old male patient who had also failed to achieve any long lasting pain management in his plantar fasciitis through three weeks of treatment with the drug, Diclofenac. The patient, who was unable to put full weight on his left foot decided to try ONDAMED® prior to receiving a steroid injection that was to be his last resort. After just one session he experienced significant pain relief. Two weeks later he experienced a return of mild pain and received another treatment followed by 2 additional treatments. He has not experienced any return of the pain for more than 7 months. He is able to walk normally and resume his normal activities.

The New York-based company is excited to report the results of these case studies in the successful alleviation of plantar fasciitis pain. Dr. Lieberman is documenting a growing number of patients experiencing significant relief using ONDAMED® to improve a wide range of health issues. It is important to continue accumulating experiences to guide clinical research and new uses.

ONDAMED® is registered with the FDA as a Biofeedback device. It has also been approved by the AAABEM Institutional Review Board for testing as a secondary treatment device for various disorders. The device has been used by hundreds of satisfied practitioners worldwide for the last 15 years with significant results in thousands of patients.

For more information on the ONDAMED® Biofeedback System visit www. ondamed. net].

Hauppauge (PRWEB) November 29, 2010

ZyDoc, a technology leader in medical knowledge management and transcription since 1993, has announced the release of its new MediSapien NLP Structured Reporting Module, the latest module of the company's flagship ZyDoc Medical Knowledge Management Suite, at RSNA 2010. The MediSapien NLP Structured Reporting Module facilitates the capture, conversion, storage, and sharing of data in conjunction with RIS/PACS that require structured terminology for meaningful use, reporting, interoperability and health care analytics. MediSapien will be demonstrated by ZyDoc at the RSNA 96th Scientific and Annual Meeting, McCormick Place, Chicago, November 28-December 3, Booth 9526. A press conference announcing the official launch of the product will be held by ZyDoc at RSNA on Monday, November 29, 3:00 - 3:30pm.

MediSapien Benefits
MediSapien allows radiologists to continue using dictation as their preferred method of efficient data capture to generate rich narrative reports with no change in work habits. It also enables them to achieve important eligibility requirements for meaningful use incentives with structured terminology reporting. Simultaneously, the innovative MediSapien NLP technology transparently benefits imaging centers, hospitals, and their technology vendors by improving workflow efficiency, providing billing and coding data with RAC traceability, while facilitating interoperability of industry standard reports optimized for health care analytics.

Structured Terminologies
MediSapien NLPcaptures and converts unstructured text from all current industry-standard data sources to required medical terminologies for multi-function structured data usage. It utilizes natural language processing and various supplemental patent-pending technical steps to convert unstructured text to SNOMED-CT®, ICD-9, LOINC®, RxNorm, and other structured medical terminologies.

Data Sources
Using standardized export protocols, data sources of unstructured text include dictation, paper, electronic text, or DICOM, HIE and CDA unstructured documents can be converted into structured medical terminologies. The associated services allow immediate data extraction from unstructured text produced from new patient encounters, or from backend conversion of previously stored legacy documentation or older RIS (Radiology Information Systems) and PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications Systems), for insertion of text and structured data into new systems. Designed as a modular component application that works in conjunction with RIS and PACS, MediSapien can be delivered by either a HIPAA-compliant software-as-a-service (SaaS) model or on-site installation.

Structured Data Usage
MediSapien structured data is available online via MediSapien's browser independent web interface. The medical terminologies and reports are interoperable for multi-function structured data delivery to a data repository housed by the client, the client's technology provider, or MediSapien usage. Typical uses include: data insertion into RIS or PACS; transmission through an HIE (Health Information Exchange); import into coding and billing applications; or for health care analytic applications.

According to James M. Maisel, M. D., ZyDoc Chairman, "The health care industry is going through a highly complex transition. MediSapien NLP provides enabling services that perform various data conversion and storage functions that help satisfy current and longer-term transition needs. With the recent emergence of new standards and governmental requirements, the use of unstructured data will give way to an absolute need for structured data for interoperability. Standalone silos containing proprietary data types will be transformed by interoperability requirements to share data across multiple constituencies using common vocabularies and transfer protocols. Standardized terminology will power health care analytics, resulting in better outcomes at lower cost. ZyDoc has developed MediSapien to assist the providers of medical care, and the technology and vendor companies who support these medical care providers, in making this transition."

Prospective users for the MediSapien services include the following organizations: health care providers and their technology partners, medical transcription service organizations, EHR companies or resellers, RIS/ PACS companies, HIEs, billing companies and health care analytics companies. ZyDoc can partner with technology providers and integrators, medical data exchanges, and scanning companies to utilize the MediSapien services to support their constituencies. MediSapien offers services that enable clients to convert and store data in a variety of settings and situations. For an example of a MediSapien-powered solution, please see the accompanying illustration.

At RSNA, ZyDoc continues the rollout of its new Medical Knowledge Management Suite, featuring MediSapien NLP Structured Reporting and CAC modules, ZyDoc Clinical Data, and ZyDoc e-Transcription. The suite offers highly efficient integrated and standalone solutions for hospital environments, practice management, academic research, and strategic business analysis. An interactive demo of particular interest to radiologists and PACS/RIS/EHR vendors will be available for viewing at the ZyDoc booth to the press and to qualified industry representatives.

Kenna, Jessica Biel, and Santigold Learn Firsthand About World’s Water Crisis in Ethiopia with UN Foundation and High Commissioner for Refugees

Visit to Ethiopia follows epic “Summit on the Summit” Climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise awareness about this urgent global problem

Kebribeyah, Ethiopia (Vocus) January 20, 2010

Fresh from summiting Mount Kilimanjaro with featured climbers Emile Hirsch, Lupe Fiasco and Alexandra Cousteau, an event that attracted massive attention from around the world, Kenna, Jessica Biel and Santigold, along with Elizabeth Gore, executive director of global partnerships for the United Nations Foundation, toured the Kebribeyah refugee camp and surrounding towns in eastern Ethiopia. They learned how the global water crisis affects the daily lives of tens of thousands of Somali refugees forced to leave their homes because of conflict, persecution, and climate change. The refugee situation is compounded with the fact that local Ethiopian families are struggling to find enough water to survive in the Jijiga region.

“We took on the tallest free-standing mountain on the globe to get the world’s attention about the global clean water crisis,” explained Elizabeth Gore. “Even though everyone is exhausted and bruised, there remained a commitment to go see firsthand how the lack of water impacts some of the most vulnerable people – refugees. I am so honored to have climbed with a group of people that want to give a voice to those who have none.”

The UN Foundation and the UN refugee agency, or UNHCR invited the SUMMIT ON THE SUMMIT climbers to Kebribeyah, to see how refugees are affected by drastic shortages of drinking water. Both refugees and local Ethiopian families are living on as little as 12 liters a day in this region. In Ethiopia, most of the Somali refugees have been forced to flee by conflict in their homeland, but many have been displaced due to lack of water. Ethiopian nationals who also struggle to obtain enough water for their livelihoods surround these refugees.

It is a struggle for them just to reach the security of camps with scarce water supplies. UNHCR endeavors to ensure that the refugees in Kebribeyah get the recommended daily minimum of 20 liters of water per person. The agency has established water projects, including distribution networks that benefit both the refugees, and the local communities, who also suffer from the harsh climatic conditions. Summit on the Summit intends to raise funds and awareness to ensure this region has adequate water infrastructure.

The water crisis is at the heart of a range of related problems with devastating spillover effects. Girls in this area walk up to six hours a day, and often miss school, in their search for clean water. While in camp, Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Gore visited with refugee girls and moms. It was overwhelming to hear over and over; “Refugees are people too, and we deserve water as a basic human right.” Malaria is also prevalent, caused by mosquitoes that breed in stagnant water. These issues, caused by the water crisis, are at the heart of the UN Foundation’s mission to decrease child mortality from preventable diseases such as malaria, and to empower women and girls.

“Clean, safe water is essential for life; and the lack of it is devastating. If the world can solve this global water crisis, 80% of developing monies could be freed up to handle deeper, more complicated issues – issues that are much harder to solve,” commented Kenna.

Funds raised by visiting summitonthesummit. com benefit organizations and charities which are working to bring clean safe water to the developing world including UNHCR, The Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program and Playpumps International U. S.

Savvy. com Now Featuring Mystique's Aria Giovanni

Aria Giovanni is featured this week on Savvy. com in images from her Mystique Magazine shoot with master photographer Mark Daughn.

Tracy, CA (PRWEB) March 6, 2006

Monday March 6 2006, Calif. -- Aria Giovanni, one of the world’s most popular and beautiful models, overcame shyness as a girl and achieved her success as a woman – all with her own curves and convictions. She is featured this week on Savvy. com in images from her Mystique Magazine shoot with master photographer Mark Daughn.

Imagining the ultra-glamorous Aria Giovanni as a shy, insecure child may not be easy, but she tells Savvy. com that she was a tomboy who mostly went unnoticed right through high school because social situations felt awkward.

“I spent a lot of my time in the backyard playing with my animals, climbing trees, and looking for bugs. You could say that I was a bit of a tomboy. I wanted a microscope for Christmas when I was six and a chemistry set for my seventh birthday. I never got asked out in high school. I went pretty much unnoticed.”

Today, all that has changed and she boldly carries the flag for natural women, bucking the trend of skinny models with breast implants. “I’ve have had women come up to me and say they like the fact that I am modeling yet I have curves and I’m not perfect,” she says.

“There are not a lot of women in my industry that are large-chested that are also natural and curvy. It’s sort of an anomaly. It does happen, but there’s just not very many. But there is a demand for it definitely. There are a lot of men out there that want a real woman, a woman that was born this way, who has curves and is not a size 2 with bleached-blonde hair. It is a niche I was born to fill perfectly.”

Giovanni also tells Savvy. com about the modeling industry. She started at age 22 and feels that young women should wait until they know more about the world, especially if they plan to do glamour modeling.

“When you turn 18, you’re still really young, and it is hard to know all the repercussions. There are repercussions to what I do for a living. You need to know whether you are going on to have another career. You might be limited by what you’ve done in the past. One day you might grow up and have a family and wish you’d never made the decision.

“There are people who will stereotype you for the rest of your life. It’s really hard at such a young age to know how you are going to feel about what you are doing 20 years from now”. Having excelled in Math and Science during her shy school years, Aria followed her own advice, started college full-time at 16 and also tutoring college Chemistry, Biology, and Math along the way.

Giovanni now uses her brainpower to operate Ariagiovanni. com, a web site featuring her mainstream and mature content as well as candid shots from her everyday life and a message board to interact with her huge fan base. She says posing for Mystique’s Daughn is a career highlight.

“Mark has a really good eye and is able to capture a moment,” she says. “He adds the essence of fantasy to the photos. You may not be seeing an explicit nude image, but it is still powerful because the image is so beautiful. He’s able to show less skin but yet you feel like you’ve seen more. The whole less-is-more concept. Some people do not want to see everything.”

Once a month, Savvy (http://www. savvy. com (http://www. savvy. com)) showcases the beautiful women of our partner Mystique (http://www. mystique-magazine. com (http://www. mystique-magazine. com)) and Daughn’s seductive style of photography. Since its creation in 1998, Mystique has emerged as one of the leading brands specializing in sensual glamour photography photographed in some of the world’s most exotic locations. It positions itself between Playboy and Victoria’s Secret, on the right side of the morality line. It’s sexier than Victoria’s Secret, but not as revealing or explicit as Playboy. Mystique features “women you could spend the rest of your life with,” perfectly complimenting the women featured in Savvy. com’s non-nude pictorials.
