Research Supports New Year's Sauerkraut Tradition

Research Supports New Year's Sauerkraut Tradition

Sauerkraut eaten on New Year's Day provides good luck in 2008.

Bear Creek, WI (PRWEB) December 23, 2007

A recent surge in media buzz surrounding Sauerkraut has caused the largest Sauerkraut producer in the world to brace itself for an incredible new year.

The Great Lakes Kraut Company -- the maker of America's leading brands of Sauerkraut, Krrrrisp Kraut® and Silver Floss® -- says consumer interest in Sauerkraut is at an all-time high because of scientific studies (http://www. urotoday. com/37/browse_categories/bladder_cancer/isothiocynate_intake_associated_with_a_decreased_risk_of_bladder_cancer. html) like those done by researchers at Michigan State University and the University of New Mexico (http://www. breastcancersource. com/breastcancersourcehcp/6096_18611___.aspx) that show that chemical compounds in Sauerkraut and cruciferous vegetables offer the body improved cancer-fighting abilities (http://phytochemicals. info/phytochemicals/indole-3-carbinol. php).

"The tremendous media coverage about the health benefits of Sauerkraut has people talking," said Ryan Downs, the co-owner of the family-owned Great Lakes Kraut. "Given the hype, our company is doing everything possible to make sure consumers have plenty of Sauerkraut to bring good luck this New Year's holiday."

Eating Sauerkraut on New Year's Day is a long-held Pennsylvania Dutch tradition that's believed to bring good luck throughout the upcoming year. The traditional meal usually also includes pork to represent rooting into the New Year. "This year we're ready. We've produced more than 130,000 tons of Sauerkraut to meet the demand. And we provide Sauerkraut connoisseurs plenty of ideas for preparing Sauerkraut recipes at our web site, sauerkrautnews. com," added Downs.

Silver Floss and Krrrrisp Kraut Sauerkraut, winners of the ChefsBest™ Award as America's best-tasting Sauerkraut, are manufactured by the world's largest Sauerkraut producer, Great Lakes Kraut Co. LLC, Bear Creek, Wis. With processing facilities in Bear Creek and Shortsville, N. Y. -- the best cabbage-growing regions in the world -- the company combines modern technology and four generations of Sauerkraut-making expertise to produce the country's leading brands. Silver Floss canned and jarred Sauerkraut is found in the canned vegetable section of grocery stores in the East, South, and Midwest. Krrrrisp Kraut refrigerated Sauerkraut is located in the meat department at grocery stores nationwide. Top LASIK and Refractive Experts in Trusted LASIK Surgeons Directory Present Research and Educate Their Peers at Annual AAO Meeting in Atlanta

Top LASIK and Refractive Experts in Trusted LASIK Surgeons Directory Present Research and Educate Their Peers at Annual AAO Meeting in Atlanta

Several leading LASIK and refractive eye surgery experts listed in the Trusted LASIK Surgeons directory were actively involved at the recently concluded American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) annual meeting in Atlanta. Dr. Randy Epstein, Dr. Walter Stark, Dr. James McCulley, Dr. R. Wayne Bowman, Dr. Edward Manche, Dr. Jason Stahl, and Dr. Bruce Koffler, all leading refractive eye surgery specialists educated their peers on the latest developments in vision correction through lectures, courses, training, and panels.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) December 11, 2008

Trusted LASIK Surgeons (http://www. trustedlasiksurgeons. com/index. htm) is pleased to feature contributions from members of its Trusted LASIK Surgeons Directory (http://www. trustedlasiksurgeons. com/find_a_lasik_eye_surgeon. htm) at the recent at the recent annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the International Society of Refractive Surgeons (ISRS/AAO) in Atlanta, Georgia. These surgeons are among the leading LASIK and refractive eye surgery experts in the advancement of vision correction care. This annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology is always the largest gathering of ophthalmologists from all over the world. This year's meeting was held in conjunction with the European Society of Ophthalmologists. More than 13,000 ophthalmologists, technicians and industry representatives were in attendance.

Top Chicago LASIK eye surgeon (http://www. trustedlasiksurgeons. com/chicago_lasik_surgeons. htm) Randy Epstein of Chicago Cornea Consultants (http://www. chicagocornea. com/html/about. html), was a co-instructor for the "Astigmatism in the Cataract Patient" Skills Transfer Course, which helps cataract patients achieve better results in correcting astigmatism (blurred vision). In addition, Dr. Epstein presented a talk at the Alcon booth on "How To Be Fabulously Successful with Premium Intraocular Lenses (IOL's)", which included practical tips on proper patient selection, careful surgical techniques, and management of postoperative side effects and complications. Finally, Dr. Epstein co-authored a presentation at the Ocular Microbiology and Immunology Group OMIG), which includes many of the world's leading specialists in ocular infections, entitled "Culture-positive endophthalmitis after insertion of the Staar Intraocular Collamer Lens". This was the FIRST such case to be reported in the United States since the introduction of this new modality, which is used for the correction of extreme nearsightedness. "Being part of the Trusted LASIK Surgeons group has enabled me to get this information out to many of the leading refractive surgeons in a very efficient manner", said Dr. Epstein.

Baltimore, Maryland LASIK eye surgery expert (http://www. trustedlasiksurgeons. com/baltimore_lasik_surgeons. htm) Walter Stark, M. D, Distinguished Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Stark-Mosher Center for Cataract and Corneal Diseases of Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Medicine (http://www. hopkinsmedicine. org/wilmer/employees/cvs/Stark. html), presented two lectures at the AAO meeting. In light of the FDA panel hearings that took place earlier this year on laser eye surgery complications, his first presentation, "LASIK Complications--How to Prevent and How to Manage," provided a particularly useful guide to help refractive surgeons better serve their patients. Dr. Stark later lectured on the subject of how PTK (Phototherapeutic Keratectomy) can delay or prevent the need for penetrating keratoplasty in many eyes with corneal opacities. Dr Stark was one of the first investigators of the PTK technique in the early 1990's for the original FDA studies that led to approval. The removal of corneal scars, opacities, and cloudy areas of the cornea with the excimer laser can in many cases eliminate the need for a corneal transplant, a much more involved and serious operation with greater risks and prolonged postoperative management.

Two leading refractive eye surgery experts from Dallas, Texas (http://www. trustedlasiksurgeons. com/dallas_lasik_surgeons. htm), Dr. James McCulley and Dr. R. Wayne Bowman, who practice and teach together at the UT Southwestern Medical Center (http://www. utsouthwestern. edu/patientcare/medicalservices/eyes/lasik. html), were among the presenters of a paper they co-authored entitled "Diagnosis in Keratoconus using Scheimpflug System," which covered corneal topography and imaging. "LASIK and refractive surgery patients want excellent results that last. They also expect the utmost attention to detail and safety. Dr. McCulley's and my major concern is post-LASIK keratoconus. Our study at UT Southwestern showed the importance of integrating newer diagnostic techniques into one's practice. The ability to visualize the posterior corneal surface and assess HOA's and elevations via Scheimpflug rotating images with the Pentacam is a very important tool in screening patients for refractive surgery."

Dr. Bowman went on to note that "the presence of significant HOA's and elevations allows the surgeon to detect patients at risk for keratoconus well before conventional topography. With topographically-driven LASIK on the horizon, and collagen cross-linking showing promising results, surgery should be deferred by patients with asymmetric topography and posterior corneal abnormalities. Utilizing rotating Scheimplfug images pre-operatively is a powerful resource for screening out at risk individuals, and should result in improved long-term results and safety for our LASIK patients."

Northern California Bay Area LASIK expert Edward Manche, M. D. (http://www. trustedlasiksurgeons. com/san_jose_lasik_surgeons. htm), Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Stanford Eye Laser Center (http://ophthalmology. stanford. edu/laser/index. htm), presented two lectures at the AAO meeting. The first lecture was entitled "Comparison of Intraoperative Subtraction Pachymetry & Postoperative Anterior Segment OCT Imaging of Femtosecond and Mechanical Keratome LASIK Flaps." This study compared the accuracy of flap thickness using two measurement techniques, subtraction pachymetry, which uses a thin ultrasonic probe, and an OCT ("optical ultrasound") device to measure the flap thickness one year after the LASIK surgery. The study found that the OCT device is a powerful measuring device that allows the surgeon to precisely measure the sub-surface of the human cornea in three dimensions. Dr. Manche concluded that "flaps made with the femtosecond laser (Intralase) were more precise in terms of thickness and uniformity than those made with a mechanical keratome (mechanical blade), which demonstrated the advantages of using a femtosecond laser device when performing LASIK surgery. The second lecture was entitled "Wavefront-guided PRK in myopic eyes following previous keratorefractive surgery." This study looked at using wavefront-guided PRK to treat eyes that had previously undergone LASIK, PRK and radial keratotomy. The patients in the study had a variety of bothersome visual symptoms after their original surgery. The study demonstrated that wavefront guided PRK was safe, effective and predictable at correcting many of the unwanted visual side effects in this group of patients.

Jason Stahl, M. D., a refractive eye surgeon expert from Kansas city (http://www. trustedlasiksurgeons. com/kansas_city_missouri_lasik_surgeons. htm) who practices at Durrie Vision (http://www. durrievision. com), served as a director for 5 courses at AAO. Dr. Stahl taught three courses on laser refractive surgery to fellow surgeons and ophthalmology residents. Another course, "The AcrySof Phakic Angle-Supported Intraocular Lens (IOL) for the Correction of Moderate to High Myopia," showed how to use phakic lenses to help correct vision for people who are highly nearsighted. In addition, Dr. Stahl presented an E-Poster at the Refractive Surgery Subspecialty Day Meeting of the International Society of Refractive Surgery of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (ISRS/AAO). Of particular note were two of his presentations: (1) "When and How to Treat Epithelial Ingrowth", which provided practical tips on the diagnosis and surgical management of epithelial ingrowth through a presentation of slides and videos and (2) "The AcrySof Phakic Angle-Supported intraocular lens (IOL) for the Correction of Moderate to High Myopia", which discussed how this flexible lens implant for the correction of high myopia was approved for use in Europe and several other countries, but is under FDA investigation in the United States. Dr. Stahl presented the preliminary results of the flexible lens implants in electronic format as a PowerpPoint presentation, where ophthalmologists from all over the world were able to view any of these "E Posters" at multiple computer terminals located in the convention center.

Lexington, Kentucky refractive and LASIK expert surgeon Dr. Bruce Koffler (http://www. trustedlasiksurgeons. com/lexington_lasik_surgeon_bruce_koffler_md. htm), of Koffler Vision Group (http://www. kofflervisiongroup. com/), presented a lecture to the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO(r) on Accommodating and Multifocal Intraocular Lenses. The lecture reviewed the FDA approved lenses including Crystalens, ReStor, Rezoom and those lenses that are still in the approval process. The pros and cons of each lens was discussed. Dr. Koffler is a leading expert on intraocular lenses. In addition Dr. Koffler presented a course on Corneal Reshaping Therapy to the JCAHPO(r) members. This technique allows for the use of specialty contact lenses to reshape the cornea during nighttime wear reducing low to moderate myopia or nearsightedness. Dr. Koffler is a Past President of the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists (CLAO).

The refractive eye surgeons listed and profiled in the Trusted LASIK Surgeons Directory are among the most highly qualified LASIK and refractive surgeons and includes many of the true pioneers in vision correction surgery, not just LASIK but other procedures such as lens implants, phakic implants, and conductive keratoplasty.

New Resource Unveils Hundreds of ‘Sodium Savvy'’ Restaurant Choices Nationwide

New Resource Unveils Hundreds of ‘Sodium Savvy'’ Restaurant Choices Nationwide

HealthyDiningFinder. com launches new feature to help diners find lower sodium Healthy Dining menu selections, from fast food to upscale

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) December 8, 2010

Until now, finding lower sodium restaurant meals has been challenging. California-based Healthy Dining has solved that problem by announcing the addition of a new ‘Sodium Savvy’ feature on HealthyDiningFinder. com. Today, restaurant diners looking for healthful options that are lower in sodium will find a list of sixty restaurants, representing close to 10,000 locations coast to coast, each offering a selection of ‘Sodium Savvy’ choices that contain 750 mg. of sodium or less. Additionally, these ‘Sodium Savvy’ menu options also meet Healthy Dining’s criteria for calories, fat, saturated fat and include a lean protein and a fruit, vegetable and/or whole grain component. The new ‘Sodium Savvy’ resource is located at http://www. healthydiningfinder. com/sodiumsavvy. asp.

“This is an important turning point for restaurants and their guests,” says Anita Jones-Mueller, MPH, president and founder of Healthy Dining. “It’s exciting to see so many restaurants rising to this challenge and featured on the ‘Sodium Savvy’ resource. We anticipate that many more restaurants will be jumping on board to offer the Healthy Dining-approved 'Sodium Savvy' selections in 2011. It is our passion to make it easy to enjoy dining out as part of a healthy lifestyle, wherever you are.”

Scientific research shows that sodium consumption is directly related to high blood pressure, which in turn, is related to heart disease, stroke, congestive heart failure and renal disease. The American Heart Association provides the following statistics:
One out of three adults has high blood pressure (more than 74 million Americans).  77% of those with high blood pressure are aware of their condition, but only about 45% control the condition with medication, nutrition and/or stress reduction.  In the last 10 years, deaths from high blood pressure have increased nearly 20%.  Direct and indirect costs related to high blood pressure for 2010 are projected at $76.6 billion.

The American Heart Association has added information about Healthy Dining and its ‘Sodium Savvy’ initiative on http://www. heart. org/nutrition. “HealthyDiningFinder. com helps diners identify restaurants that offer menu options that support the American Heart Association’s nutrition recommendations for cardiovascular health. Fish Oil Explained Thanks To Unveiling of New Website “fishoil. com”

Fish Oil Explained Thanks To Unveiling of New Website “fishoil. com”

Health Website Unveiled: fishoil. com releases new information resource devoted to providing up-to-date information about fish oil and Omega 3. The website aims at providing accurate information about fish oil's numerous health benefits.

Boston, MA (PRWEB) February 8, 2010

More and more research from around the world suggests that consumption of fish oil not only offers tremendous health benefits, but that fish oil can help fight off serious medical illnesses.

The launch of the new website fishoil. com attempts to provide the average person with some clarity about Omega 3 fatty acids that are found in fish oil. Fishoil. com is an independent information resource that includes accurate and up-to-date information about fish oil and Omega 3 fatty acids.

Most people have probably heard about the numerous benefits of Omega 3 fatty acids from fish oil but they probably don’t know what all the fuss is about. Fish oil is simply oil derived from fish, and Omega 3 fatty acids are a chain of unsaturated fat that the body needs but cannot produce on its own; therefore it must be obtained from food sources, namely fish and other seafood.

With the barrage of information surrounding Omega 3 fatty acids these days, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and misinformed about the many benefits that fish oil has to offer. Much of today’s information about fish oil on the world wide web, is either too complicated to comprehend or the content is provided by vitamin companies looking to sell their brand of fish oil supplements to the unknowing consumer.

Fishoil. com presents information in laymen’s terms about fish oil’s role in healing, cognitive development, cardiovascular function and liver function to name a few. The website also talks about various sources of Omega 3 fatty acids as well as their potential side effects.

For more information about fish oil or Omega 3 fatty acids and their role in overall health and well-being visit www. fishoil. com.

SchoolSAFE Offers School Safety Resources for REMS Grant Awardees

SchoolSAFE Offers School Safety Resources for REMS Grant Awardees

SchoolSAFE Communications, the leader in public safety communications for schools, is rolling out a new line of services to dramatically improve district-wide safety programs while reducing costs.

Denver, CO (PRWEB) August 16, 2010

SchoolSAFE Communications, the leader in public safety communications for schools, is rolling out a new line of services to dramatically improve district-wide safety programs while reducing costs.

The catalog of new services, called "School Safety 360," is designed to help school districts leverage their school safety funding. The package is ideally suited for Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS) grant awardees, and those receiving school safety funding from the Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Health and Human Services, U. S. Department of Agriculture, Department of Education, and other Federal sources.

SchoolSAFE Communications' core service provides seamless communications interoperability between schools and first responders during a crisis. Public safety and school safety officials have hailed the SchoolSAFE system as a boost to joint planning, training, drills, exercises, and after-action evaluations.

The school safety technology supports broadly adopted standards for first responders, including the National Incident Management System (NIMS), the Incident Command System (ICS), the National Emergency Communications Plan, and SAFECOM -- the Federal platform for interoperable communications for public safety.

SchoolSAFE's "School Safety 360" offerings include:
Building and Campus Assessment -- From the point-of-view of ensuring clear communications, this is a unique form of risk assessment that is offered to facilities managers, school architects, construction planners, as well as security managers.

Hands-On Training -- SchoolSAFE's radio training brings together community partners and fits into all NIMS courses prescribed by the U. S. Department of Education Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools.

Exercise Design, Implementation, and Evaluation -- SchoolSAFE maintains a growing library of scenarios for functional exercises that are high-impact yet less expensive to conduct than full-scale exercises, and so they can be conducted more frequently.

MOU and SOP Workbooks -- Creating usable Memoranda of Understanding and Standard Operating Procedures guides are often "blind spots" in REMS-related programs, but here they are natural by-products of the SchoolSAFE installations that coordinate multi-agency interoperable communications.

SchoolSAFE Product Line -- The SchoolSAFE original catalog includes the right radios for the school staff, the SchoolSAFE itself (including custom configuration) which links schools with public safety, the district server, the software and licenses, system maintenance, system monitoring district-wide, and accessories such as vests, props, and other supplies that might be used in the recommended functional exercises as well as during crisis response.

Custom Development -- SchoolSAFE works with school districts to develop custom solutions, building on a high level of hands-on interaction with school safety teams.

Custom Learning Materials -- SchoolSAFE produces custom print and multimedia materials that can be used in training at the school, district, or state level, or used at school safety conferences, or in train-the-trainer programs.

In addition to improving coordination among agencies when responding to school incidents, SchoolSAFE provides superior communications for day-to-day school and district operations.

For a copy of the "School Safety 360" catalog, call SchoolSAFE at 303-598-1555, or visit http://www. schoolsafecom. org for a brief video tutorial.

Cannabis in Britain - Chaos and Confusion

Cannabis in Britain - Chaos and Confusion

Cannabis seems to be a highly controversial and emotive subject in Britain today. Everyone has an opinion but at the same time no one can make up their mind. The politicians keep changing their minds as to how to deal with it. A drugs company is battling to be allowed to produce a synthetic form of it. While all this is going on there are sick and disabled people who are suffering more than they need to when they could be helped by cannabis in a clean, unadulterated form.

(PRWEB) May 4, 2005

Cannabis seems to be a highly controversial and emotive subject in Britain today. Everyone has an opinion but at the same time no one can make up their mind. The politicians keep changing their minds as to how to deal with it. A drugs company is battling to be allowed to produce a synthetic form of it. While all this is going on there are sick and disabled people who are suffering more than they need to when they could be helped by cannabis in a clean, unadulterated form.

In terms of the law the government really can't seem to make up its mind about how to classify cannabis. Many medicinal users were thrilled when David Blunkett, the then Home Secretary, downgraded cannabis to a class C drug. However Charles Clarke is now intending to review this decision. All this is just adding to the confusion for everyone concerned. The official reason being given for reclassifying cannabis is due to health concerns after recent studies. However this possible reclassification seems to an example of cannabis being used as a political pawn. The current labour government is appearing to want to appear harder on drug use before the looming election when other parties are taking a much softer stance. Maybe this is a cynical view but the timing does seem a little too coincidental particularly when the decision to downgrade cannabis was made only a year ago.

PHP (People Helping People) contacted several political parties regarding their views on medicinal cannabis. The Liberal Democrats were the only one of the major three parties to actually reply in a positive and encouraging way.

Whilst all this is going on GW Pharmaceuticals in Britain is producing Sativex, which is basically whole-plant extract liquid marijuana. The fantastic recent news is that the Canadian government have approved this. Unfortunately proceedings seem to be dragging on slightly longer here in Britain but hopefully it's only a matter of time until it's approved here as well, even though it is grown here! This would be a wonderfully positive step for users of and campaigners for medicinal cannabis.

The government would then have to admit that cannabis could be used very positively as medicine. (The members of P. H.P. already know this and use medicinal marijuana, in a way that is wholesome and healthy, they don't smoke it, and they don't abuse it).

This could either be seen as cynicism or realism but there would probably still be a huge fight required before cannabis is legalised even if only for medical purposes. For one thing our Government really doesn't like admitting it was wrong!  The drugs companies love to make as much profit as possible even if it is from a substance that can be produced naturally and is much cheaper in its natural form.

We don't want manufactured marijuana. We, as sick and disabled people, have the right to choose what we put in our bodies. Many of our members are suffering from the side effects of pharmaceutical drugs; we want to use marijuana in its natural form, uncorrupted.

There are undoubtedly a lot of hurdles ahead but that wont stop us and many others campaigning and fighting for what we believe.

The Team at P. H.P.

People Helping People a non-profit organisation formed to help the sick and disabled obtain the best quality medicinal marijuana available, to stop them being vulnerable to criminals and 'dealers' who sell the poisonous man-made product, Soapbar. (See our Soapbar warning leaflet on our website www. people-helping-people. org. uk ).

Cargill Selects Cartesis Performance Management Applications

Cargill Selects Cartesis Performance Management Applications

Cartesis, a leading supplier of business performance management (BPM) software, today announced its newest customer in the US, Cargill Incorporated. Cargill consolidates its performance management infrastructure with a single integrated BPM solution from Cartesis.

Norwalk, CT (PRWEB) September 12, 2005

Cartesis, a leading supplier of business performance management (BPM) software, today announced its newest customer in the US, Cargill Incorporated. Cargill, headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, is an international provider of food, agricultural and risk management products and services. With over 105,000 employees in 59 countries, the company provides food, agricultural, health, pharmaceutical, financial and risk management products and services around the globe.

Cargill, as with many global companies, faced the challenges posed by operating a consolidation system composed of multiple applications resulting in a complex closing process. Cargill sought to replace the existing process with a single integrated solution that would provide greater speed, accuracy, control and security.

“We were looking for a vendor to partner with that offered not only a viable solution, but also had the functional consolidation expertise, the required technical knowledge and proven implementation experience,” said Dennis Walters, VP, Director Corporate Financial Reporting. “We found that Cartesis not only offered these qualities but were easy to work with during the evaluation process and was genuinely committed to the success of the project.”

During the selection process Cargill reviewed the offers of the major BPM vendors and chose Cartesis Magnitude Extended Suite based on several key differentiators. Cargill preferred the flexibility behind CartesisÂ’ three tiered architecture, which offered ease of implementation, ease of configuration, ease of integrating outside reporting tools and the inclusion of a flexible and comprehensive intercompany solution. Cartesis Magnitude Extended Suite provided Cargill with an integrated solution based on a single data model eliminating the need for bolt on tools and supplementary point solutions.

“Cargill was keenly interested in the additional value the solution offers in terms of its breadth, depth and flexibility for data collection, consolidation, validation, and workflow capabilities”, stated Marc Schnabolk, President of US Operations for Cartesis. “With Cartesis ES Magnitude, Cargill will be able to handle detailed data analysis, supporting narratives with comprehensive audit trails and traceability of the results all from one integrated solution.”

“Cartesis ES Magnitude offers the ability to analyze results for multiple reporting periods in multiple management and legal reporting structures” states, Dennis Walters. “Cartesis ES Magnitude is able to support Cargill’s 350+ global reporting locations, 1,000+ users, 2,500 active entities with multiple currencies, multiple general ledgers and varied reporting needs in a non-proprietary infrastructure that offers both robust controls and security.”

Eliminate Back Pain with Breast Reduction

Eliminate Back Pain with Breast Reduction

If you feel that excessively large breasts cause your chronic back pain, then breast reduction surgery may be for you.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 20, 2005

Do you suffer from chronic back pain due to excessively large breasts? If so, you may be one of thousands of women who opt for breast reduction (http://www. sanfranciscocosmetic-surgery. com (http://www. sanfranciscocosmetic-surgery. com)) rather than suffer this constant pain.

Breast reduction surgery is a safe procedure designed to eliminate unnecessary pain and return women to their active lifestyles. Many women find that after breast reduction, their back pains go away and they are able exercise again without the added soreness in their lower backs. As a result, their overall health and appearance improve.

Dr. Miguel Delgado, a breast reduction surgeon in the San Francisco / Marin/Oakland/Northern California area (http://www. sanfranciscocosmetic-surgery. com (http://www. sanfranciscocosmetic-surgery. com)), comments, “A lot of people think breast reduction is a purely cosmetic procedure. However, this is not the case. Many times insurance will cover this procedure. An increasing number of women are choosing breast reduction in order to alleviate chronic back pain, as well as pain in the neck and shoulders. As a result, they not only reduce or entirely eliminate the pain, but they are also able to participate in a greater number of activities.”

Breast reduction is performed through small incisions running from the around the areolas down to the breast crease. There will be bruising and scars will be visible although they will fade with time.

Patients return to work in just over a week and are able to engage in regular activities after six weeks.

Breast reduction has improved the lives of thousands of women, by providing much needed relief of pain caused by breasts that are too large in proportion to their bodies.

To learn more about breast reduction surgery, read a helpful collection of frequently asked questions located at http://www. sanfranciscocosmetic-surgery. com (http://www. sanfranciscocosmetic-surgery. com). It is important to participate in a confidential consultation for breast reduction procedures, so that prospective patients can make informed decisions about the surgery.

Physicians Wellness Network And Home Access Health To Provide Medically Compliant Diabetes Testing Sold Directly To Consumers

Physicians Wellness Network And Home Access Health To Provide Medically Compliant Diabetes Testing Sold Directly To Consumers

Physicians Wellness Network (PWN), the leader in providing medical compliance for consumer-selected lab testing, today announced that it has joined with Home Access Health to make it even easier for widespread, consumer-selected diabetes screening in a medically responsible and regulatory compliant manner.

Jackson, WY (PRWEB) March 2, 2008

Physicians Wellness Network (PWN), the leader in providing medical compliance for consumer-selected lab testing, today announced that it has joined with Home Access Health to make it even easier for widespread, consumer-selected diabetes screening in a medically responsible and regulatory compliant manner.

Physicians Wellness Network now provides clinical oversight from a physician for finger-stick blood tests that screen for diabetes (glucose and Hemoglobin A1c) that consumers order from Home Access Health.

"Now, consumers who order diabetes lab tests from Home Access Health can be assured that a physician will review their lab test result and contact them in the event that further medical action is needed or advised," said Brent Blue, MD, president of PWN. "Together, Physicians Wellness Network and Home Access Health have opened the door to compliant, widespread diabetes screening in a way that's cost effective, responsible and allows consumers to better manage their healthcare needs."

Consumer-Selected Diabetes Testing: How it Works
A consumer orders either a glucose or Hemoglobin A1c test from Home Access Health, follows the instructions and mails the sample for testing. The sample is processed in a lab and the results are shared with both the consumer and a physician-member of PWN in the consumer's own state.

Test results are reviewed by one of the 250 credentialed PWN physicians, and the appropriate medical response taken by the physician in the event of an abnormal result.

About Physicians Wellness Network
PWN is a network of 250 credentialed physicians who share a common vision: that informed consumers improve the patient-physician dialog and pursue healthy behavior. PWN was founded in 2001 by a physician and a healthcare executive in partnership with a national clinical reference laboratory with the mission to connect consumers with their own health information in a regulatory, compliant manner. Most recently, PWN announced it is providing clinical oversight and prescriptive authority for consumer-selected lab testing via HealthVault - Microsoft Corp.'s newly launched consumer health platform at www. healthvault. com. As Google Phone Hits Stores, PhindMe® Launches Mobile Marketing Suite of Tools for Agencies and Resellers to Private Label : Market is Ripe To Take Advantage of Growing Adoption of Smart Phones and Enable Businesses and Entrepreneurs To Jump-Start Their Mobile Marketing Efforts

As T-Mobile’s G1 Google Phone appears on store shelves, spurring an increasing number of people to access the Internet while on the go, mobile marketing company PhindMe® today releases its updated suite of private label mobile technology tools that businesses, agencies, Web designers and entrepreneurs can use to take advantage of the marketing opportunities presented by a growing mobile audience.

PHILADELPHIA (PRWEB) October 23, 2008

PhindMe has one of the first self-service mobile-marketing systems available today. The easy-to-use technology, available through PhindMe, provides groups and businesses with the unique capability to format Web content for any Internet-enabled device, and to facilitate business-to-consumer or group communication on any kind of cell phone, iPhone, Blackberry or Android-powered phone. It is estimated that there are now 140 million people actively using SMS text messaging and the mobile Internet, and the market is growing exponentially as smart phones like T-Mobile's G1 Google Phone make it easier for consumers to access online content.

"Recent surveys by Azuki Systems found that four out of 10 Internet users surfed the mobile Web for two or more hours every week, and 62 percent of mobile users surveyed said they either already owned a smart phone or would own one within the next 12 months," said Joe Barone, a PhindMe advisor, former board member of the Mobile Marketing Association, and former co-owner of VIRTU Mobile, a mobile marketing company that led initiatives for American Express and Campbell's Soup. "PhindMe's mobile technology is extremely well-positioned to help marketers tap into this growing segment of mobile Web users."

Marketing Agencies Can Utilize Private Label Solution

According to Chuck Sacco, PhindMe co-founder and CEO, one of the company's goals is to assist agencies and resellers to custom-brand the PhindMe product. The organizations can then offer comprehensive mobile marketing capabilities to their clients.

Unreal Marketing is an example of an established online marketing agency embracing the PhindMe private label solution. The company expects PhindMe technology to provide a complete mobile marketing capability in an agency-friendly format, with custom branding, a client management dashboard and easy access to client reporting.

"Many mobile marketing companies are coming online with text marketing systems," said Michael Stalbaum, Unreal Marketing CEO. "What made this the right mobile marketing vendor for Unreal was the combination of SMS text campaign features and mobile Web page publishing in a simple online system. PhindMe also lets us set up and run test campaigns with all of our clients at no charge."

Technology Offers Mobile Marketing Solutions to Entrepreneurs

Sacco said that PhindMe's technology also goes a step beyond, allowing businesses and agencies to offer their clients mobile marketing. It will enable the next generation of entrepreneurs by providing them with a cost-effective mobile platform to reach their potential customers.

For one such businesswoman, Stefanie Modri, R. N.C., a labor and delivery nurse serving an area with the highest teenage pregnancy rate in southern New Jersey, PhindMe was the missing piece to the puzzle of how to launch her dream of becoming an entrepreneur.

"In my community, many people don't have computers or access to them, and many are transient and don't have landline telephones – but everyone has a cell phone," Modri said. "I knew I wanted to start a company that could dispense important health and community information to those in need – and text messaging was the perfect medium. In addition to partnering with family planning centers to help prevent teens from getting pregnant, I will provide prenatal care education to supplement visits, and "pearls of wisdom" to nurses and other healthcare professionals. I didn't have the technology experience to do it, but PhindMe made it possible for me to launch my business [etellyou. com]. Additionally, their system enables me to offer mobile marketing services to other social service organizations, such as churches and clinics, to help them get their message out," she added. "PhindMe also has the necessary certifications with all cell phone companies, which saved me years of work and gave me everything I needed to get my business started quickly."

The PhindMe mobile marketing platform makes print and online advertising more effective with easy-to-use tools to manage text messaging together with mobile Web pages. Following PhindMe's mid-2008 beta release, this new version launches the following important features:

Improved mobile Web publishing providing optimized content rendering for any mobile device, including dedicated styles for iPhones, Blackberry and Android-supported devices Private label system that manages individual client accounts and provides business client access in a partner-branded portal A simplified user interface that supports text campaigns and a content system for creating mobile Web pages and user management features New features for client business pages, including a fully wireless carrier-certified permission-based marketing system and an easy, informative sign-up process for users PhindMe®, a member of the international Mobile Marketing Association, is a primary provider of mobile customer interaction and mobile consumer information solutions for businesses. With PhindMe's tools, businesses can improve response from traditional advertising and create more immediate and loyal connections to customers who are increasingly equipped with Internet-ready cell phones, Blackberries and iPhones.
