Halogen Software’s Award-Winning EPM Suite now Offered via Software-as-a-Service Subscription Licensing

Halogen Software’s Award-Winning EPM Suite now Offered via Software-as-a-Service Subscription Licensing

Leading provider of EPM software responds to customer needs for on-demand software

OTTAWA (PRWEB) March 3, 2006

Halogen Software today announced the availability of a subscription license model, catering to customer needs for a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) licensing alternative. This model provides customers with broader options for purchasing Halogen’s award-winning Web-based EPM Suite, which includes their flagship product Halogen eAppraisal(TM), Halogen eAppraisal(TM) Healthcare, Halogen eCompensation(TM) and Halogen e360(TM).

SaaS involves the rental of software licenses versus the outright purchase. It’s a model that does not suit every organization’s needs, but that has been growing in popularity over the past year and has captured much media attention.

In response to market demand and customer expectations, Halogen now provides several licensing options for its’ popular on-premise and hosted offerings, including perpetual and subscription licensing. “Our aim is to make it extremely simple for customers to implement effective employee performance management solutions within their organization,” said Paul Loucks, President of Halogen Software. “We are proud to offer flexible licensing options to meet our customers varied needs and expectations.”

Unlike some of its competitors, Halogen does not focus solely on a SaaS offering. Over 50% of Halogen’s 400+ customers have purchased the software for use on-premise. “While demand for perpetual licensing remains high, interest in the SaaS licensing alternative has gained interest amongst EPM software buyers,” said Dawn MacKay, Halogen Software’s Director of Product Management. “Our goal is to put the customer in the driver's seat as much as possible. Many of our competitors only offer a single licensing option. We have recognized that one option is not appropriate for all organizations and our customers really value having a choice now - and in the future – it reduces their risk. For instance, with Halogen, customers who start off with a hosted solution always have the option of bringing their environment on-premise in the future should the situation warrant it.”

For more information on Halogen’s EPM licensing offerings see http://www. halogensoftware. com/support/saas. php (http://www. halogensoftware. com/support/saas. php)

Volcano Vaporizer Low Price Guarantee at GotVape. com

Volcano Vaporizer Low Price Guarantee at GotVape. com

The Volcano Vaporizer is now being offered at the guaranteed lowest price in the world. This latest addition in quality vaporizers is being offered by GotVape. com, headquarters to the worldÂ’s finest vaporizers and tobacco smoking cessation devices.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 3, 2005

Volcano Vaporizer (http://www. gotvape. com/store/Volcano_Vaporizer. html) has arrived at GotVape. com and is being offered at the guaranteed lowest price in the world. Vaporizers have now been recognized as the healthiest way to ‘smoke’ and the Volcano Vaporizer in particular is setting the bar for excellence in the medical community. Having become the premiere Vaporizer Lifestyle Shopping Portal, GotVape. com is proud to announce the Volcano Vaporizer as its latest addition in cutting edge vaporizer products.

Using the Volcano Vaporizer as well as other vaporizers offered by GotVape. com you get the same effect as smoking, but do so without burning or combusting the plant material. By-products resulting from combustion include tar, ash, CO2, carbon monoxide and other gases as well as carcinogenic elements, many of which are known to increase the likelihood of several cancers are not inhaled because of the vaporizers technology. In addition, because smoking is basically breathing in fire, your lungs and throat are subjected to high amounts of heat, which is damaging no matter what the substance is.

Combustion is also known to decrease and destroy a large percentage of the active ingredients contained in the plant material. Studies have shown that 25-50% of the active ingredients contained in the tobacco are destroyed by the act of combustion itself. So, not only does smoking create many unhealthy and unwanted side effects, a large percentage of the plant material's active ingredients are lost in the process.

The Volcano Vaporizer represents German engineering at it’s finest. The Volcano Vaporizer is imported to America from the manufacturer Storz & Bickel. Each and every Volcano Vaporizer is hand crafted in Germany from the finest materials. Boasting a three-year manufacturers warranty, the Volcano Vaporizer has quickly established itself as the most elite vaporizer on the market today. “The Volcano Vaporizer is a must have for any serious smoker,” says Stephen Perkins multi-platinum artist of Jane’s Addiction, Porno for Pyros, Banyon and The Panic Channel.

The Volcano Vaporizer’s patented valve balloon is where the vapor is captured and ‘smoked’ from. This vapor is created and pumped by the regulated temperature (plus or minus 4°C) controlled base unit. The Volcano Vaporizer valve balloon allows the user to enjoy their vapor at any point for up to 8 hours without the worry of their vapor going stale.

The new Volcano Vaporizer Low Price Guarantee was instituted so that buyers could purchase from GotVape. com with confidence. This confidence comes from the knowledge that GotVape. com offers the very best price on the Volcano Vaporizer and if customers do find it somewhere else cheaper, we will match that price and refund the difference within seven days of purchase.

“The Volcano Vaporizer is just one of the many top quality vaporizers that GotVape. com is bringing onboard over the next 3-6 months. GotVape. com is in negotiations with several of the leading vaporizer manufacturers. It is however still too early to make any announcements as to which vaporizers will be added to the GotVape. com upcoming vaporizer selection,” says Tilo (http://www. gotvape. com/lounge/sounds_tilo. html), cofounder of Methods of Mayhem along with Tommy Lee (http://www. gotvape. com/gallery/tommy_lee. html) and owner of Got Vape?

As well as being the premiere Vaporizer Lifestyle shopping portal, GotVape. com also has an astonishing wholesale distribution network set-up. With over 2500 retail tobacco smoking accessories shops in the pipeline, GotVape. com has become a de facto vaporizer cooperative. Leveraging the bulk buying power of all these stores, GotVape. com is able to drive down prices from the manufacturer and pass along the savings to each and every retail outlet. This is beneficial for both the vaporizer manufacturer looking to increase business, as well as retail tobacco accessories stores who are trying to maximize profits and earning potential.

About Us(http://www. gotvape. com/store/Volcano_Vaporizer. html (http://www. gotvape. com/store/Volcano_Vaporizer. html))

GotVape. com is the premiere Vaporizer Lifestyle Shopping Portal with a primary focus on the wholesale, retail marketing, and distribution of vaporizer products as well as smoking accessories, around the world.

When 'Just Say No' Isn't Enough - Confirm BioSciences Introduces First Comprehensive Home-based Hair Follicle Test to Combat Marijuana, Cocaine, Ecstasy and Illicit Substance Abuse

When 'Just Say No' Isn't Enough - Confirm BioSciences Introduces First Comprehensive Home-based Hair Follicle Test to Combat Marijuana, Cocaine, Ecstasy and Illicit Substance Abuse

A powerful tool for parents and schools, HairConfirm™ accurately determines drug history for 90 days with full drug history report.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) June 5, 2007

Confirm BioSciences (http://www. confirmbiosciences. com) , a San Diego-based biotech company, announced today the introduction of Hair Confirm (http://www. hairconfirm. com), a home-based hair follicle drug test kit that screens for cocaine (including crack cocaine), marijuana, amphetamine (meth/amphetamine and ecstasy), opiate (heroin and codeine) and Phencyclidine (PCP and angel dust). Hair Confirm is the first home test of its kind to provide accurate results and a detailed drug history report--detecting drug use for up to 90 days and identifying whether the user is a low, medium or high user. Moreover, it will definitively show if someone has not consumed illicit substances. Test results are available two business days after the lab receives the sample, the fastest turnaround time in hair drug testing.

Hair Confirm (http://www. hairconfirm. com) enables parents to take a more proactive role in preventing their children's illegal drug use. With nearly one in 10 children over the age of 12 abusing drugs (US Department of Health and Human Services, 2004), addiction remains a grave problem among teenagers and often contributes to crime and violence, teen pregnancies, school dropouts and death. A 2002 research by Teens Today shows that parents are the number one deterrent to a teen's decision to use drugs and 66 percent of parents are willing to use drug testing as a prevention tool. Hair Confirm is an important tool for parents who want to prevent and combat drug addiction," said Zeynep Ilgaz, CEO of Confirm BioSciences. "Talking with your teen about drugs and taking preventive measures like hair drug testing can be a significant factor in preventing substance abuse. The fact that you are doing drug testing in your home will give your teen a chance to say NO when the time comes"

Hair follicle drug testing is a highly trusted method of drug detection. Unlike urine or saliva testing which can be tampered with and detectable for only up to two or three days, Hair Confirm will screen for the five most popular drug classes to determine a 90-day drug history. Test results can show the trend of a habit over time and accurately determine what drugs were used. Marianne Dennova is a concerned parent who has tried Hair Confirm and said, "…This has been the second time I've had to use this hair drug testing on my son, unfortunately. I don't know what I would have done without it."

Based on research performed by Confirm BioSciences (http://www. confirmbiosciences. com/) on current use of home-based drug testing kits by parents, hair drug testing is a preferred method of testing teenagers for drug abuse for many of the parents in cities like Newport Beach, Palo Alto, Carlsbad, Redondo Beach, Del Mar, Huntington Beach, Bellevue, Southfield, Newton, Wayne, Stamford, Troy, Wheaton, Norwalk, Austin, McKinney and Edison. Drug abuse by teenagers is not a problem limited to low income urban areas and marijuana use is not the only problem for most families.

Hair Confirm is sold through resellers, distributors and drug stores and available to consumers, schools and educational institutions. For more information visit www. hairconfirm. com.

Sussex Sound Therapy Expert to Hold Awareness Event

Sussex Sound Therapy Expert to Hold Awareness Event

One of the country’s leading pioneers in Sound Therapy is planning a special event at the University of Chichester so people can get a taste of the life-changing and healing benefits of sound therapy and help mark her academy’s tenth birthday.

(PRWeb UK) May 19, 2010

One of the country’s leading pioneers in Sound Therapy is planning a special event at the University of Chichester so people can get a taste of the life-changing and healing benefits of sound therapy and help mark her academy’s tenth birthday.

Founder of Soundworks and the British Academy of Sound Therapy Lyz Cooper, from Chichester, is inviting people to experience ‘sound baths’, ‘sonic massages’ and ‘sonic hot chocolate’ during the course on 5 June which will culminate in a ‘sonic boom’ using instruments such as Himalayan bowls, crystal bowls, gongs and drums.

Lyz, who is also a tutor and author, said: “Most people can relate to a piece of music being relaxing or energising. In a sound therapy treatment we play a combination of ancient and modern instruments to gently relax or stimulate the energy system, rather like an acupuncturist but with sound instead of needles! This technique may sound strange, but the methodology is supported by the latest cutting edge science”.

“Over the years, many of our clients have made life-changing recoveries from their symptoms. We have worked with individuals with fertility issues, chronic pain, cancer, stress-related illnesses, IBS, ME, tinnitus, mild depression, anxiety, arthritis and so much more. Whether people have a regular ‘tune up’ or relaxation session, or have a chronic long-term illness, sound could help people to enjoy a better quality of life.”

Some of Lyz’s students have had amazing results which have included a woman who was suffering with cancer being able to walk around the supermarket for the first time in years and helping a man with a paralysed arm regain mobility.

“One in five Britons are now using complementary therapies and alternative medicines, but the benefits of sound are still relatively unknown in this country. In Germany and the US, it is much more widely used. I’m now really keen to make as many people as possible aware of the power of sound therapy.

“We also need more people around the UK to train as professional sound therapists so we can offer help to people who need it as demand for the service grows,” Lyz explained.

The ‘Sonic Boom’ event takes place on 5 June at the University of Chichester, Bognor Campus. For more information go to www. healthysound. com

Lyz is also celebrating winning a national award from the Institute for Complementary and Natural Medicine that recognises complementary medicine practitioners for their achievements and for raising the profile of complementary medicine. Soundworks and BAST won the Best Complementary Medicine Company category. http://www. i-c-m. org. uk/news/ICNMAwards (http://www. i-c-m. org. uk/news/ICNMAwards)

About Lyz
Lyz has been working in the complementary health arena since 1981 and has studied many aspects of this field. She has been teaching since 1992 within both mainstream and private adult education. In 2004 she graduated from University with a Certificate in Education (Cert. Ed) and is now taking a Masters’ Degree in Education - researching the effectiveness of sound on learning ability, social skills and the immune system.

In 1995 she began researching sound therapy and developed an effective technique for improving health and well-being. Her work has produced excellent results and received very positive support in the UK and overseas. Lyz became the first qualified sound practitioner in the UK to be recognised by the Institute for Complementary and Natural Medicine (ICNM).

In 2000, Lyz formed the first sound therapy training establishment in the UK to offer aprofessional qualification in sound therapy. She is a consultant to the ICNM and a member of the British General Council of Complementary Practitioners, an organisation formed to represent the complex profession of complementary medicine through elected and appointed representatives.

Lyz gives performances and runs talks, workshops and presentations in the UK and overseas. She has also composed two CD's - Chakra Balance and Crystal and Stone – and performs with her group, Soundscapes, in wonderful locations such as Stonehenge. In June 2006 Soundscapes released their first CD Emergence which has received excellent reviews.

Lyz’s book, ‘Sounding the Mind of God’ has received excellent reviews from prominent people in the field of therapeutic sound and science. It is currently being translated into German and will be published in Germany in September 2010.

A few case studies from Lyz
One woman – let’s call her Sky, joined a workshop I was giving. She had broken her back in a car accident, was most of the time in a wheelchair but could also walk short distances with a frame. After a five minute sound bath (where I walked around the group playing Tibetan bowls) she remarked she was amazed to find the feeling was coming back in her toes for the first time since the accident.

Another woman - Jill, had damaged two vertebrae in her spine when someone fell on her going down stairs. She now had a metal plate in her lumbar region keeping everything together. This gave her a lot of pain and was very uncomfortable most of the time. After the first session she wrote me a letter:

"Thank you so much for your wonderful treatment. I must admit, when you first came, I was unsure as to how this [sound therapy] could help me. After I saw you I slept like a baby, and surprised my husband when I literally sprang out of bed the following morning (as opposed to rolling onto my side before bringing my feet gingerly to the floor). I then cleaned and dusted, and even walked the few hundred yards to the corner shop. I have been floating in a cloud of painless and relaxed bliss for a few days now, and wanted to write to tell you how much better I feel, thank you so much."

Jill had two more treatments, one week apart and cancelled an operation she had booked. She no longer requires treatment and her doctor is very pleased with her progress.

Sound releases imbalances, not only on a physical, but also an emotional level. Many people I have treated over the years have had tears or felt, anger, fear, love and laughter during a session. I see all emotional releases as positive, and often it is just what a client needs.

Current & Potential Applications to Drive Advanced Ceramics Market to US$48.23 Billion by 2010, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc

Current & Potential Applications to Drive Advanced Ceramics Market to US$48.23 Billion by 2010, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.

Global Advanced Ceramics market is forecast to post a robust compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.21% over the 2001-2010 analysis period to register sales of US$48.23 billion by 2010. Japan, the largest and fastest growing market, is forecast to occupy over 40% share by the end of 2010.

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) July 17, 2007

Advanced ceramics market (http://www. strategyR. com/MCP-1001.asp) is now rebounding after a horrid economic setback during 2001-2003 driven by 9/11 terrorist attacks and consequent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, followed by a spate of diseases such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). Currently, global advanced ceramic market is witnessing robust growth and healthy operating margins, owing to rising demand from current and potential applications. The market is experiencing two-pronged growth. In traditional applications, growth is evincing from performance enhancement either through a supplementary role or through substitution of conventional materials, while in newer applications, advanced ceramics are assuming greater role of delivering specific performances not feasible earlier. The unique material solutions offered by advanced ceramic blends are the growth engines for the industry, surging ahead to add new dimensions to the market size and value.

Structural Ceramics market (http://www. strategyR. com/MCP-1001.asp) is projected to post an impressive CAGR of 10.21% over the 2001-2010 period. Electronics Ceramics market (http://www. strategyR. com/MCP-1001.asp) is forecast to account for a market of US$31 billion by the end of 2010. Other segments independently analyzed include Chemical Processing and Environmental Ceramics market (http://www. strategyR. com/MCP-1001.asp) and Ceramic Coatings market (http://www. strategyR. com/MCP-1001.asp).

Information technology and electronic industries are emerging as the two bastions of advanced ceramics' market since late '90s. Rising demand for high-performance electronic, computing and communication devices is propping the large-scale adoption of advanced ceramic compositions within these industries. Cross-application synergies are also upstaging, unveiling newer and more sophisticated application platforms for advanced ceramics. Thus, with the revenue charts increasingly tipping towards the high-end markets, the industry's end user profile is undergoing rapid transformation, away from the conventional end-use markets such as defense equipment, chemical processing, and glass industries. With the spurt unlikely to die down any sooner, the IT and electronic industries are projected to remain dominant and aggressively growing end users of advanced ceramics.

Commercial use of advanced ceramics is limited by the complexity and high costs of implementation; skepticism about the long-term stability and consistency of material properties, coupled with lack of industry-wide standardization, high cost of components and absence of performance tracking deterring the full-scale commercialization of advanced ceramics until recently. However, burgeoning research and developments and new product innovations are expected to drive new opportunities for advanced ceramics in the coming years. Additionally, growing impetus for environmental protection is likely to bolster demand for the use of the materials in replacement applications that are touted as environmentally unsafe. Of late, the rising shipments of commercial and military aircrafts and future orders, particularly from the US and Asian countries, is expected to assure a stable market for advanced ceramic coatings in the next five years.

Major competitors profiled include American Technical Ceramics Corp., Applied Ceramics Inc., Ceradyne, Inc., CPS Technologies Corporation, CeramTec AG, COI Ceramics Inc., Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA, CoorsTek, Inc., GE Advanced Ceramics Corp., International Ceramic Engineering, KEMET Corporation, Kyocera Corporation, Kyocera Industrial Ceramics Corporation, Morgan Advanced Ceramics, Murata Manufacturing Co. Ltd., NGK Insulators Ltd., Rauschert GmbH, Samsung Electro-Mechanics Company Ltd., Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd., TDK Corporation, Toshiba Ceramics Co. Ltd., Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. and Yageo Corp.

Webster's New World® College Dictionary Chooses "Overshare" as the 2008 Word of the Year

Webster's New World® College Dictionary Chooses "Overshare" as the 2008 Word of the Year

"Overshare" is the name given to TMI (too much information), whether willingly offered or inadvertently revealed. Both a verb and a noun, it is a new word for an old habit made astonishingly easy by modern technology.

Hoboken, NJ (PRWEB) December 2, 2008

More than you wanted to know. Those personal, overly-detailed revelations of … (fill in the cringeworthy blank) are really more than you wanted to know. But in an era of online social networking and instant digital broadcasts, this type of unsolicited and often embarrassing communication is an inescapable sign of the times.

"Overshare," the 2008 Word of the Year (http://newworldword. com) at Webster's New World® College Dictionary, is the name given to "TMI (too much information)," whether willingly offered or inadvertently revealed. It is the word for both the tedious minutiae on personal websites and blogs and the accidental slips of the tongue in public (or even private) situations. Both a verb and a noun, note Webster's New World editors, overshare is a new word for an old habit made astonishingly easy by modern technology. It is yet another product of digital advances that allow people to record and transmit their lives - in words, videos, and graphics - to anyone with Internet access, friend or foe.

So what or who defines an overshare? If oversharing really is "too much information," how much is too much, and does that make the term necessarily pejorative? Ah, say the editors, Webster's New World (http://www. wiley. com/WileyCDA/Section/id-310809.html) usage citations indicate otherwise. On social networks online, oversharing becomes an art form. Sharing just the right amount of history otherwise deemed too personal can lead to just the right amount of encounters with compatible people. Sociologists weighing in on the subject are split. Some see it as a healthy quest for intimacy in an all-too-impersonal world while others deem it troublingly narcissistic. The debate itself has spawned or highlighted many other new terms like "Documentation Generation," "Look at Me Generation," "co-rumination," and "navel-gazing." Blogs, vlogs (video blogs), and online journals provide persistent public display of overshares that can be both artful and alarming.

Radiance Fine Jewelry Urges Single Women: "Indulge Yourself!" -- SWWAN Partner Serves Rising Numbers of Single Women

Radiance Fine Jewelry Urges Single Women: "Indulge Yourself!" -- SWWAN Partner Serves Rising Numbers of Single Women

As the numbers of single women continue to rise in the U. S., new help is on the way. Radiance Fine Jewelry joins with SWWAN (Single Working Women's Affiliate Network) to offer single working women trusted service and a discount on fine jewelry repair.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) December 2, 2008

Radiance Fine Jewelry and SWWAN (Single Working Women's Affiliate Network) today announce their partnership to help rising numbers of single and divorced women feel empowered to buy their own jewelry--and get a nice discount on jewelry repair services.

The number of single working women is rising consistently. Recent Census Bureau numbers show 54 percent of the 92 million unmarried Americans over age 18 are women--divorced, widowed, or never married. And because women still make, in general, only about 70 percent of what men are paid for the same work, SWWAN is in the process of building an AARP-style program throughout Chicago in which members receive not only discounts but also proven trusted service from a select group of vendors.

Radiance Fine Jewelry is one of the founding partners in the SWWAN vendor program.

"The idea that single women should sit around and wait for someone else to buy them beautiful jewelry is ridiculous," said Rebecca Gutermuth, owner of Radiance Fine Jewelry, 2139 N. Damen Ave. in Chicago. She notes that many SWWAN members are in the same audience she targets--35 to 55, single, working women. "No reason these women have to wait for Romeo to sweep them off their feet. I'm excited to welcome a whole new group of women to the joy of owning fine jewelry and one-of-a-kind designer pieces."

Ms. Gutermuth is a triumphant example of what it can mean to be a single working woman today. She started her business, Radiance Fine Jewelry, just two years ago in 2006. "I had to fight for a bank to give me the loan because I was a single woman," she said. Today, her store is one of the anchor businesses at the northern end of Chicago's Bucktown shopping district.

SWWAN members receive a permanent 25% off any fine jewelry repair (excluding watches). Other services include ring sizing, repairs for chains, earring backs, and clasps, re-plating white gold pieces, etc. The store carries a number of lines of unique designer jewelry (http://www. radiancefinejewelry. com/designers. html (http://www. radiancefinejewelry. com/designers. html)) and regularly screens new designers.

"Radiance Fine Jewelry has been with us from the beginning," said Barbara Payne, founder and chairman of SWWAN. "Rebecca shares our passion for empowering single women and enhancing the single lifestyle. And we are delighted to announce this partnership in time to give SWWANs some new Christmas, holiday and Valentine's Day gift ideas--for others and for themselves!"

SWWAN approved vendors include retail business services, groceries, hardware, dry cleaning, repair services, auto mechanics, and so on. Each vendor offers something special to SWWAN members--special discounts, extra services, guaranteed good service, and other needs. Other vendor offers have included free oil changes and inspections from a local auto service company; discounts on grocery deliveries; a free week's health club membership; and discounts on website services.

"Our vendors are building visibility among a new target audience of potential customers," said Ms. Payne. "The discounts and special services are a great way to attract new customers from among the growing population of busy single moms and single working women."

Honeymoon Is Over for Medicare Part D; A Rocky Road Lies Ahead but Canadian Pharmacies Offer Help and Hope

Honeymoon Is Over for Medicare Part D; A Rocky Road Lies Ahead but Canadian Pharmacies Offer Help and Hope

After a tumultuous launch, poor enrollment and ongoing confusion, the embattled Medicare Part D prescription program has yet to clear its most daunting challenges: the April 1st expiry of the 90-day grace period, the enrollment deadline on May 15th and the start of the donut hole for many patients later in 2006. The net result: millions of prescriptions will not be covered nor afforded. Canadian pharmacies can ease the pain.

(PRWEB) March 27, 2006

Toronto, Canada, March 27th, 2006 – The new Medicare prescription drug program for American seniors has been beset with problems since its inception but faces even greater challenges for the remainder of 2006. April 1st will mark the expiry of the 90-day grace period designed to help seniors transition into the program by maintaining them on previous therapies that may not be covered by their Medicare plan. The May 15th enrollment deadline also looms with little administration sympathy for an extension despite widespread confusion and frustration.

But the most insidious deficiency of all may prove to be the onset of the “donut hole” or coverage gap, which could bring a shocking dose of reality to patients forced to pay full price for their drugs. These drawbacks can be solved by considering safe and affordable drugs from licensed online Canadian pharmacies like ADV-Care (www. adv-care. com or www. PharmacyOnTheNet. com).

“Medicare D is over-promising and under-delivering” says Ramy Attalla, Director of Communications at ADV-Care Pharmacy. “It offers some benefits but there are serious gaps that Canadian medications can fill beautifully. Patients are discovering that a CANADA + MEDICARE approach can be the best option.”

Officials are already concerned that many patients may be forced to go without their medication once the 90-day grace period expires on April 1st. The policy was implemented in January when thousands of seniors were refused coverage, forcing 36 states to intervene with emergency assistance to maintain residents on prescribed therapies.

Disturbingly, insurance companies have been remiss in informing their customers of what drugs will be covered. State assistance is also scheduled to end by April 1st, 2006. As such, many patients could be at risk of losing coverage permanently - a situation that can be alleviated by Canadian pharmacies like ADV-Care.

“Whatever the reason for lack of coverage, Canada can deliver savings as good or better than Medicare. Whether you fall off the formulary or into the donut hole, why pay full price for a drug when it is available at 40 – 70% savings on your doorstep?!”

ADV-Care Pharmacy ( www. adv-care. com or www. PharmacyOnTheNet. com) is licensed by the Ontario College of Pharmacists, and has been safely dispensing medications to Canadian & U. S. residents for 6 years. All Canadian medications are Health Canada approved and are dispensed by licensed pharmacists.

Connecting You to the Consumer for Their Health, Wellness & Lifestyle Decisions

Connecting You to the Consumer for Their Health, Wellness & Lifestyle Decisions

The healthcare industry and marketplace are changing, from consumer demands to age make-up to household decision makers. Consumer Health World, a producer of business-to-business healthcare conferences, will address these changes with a combined event in Chicago from September 17-19 featuring The Marketing to the New Healthcare Consumer Conference, The International Consumer Health On Demand Conference, and The Boomers Business, Health and Lifestyle Conference. These three co-located events will look closely at how new attitudes and concerns about health and growing healthcare costs are driving purchase decisions about finances, housing, travel, nutrition and so much more.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) August 24, 2007

Wendy Borow-Johnson, President, Healthy Living Channel and Senior Vice President, Turner Media Group, can see that the healthcare industry and marketplace are changing, from consumer demands to age make-up to household decision makers.

In order to address these changes, Borow-Johnson has taken a position as Conference Chair for Consumer Health World, a producer of business-to-business healthcare conferences. As Chair, she has a prominent role in shaping the content and bringing in a diverse group of experts to speak at this national event.

"When we started to plan September's Consumer Health World Conferences, we thought it was important to not just focus on how the new breed of healthcare consumers is purchasing traditional healthcare products and services, but to look closely at how new attitudes and concerns about their health and growing healthcare costs are driving purchase decisions about finances, housing, travel, nutrition and so much more," says Borow-Johnson. "Before being a 'patient', we are all 'consumers'. In today's health-driven market, all of us are more engaged and take more responsibility for our own health status than ever before."

From September 17 - 19, Consumer Health World is bringing healthcare stakeholders together with three, co-located conferences at the Chicago Hilton: The Marketing to the New Healthcare Consumer Conference, The International Consumer Health On Demand Conference, and The Boomers Business, Health and Lifestyle Conference. Each of these individual conferences will offer practical advice for companies and marketing firms trying to engage these consumers, as well as for the medical and retail industries that are developing products and services to provide health when and where consumers need it.

Borow-Johnson explains, "As consumers demand more choice and control, the challenge is to target marketing efforts and incorporate new modalities with tried and true approaches. Whatever platform they use, today's marketing efforts must provide for feedback from all of those that they reach -- whether through web 2.0, blogs, surveys, direct response print or TV ads."

Attendees at Consumer Health World in Chicago will join the experts to discuss context, competitive advantage and the utilization of new technologies in the engagement of today's healthcare consumer. Attendees will include health and healthcare product marketers, brand and marketing executives at hospitals and health plans, leaders of large healthcare practice groups, heads of large and small corporations, developers of new health products and devices, members of communications and marketing agencies, and others.

This Consumer Health World event features more than 120 speakers, including Janice Jackson, Executive Director, Healthcare Innovation, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP; James Mault, MD, Director of New Products, Health Solutions, Microsoft; Bonnie Becker, Director, Pharmaceutical Category, Yahoo! Search Marketing; Jay Silverstein, President, Employer Group, Revolution Health; Meg Columbia-Walsh, Managing Partner, CommonHealth; Linda Kaplan Thaler, Chief Executive Officer and Founder, The Kaplan Thaler Group; and Joseph Kvedar, MD, Director, Center for Connected Health, Partners HealthCare, Vice Chair, Department of Dermatology, Harvard Medical School.

Sessions include "Industry Leaders Assess the Effectiveness of Responses to Customers' Demands for Personalized Health," "Healthcare at the Point of Convenience for the Consumer," "Reaching Women Consumers in Online Media," "Baby Boomers: The Next 20 Years," "Putting Health Data Into the Patient's Hands: Are PHRs the Disruptive Innovation Needed to Empower the Consumer With Their Healthcare Choices," "Successful Strategies in Reaching the African American Women and Boomers Market," and more.

It’s Still A Pink And Blue World

It’s Still A Pink And Blue World

A new report by the National Women's Law Center examines girls’ participation in career and technical education (CTE) programs that are nontraditional for their gender. The report finds that, in spite of the 33-year-old Title IX law that prohibits sex discrimination in education, girls still represent the vast majority of students in traditionally female fields and boys are nearly all the students enrolled in traditionally male programs – a pattern virtually unchanged over the last three decades. The American Association of University Women Westchester and NYC Branches are working to change that.

Yorktown Heights, NY (PRWEB) November 4, 2005

High school career and technical education programs haven’t progressed much since the days when girls were required to take home economics and boys were required to enroll in shop, according to Tools of the Trade, a report released last week by the National Women’s Law Center. (To view the report, including state-specific fact sheets, visit: http://www. nwlc. org/details. cfm? id=2462§ion=education (http://www. nwlc. org/details. cfm? id=2462§ion=education).)

The comprehensive report – and 12 state-specific toolkits – examines girls’ participation in career and technical education (CTE) programs that are nontraditional for their gender. The report finds that, in spite of the 33-year-old Title IX law that prohibits sex discrimination in education, girls still represent the vast majority of students in traditionally female fields and boys are nearly all the students enrolled in traditionally male programs – a pattern virtually unchanged over the last three decades.

For example, a 1977 study by the federal Office for Civil Rights found that girls made up 14 percent of students in trade and industrial courses. Today, girls represent only 15 percent of students taking classes in traditionally male fields such as carpentry, automotive, masonry and welding.

“The hard truth is that most carpenters and electricians simply earn much more than health care workers and cosmetologists,” said Marcia D. Greenberger, Co-President of the National Women’s Law Center and report contributor. “Breaking down the barriers that prevent girls from enrolling in nontraditional courses is not just a fairness issue, it’s an issue of dollars and cents.”

The dollars-and-cents difference in payoff is startling: girls who take up traditionally female occupations can expect to earn half (or less) of what they could make if they went into traditionally male fields. Although child care providers play a crucial role in society, for example, they are woefully under-compensated. In 2004, the average hourly wage of a child care worker was $8.06, while the average engineer earned $22.06 per hour. In fact, the highest median wage for a traditionally female category ($14.63 for health professions) was lower than the lowest median wage in a traditionally male field ($16.63 for agricultural management).

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) has long worked to create equity for women and girls in education. The Westchester and New York City Branches have teamed with Barnard College to host “Expanding Your Horizons™ in Math and Science,” a conference for 7th grade girls.

“Our mission is to encourage girls to continue taking math, science and technology classes so that all career options remain open to them,” says Jann Mirchandani, one of the three conference Co-Chairs. “We work to achieve this by having the girls participate in hands-on workshops led by women professionals working in math, science and technology related fields. Girls are also given the opportunity to talk to women role models by playing our “Mystery Women” game.”

Now in its third year, the conference draws 150 girls and 50 adults from across the county and Manhattan. In it’s first year, the conference sold-out, demonstrating the need – and interest – in such programs.

“This conference ties in directly with AAUW’s theme: Education is the Gateway to Women’s Economic Security” says Mirchandani. “The recent study by the NWLS only underscores that we are on the right track.”

Volunteers are still needed. There are many ways in which community members can become involved in this important conference–even those without a math/science/technology background. Mirchandani encourages anyone interested in helping with the conference to contact her at jann AT aauw-eyhconference. org.

The American Association of University Women, with its nationwide network of more than 100,000 bipartisan members and 1,300 branches, has been a leading advocate for equity for women and girls since 1881.

High Cost of Chronic Illness Spotlights Need for Case Management Professionals

High Cost of Chronic Illness Spotlights Need for Case Management Professionals

Chronic illness carries an estimated 75 percent of U. S. healthcare costs, creating more demand on case managers, who improve patient outcomes, quality of life and help reduce rehospitalizations

Belleville, Ill. (Vocus) October 2, 2009

The growing prevalence of chronic illness, such as heart failure and hypertension, are creating a more demanding healthcare environment and highlight the need for case managers, according to the Case Management Society of America. During National Case Management Week--Oct. 11 to 17, 2009, the CMSA and other organizations, including Allsup, are working to raise awareness about the value of case managers in the medical community. Allsup is a nationwide provider of Social Security disability representation and Medicare services.

"The cost of managing chronic illness has become astronomical," reports the August/September issue of Case In Point magazine, the official magazine for CMSA. For example, there are now an estimated 5 million Americans living with congestive heart failure.

The story, "New Dimensions in Disease Management," examines trends in supporting patients and providing quality, cost-effective care in light of costly chronic diseases. About 75 percent of U. S. healthcare spending goes toward treating chronic conditions such as diabetes, cancer and heart disease, according to Health Affairs journal (Jan. 2009).

Case managers are becoming increasingly important in developing healthcare strategies. Not only does case management support patients and their families in navigating the healthcare system, it decreases the fragmentation of services, encourages health team communication, and contributes significantly to patient safety, quality of life and cost-efficient management of limited resources. Case managers' activities include assessing and monitoring patients, determining their eligibility for treatments and arranging for additional services, such as housing.

Every day, case managers are contacted by individuals, family members and caregivers seeking their assistance and intervention. The week of Oct. 11 to 17, 2009, provides an opportunity to recognize and celebrate case managers' crucial element of caregiving. The national observance is a thank you for the efforts of professionals who work for government agencies, long-term care facilities, nonprofits, rehabilitation facilities and in other settings.

Allsup is saluting case management professionals during National Case Management Week with free posters available to case managers, clinics and other community groups by calling Karen Hercules-Doerr at (800) 854-1418, ext. 5770.

Markland Technologies' Vehicle Stopping System Offers Deterrent as Illegal Smuggling Across US-Mexican Border Increases

Markland Technologies' Vehicle Stopping System Offers Deterrent as Illegal Smuggling Across US-Mexican Border Increases

Markland Technologies, Inc. (MKLD), an integrated security company, (www. marklandtech. com) posted today recent video coverage (see link below) on one of its border security technologies, the Vehicle Stopping System (VSS).

(PRWEB) July 25, 2003

News Release

For Immediate Release:

Markland Technologies' Vehicle Stopping System Offers Deterrent as Illegal Smuggling Across US-Mexican Border Increases

RIDGEFIELD, CT (PRWEB) Jul 23, 2003 - Markland Technologies, Inc. (MKLD), an integrated security company, (www. marklandtech. com) posted today recent video coverage (see link below) on one of its border security technologies, the Vehicle Stopping System (VSS).

The VSS net is used to capture and stop rogue vehicles without endangering the safety of the occupants.

Smuggling has become a high-volume business at the US-Mexican border. The DHS has made border security a priority, while Mexican officials have said that the safety and health of the illegal migrants are imperative. The safe nature of the VSS to capture rogue vehicles makes it a viable component of an integrated technology solution

The VSS is now being evaluated for multiple site installations since the successful testing at the San Ysidro, California port of entry. The VSS can stop and detain smugglers and terrorists traveling at speeds up to 50 MPH, versus the current dangerous and ineffective methods of tire shredders. According to recent news, smuggling is on the increase, and the VSS offers a safe and economical deterrent.

The INS changed policy to prevent illegal migration over the Mexico-US border in 1994 with the focus on deterrents, mostly in the form of increased border patrol personnel. Changes in security needs, due to 9/11, and the formation of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), have directed the focus to finding solutions in the form of technologies.

The VSS is a simple technology that can be easily deployed and installed as a cost effective deterrent. Markland is currently contracted with the Department of Homeland Security to perform maintenance and logistical support activities at multiple US Border Ports of Entry. In addition, Markland is building a complimentary portfolio of biometric solutions. The VSS is currently being evaluated for border, military, and commercial applications.

"Media coverage of the VSS includes 88 airings in 34 markets including ABC, CBS, FOX, CNN and NBC " stated Markland's President Ken Ducey. "This is only one of several technologies in our Homeland Security portfolio that can be used for border and port security. We are excited about the industry exposure and response it has received to date."

The VSS is a remotely triggered denial of entry device that utilizes a net to capture and surround a suspicious vehicle, capturing the occupants aside until authorities arrive. The agent or sentry deploys the net when a vehicle ignores commands and attempts to speed out of the port.

Baylor Health Care System Signs Enterprise-Wide Agreement with Galvanon to Automate Patient Registration

Baylor Health Care System Signs Enterprise-Wide Agreement with Galvanon to Automate Patient Registration

Baylor's successful pilot of patient self-service technology receives Innovator Award from Hospitals & Health Networks.

Maitland, FL (PRWEB) August 24, 2005

Galvanon, the patient experience company, today announced that Baylor Health Care System signed a three-year, multi-million contract to license its MediKiosk™ solution at all of its affiliated facilities. Under the terms of the agreement, Baylor will roll out Galvanon's self-service kiosks to automate the patient registration process at its entire network of hospitals, primary care centers, rehabilitation clinics and ambulatory surgery centers.

The contract follows a successful pilot program at Baylor's Sammons Cancer and Breast Imaging Center, where patients use Galvanon's MediKiosk to check-in for appointments, enter or verify demographic information and make co-payments. By using the eClipboard technology, Baylor has automated and streamlined the patient registration process, resulting in significant operational and financial benefits.

This self-service approach has minimized wait times for patients, lessened congestion at the front desk, reduced the need for paper forms and improved staff productivity. In the next three years, Baylor will rollout the e-Clipboard technology to an additional 15 locations across the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

“We strive to implement technology that improves the delivery of care and enhances the patient experience,” said Randy Fusco, vice president of information services at Baylor Health Care System. “With Galvanon's eClipboard, we found a way to achieve both of these objectives, and we look forward to expanding the reach of this patient self-service approach across the enterprise.”

Hospitals & Health Networks, the journal of the American Hospital Association, recently recognized Baylor for its use of eClipboard at the Sammons Cancer & Breast Imaging Center with its Innovator Award. Baylor was one of three hospitals to receive the award, which recognizes unique applications of information technology that promote clinical and operational excellence.

Baylor's patient self-service offering includes online bill pay and pre-registration, which gives patients the ability to update their health profile, view medical files, pre-register for appointments or pay their bills online. This functionality has been in use for more than a year and is made available through Galvanon's Customer Value Management (CVM) Enterprise Server. This common platform facilitates the seamless exchange of data between eClipboard, online self-service applications and Baylor's clinical information system—minimizing redundant data entry and offering added convenience to patients.

Baylor also uses eClipboard to facilitate adaptive clinical screening and enterprise-level forms management. By using this functionality, departments across the enterprise can present health history questionnaires in an intuitive manner that generates questions based on previous responses. This capability supports a more effective triage and treatment process by capturing a higher quality of data and reduces the costs of associated with gathering, reviewing and processing patient health information.

“We commend Baylor for their innovative approach to improving patient satisfaction at their facilities,” said Raj Toleti, chairman and CEO of Galvanon. “Their use of eClipboard for patient registration and forms management leads the way in patient self-service process enablement, resulting in reduced administrative costs and a safer, more effective patient care process.”

About Galvanon, Inc.

Everest Institute to Host Grand Re-Opening Event, Launch New Programs at Decatur Campus

To celebrate its new campus opening, Everest Institute is welcoming the entire community to attend a Grand Opening from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. on June 18. The event will feature a ribbon cutting ceremony, a short address by Commissioner Larry Johnson, a radio promo and giveaways from HOT 107.9, musical performances by Decatur high school bands and a jazz quartet, as well as a castle bounce house for children.

Decatur, GA (Vocus) June 10, 2009

Less than a few miles separate Everest Institute's new campus in Decatur from its previous location in DeKalb. While the two are only a short drive away from one another, the new facility is light years ahead in terms of amenities.

The new location at 2460 Wesley Chapel Road offers a more convenient, larger learning facility and substantial technology improvements. Classrooms are now located under one roof, whereas in its previous location, instructors taught in two separate buildings. Featuring smart classrooms, a full library, a student lounge, large laboratory spaces and a massage clinic, the new facility has a wealth of new capabilities to offer students in the area.

The Grand Opening will provide opportunities for area residents to take a guided tour of the 50,o00-square-foot campus that opened this spring. Guests will have the chance to meet students, faculty and staff and obtain information about the School's programs. The Decatur campus has also introduced new programs in Electrician and Residential Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (RHVAC). Developed to capitalize on growing job opportunities in those fields, both programs will be enhanced by new laboratories featuring electrical simulation and soldering.

"With all the new amenities, we're able to deliver complete training in every area of the programs we offer," said Barbara Holliman, Everest Institute - Decatur President. "This grand opening is a way to give something back to the community. We care about it, and we want people to feel more involved in what's going on at our school."

Growth at Everest Institute has been significant. Since December, the student population has increased from about 450 students to more than 700. The larger campus can accommodate growth, which Holliman said could reach 1,500 to 1,800 students. The School now boasts a placement rate of more than 80 percent.

Programs begin at the new campus in July. For more information about the Grand Opening event or Everest Institute programs, call 404-327-8787.

Christmas .. with a difference

ChristmasÂ….. with a difference

(PRWEB) September 15, 2005

Spend, spend, spendÂ… eat, eat, eat. The Christmas season is just around the corner with its annual race to excessive consumption and waste.

Over the Christmas period, the UK is estimated to consume over 10 million turkeys and to generate 3 million tonnes of waste. Every man, woman and child will on average receive 17 cards totalling up to 1 billion cards being disposed of. Over 7.5 million Christmas trees will be bought and most of them will be thrown away. An estimated 83 square km of wrapping paper will also be discarded. That is enough to cover an area larger than Guernsey. ( Source: Waste Online)

So why not opt for a green and ethical Christmas and take a more sustainable approach to the holidays?

Buy an organic turkey that has enjoyed a good diet and lived outside rather than in an overcrowded cage. It will taste better and you will be able to keep a clear conscience when serving it on the table. Buy fair-trade chocolate so you can be sure that local cocoa farmers are paid fairly and can also have a good Christmas. Buy less packaged goods, avoid plastic coated gift wrapping so it can easily recycled. Choose recycled paper cards that are made locally. Call your local authority and find out how you can recycle your Christmas tree. You can also buy a tree with roots that can be planted back and used again next year.

In the spirit of goodwill make sure you also buy gifts that make a difference.

Organic and fair-trade clothing is sweatshop-free and benefits the environment. It is a great alternative to mass produced high street goods. Help conserve valuable raw materials by buying gifts made of recycled materials. Organic skincare is free of harmful chemical and will benefit your skin and your health. Sustainable and fair-trade toys will help preserve the environment while ensuring that your kidsÂ’ toys have not been made by other children.

By Nature is bringing you some great inspiration for an ethical Christmas. Our Green Christmas Lifestyle Guide will explain how to waste less while our selection of organic and ethical gifts is full of great ideas for the whole family such as:

RECYCLED AND FAIR-TRADE DININGWARE

ORGANIC, SUSTAINABLE AND FAIR-TRADE TOYS

ORGANIC BEAUTY AND WELLBEING

ORGANIC FASHION FOR WOMEN, CHILDREN AND MEN

Getting Geared for Holistic Holiday Sales

Getting Geared for Holistic Holiday Sales

Marketing advice for holistic, natural and organic retailers for the upcoming holiday season.

(PRWEB) October 4, 2004 -

The holidays are almost upon us, and for many, this is a "make-or-break" time for their business. Taking from my Girl Scout upbringing, success depends on being prepared -- here are some cost-effective ways to help you attract more customers to your business during the holiday season.

1. Giveaway and Receive. This season is the best time to hold a giveaway and collect names for your mailing list. The mailing list you can use all year long to continue touting your store, products and/or services.

2. Become a Gift Elf. Lots of time when a customer comes into your store, they find items they would love to receive themselves. Offer "Dear Gift Elf/Santa" forms and envelopes for customers to fill out. Then mail the wish list to the listed friends and family of the customer. This works to actually double your traffic, making your customer happy for getting a wanted gift and their family happy for buying a great gift. If you don’t have actual “foot traffic”, you might want to create a direct-mailed postcard and have them sign up on your web site. Start this early so people can really take advantage!

3. Celebrate all the seasons of December. Natural product customers are diverse in their faith so celebrating their holiday is a special way to stand out as a company that cares. This year, Hanukkah falls between Dec. 8-15, Kwanzaa is Dec. 26-Jan. 1, Winter Solstice is Dec. 21 and Christmas Day is Dec. 25. Set up product displays and offer specials geared to special days. Choose a universal charity for yourself and customers to support during the season.

4. Light the holiday spirit in your sales team. The holiday season generally means long hours and mayhem for your sales team. Light their holiday spirit early by throwing a special party for them before the season starts and provide daily and weekly incentives for good customer service.

5. Keep customer service alive. Gift wrapping, answering the phone in a cheerful manner, providing knowledge about a certain product and other helpful services to customers should continue throughout the holiday season. Smiles guarantee return customers throughout the year.

Need help with your marketing planning for the holidays and 2005? Concerned Consumers are Seeking Alternatives to Drugs for Their Pain

Concerned Consumers are Seeking Alternatives to Drugs for Their Pain

The list of potentially dangerous side effects associated with the overuse of prescription and OTC pain relief drugs is growing, but what alternatives do consumers have?

Alpharetta, GA (PRWEB) January 25, 2005

The list of potentially dangerous side effects associated with the overuse of prescription and OTC pain relief drugs is growing, but what alternatives do consumers have?

Bruder Healthcare Company has introduced a new line of OTC products that deliver doctor recommended pain relief treatments without the risk of side effects or interference with prescription or OTC drugs. New THERMALON™ Microwave Activated Moist Heat Wraps and Sleeves represent a safe and easy way for consumers to reduce their total dependence on drugs for pain relief.

When microwaved for a minute, reusable THERMALON™ Microwave Activated Moist Heat Wraps and Sleeves safely deliver a moist heat therapy treatment. Moist heat penetrates deep quickly to increase blood flow, relax tight sore muscles and reduce painful inflammation. Medical professionals use moist heat treatments in clinics to relieve pain … now consumers can apply these same treatments safely and conveniently at home. The patented Orthobeads™ in THERMALON™ are self-hydrating and are specially formulated to remain odor and bacteria free. Adding water is never necessary. Anatomical designs make application easy while their portability allows normal activity during a recommended twenty-minute treatment. The unique pull-on Sleeves can also be used when Cold Therapy is prescribed or preferred. Use while exercising, pre or post sports and outdoor activities or before retiring. The sleeves help make prescribed exercises easier, more effective and far less painful. Economical to use, the soft and conformable wraps and sleeves are washable and feature a full one-year warranty.

Newly introduced HTA (Heat Therapy Activated) Pain Relief Spray is an all-natural, clinically proven topical analgesic specifically formulated for use with heat therapy. Popular pain relief ointments and patches in stores today are harsh, often smelly counter-irritants containing the warning “do not bandage or use with a heating pad”. HTA Pain Relief Spray is different … it has been formulated to enhance the proven effectiveness of medically recommended heat therapy. The natural extracts in HTA, when activated by heat, penetrate directly to the source of the pain. There is no waiting, no odor, no staining! HTA comes in an easy-to-use spray applicator.

Consumers now have a two new drug free alternatives to help manage their pain. With THERMALON™ and HTA they can use fewer pills; avoid dangerous electric wires, offensive odors, greasy ointments and expensive disposable patches.

Pharmaceutical Production in Hungary is Specialised in the Production of Generic Drugs with Nearly 20 Original Molecules Developed During the Last Decade

Pharmaceutical Production in Hungary is Specialised in the Production of Generic Drugs with Nearly 20 Original Molecules Developed During the Last Decade

Dublin (PRWEB) May 15, 2006

Research and Markets (http://www. researchandmarkets. com/reports/c36900 (http://www. researchandmarkets. com/reports/c36900)) has announced the addition of the Espicom Business Intelligence report “The Pharmaceutical Market: Hungary” to their offering

In May 2004, Hungary became a member of the European Union and is therefore allowed to trade freely within the EU, although restrictions have been imposed regarding pharmaceuticals.

Hungary represents one of the more advanced pharmaceutical markets of central Europe. The country has a strong tradition of pharmaceutical manufacturing and has always maintained a relatively high level of consumption; half of the adult population is on regular medication and 20% consumes more than five different drugs. Over the past few years, the government has introduced numerous policies regarding pharmaceutical pricing, in order to reduce the drugs budget deficit, but companies are still free to increase the prices of non-reimbursed drugs.

Pharmaceutical production in Hungary is specialised in the production of generic drugs. During the last decade, nearly 20 original molecules were developed. The main pharmaceutical companies were privatised in the period 1991-1996, starting with Chinoin. Gedeon Richter is controlled by foreign investors, whereas the majority share of equities in other companies are owned by foreign professional investors.

This in-depth pharmaceutical market report is ideal for executives wanting to understand the key drivers in pharmaceutical markets and have access to a wealth of statistical data. The report opens with an outlook section that provides analysis of the market, 5-year market forecasts, national data projections, market outlook and key developments such as regulation, pricing/reimbursement, intellectual property, health facilities and government policy. The report also provides extensive background information, population trends, health status, health expenditure, organisation & administration, hospital services, medical personnel, healthcare development, market access information, trade data for raw materials and finished products and essential industry contacts. Included with the report are 3 free quarterly updated outlook reports, enabling you to keep up to date with market developments for a year.

Association for Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists (ACDIS) Spearheads the Development of a Professional Certification

Association for Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists (ACDIS) Spearheads the Development of a Professional Certification

Almost 400 clinical documentation specialists gathered in Las Vegas, NV for the first national conference devoted to CDI professionals.

Marblehead, MA (PRWEB) June 19, 2008

Almost 400 clinical documentation specialists gathered in Las Vegas, NV for the first national conference devoted to CDI professionals. At the same time, a group of dedicated leaders and volunteers from their membership met to begin the process of developing a professional credential for this growing profession.

The mandate was a clear one - ACDIS members are looking for professional recognition, further definition of their competencies and skills, and a professional certification program and credential built upon both training and field experience. Over 50 highly qualified clinical documentation improvement professionals came forward to volunteer for the certification board. A final group of 12 members met for the first time in May to launch the research and assemble the resources necessary to build a certification qualification and testing process that is planned to go live in 2009.

The sponsor of the Las Vegas event as well as the new certification program is the Association for Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists (ACDIS) (www. cdi-association. com). ACDIS was launched in 2008 and is over 1,000 members strong and growing rapidly.

Association Director Brian Murphy commented, "The tremendous response we've gotten from CDI specialists to both the association and to the demand for a high quality professional certification program has been gratifying. The certification committee has already begun work in task forces assigned to the development of Core Competencies and the creation of a Professional Code of Ethics. The level of member involvement and engagement is clearly very high, and underscores the previously unmet need for this professional membership association."

The Core Competencies task force will be reaching out to the full membership to begin research that will assist in the development of the certification program. In addition, a separate task force is currently working to define a Professional Code of Ethics.

The Association's multidisciplinary membership comes from diverse backgrounds, including health information management/coding, nursing/case management, quality, and compliance. Early adopters of the organization expressed a desire for an association dedicated to bringing the various backgrounds together. Accurate clinical documentation affects patient care, regulatory compliance, physician/facility profiles, legal protection/defense, and reimbursement.

The May Association for Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists two-day conference is an annual event, and will be returning to Las Vegas in the spring of 2009.

More information about the development of the professional CDI specialist certification will be posted on the ACDIS website (http://www. cdi-association. com (http://www. cdi-association. com)) as the work of the certification board continues to progress. At this time, the standing certification board includes the following charter members:
Deborah Biskner, RHIA, CCS, clinical documentation specialist, Port Huron Hospital, MI  Jill Brocker, RN, MSN, CCS, director of quality services, Indiana Heart Institute  Margi Brown, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, director of coding quality and education, Community Health Systems, Brentwood, TN  Mary Beth Brown, RN, BSN, manager of clinical documentation improvement/utilization review, Moses Cone Health System  Gloryanne Bryant, RHIA, CCS, senior director of corporate coding/HIM compliance, San Francisco, CA  Tamara Hicks, RN, BSN, CCS, manager of care coordinator, North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, NC  Kathy Kerfoot, CPHQ, quality manager, St. Mary's Regional Medical Center, Enid, OK  Wanda Myers, RN, BSN, MA, CDS, clinical documentation specialist coordinator/coding and case mix analysis, Medstar  Mary Phelps, RHIA, CCS, CTR, CIC, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP  Cory Price, RN, BSN, clinical documentation specialist, Alegent Health, Immanuel Medical Center, Omaha, NE  Suzanne Rogers, CCS, RHIA, CPHQ, director, clinical data management, University of Texas Medical Branch  Lynne Spryszak, RN, coordinator, clinical documentation management program, Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Elk Grove Village, IL About The Association For Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists (ACDIS):
