"A beautiful life comes in many forms, and means different things to every person. To some, a beautiful life is a fulfilling relationship and a happy family life. To others, it is a career filled with passion and creativity. A beautiful life may also be a healthy and fit body, or a combination of many different things. The point is, what is important and “beautiful” to one person, may not be to another.

The Ciao Coaching philosophy encompasses both inner and outer “beauty”, as we believe the two go hand in hand. Our life coaching and image consulting programs are personalized to fit your life. Englewood, Colo. (PRWEB) January 5, 2009

Baxa Corporation has published the 2009 course dates for training at its STAR (Skills Training, Academics and Resources) Center. The STAR Center, a premier facility designed for cleanroom and pharmacy practice demonstration, is located at the company's headquarters south of Denver, Colorado. For 2009, Baxa and USP (United States Pharmacopeia) together bring you sixteen opportunities to attend their flagship course, Aseptic Processing and Compliance Tools for USP 797. This two-and-one-half-day seminar will be taught by industry experts and members of the USP 797 Sterile Compounding Committee. In addition a companion course, Safe Handling and Preparation of Hazardous Drugs, will be offered six times during the 2009 calendar year with professional faculty.

The first USP compliance class will be held January 28 - 30, 2009 with subsequent program dates running through November, 2009. The ACPE-accredited training is filled on a first-come, first-serve basis and the previous two years' session dates have sold out. Attendance in the STAR Center classes is limited to 20 participants to ensure resource availability, student-teacher ratios and the opportunity for hands-on experience in the cleanrooms.

Baxa, in association with USP, recommends the Aseptic Processing and Compliance Tools for USP 797 course to equip compounding professionals with core knowledge and skills toward USP 797 compliance. The current programming targets pharmacy and IV managers, as well as pharmacists and technicians with lead responsibility for compounding activities. The program provides value for any personnel compounding sterile preparations or implementing cleanroom principles and practices that comply with USP 797 and industry best practice. Course topics include cleanroom physical design and layout, engineering controls and airflow science, media fill testing and principles associated with workflow, staff training, cleaning, monitoring, validation and documentation.

The Safe Handling and Preparation of Hazardous Drugs course educates pharmacists, technicians, nurses and physicians on how to handle hazardous drugs safely, while complying with regulatory requirements and industry best practice. This ten-hour course covers critical topics including engineering controls required when compounding hazardous drugs, proper use of closed-system drug transfer devices (CSDTDs), procedures for handling hazardous drug spills, hazardous waste containment and disposal and regulatory compliance.

Baxa Corporation sponsors the STAR Center to further best practices in health-system pharmacy operations and facility design. The STAR Center brings together professional and industry partners to provide participants with a range of experiences in equipment, technology and processes. The STAR Center launched in fall 2006. Cretors Introduces New Hot Air Popcorn Machine Line for Theaters

Cretors Introduces New Hot Air Popcorn Machine Line for Theaters

Flo-Thru 80 Concession Equipment Provides Theaters Option of Serving Healthy Popcorn and Caramel Corn

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) March 27, 2008

C. Cretors and Company, the leading designer and manufacturer of food processing and concession equipment (http://www. cretors. com/) for over 120 years, introduces its Flo-Thru 80 Popper and Coater for theaters and large concession areas. The industry's only popcorn machine that enables the production of original popcorn and caramel corn on-site, the Flo-Thru 80 popcorn machine is a complete and compact production line for in-house operations.

Revolutionary concession equipment produces healthy caramel corn

An automatic continuous dry popcorn machine (http://www. cretors. com/), the Flo-Thru 80 Popper is equipped with Cretors patented hot air suspension system that eliminates the need for using fattening oils, such as coconut oil, in popping to create a healthier finished product. Instead, kernels are popped in a steady current of hot air where they are uniformly heated to the optimal popping temperature. Increasing the ease of use, the Flo-Thru 80 Popper is equipped with the industry's first digital temperature control, which eliminates the guesswork associated with popping corn by allowing the concession equipment operator to set an exact temperature for the best popping efficiency. With a production capacity of up to 80 lbs. of popcorn per hour, the Flo-Thru 80 popcorn machine is designed to meet high volume demands of popcorn and caramel corn.

Easy to use concession equipment accommodates highly trafficked areas

An ideal partner for the Flo-Thru 80 popcorn machine, the stainless steel Flo-Thru 80 Coater is equipped with a salt feed system and oil/slurry pump with spray and a coating drum that is driven by a digital control panel to ensure a consistently produced product every time. The digital control panel directs the coating drum to move in either a forward or reverse rotation, while also controlling the salt and pump speed, to ensure an even distribution of coating for caramel corn (http://www. cretors. com/) and other popcorn snacks. For ease of mobility, the Flo-Thru 80 Coater is equipped with locking swivel casters. Both the Flo-Thru 80 popcorn machine and Coater concession equipment are UL approved.

Padma Lakshmi and Dr. Tamer Seckin, MD, Launch Endometriosis Foundation of America

Padma Lakshmi and Dr. Tamer Seckin, MD, Launch Endometriosis Foundation of America

Nonprofit is dedicated to fighting for enhanced education, early diagnosis and treatment concerning "silent epidemic" that affects 10 million women and adolescent girls. Organization's first, annual, fundraising ball occurs April 20, 2009

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 15, 2009

Padma Lakshmi and Dr. Tamer Seckin today announce their partnership to form the nonprofit organization Endometriosis Foundation of America (EFA), Endometriosis Foundation of America (http://www. endofound. org). Endometriosis affects nearly 10 million women and adolescent girls in the United States and can cause debilitating menstrual periods, infertility and health concerns. Ms Lakshmi, an actress, author and host of Top Chef has been treated for this health condition by Dr. Tamer Seckin, MD, a laparoscopic surgeon and renowned endometriosis specialist, and together they have decided it's time to bring attention to this important issue. The EFA will make its formal debut during its first annual fundraising event, the "Blossom Ball", on Monday, April 20, 2009 in New York City set to include a silent auction, seated dinner and dancing to raise funds to help combat this "silent epidemic".

"Women are having hysterectomies, suffering from infertility and lifelong pain which could all be avoided with proper education about this frequently misdiagnosed disease. Endometriosis is completely treatable but most doctors don't even know how to look for it," says Ms. Lakshmi. "I went through years of chronic pain until I met Dr. Seckin who literally changed the quality of my life. I have been treated for the disease and I am now completely healthy and free from the pain and stress it caused and the effect it had on every part of my life. I owe this to Dr. Seckin and I feel I owe it to young women to educate them so that they don't have to go through what I did."

"Needlessly, proper care is stifled and suffering from this ailment (endometriosis) is widespread because of common, societal prejudices and 'taboo subject' notions, which can result in a woman or adolescent girl who doesn't have the language to describe troubling symptoms with a doctor. Frankly, there's misinformation in the medical community," says Dr. Seckin. "But endometriosis is treatable--even curable--if addressed early enough. Too often it may not be diagnosed until a decade after it begins."

Adds Dr. Seckin, "Whether it's our mother, sister, daughter or other loved one, we all know someone with endometriosis."

Dr. Seckin is one of the field's most highly regarded U. S. surgeons, with experience and skill to address the ailment. Through increased awareness and education among the general public and medical professionals as well as research initiatives and legislative advocacy, the Foundation is committed to improving affected individuals' lives by early endometriosis detection, intervention and treatment.

EFA is the first United States organization of its kind founded by a medical professional. Its inaugural is scheduled to occur Monday evening, April 20, 2009, at Prince George Ballroom. For info on the "First Annual Blossom Ball" go to Endometriosis Foundation of America-First Annual Blossom Ball (http://endofound2009.org/).

About Endometriosis and Treatment for It
During monthly menstruation, the female body based on hormonal fluctuations sheds the endometrium or uterine lining (the process commonly known as a "period"). In women who have endometriosis menstrual fluids leak back into the body in areas outside of the uterus, have no way to exit and accumulate on the bladder, top of the vagina or other nearby organs, leading to the development of scarring and fibroid-like nodules. This causes symptoms that vary from severe cramping to chronic pelvic pain, severe painful periods, infertility, and pain with sex, among additional complications.

Often women "manage" their discomfort for years with powerful painkillers and hormones, but these only mask symptoms of the condition. What's more, many patients are incorrectly informed by their doctors and treated for symptoms -- but not endometriosis, which consequently causes a long delay in treatment. This dangerous result has led to many "hit or miss" surgeries and thousands of unnecessary hysterectomies. Laparoscopic Excision Surgery (deep removal of all the disease) is one effective, less invasive option and is ideally performed by experienced, specialized surgeons with dedicated, multidisciplinary medical teams. The EFA will help create organized networks of specialists and support the establishment of endometriosis centers for excellence nationwide.

New Testing for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and Multiple Myeloma Patients

New Testing for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and Multiple Myeloma Patients

According to George Hollenberg, a leading NY-area pathologist and founder of Acupath Laboratories, Over the past decade, advances in cytogenetics testing have propelled researchers to an entirely new level of understanding where many cancers are concerned. Yet, even such an intricate testing process as conventional cytogenetics can have its limits, and scientists have found those limits in cytogenetics testing for two cancers in particular: Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) and Multiple Myeloma (MM). The good news is that another testing process called I-FISH (Interphase Fluorescence In-Situ Hybridization, aka Molecular Cytogenetics) can augment conventional cytogenetics testing in cases of CLL and MM, providing doctors and patients with significant missing data that can lead to more accurate diagnosis, prognosis and treatment decisions.

Plainview, NY (PRWEB) June 29, 2006

Over the past decade, advances in cytogenetics testing have propelled researchers to an entirely new level of understanding where many cancers are concerned.

“Conventional cytogenetic testing was a critical research breakthrough in the last 20-30 years, as it allowed the medical community to associate specific chromosome abnormalities (additions, deletions or translocations) with specific types of cancer,” explains Dr. George Hollenberg, M. D., a leading NY-area pathologist and founder of Acupath Laboratories. “From there, scientists have designed targeted treatments for chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) breast cancer, bladder cancer, and other leukemias and cancers.” Dr. Hollenberg notes that the limitations of conventional cytogenetics testing for CLL and MM lie in the types and numbers of cells that can be analyzed using the process, as well as the mode of study itself.

MM and CLL are both hematological cancers involving B-cells, a type of white blood cell or lymphocyte. In CLL, the cells are located primarily in the bloodstream, while in MM they are located mostly in bone marrow. As these malignant cells begin to proliferate, they crowd out normal blood production and often affect other healthy tissue and bone growth. While CLL usually progresses slowly and produces few symptoms in its early stages, MM is more aggressive and can have serious adverse effects on patient quality of life. The National Cancer Institute estimates that CLL is the most prevalent form of leukemia, with approximately 70,000 current cases in the U. S., while the American Cancer Society predicts 16,000 Americans will be diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma this year alone.

According to Dr. Hollenberg, the typical cytogenetic analysis, done using a light microscope, is completed on a total of 20 cells. “This testing can see a plethora of changes that may indicate that a certain cancer is present, has recurred, or is worsening. In Multiple Myeloma and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, however, these tell-tale signs of development or advancement may elude detection due to the nature of the cancer cells,” he explains. “Also, significant sub-microscopic changes may occur which are below the level of detection by conventional cytogenetics.”

On the other hand, I-FISH targets certain chromosomal defects known to be associated with different prognoses and that may very likely be missed by cytogenetic testing. What’s more, the I-FISH test can detect sub-microscopic changes, and can study up to 500 cells at once, dwarfing the 20 or so that are studied in an average cytogenetics test. Although I-FISH provides much more sensitivity, it cannot take the place of traditional cytogenetics testing, because each I-FISH procedure can only detect those changes for which it was designed to find. Dr. Hollenberg explains, “If the doctor suspects a certain problem, we can select DNA “probes” to use in the I-FISH assay to check for that specific problem. However, I-FISH will not find a host of other possible issues during that specific analysis.”

So the key to the most comprehensive and accurate testing in cases of Multiple Myeloma and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, according to Dr. Hollenberg, is twofold. “By combining traditional cytogenetics testing – which can detect at the microscopic level an array of chromosomal changes that indicate cancer development, recurrence or worsening – with I-FISH testing – which can identify certain changes that may not be seen by cytogenetics – we can give doctors and patients the information they need to make better decisions regarding treatment options and quality of life issues.

Acting on their own and out of compassion, Doctors Steve Ronco (Del Mar), Matt Hubbard (Clairemont), and Sandra Castro (Carlsbad), first went to the Pine Valley Fire Station where the fires were intense on both sides of the road, and where Poway had already been knocked out. They provided spinal adjustments to the approximately 30 firefighters, who were there, but the fire was moving quickly, and they were directed to Gillespie Field where the base camp was being set up. “When we first arrived, there was no organization in place yet, so we set up our tables on the dirt and began helping who we could,” said Ronco. “On Monday night, we went back to Gillespie Field and provided adjustments and massage to a long line of firefighters,” continued Ronco. “At one point that first night, I had counted 25 trucks. Many firefighters would come back to us periodically for repeat adjustments during the night, and within two more days, the number of trucks had grown ten fold. Many of the firefighters commented that they had never seen or felt as much support as this anywhere in the country ever before.”

Through the week, Ronco, a doctor of chiropractic with Del Mar Chiropractic Centre, continued to mobilize and lead incoming chiropractors and other volunteer healthcare professionals. “It just seemed that everyone kept turning to us for direction, so we gave it,” said Ronco. “There were so many people by Wednesday, that to help us be recognizable to the firefighters, I called my buddy, Grant Freeman of Electronic Printing Solutions, who graciously and very quickly printed up T-shirts for our chiropractic team.”

According to Ronco, 75% of the firefighters they treated had never had a chiropractic adjustment before. “At first, some were apprehensive, but once they saw their colleagues benefit and felt their bodies let go of the tension, many of them would return again and again in between their shifts,” said Ronco. “We adjusted a team of Chula Vista firefighters multiple times, and they were among the core group that was able to hold back the fire from getting Julian. That makes us feel pretty good!…..knowing that the more we helped them, the more effective they would be…and the safer they would be fighting the fire,” continued Ronco.

Chiropractic is a health care system that directly concerns itself with the nervous system and its relation to the function of the human body. This system is designed to keep your body working at the highest level possible, by removing interference (vertebral subluxations) that may inhibit or reduce the function of your nervous system, thus freeing up the body to increase its own level of health.

For more information about chiropractic services, contact Dr. Steve Ronco at Del Mar Chiropractic Centre, 858-481-1422.

Sleep With the Experts Webinar Series Starts July 1, 2009

Sleep With the Experts Webinar Series Starts July 1, 2009

The Bob, Carol, Ted and Alice of Natural Sleep. Free Webinar series on Natural Solutions for Insomnia, commencing July 1, 2009. World experts speak on the following topics: food additives and colorings that keep you awake, and wake you early in the morning. Repatterning neural pathways for sleep. How to use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to overcome anxiety. How to recognise and remove emotional holding patterns that keep you awake. Seratonin and melatonin. Solutions to stress. How to choose music for brain entrainment, deep listening, mind over pain. Emotional Freedom Technique to help you sleep.

Sydney, NSW (PRWEB) June 25, 2009

Are you finding it more difficult lately to fall asleep and stay asleep? Is your stress level the only thing trending up in the bear market? Are you sick and tired of reading about how not drinking coffee is going to solve the problem? Things only getting worse when you read that lack of sleep is effecting your weight, health, liver, heart, cancer, diabetes, depression, anxiety, blood pressure, life span? No wonder we can't sleep.

The use of sleeping pills is controversial, because they're addictive, less effective over time, cause grogginess in the morning, are blamed for some rather bizarre behaviours, are associated with anterograde amnesia, reduce the time it takes to fall asleep by 12.8 minutes compared with fake pills, and increase our sleep time by a rather pathetic 11.4 minutes. In fact, one controversial sleeping pill was the number 1 drug reported to the Adverse Medicine Events Line between September 2007 and February 2009.

Unfortunately, until now, the "natural solutions" have been limited to unpalatable herbs or teas that work for only a limited number of people. In response to this situation, Elizabeth Shannon of Sleepless No More has organised the "Sleep With The Experts" webinar series.

"Everything I've seen lately on sleep has been so negative, it just makes insomniacs more anxious and stressed, worrying about how their health is being affected", Shannon says. "So I've assembled a group of solution-based experts to finally put an end to the noise on insomnia." "It's practically based, and we'll have a bit of fun too", Shannon laughs.

The hour-long webinars will be held weekly on Wednesday nights at 7 pm, commencing July 1. This first series (of approximately 8 webinars) will be free to attend via the internet.

The webinar series will commence with the following experts:

Sue Dengate - Sue Dengate is a psychology graduate and author of the bestselling Fed Up series. Focused on the effects of food chemicals on children's behaviour, health and learning ability, her groundbreaking study on the behavioural effects of a common bread preservative was published in a medical journal in 2002. Together with her husband Dr Howard Dengate, a food scientist, they run the Food Intolerance Network. Dengate was nominated for Australian of the Year in 2005 and 2006.

Andrew Verity - Verity has integrated 35 years of practical experience in a wide range of healing modalities into his international Neuro-training group. He was president of IASK (International Association of Specialized Kinesiologists) for 6 years, and surprisingly has a very simple approach to many aspects of sleep disorders.

Nic Lucas - Practicing osteopath, international lecturer, medical journal founder and editor, presently lecturing at the University of Western Sydney while doing his doctorate. Lucas will talk about how he used Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to relieve his anxiety disorder.

Domenica Papalia - Pharmacist, researcher, and founder of Your Highest Potential. How emotions effect sleep. Papalia uses non-invasive techniques to recognise the root cause of holding patterns and help people move beyond them.

Angela Sciberras - Therapeutic musician (International Healing Musicians Program USA) and author. How to use rhythm, harmony, melody, brain entrainment and deep listening to bridge the gap between medicine and music.

Geraldine Gallagher - Past president of the NSW Kinesiology Association (5 times), international speaker, and author of the successful programs Creative Nutrition and Essence of Change. Seratonin, melatonin, solutions to stress including essences.

Rod Sherwin - Energy Therapist. Sleep solutions using Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or tapping).

And thankfully, with Elizabeth as the moderator no-one will get lost in technical jargon and 'medical-speak'.

To be included in the webinars, which are free (for this first series), provide your name and email address at http://www. sleeplessnomore. com (http://www. sleeplessnomore. com) - and you will be emailed with the webinar registration details closer to the event. (To attend the webinar you need broadband internet access, preferably with an audio USB headset.)

SiteRapture Announces Social Networking Websites List

SiteRapture Announces Social Networking Websites List

Internet's Most Comprehensive List of Social Networking Websites and Related-Information with over 300 Social Networks in over 40 Categories.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 8, 2009

Today, SiteRapture (http://www. siterapture. com (http://www. siterapture. com)), a vertical directory of websites and online services, announced the release of its official list of social networking websites (http://www. siterapture. com/categorymain. asp? CategoryID=1) and related information. SiteRapture offers a broad array of information related to social networking including a comprehensive listing of social networks by category and subcategory, information on the different types of networks, statistics and figures related to social networking, what to look for when selecting a service, feature definitions, and editor recommendations based on various attributes.

SiteRapture currently lists over 300 social networks in over 40 subcategories focusing on the following groups and topics: travel, high school students, college students, parents, business networking, +40 year-old adults, African-Americans, Latinos, children / teens, adult / pornography, race car fans & drivers, events and things to do, messaging, photos, models, books, art and artists, interior design, lawyers, media professionals, family, sports, cooking / wine, cars, collectors, movies, music, fashion, health, green / environmental issues, mobile phone users, shopping, gaming, life experiences and goals, social network creation, supernatural phenomena, affluent / wealthy individuals, technology products, virtual worlds, gay / lesbian, physicians / doctors, international / foreign.

"Social networking and user-generated content (UGC) continues to be the life blood of the Internet and new web-based applications." said SiteRapture Founder and CEO Michael D. Raeford, Jr. "SiteRapture aims to provide as much valuable, organized information as possible about social networking not only to educate consumers about the space, but to help navigate through the myriad of social networking websites available on the web."

According to eMarketer, there were over 94 million consumers of user-generated content in 2007 and this number is expected to grow to over 130 million in 2012. Also, ad spending on social networks is expected to top $1.6 billion by 2013. The amount of web content related to social networking is continuing to grow exponentially. For example, if a web surfer wants to find a social network and conducts a search for "social networking websites" using Google and Yahoo! search engines, 400,000 and 2.4 million search results are generated, respectively. These search results contain mainly irrelevant, inadequate information spread out across multiple sources and does not provide an efficient way to find a specific social network based on the user's needs.

"By combining research content with an organized directory structure for website listings, we hope to help navigate through the social networking clutter on the web," said Raeford.

In addition to social networking websites, SiteRapture lists over 3,000 websites and online services in over 100 categories including video sharing websites (http://www. siterapture. com/categorymain. asp? CategoryID=2), digital music websites, social bookmarking websites, and other popular and niche web categories. SiteRapture provides various types of information for each website listed including website reviews (http://www. siterapture. com), similar websites, tutorials / how-tos, and other relevant information.

Y2K To Herald a Medical Revolution: Three Thousand Physicians and Scientists Proclaim that Immortality Is Within Our Grasp

Y2K To Herald a Medical Revolution: Three Thousand Physicians and Scientists Proclaim that Immortality Is Within Our Grasp

December 21, 1999/CHICAGO (PRWEB) December 23, 1999 -

By the close of 2001, humankind will realize numerous scientific and medical phenomena that will revolutionize the delivery of healthcare in the next five years. As a result, the quantity, as well as quality, of the human lifespan will forever be changed for the better.

At the Seventh International Congress on Anti-Aging Medicine and Biomedical Technologies, hosted by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), December 11-13, 1999, three thousand physician and scientist attendees listened eagerly as forty lecturers from the most prestigious educational, research, commercial, private, and government institutions presented clinical findings and novel theories that will usher in the Ageless Society: a time when no one asks "how old are you?" as the notion of birthdays quickly becomes outmoded and irrelevant.

According to Dr. Ronald M. Klatz, M. D., D. O., President of the A4M, author, medical futurist, and founding physician of the anti-aging movement, the next two years hold enormous promise for the realization of boundless youth and vitality:

~ Fleets of miniature robotic warriors that will fend off disease on a cellular level, collect information to diagnose cellular functions, deliver site - and time-specific medications to target tissues, and -- eventually, support the biological performance of the body by protecting against otherwise fatal injury.

~ Baldness will be beaten -- with laboratory-based hair cloning already a success in human test subjects, genetic therapies that will eliminate male pattern baldness are soon to become widely available to the general public.

~ Alzheimer's Disease will be halted -- genetic therapies, including manipulation of the predisposing Apolipoprotein-E factor, will become available to battle this life-draining disease within the next eighteen months.

~ Age-related vision loss will be counteracted by implanted biochips that will stimulate tissue growth to slow or reverse macular degeneration as well as stimulate the visual center of the brain to create artificial or enhance eyesight.

~ Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) will be reversed -- based on new research reported from the University of California, it is anticipated that implantable biochips and nerve growth factors that stimulate repair and regrowth of nerve tissue that will act as a bridge in the recovery from SCI will be a reality perhaps within the next twenty-four months.

~ Environmentally-triggered illnesses will be banished -- the quest for therapeutic interventions via dietary modification, nutritional supplementation, hormonal manipulation, and detoxification techniques will surmount the initiation of illnesses currently resulting from food and environmental triggers. Diseases such as lupus, multiple sclerosis, irritable bowel syndrome, celiac disease, epilepsy, and psychiatric disorders will succumb to the new effective therapies based on food and environmental toxin neutralization techniques.

~ A unified knowledge base on aging -- at the Seventh International Congress, the A4M proudly launched its premier research effort, LEXCORE (the Life Extension Core of Information). With this project, participating physicians and medical centers will pool their data in order to establish a worldwide database that will permit analysis for therapeutic outcomes that validate the emerging science of anti-aging medicine. Much akin to the construct of the Framingham Heart Study, which is currently regarded as the most significant epidemiological health study in medical history, responsible for our present understanding of heart disease, stroke, and vascular disease risk factors, LEXCORE, in the next five years, is predicted to surpass the breadth and depth of data contained in the Framingham project. LEXCORE, which will begin to receive its first data sets in March 2000, will yield profound insights into human aging that will mark the emergence of anti-aging medicine as a preeminent primary mainstream healthcare approach..

 A new societal order -- in 1999, the world is home to 100,000 centenarians (people age 100+). By the year 2050, that number is predicted to rise steeply to 2.2 million. With such a trend of overall extended life span, Dr. Ronald Klatz predicts an evolution towards the Ageless Society. By living past the ripe young age of 120, thanks to the advancements of longevity science, the notion of retirement will be abandoned. In its place, humankind will welcomingly replace three to four careers per lifetime, with ample leisure opportunities to enjoy along the way. This new societal order, along with the potential for practical immortality -- lifespans of 200 years and beyond -- is within our grasp.

An organization with a membership of 8000 physicians and scientists from fifty-five countries, the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is the sole medical society dedicated to the advancement of therapeutics related to the science of longevity medicine. Please visit www. worldhealth. net, the official website of the A4M, receiving over one million hits monthly and rated in the Lycos Top 5% Directory and Top 15 Medical Websites by Luckman's Internet Guide.

You are invited to secure Press Credentials to the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine's next scientific program, taking place 22-23 July 2000 in Chicago, IL. Please fax your request on station or publication letterhead to the contact listed below.

Regulating Sex Toys In Canada: A CBC Radio 1 Interview with Online Sex Shop

Regulating Sex Toys In Canada: A CBC Radio 1 Interview with Online Sex Shop

CBC Radio 1 interviews online sex toys marketer for information about Canadian MP Carolyn Bennett's proposition to regulate sex toys labels and packaging. The European Union has already enforced strict regulations on the labeling of adult toys and even bans some that do not meet inspection standards. This would take a toll on the multi-million dollar adult toy industry, however it is a price to pay for the better, according to Hot G Vibe Adult Toys Inc.

(PRWEB) December 23, 2009

CBC Radio 1's "Safe Sex Toys" special edition featured an interview with the Montreal-based online sex shop, Hot G Vibe (http://twitter. com/hotgvibe). The intention of this interview was to see whether or not Canadian sex toy manufacturers would agree with MP Carolyn Bennett’s intention of regulating the package and labels of adult toys across Canadian sex stores.

The increased awareness of public discourses surrounding “Going Green” in North American cities is leading to innovative propositions for further environmental and health regulations.

In Canadian politics, these issues have become a grave concern for the Liberal party, particularly for party member Carolyn Bennett (http://www. carolynbennett. ca/). Being a former physician herself, Bennett focuses a lot of her attention to public health.

In one of her latest letters to the Ministry of Health, Bennett proposed a law to implement a certified inspection label on the packaging of sex toys sold in Canada.

Chemicals like phthalates have traditionally been blended in with silicone and plastic to enhance a toy’s properties such as better flexibility and a more realistic feel. However, recent studies have shown that phthalates cause several health problems. Since then, these substances have been banned in children’s toys in most countries.

In a recent CBC Radio (http://www. cbc. ca/radio/) 1 interview, talk show host Steven Rukavina asked Hot G Vibe’s Marketing Director Geoffrey Mason what the company thought about Bennett’s proposal. “I think in the entire industry, it would affect it greatly,” Says Mason, “As for us, we’ve removed phthalates and do not purchase toys with phthalates in them so for us it wouldn’t be a problem.”

Mason suggests that if the law passes, the entire infrastructure and regulation of the Canadian sex toys market would undergo serious changes. Tight regulations would cause an increase in prices and banning of specific products. However, Hot G Vibe would not feel the hit.

Hot G Vibe manufactures its own products that follow a strict manufacturing protocol. Its main product is a versatile vibrating ring that uses a mercury-free battery and the highest quality silicone. The goal of having tight restrictions on the toy is to meet a higher standard of customer satisfaction. This business strategy also enhances the product and company's image.

Since there are no regulations on sex toys in Canada, it could be a good idea to start doing it. The European Union already enforces strict regulations on the labeling of adult toys and even bans toys that contain harmful chemicals like phthalates (http://www. cancer. ca/canada-wide/prevention/specific%20environmental%20contaminants/phthalates. aspx) and PVC.

In an economic recession, it is the best time for companies to start making changes and becoming proactive as new markets open up. Hot G Vibe has shown that even if it costs slightly more to make a better product, it pays off in the end.

To inform visitors about different toys and to educate them about safe sex, Hot G Vibe introduced a sex education section on their website. It is there where visitors can gather information from the experts.

“People are becoming more aware of what they’re consuming, so giving them more value in what they’re buying is what really counts,” confirms Sacha Shein, Public Relations Director for Hot G Vibe, “We strongly advocate toy users to buy sex toys responsibly and to be more aware of what is safe and what isn’t. Because there are no label regulations on the packages, companies can get away with putting anything they want on them”.

Alabama Tells State Employees to Slim Down Or Else! Research Proven DESIGNER WHEY® Protein Products Offer Healthy Dieting Solution

Alabama Tells State Employees to Slim Down Or Else! Research Proven DESIGNER WHEY® Protein Products Offer Healthy Dieting Solution

Combined with Regular Exercise and Proper Nutrition DESIGNER WHEY Protein Products Help Convert Fat to Lean Muscle Mass

Carlsbad, CA (Vocus) September 25, 2008

Controversy has always been part of state politics, especially during combative election seasons. This year Alabama's State Employees' Insurance Board recently passed an initiative to begin charging a $25 monthly fee to workers who are considered obese. The landmark decision comes on the heels of their decision to charge workers who smoke. Both lightning rod decisions impact the pocketbooks of the nearly 40,000 Alabama state employees.

Getting back in the gym and erasing years of bad eating habits is never easy. Losing large amounts of weight because your job and loss of income depends on it is even harder. DESIGNER WHEY, America's #1 Selling Protein*, is pleased to help the state workers of Alabama retake control of their lives.

"With a lagging economy and everyday workers struggling to make ends meet it is more important than ever to not have money taken out of wallets by making the choice to live healthier," said David Jenkins, Founder and Chief Executive Officer for DESIGNER WHEY. Teen Gastric Lap Band - Medical Tourism Corporation Assists 13 Year Old Get Weight Loss Surgery in Mexico

Teen Gastric Lap Band - Medical Tourism Corporation Assists 13 Year Old Get Weight Loss Surgery in Mexico

Medical Tourism Corporation helps 13 years old US teen from New York Jesse Miller have a successful laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding surgery in Mexico. Returning today from the medical trip, Jesse & his mother Silvia share their experience & thoughts on the Mexico lap band trip. Weight loss surgery for adolescents below 16 years is still not approved by the FDA in the USA.

Fresh Meadows, NY (PRWEB) August 27, 2008

Thirteen-year-old Jesse Miller returns home today after having a gastric lap band surgery done in Tijuana, Mexico. By doing this, he becomes one of the very rare American teenagers who have undergone lap band surgery.

In the U. S., no one under 16 has had a gastric lap band. But this didn't bother Jesse's mother much about visiting Mexico for the procedure: "Most parents don't realize what their obese children go through. I was obese as a child and I know what it means. I did not want my son to suffer the same tribulations of being overweight," she says.

"Jesse weighed 320 pounds and would have gained 50 to 75 additional pounds in the next six months, and that would have affected his health a lot. If they waited to get the procedure done in the USA, they would have to go through a lengthy process of medical research that would have taken months or even years. Jesse couldn't afford to wait that long," thought Silvia, his mother.

For Jesse, cost was not the reason for going out of the country. Although, such a surgery in the U. S. would have cost them about three to four times that of what they paid in Mexico.

An entrepreneur from New York, Silvia had realized that bariatric surgery was the only option for her teenager. "They had tried all other means of weight loss including the Atkins diet, vegan diets, Weight Watchers, controlling portion sizes, etc., with only temporary success. The few pounds that were lost were gained back in no time. And this could be because Jesse may have got the obesity gene from her," believes Silvia.

Silvia herself had undergone the gastric lap band surgery in 2003. The procedure, done in a New York Hospital, changed her life for the better. She says she went from an unmanageable 240 pounds, to an incredible 170 pounds after the surgery. Post-surgery, she formulated and launched her own line of gastric bypass supplements (http://www. medicaltourismco. com/weight-loss/vitamins-minerals-gastric-band-bypass-sleeve. php), which are now recommended by a number of top bariatric surgeons.

Dr. Christine Ren, Associate Professor of Surgery at NYU School of Medicine, and a leading lap band surgeon in the United States, suggested Jesse consider the gastric lap band procedure in Mexico (http://www. medicaltourismco. com/weight-loss/mexico-lap-band-surgery-cost. php). Silvia and her husband did not delay any more, despite many people, including friends and family, calling her crazy. Even up to the last moment before boarding the airplane, relatives, friends, and acquaintances told her not to proceed. But Silvia knew surgeons and medical professionals in Mexico. Hence, she was very confident of the quality of medical care in Mexico.

It was smooth sailing from then on, thanks to Medical Tourism (http://www. medicaltourismco. com/), Silvia says. "Medical Tourism Corporation did a very good job in terms of facilitating the trip. The communication was fast and clear. There were no surprises. Special needs for the teen lap band surgery were handled very well."

'The private suite at Hospital Angeles, Tijuana (http://www. medicaltourismco. com/mexico-hospitals/hospital-angeles-tijuana-mexico. php) is beautiful; it looks like a hotel and the people there are wonderful. Also, Dr. Lopez Corvala (http://www. medicaltourismco. com/mexico-hospitals/dr-juan-antonio-lopez-corvala. php) and his team are excellent, and they by far exceeded my expectations,' she says. Silvia, her husband, and their 14-month old second child accompanied Jesse to Mexico for the operation. The Hospital is about 15 minutes drive from the U. S.-Mexico border. More than 50% of the weight loss patients here are from the U. S.. Most patients fly to the San Diego, Calif. airport and drive down to the hospital.

The surgery is over now, and Jesse says, "I am doing perfectly well; it went better than I expected." Comparing her own lap band experience in the U. S. to that of her teen son's in Mexico, Silvia says, "The hospital in Mexico had far better service, better patient rooms, and overall the hospital was nicer. Also, Jesse had far less pain than she had during her lap band experience in the U. S."

Silvia is full of hope for young Jesse. "I want Jesse to go from 320 pounds to 220 pounds in the next one year. The weight loss surgery will help him get his self esteem back and will also allow him to be more involved in school activities."

"Gastric lap band for teens (http://www. medicaltourismco. com/medical-tourism/gastric-lap-band-as-a-weight-loss-surgery-option-for-children-teens/) is a great option and I would encourage other parents, who are unable to find a non-surgical solution to their obese teenagers' weight problem, to go for it as it would be a life-changing experience. It will help their children regain confidence, health, and high self-image," Silvia continued.

The Medical Tourism Corporation works with a number of top hospitals and doctors around the world facilitating many different type of medical treatments, including bariatrics, orthopedics, general surgery, cardiology, neurosurgery and more. The medical tourism company (http://www. medical-trip. com/) facilitates lap band in Belgium (http://www. medical-trip. com/the-benefits-of-getting-your-lap-band-done-in-belgium/), Mexico, Costa Rica, India and Thailand.

New Affordable Eco Friendly Mattresses Offered by Home and Bedroom Furniture

New Affordable Eco Friendly Mattresses Offered by Home and Bedroom Furniture

As buyers seek Eco Friendly Mattresses, Home and Bedroom is offering consumers a way to save on Environmentally Friendly Bedding. Offering both Memory Foam Mattresses and Latex Mattresses, they want to make comfortable and healthy bedding affordable to all.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) March 18, 2010

Home and Bedroom Furniture has introduced a line of Eco Friendly Memory Foam Mattresses that are extremely affordable. This will open up new possibilities to individuals who thought they couldn't afford the health, comfort and environmental benefits of an eco-conscious night's sleep. The Discount Bedroom Furniture Retailer has just launched the Eco Splendor line which is made in the United States. These mattresses are manufactured using a sealed baking process that has zero emissions. They join Home and Bedroom Furniture's other environmentally friendly bedding and Organic Mattresses.

According to the International Sleep Products Association spokesperson, the average price of a mattress in 2007 was $600. Since then, that lofty price point has risen even higher. While overall sales of bedding shipments declined in 2009, "the average unit selling price posted a 2.6 percent increase," the association reported. In the quest for a good night's sleep, some Americans are even paying as much as $20,000 on luxury, all-natural mattresses, the "Washington Post" has reported.

What sets these eco-aware mattresses apart from traditional ones? Designed with ecologically sound principles in mind, they offer stress-reducing support and a breathable memory foam surface, unlike older forms of Memory Foam. They also neutrally align the position of the body while sleeping, thereby relieving not only much of the physical pressure and stress that so often cause sleepless nights as well as morning aches and pains.

Eco Splendor joins Home and Bedroom's other Eco Friendly manufacturers, including Keetsa Mattresses and Natura Mattresses. Eco conscious individuals who would like to get a better night's sleep without breaking the bank can learn more at Home and Bedroom's Online Store at http://www. home-and-bedroom. com].

Kushi, Associate Director for Etiology and Prevention Research at Kaiser Permanente. A question and answer period will follow.

About The China Study

The China Study conclusively demonstrates the link between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Referred to as the "Grand Prix of epidemiology" by The New York Times, this study examines more than 350 variables of health and nutrition with surveys from 6,500 adults in 65 counties, representing 2,500 counties across rural China and Taiwan. While revealing that proper nutrition can have a dramatic effect on reducing and reversing heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and obesity, this study calls into question the practices of many of the current dietary programs, such as the Atkins diet, that enjoy widespread popularity in the West. The impact of the politics of nutrition and the efforts by food industry lobbyists on the creation and dissemination of public information on nutrition will also be discussed.

About Dr. Campbell

T. Colin Campbell, PhD, is the project director of the China-Oxford-Cornell Diet and Health Project (the China Study), a 20-year study of nutrition and health. He is a Jacob Gould Schurman Professor Emeritus of nutritional biochemistry at Cornell University. In more than 40 years of research he has received more than 70 grant-years of peer-reviewed research funding and authored more than 300 research papers. He lives in Ithaca, New York.

About Dr. Kushi

Lawrence H. Kushi, ScD, is Associate Director for Etiology and Prevention Research, Division of Research, Kaiser Permanente. Internationally recognized for his expertise in nutritional epidemiology, Dr. KushiÂ’s research interests have focused on the role of food and nutrition in the development and prevention of coronary artery disease and breast and other cancers. Dr. Kushi is also is the second son of Michio and Aveline Kushi, the foremost proponents of macrobiotics and leaders in the development and acceptance of unconventional and lifestyle approaches to cancer. Dr. Kushi is collaborating with the Pine Street Foundation on the Pine Street Survival Study, a 10-year follow-up study of people with breast, lung, and colon cancers treated with an integrative vitamin/herbal protocol in combination with standard chemotherapy.

Corporate Whistle Blower Center Says There Are Huge Rewards For Whistle Blowers Who Have Proof Of Securities, Medicare, Or Tax Fraud

Corporate Whistle Blower Center Says There Are Huge Rewards For Whistle Blowers Who Have Proof Of Securities, Medicare, Or Tax Fraud

The Corporate Whistle Blower Center is saying, "if an employee of a fortune 500 company, any type of healthcare organization, or government contractor has very specific, and provable information about shreholder fraud, overbilling the tax payer, or tax evasion, there can be gigantic rewards for the whistle blower. The key is the proof has to be really easy to understand, and it has to be new information." Medicare, or Medicaid fraud cost the US taxpayers $60 billion dollars each year, securities fraud, or Fortune 500 companies lying to Wall Street costs shareholders tens of billions of dollars each year, and major US tax evasion is estimated to cost the US taxpayers in excess of $300 billion dollars per year. There are specific federal whistle blower programs that cover these types of reward programs. Qui Tams cover most types of federal over billing, including Medicare fraud, or contractors over billing the federal Govrnment. Among the many innovations introduced in the massive Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act enacted this past July are the new whistleblower provisions, designed to encourage employees and others to report securities law violations to the SEC, and the IRS has a reward program for major tax fraud, or evasion. There are potentially huge rewards for individuals who possess this type of information. The Corporate Whistle Blower Center says, there is a huge catch, "not only does the information have to be fresh----but if you go public with the information, in most cases you have just blown your chance, for what could be a huge reward. Call us, and we will explain." For more information potential whistle blowers can contact the Corporate Whistle Blower Center anytime at 866-714-6466, or they can contact the group via its web site at http://CorporateWhistleblowerCenter. Com

(Vocus/PRWEB) November 16, 2010

The Corporate Whistle Blower Center says, "there are thousands of individuals in the US, who possess provable information about massive over billing of the government, of securities law violations, where big companies lie to their shareholders, or people who have the party pictures on major tax evasion, but out of fear-they say nothing. We intend to take the fear out of the equation." The group says, "if an executive of a Fortune 500 company, a healthcare company, or an individual has knowledge of massive tax fraud, we will explain the process, we will assemble the best legal team in the nation, but they key is not to say anything before you talk to us-premature public disclosure could wreck your chances for a reward." The Corporate Whistle Blower Center says, "we are looking for individuals who have the complete set of party pictures, and it has to be big-in the millions-to be worth your time, or ours. If you possess this type of information we will build the best possible legal team around you to advance your claim, and we will carefully explain the process to you, with your protection being our number one goal." For more information individuals who possess significant information about government over billing fraud, securities violations, and or massive tax fraud can contact the Corporate Whistle Blower Center anytime at 866-714-6466, or they can contact the group via their web site at http://CorporateWhistleblowerCenter. Com

So What Types Of Whistle Blowers Could Qualify For Huge Rewards?

The Corporate Whistle Blower Center says, "healthcare executives, or administrators probably have the best access to massive Medicare, or Medicaid fraud. Unfortunately rather than saying something about it-they say nothing. What they don't know is because more often than not the fraud is in the tens of millions of dollars, they could become a millionaire-provided the proof is substantial-and the information is fresh-never previously reported." The other types of significant whistle blower opportunities have now been made available by the Whistle Blower provisions of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The group says, "is your CEO, or CFO lying to your shareholders, or to Wall Street about under reported liability, or profitability? Dodd-Frank allows for lucrative rewards for this type of information-again if its 100% provable, and if the information has never been previously disclosed." The Corporate Whistle Blower Center says, "when it comes to Whistle Blowers cashing in-there are so many opportunities-including Defense Contractors fleecing the Defense Department, contractors at superfund sites over billing the government for work never done, massive tax fraud on the part of major corporations, or individuals." They say, "if you are aware of any type massive over-billing scheme involving Medicare, or Medicaid, if you can prove your CEO, or CFO lied to Wall Street, or if you have inside information on massive tax fraud, call us, and we will try our best to explain the process." For more information potential whistle blowers can contact the Corporate Whistle Blower Center anytime at 866-714-6466, or they can contact the group via their web site at http://CorporateWhistleBlowerCenter. ACTIVCARD DIGITAL SIGNATURE AND SMART CARD-BASED ID SOLUTION RECEIVES EEMA AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN SECURE ELECTRONIC BUSINESS

SpainÂ’s Public Works Organization Re-Engineers Plan Approval Process Using ActivCard Gold Smart Card Middleware to Bridge Security and Cost Savings

Fremont, California and Staines, UK – October 9, 2003 – ActivCard (NASDAQ: ACTI, a leading global provider of Secure Digital Identity and Authentication solutions, today announced that EEMA (the independent European association for e-Business) has honoured ActivCard with its 2003 Award for Excellence in Secure Electronic Business. The award recognizes the Spanish Ministry of Public Works’, Colegio de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos (CICCP), implementation of the ActivCard Gold multi-application smart card-based authentication and digital signature software solution.

“This is precisely the kind of project that deserves acclaim,” commented EEMA’s chairman David Goodman. “The ActivCard – CICCP project combines innovation, pioneering technology and demonstrable business benefits that exemplify the spirit of the EEMA Award for Excellence in Secure Electronic Business. Furthermore, implementing secure cryptographic applications with the portability of a smart card, addresses a critical need in the engineering sector by providing support for multiple computing platforms and a widely dispersed membership.”

CICCP sought to provide its member engineers with an efficient and secure electronic signature solution to expedite the plan review and approval process for public works projects throughout the 19 provinces of Spain. In keeping with its mission of ensuring safe and secure transportation, communications, energy and port construction, the organization chose ActivCard to secure the foundation of their smart card-based ID card and business process improvement project. The 20,000 CICCP engineers will be issued a photo ID smart card in the form of a membership badge that consolidates their identity credentials and stores their individual digital certificate private keys.

“Our CICCP engineers handle over 20 million plan review cycles per year, and the previous system of paper-based signing of blueprints had proven to be cumbersome and time consuming. A single bridge construction project, for instance, would typically require 12 copies of the plans and 8000 pages that needed a separate signature and physical stamp from the CICCP-certified engineer,” stated Emilio Marin, chief technology officer of CICCP. Â“With ActivCard client software, our users simply insert their smart card into a reader and the approval process is documented instead via an x.509 certificate-based digital signature embedded with Adobe PDF documents and condensed into one CD or DVD. We have also dramatically reduced the space required to physically store project plans, and anticipate that our initial technology investment will result in a savings of over $90 million in the first year alone.”

ActivCard Gold smart card middleware installed on the desktop ensures the secure communication of the PKI transaction, and enables the private keys to be generated on the card rather than on the vulnerable hard drive. By storing the private keys within the secure cryptographic environment of the smart card chip, organizations deploying the ActivCard digital signature solutions gain the three benefits of:

Enhanced Security with ActivCard reinforcing the fundamental security of PKI by requiring two-factor user authentication to access the private keys for digital signature;

Mobility of the credit-card sized smart card that ensures a userÂ’s digital signature credentials are portable for both local or remote use with any PC or laptop that has ActivCard Gold client software;

Non-repudiation for documenting legal approval and affirming that transactions are valid binding, and irrevocable, since the keys used for digital signature remain under the sole control of the user securely stored in the smart card.

Interfacing transparently with ActivCard Gold, ActivCard partner ipsCA has developed a digital signature plug-in, U-Sign PDF, based on certificate technology from Microsoft 2000 CA, for Adobe Acrobat software.

“We’re a non-profit organization with members dispersed across a large geographic area, and using a diversity of computing platforms,” added Emilio Marin of CICCP. “We’re committed to delivering technology solutions that optimise the time and skills of our engineers. ActivCard Gold is the only solution that allows us to offer a uniform smart card software and digital signature solution that’s effective across the IT infrastructure of 20,000 CICCP members – regardless of whether they do their work on Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, or Sun Solaris. ActivCard’s ease of installation and convenience has enabled us to quickly and efficiently deploy to 4000 users already.”

“ActivCard Gold enables organizations to meet the requirements of digital signature legislation and industry-initiatives which are driving the adoption of paperless business processes,” said Marc Hudavert, ActivCard vice president of EMEA sales. “Global recognition of digital certificates and PKI as valid and efficient methods of completing legal agreements and commercial transactions is growing across governments, enterprise, healthcare, and financial services. The CICCP project illustrates the power of smart card-based solutions to electronically sign documents and forms with the combined benefits of mobility, reduced cost and security.”

More detail about the solution is included in the full Case Study document available at: www. activcard. com/digital_signature_casestudy. pdf (http://www. activcard. com/digital_signature_casestudy. pdf )

Lewisham Primary Care Trust Launches Text Message Appointment Reminders

Lewisham Primary Care Trust Launches Text Message Appointment Reminders

Service aims to reduce missed appointments by 25% over 12 months.

London (PRWEB) July 15, 2006

Lewisham Primary Care Trust has launched iPLATO Patient Care Messaging at GP surgeries throughout Lewisham. Patients at Morden Hill Surgery, Vesta Road Surgery, Muirkirk Road Surgery, Wells Park Practice, Brockley Road Surgery, Rushey Green Group Practice and the Kingfisher Surgery will receive appointment reminders and health information directly to their mobile phones. These practices became involved in this new service because they have higher levels of patients who do not attend appointments.

To access the service, which is free of charge, the patients will have to register their mobile phone number at their surgery. This will be the largest deployment of iPLATO Patient Care Messaging to date in the United Kingdom. Leaflets with further information are available at all those GP practices involved.

The Imperial College of London recently estimated that missed appointments ("Did-not-attends") cost the NHS approximately £789 million per year. This study also suggested that the NHS could save £240 - £370 million per year by launching text appointment reminders throughout England.

"Mobile patient services are the way forward in Lewisham", said Simon Gosney, Minor Illness Service Improvement Facilitator at Lewisham PCT. "We have an ethnically and socially very diverse population. A vast majority already uses the mobile to run their daily lives. I believe that text messaging to remind them about their appointments is a perfect first step towards building a ‘mobile relationship’ with them. In the next 12 months we aim to reduce missed appointments by 25% from where we are today and get as many patients as possible onto the system as quickly as possible."

Lewisham Primary Care Trust chose iPLATO for its long experience in UK primary care. Patient Care Messaging is functional and secure. It improves service without adding extra work for healthcare staff and integrates seamlessly with existing systems used by GPs to book appointments and clinics. In addition to appointment reminders, GPs will use Patient Care Messaging to create and manage text campaigns to remind patients about flu-jabs and childhood immunisations, which are an important issue in Lewisham. The service is operational in ten other Primary Care Trusts where it has dramatically increased operational efficiency and the quality of care.

"Lewisham Primary Care Trust has proved to be innovative and forward-thinking by introducing Patient Care Messaging," said Tobias Alpsten, Managing Director of iPLATO. "It is a borough that faces many challenges and we support the PCT not only with our technology but, more importantly, with our unparalleled experience in delivering radical improvements to cost efficiency and quality of care."

Lewisham Primary Care Trust will be reviewing the effectiveness of the Text Messaging Service in March 2007, before recommending it to other GP practices in Lewisham.

NPI Wins Healthcare IT Summit 2010 Innovation Award

NPI Wins Healthcare IT Summit 2010 Innovation Award

Category of “Best Demonstration of Value/ROI” for Healthcare Providers Reflects NPI’s Spend Management Mission

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) December 8, 2010

NPI, a spend management services firm focused on delivering savings in IT, telecom, transportation and utilities, today announced it has been named a winner of the Healthcare IT Summit 2010 Innovation Award in the category of “Best Demonstration of Value/ROI – Provider.” The awards are a proven springboard to increased brand awareness and product credibility in the healthcare market.

NPI was honored with this award for its innovative approach to making healthcare IT budgets go farther. During the Summit, NPI met with attending CIOs and shared best practices for reducing the cost of IT purchases – hardware, software, infrastructure and services – resulting in savings that can fund other IT projects or go straight to the bottom line.

“We are grateful for this recognition and believe it’s a reflection of the most important IT challenges facing today’s healthcare CIOs. This group is under tremendous budget pressure while at the same time striving to meet regulatory IT requirements and leverage new technology to improve patient care. NPI’s proven spend management services help healthcare organizations across the country meet these challenges,” said Jon Winsett, CEO of NPI.

The awards were presented at the Summit held November 14-16 at the Gaylord National Resort Hotel & Convention Center in Washington, DC. The Healthcare IT Summit 2010 brought senior IT executives from healthcare payer and provider organizations together with industry analysts and leading and emerging healthcare vendors. The event embraced market issues, trends and solutions including new healthcare government regulations and the integration of new technologies. The business intensive format includes analyst-led sessions, vendor-led keynotes, private boardroom appointments, payer and provider breakout sessions, a Solution Showcase of exhibitors, as well as networking functions.

The Healthcare Innovation Awards are the only awards in the channel voted on solely by the attending IT decision makers who directly influence their companies’ and their peers’ technology buying decisions. After three days of boardroom presentations and one-on-one meetings, the decision-makers vote on the products and services presented at the event.

The Healthcare Innovation Awards covered nine key categories – spanning technology, market potential, and ROI – leading up to Best of Show. “The Innovation Award winners are selected by senior IT executives at each event, and honor the vendors with the most exceptional solutions,” said Robert DeMarzo, Sr. Vice President of Strategic Content at Everything Channel. “Congratulations to all of the winning companies. They have demonstrated that they deliver high-quality solutions and have many satisfied customers and prospects.”
