Last is the Sea Marsh Course, which is my favorite. With length not a factor and very wide fairways, I recommend this course if you want to feel good about your golf game when you leave the course.

Dr. Davis proposes the following recommendations for women to manage their own Essential Eleven.

-- Choose relationships with empathetic people so that you can heal the wounds of childhood and grow to fulfill your best self.

-- No singular relationship can fulfill all of your needs. It is important not to expect a best friend or spouse to be everything. For example -- fun, intimacy, intellectual companionship -- can all be met in different relationships.

--In raising children, reflect on your formative relationships: understanding where you’re coming from and how you were parented enables you to better understand what your child truly needs in order to flourish.

-- Your relationship to your own body is an overlooked, yet essential one. It is ultimately each woman’s responsibility to make peace with herself by being kind, generous and loving to her body. Commit to a movement routine (yoga, working out, a sport) eating healthfully and with some pleasure, and being mindful of body health and medical check-ups.

-- You and your work - a woman’s relationship to her work is key in allowing her to express her creativity and ambition. This relationship needs to be nurtured and developed like all other relationships in one’s life. By knowing what she wants to develop further in herself, a woman can direct her career accordingly.

--The relationship you have with a spouse or lover is complex and challenging. To stay satisfying and vibrant, long-term love relationships require communication and empathy, skills which often need to be learned and re-learned over time. Keep a sexual relationship alive. When a woman allows her sexual self to wane, this is a warning that an important aspect of her self is cut off and a marriage may be at risk.

--Daughter, mother, sister, wife, friend, artist, doctor, mentor, protégé, women are not cookie cutter versions of each other. Remember, different women have had different lives, and so their relationships will constitute a unique collage. Relationships that contain an individual’s unique recipe of intimacy, reciprocity, communication, growth, security and flexibility, are those that lead to a satisfying, productive and happy life.

"Matters of serious public health should be decided by scientists and in labs -- not politicians at press conferences. Members of the coalition are genuinely concerned about the need to protect the health of children. But the reasons for adopting AB 1108 are entirely unfounded. AB 1108 would prohibit use of certain ingredients in toys called phthalates. The principal phthalate used in toys, called di-isononyl phthalate (DINP), has been thoroughly studied and found to be safe (http://www. cpsc. gov/library/foia/foia03/petition/ageunder. PDF) for use in children's products by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

"A ban on ingredients that have been thoroughly evaluated and found to be safe by government regulators will do nothing to address the recent issues with product safety and toy recalls, and it will not serve to improve the health of children. The practical effect of this ban could even be to increase the risk harming children's health and safety.

"In publishing its findings, the CPSC said, 'If DINP is to be replaced in children's products, whether on a mandatory or voluntary basis, the potential risks of the substitutes must be considered. Weaker or more brittle plastics might break and result in a choking hazard. Other plasticizers might not be as well studied as DINP'.

"If legitimate concerns exist, they should be reviewed by scientists and the state and federal regulatory agencies charged with ensuring public safety. While these entities have many times over found soft vinyl toys to be safe, we would nonetheless support additional review under the Governor's proposed Green Chemistry Initiative. Let the experts do their jobs. Promoting unnecessary fear and misinformation in the media does nothing to protect public health."

Background on the Standard
NSF Draft Standard 305: Organic Personal Care Products encourages the manufacturing of personal care products using organically-grown ingredients within the supply chain. NSF 305 is aligned with the USDA NOP program and specifies materials, processes, production criteria, and conditions that shall be met in order for personal care products to make organic label and marketing claims under this standard. The standard encourages the use of organically-grown ingredients within the manufacturing of personal care products.

NSF 305 is a "made with organic ingredient" standard, which means it allows made with organic claims for products with a minimum organic content of 70 percent (O70) or more that comply with the standard. The consensus standard was developed through involvement of those who are directly and materially affected by the scope of the standard via the American National Standards Institute's (ANSI) development process. This process ensures balanced input from industry representatives, public health/regulatory officials, and users/consumer representatives. Organic personal care manufacturers, trade associations, regulators, organic program administrators, organic product retailers, and other stakeholders from the organic products community participated in the development of the new organic personal care standard.

QAI plans to certify to the new standard as soon as it is approved and available. QAI is accredited by the USDA and IOAS to provide independent, third-party organic certification services to the organic food industry.

Joe Smillie is the Senior Vice President of Quality Assurance International, a San Diego, California-based certification agency. He manages the company's eastern U. For 2010, the total portable PC market is expected to grow to 215 million units and $117 billion, according to a new report by DisplaySearch, its Q1’10 Quarterly Advanced Notebook PC Shipment and Forecast Report (http://www. displaysearch. com/cps/rde/xchg/displaysearch/hs. xsl/quarterly_notebook_pc_shipment_and_forecast_report. asp). Dramatic increases in the size of the slate-style PC market are expected to be driven by the Apple iPad and slates from other PC brands that are expected to be launched this year. DisplaySearch expects slates to take some market share from clamshell-style netbook PCs, as well as lure customers that desire more functionality away from the e-reader market. The company also foresees the majority of slate volume to ship into the North American and Western European markets due, in large part, to Apple’s distribution plans and known content agreements.

The mini-note/netbook/slate category will be the fastest-growing segment of the portable PC market for 2010, propelled in part by the introduction of slates. However, clamshell style devices will continue to grow as well. In addition, we expect continued strong growth in emerging markets and a recovery of B2B spending in the second half of the year to lead to 25.7% Y/Y growth as the market surges towards 215 million units. (Table 1.)

Strong unit growth and less ASP erosion in 2010 will combine to grow portable PC market revenue to almost $117 billion, recovering to 2008 levels. Revenue growth is forecast to be strongest in the mini-note/slate category due to the introduction of higher-priced products. ASPs for mini-notes have steadily eroded from $400 down to just under $300. The Apple iPad, which we expect to represent the bulk of slate shipments in 2010, has ASPs that start at $499 and increase to more than $800. (Table 2.)

The low prices of clamshell-style mini-notes made these products attractive to buyers seeking a secondary or tertiary PC for the home or office, and also lowered the entry barrier for first-time PC buyers in emerging markets.

"We expect that, like Apple’s iPad, slates from other brands will be positioned as content consumption and manipulation devices, and the necessity of focusing on industrial design and features will result in ASPs that are higher than those of mini-notes," notes John Jacobs (http://www. displaysearch. com/cps/rde/xchg/displaysearch/hs. xsl/analysts_jjacobs. asp), Director of Notebook Market Research.

In addition, Dr. Zhou offered an immediate alternative sleep apnea solution, ZHT (Zhou's Hypoxicology Therapy) for more than 60% of sleep apnea positive pilots and drivers who cannot tolerate CPAP and not indicated for surgery, and for those who have CPAP tolerance and compliance with satisfactory results but prefer to live a lifestyle without a lifetime sleeping mask. S. military pilots and combat personnel, after reported death of a soldier due to inoperable CPAP in Iraq", said Dr. Jin Zhou, a former orthopedic surgeon with the China Air Force General Hospital in Beijing, China 21 years ago. Today, a new report indicated that 75% of young Americans are unfit for military service, mostly due to physical problems rather than criminal history and lack of education. Exercise-induced asthma, strength and endurance deficiency as well as obesity are directly related to undiagnosed sleep apnea. We have been clearly warned by the avalanche amount of new reports on sleep apnea caused illness and disabilities from active military personnel and military veterans. The most long-term disability claims litigated in federal court were ultimately resulted from the illness caused by undiagnosed sleep apnea, according to Dr. Jin Zhou, who is also an ERISA expert.

Sleep apnea is a deadly illness if without timely diagnosis and proper treatment, however, the current standard medical treatments are only focused on the surgeries and expensive, lifetime devices, with very limited clinical results and they are only for less than 30% of the sleep apnea population.

It was estimated that more than 95-97% of sleep apnea sufferers were never diagnosed. Even for those patients already diagnosed with sleep apnea, it was reported that only less than 20% of them have good tolerance and compliance with the prescribed gold CPAP therapy, and more than 60% to 80% of patients already diagnosed with sleep apnea have no or poor tolerance with or benefit from the standard medical treatment with CPAP or surgery.

It is now reasonably well-known and established that sleep apnea has been linked to most of the CDC's top 10 death-cause medical conditions, such as heart attack, cancer, stroke and diabetes. However, the original or ultimate cause for sleep apnea is not clearly known at all to the scientists and health care practitioners. Dr. Jin Zhou challenges the popular or mainstream theory in etiology for the sleep apnea that obstruction or collapse of the upper airway is due to the weakened and enlarged soft palate. As a matter of fact, as Dr. Jin Zhou hypothesized, the clinical reality is the exact opposite or completely different, therefore the current mainstream clinical treatment protocols by surgery and CPAP or oral devices are not expected to ultimately cure sleep apnea but simply to provide for some limited or short-term relief or temporarily cover up the deterioration of sleep apnea development.

In developing the new ZHT (Zhou's Hypoxicology Therapy) treatment of sleep apnea, Dr. Zhou, observed clinically that trachea caudal displacement (TCD) (the windpipe moving downward), resulted from diaphragm malfunction and baroreflex dysfunction, instead of weakened soft appellate as claimed by the mainstream scientists, is the main anatomical pathology for snoring, collapse of the upper airway and frequent breathing stops during the night for people with obstructive sleep apnea. In addition, as Dr. Zhou hypothesized, the dysfunction of the baroreflex, chemoreflex, metabo-reflex, mechanoreflex, psychosomato-reflex and respiration pace-making malfunction, due to psychological, environmental and anatomical causations, are primarily and intricately responsible for the obstructive and central sleep apnea development. Dr. Zhou further hypothesized that all of these sleep apnea etiological components are primarily controlled or regulated internally by the human body but induced externally. Therefore, sleep apnea should be completely reversible primarily through volitional resuscitation, resetting of the baroreflex and revitalization of the upper airway defense reflex by working through patient's body internally instead of externally through surgeries and devices.

When Texas Pacific Group announced in November 2003 plans to buy Portland General Electric from bankrupt Enron Corp. for $2.35 billion, some saw light at the end of a tunnel. PGE would remain headquartered in Oregon. Local decisions would be made by familiar faces. Above all, TPG could bring stability to the alternating currents of PGE. But some folks familiar with TPG say the private investment firm—one of the country’s largest—will take over and then take off. They say the firm has a reputation for profitably selling acquisitions within five to seven years, which would leave Portlanders again searching in the dark for the City’s aims of “reasonable rates, long-term stability, and owners committed to Oregon’s health and economy.” What power is there in local utilities? And, in reality, what is the future of PGE?

This program, one of City ClubÂ’s weekly Friday Forums, that are open to the public, will be held at Multnomah Athletic Club (1849 S. W. Salmon St.). Doors open at 11:30 AM. About the Speakers

Tom Walsh is one of three general partners of Oregon Electric Utility Company, LLC, the holding company that will acquire PGE. He will also serve on the board of PGE. Since 1999, he has served as President of Tom Walsh & Co., a Portland builder of affordable housing. From 1991 to 1998, Walsh was General Manager of Tri-Met, a Portland regional transit agency with an annual operating budget of $168 million and 2,000 employees. In 1960, he founded Walsh Construction Co., a general contractor specializing in multi-family construction, where he held the position of Secretary through 1990. Walsh has served with many prominent Oregon civic groups, including as Chairman of the Oregon Roads Finance Committee, Vice Chairman of the Oregon Transportation Commission, and Chairman of the Glenn Jackson Scholars Program. He has been on the boards of the Oregon Historical Society and the Lewis & Clark Bicentennial. In addition, Walsh has served as Chairman of the Oregon Board of Forestry, and as a member of the Oregon Land Conservation & Development Commission. He also chaired the Oregon Convention Center Advisory Committee on Design and Construction. In 1991, he was appointed as OregonÂ’s representative to the Endangered Species Committee for the spotted owl. Walsh received a B. S. in Engineering from Stanford University in 1962.

As a Portland City Commissioner, Erik Sten is directly responsible for the day-to-day management of PortlandÂ’s Bureau of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services and the Bureau of Housing and Community Development. He also has special assignments to direct PortlandÂ’s programs on energy policy, global warming, the Regional Arts & Culture Council, and the Endangered Species Act. Sten previously directed the Bureau of Environmental Services, Water Bureau, Portland Energy Office (currently the Office of Sustainable Development), Bureau of Emergency Communications, and the Office of Cable Communications and Franchise Management. Sten began his career in public service as Chief of Staff for now retired Portland City Commissioner Gretchen Miller Kafoury. In the first of a series of surveys, 83% of respondents agreed that politicians and elected officials don’t trust the public to make prudent selections with their health choices and feel new laws will make their choices for them.“We suspected that this is what people were feeling, but we had no idea that such a large majority were in agreement. Indoor tanning offers a controlled method to obtain a cosmetic tan and minimize the risk of sunburn and we want to ensure that not only our customers but the public as well is informed of that fact.”

In addition over 87% of those surveyed also indicated that they don’t follow the warning to “stay out of the sun between 10am-4pm.” Cosgrove says that this would be almost impossible and certainly impractical for parents with children at home during the summer. “The public would probably follow more prudent suggestions such as ‘using SPF’s and avoiding overexposure and sunburn’ as opposed to completely avoiding the sun,” claimed Cosgrove.

Recent reports on indoor tanning revealed over 90% of those polled agreed that the news is not only distorted, but that typically a negative viewpoint is depicted about indoor tanning. “This was also not surprising.
