M-25 Fuel Cell Supplies Lightweight, Reliable Power for U. S. Army

Wilmington, Del., Brunnthal, Germany (Vocus) October 6, 2008

DuPont and Smart Fuel Cell AG (SFC) today announced that its M-25 portable fuel cell has won the U. S. Department of Defense Research and Engineering (DDR&E) $1 million Wearable Power Prize in a competition held in Twentynine Palms, Calif. The lightweight M-25 fuel cell combines DuPont's direct methanol fuel cell technology with SFC's commercially proven fuel cell systems, products, and integration expertise.

"DuPont, in collaboration with SFC, is thrilled to have won the competition, and work with the Department of Defense to address the need for lightweight, long endurance power system for soldiers," said Mark S. Baunchalk, DuPont Fluoroproducts - Fuel Cells business leader. "We greatly appreciate the strong collaboration with SFC and it was an honor to compete with the other teams showcasing our fuel cell technology that represents a major breakthrough in portability, weight reduction and prolonged power output."

The Wearable Power Prize competition focuses on long endurance, lightweight power systems for deployed U. S. soldiers. Qualifications for the competition included a portable power system that provides an average of 20 watts of electrical power for 96 hours, and weighs less than 4 kilograms (8.8 pounds).

The M-25 design was modified to further reduce weight and extend performance. The M-25 standard design, when worn by soldiers in the field for extended missions, is up to 80 percent lighter than conventional power sources, yet capable of powering a wide range of soldier equipment, such as digital communication and navigation equipment. In addition to its light weight, the M-25 delivers quiet and continuous energy, and offers independent standalone functions such as remote area battery charging and power. The M-25 has the capability to revolutionize wearable portable power sources by extending soldier mission times to 72 hours or more.

"We are extremely proud that our partnership with DuPont produced a wearable power system of the future that was able to successfully meet the rigorous requirements of the Department of Defense in this competition," said Peter Podesser, CEO of SFC Smart Fuel Cell. "Fuel cells are the portable and off-grid power sources of the future, and SFC provides systems that meet a wide range of defense, industrial and consumer applications."

The Society of Actuaries announces that S. Michael McLaughlin, FSA, CERA, MAAA, FIA, is the 61st president of the SOA. He assumed this role at the recently concluded Annual Meeting, attended by over 1,900 participants, in Boston. McLaughlin will focus on enhancing communications with all stakeholders - members, candidates, employers and recruiters throughout North America.

With the start of his 2009-2010 term as president, McLaughlin will help to expand awareness of the actuarial profession's rigorous training in risk management in addressing and delivering solutions on some of the most pressing business issues today and in the future. "I am excited for the year ahead, and I am honored to serve the SOA and its members to strengthen the profession and to seek new opportunities for growth," said McLaughlin. "Actuaries are well-equipped to manage risk and work closely with employers to navigate through their business challenges and the eventual economic recovery.

McLaughlin's background and passion in the area of risk management was at the forefront over the past two years as he played a major role in establishing the SOA's Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA) credential. As the SOA's first new credential in nearly 60 years, the CERA credential encompasses the skills, training and knowledge in enterprise risk management that are actively sought after by employers and clients. The SOA is working closely with other actuarial organizations internationally to ensure the CERA is recognized as the definitive global risk management credential.

S. leader of life actuarial practices and has directed actuarial practices for more than 20 years. McLaughlin's previous experience includes serving as executive vice president and chief actuary of AXA Financial Inc., as well as the national director of Ernst & Young's life/health insurance and actuarial services practice. McLaughlin is a CERA, a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA), a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).

Esoterix Molecular Genetics Introduces New Early Detection Tool for HPV: a Cervical Cancer Precursor

Esoterix Molecular Genetics Introduces New Early Detection Tool for HPV: a Cervical Cancer Precursor

Esoterix Molecular Genetics has developed a new diagnostic test for HPV, a sexually transmitted disease that may lead to cervical cancer. HPV is especially dangerous because it often has no symptoms. HPV now is the most common sexually transmitted disease.

(PRWEB) January 11, 2002

Minneapolis, MN: Esoterix Molecular Genetics announced today the launch of a new two-step approach for the detection and identification of HPV (Human Papillomavirus). HPV is the most common sexually transmitted disease, with 24 million people in the United States currently infected and up to one million new infections occurring each year. HPV is one of the most understood viruses linked to human cancer and is now recognized as the major cause of cervical cancer.

An abnormal Pap test is a red flag for HPV infection. Nearly two million of the fifty-five million Pap examinations conducted annually in the United States are returned with an indication of atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance, or ASCUS. The National Institute of Health recommends HPV screening after any abnormal or ASCUS Pap. Two recent studies (Gynecologic Oncology, November 2001 and Journal of Pathology, October 2001) support the effectiveness of testing for HPV in cervical cancer screening programs.

HPV analysis requires a two step process; detection followed by HPV type identification.

While most labs combine the assays, Esoterix offers HPVdetX and HPVIDx, a two step assay. The patient is only charged for one assay if the second assay is not warranted.

HPVdetX is Esoterix? s step one in the HPV diagnostic assay. HPVdetX utilizes highly sensitive Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) to detect the presence of HPV. HPVIDx is Esoterix? s second step. Using PCR technology, HPVdetX allows for the detection of HPV DNA in an individual? s sample, while HPVIDx genotypes for 48 published viral types by utilizing Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP) technology. HPVdetX and HPVIDx also detects types without a published or unknown restriction enzyme band pattern, further assisting in the early detection of the disease.

A positive HPVdetX result may be reflexed to HPVIDx for precise identification. The ability to perform HPVdetX with reflex to HPVIDx eliminates the need for a second office visit and specimen collection.

In addition to patient cost savings and convenience, Esoterix HPVdetX and HPVIDx increase the detection rate of HPV infection to 95% versus the 79% provided by a Pap smear.

"HPVIDx uses genotyping that provides the specific virus category enabling patient history to begin and lends to advanced knowledge for appropriate treatment options," explains Ron McGlennen, MD, who leads Esoterix Molecular Genetics. "The combination of HPVdetX and HPVIDx will detect the virus in vitro and in vivo stages, providing comprehensive results for the management of ASCUS Pap smears."

Another benefit of the Esoterix HPV product line is that the test can be performed on a broad spectrum of samples: traditional Pap, monolayer Pap smear, fresh or paraffin embedded biopsy, cyto brush submission or Dacron swab.

Founded in 1995, Esoterix, Inc. is a unique company providing technology-based laboratory services and information solutions to enhance healthcare providers' ability to manage and care for patients. Esoterix's testing services include expertise in Allergy and Asthma, Coagulation/Hematology, Endocrinology, Infectious Disease, Molecular Genetics, Oncology and Toxicology. Esoterix also has a central laboratory, Esoterix Center for Clinical Trials, dedicated to biopharmaceutical research. Esoterix has 590 employees and is privately funded through Behrman Capital of New York. (www. esoterix. com)

NEW ROCK SHOWCASE-- FIVE YEAR SPACE EFFORT'S JUNKSHOW-- UNLEASHES THE RIPTITUDE OF 12 BANDS THAT RECLAIM SAN FRANCISCO'S MUSIC LEGACY; 1 STAGE / 12 BANDS / 1 CD / 3 MONTHS / NO COVER

NEW ROCK SHOWCASE-- FIVE YEAR SPACE EFFORT'S JUNKSHOW-- UNLEASHES THE RIPTITUDE OF 12 BANDS THAT RECLAIM SAN FRANCISCO'S MUSIC LEGACY; 1 STAGE / 12 BANDS / 1 CD / 3 MONTHS / NO COVER.

Five Year Space Effort's JUNKSHOW (www. sfjunkshow. com), a free, three-month concert series and compilation CD introducing the next era of heavy-hitting bands, plunges San Francisco headfirst into a rock renaissance.

(PRWEB) August 16, 2003

San Francisco, CA -- AUGUST 18, 2003 -- Five Year Space Effort's JUNKSHOW (www. sfjunkshow. com), a free, three-month concert series and compilation CD introducing the next era of heavy-hitting bands, plunges San Francisco headfirst into a rock renaissance. Produced and promoted by new independent entertainment entity Izzie Scrambler Productions, Five Year Space Effort's JUNKSHOW ravages the Canvas Gallery & Lounge (www. canvasgallery. com) with freedom, guts and fantasy on alternating Friday nights through Halloween.

Michael Cox, founder of Five Year Space Effort's JUNKSHOW set the production ablaze. "I brought together 11 rock, pop and groove bands that absolutely shred and write amazing music," explained Cox. "I kept hearing about (and witnessing first hand) how bad the music scene was here, but I knew that if we could fuse this kind of talent into the right venue with a healthy dose of collaboration and camaraderie, we would undoubtedly blow San Francisco's music scene back open again."

"Opening night was, hands down, the biggest night in the history of the venue," said Canvas Gallery & Lounge, co-owner and director of entertainment Marko Gargenta. "The temperature in the room was encroaching on 100-degrees, and our beer taps actually went dry."

12 BANDS

Matthew Burks lead singer of Kingstreet Crossing summed it up as he stepped off the stage at JUNKSHOW Episode 2 with a grin rolled out across his face; "I haven't had this much fun playing music in over six months."

As with all JUNKSHOW artists, Burks' songwriting talent, fortitude and musicianship have given Kingstreet Crossing a reputation as a band that's about to go big. JUNKSHOW featured bands run the gamut from newer groups just beginning to make waves to bands that have already had the pleasure of crashing their sounds waves off the walls of The Fillmore. In fact, several are on the brink of getting signed by major labels which is no surprise as every featured band rips.

1 CD

Collaboration can reveal incredible possibilities. The JUNKSHOW compilation CD is magical. Each featured band has contributed a sizzling track to the album. In a stroke of marketing savvy, Izzie Scrambler Productions has laid the songs out in chronological order of each band's appearance creating not only a great collaborative work of art, but an eye popping snapshot of this Summer's hottest music series.

The JUNKSHOW compilation and production transcend San Francisco's musical micro-genres, capturing the imagination of the oft-excluded San Francisco party-goers. What's more, the JUNKSHOW CD is actually turning bands onto each other.

Zack Fansler, visionary, investor and merchandiser of the JUNKSHOW, hustles compilations with stars in his eyes. "I will give you your donation back," he promises, "if you don't discover your newest favorite song on this album."

3 MONTHS

Five Year Space Effort's JUNKSHOW has been meticulously laid out over the course of three months. "The difference between putting on a three-month rock exhibit versus a weekend music showcase is that it really gives people time to take the music in," said Kristie Kingsborough Cox, JUNKSHOW co-producer and director of Izzie Scrambler Productions. "Festivals can fade into a blur and it's really tough to feel like you've heard everything with fresh ears. The JUNKSHOW model is choice because the fans get to return after a week or two and rock out with another incredible headlining band. Like box office hits, word of mouth will keep the floors packed and the party rocking."

NO COVER CHARGE

How can you go wrong? A critical aspect to the JUNKSHOW 's ultimate success is that it's free to join the party. "This is the first time that I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing an artistic environment where people are actually as willing to give as much as they get," exclaimed Michael Cox. "Just three years ago a production like this would have cost tens of thousands of dollars - which, in essence, meant no production at all. Plus, a night out to see these bands would have easily cost $12 in cover charges alone. I was beginning to wonder where the San Francisco everybody's always reading, writing and reminiscing about had gone. I'm not wondering anymore."

"There is no doubt Five Year Space Effort's JUNKSHOW is channeling a vital artistic force San Franciscans are hungry for," said Markos Gargenta. "When the bands are rocking out and people are dancing and sweating amid all the art, we've got some serious juju going on in here. You can literally feel it, the energy is that charged."

Global Collagen and HA-Based Biomaterials Market to Exceed US$2.0 Billion by 2015, According to a New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc

Global Collagen and HA-Based Biomaterials Market to Exceed US$2.0 Billion by 2015, According to a New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.

GIA announces the release of a comprehensive global report on Collagen and HA-Based Biomaterials market. The global market for collagen and HA-based biomaterials is forecast to exceed US$2.0 billion by the year 2015. Growth in the biomaterials market is being fueled by heightened interest in personal healthcare, growing size of aging population, and development of new products with wide application range. Novel and technological breakthroughs in fields, such as dermal implants, would contribute to higher growth rates in terms of preference of treatment in future. In addition, new vistas in implantable devices, tissue engineering, bone grafting substance and facial aesthetic dermal implants have opened up, ensuring the industry’s thriving status well into the future.

San Jose, CA (Vocus) October 4, 2010

Biomaterials are of vital importance in the medical device industry, both for the discovery and development of synthetic organs, aesthetic procedures, and personal healthcare products. Overall, the biomaterials market is influenced by factors such as industry dynamics, population demographics, product compatibility, supply chains, healthcare financing, product-liability legislation, and regulatory standards. The recent economic downturn affected the global Collagen and HA-Based Biomaterials market, with sales plunging in 2009, and the decline continuing in 2010 as well. Nevertheless, the market is expected to recover and gain momentum from 2011, driven by the development of new products with wide application range.

The US represents the largest market for Collagen and HA-Based biomaterials, as stated by the new market research report on Collagen And HA-Based Biomaterials. The global economic slowdown severely affected the facial injectables market in North America during the end of 2008 and 2009, with a number of patients delaying or canceling their injectable treatment procedures. The market is, however, expected to regain momentum as the economy recovers. Japan and Europe are the other major markets for collagen and HA-Based biomaterials.

Collagen based biomaterials market is well established globally, but due to side effects, new innovative products have started capturing its market share. The recent FDA approvals of Botox, botulinum toxins, and hyaluronic-based injectables have enhanced growth in demand for injectables and other cosmetic surgery products. Botox is now much more widely used than collagen worldwide. Collagen also faces stiff competition from the newly introduced Hyaluronic Acid based facial injections. All this has led to considerable decline in demand for collagen biomaterials in the facial implants market. Hyaluronic-acid based biomaterials are forecast to register rapid growth in future, backed by increased patient preference.

Major players profiled in the report include Alcon Inc., Anika Therapeutics Inc., Bioniche Pharma USA LLC, Genzyme Biosurgery, Allergan Inc., Q-Med AB, and Seikagaku Corp.

The report titled “Collagen and HA-Based Biomaterials: A Global Strategic Business Report” announced by Global Industry Analysts Inc., provides a comprehensive review of the Collagen and HA-Based Biomaterials market, impact of recession, current trends, growth drivers, new product introductions, recent industry activity, and focus on major and niche global market players. The study analyzes market data and analytics in terms of value sales for the global market by the following regions - US, Canada, Japan, Europe and Rest of World. Key product segments analyzed include Collagen-based Biomaterials (Urinary Incontinence Products, Corneal Shields, Facial Aesthetic Dermal Implants, and Wound Dressings), and Hyaluronic Acid-based Biomaterials (Viscosupplements, Viscoelastics, and Facial Aesthetic Dermal Implants).

Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire (PRWeb) July 27, 2009 -- Increasing fears over the swine flu outbreak are leading to a substantial rise in demand for Parker Software's Live Chat Software WhosOn.

Due to the ever increasing spread of Swine Flu over recent weeks, businesses have been putting contingency plans in place, to ensure they can cope with the pandemic, implementing WhosOn, live chat software, as another medium for customers to make contact with them via their website, is just one step businesses are taking to help keep communication channels open.

Experts have warned the outbreak could cost businesses millions and dash hopes of an economic recovery next year and doctors are warning that rates of infection are reaching epidemic levels and that several million people could become ill with either seasonal flu or swine flu by the end of the year.

More recently it has been suggested to introduce additional measures such as school closures but the wider impact on businesses and other vital services has yet to feature heavily in the media. Businesses however, are beginning to take steps and analyze how Swine Flu could impact on their day-to-day running, those companies that are failing to put emergency plans in place could face serious consequences as day to day operations will inevitably be effected.

Business development manager Ian Rowley said 'We've had an increase in the number of people wanting our Live Chat facility for their website as the software acts as another medium for communication between a business and its existing and potential new customers, rather than just face-to-face or on the phone.

'Our software can already be used on any PC where the client is installed and that has an internet connection so its an ideal fit for companies looking to keep communication channels open. The situation may arise where customers who cannot make contact with existing suppliers, as the impact of Swine Flu deepens, may influence such customers to switch suppliers who offer alternative means of contact.'

More than 400 people have died after being diagnosed with swine flu, although most already had underlying health conditions and last week the number of new cases reached an estimated 100,000.

There are fears that a pandemic could lead to 50 per cent absence rates in the workplace, costing the economy an estimated £50 billion.

A report from Ernst & Young's influential Item Club has warned that if the swine flu outbreak reaches the worst case scenario, it could knock another three per cent off UK output alone this year, leaving the economy facing its worst decline since 1921, A severe outbreak could hit output next year by another 1.7 per cent.

About Austin Under 40

Young Men's Business League of Austin ("YMBL") and Young Women's Alliance ("YWA") have joined together to promote the annual event known as Austin Under 40 ("AU40"). AU40 is an event honoring the achievements of men and women under forty (40) years of age who have made substantial contributions in their professional fields as well as through service in the community. The event serves the dual goals of raising the community's awareness of both organizations while raising funds for the YMBL Sunshine Camps and YWA Foundation.

About YMBL Austin Sunshine Camps

The original inspiration for the Austin Sunshine Camps was to bolster the immunity of disadvantaged, underfed children against tuberculosis. The intent has changed since 1928, but our goal remains the same: to strengthen “at-risk” youth against those things that threaten their health—mental and physical. To date, more than 38,000 children have benefited from these efforts.

A single summer camp has grown into an entire series of weeklong camps during the summer, a year-round leadership training program, and several scholarships for Sunshine Campers who graduate from high school.

About YWA Foundation

The Young Women's Alliance Foundation (YWAF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created by YWA in 1997 to empower young women in the pursuit of their career goals.

Each year, the Young Women's Alliance Foundation awards $2,500 scholarships to women enrolled in graduate schools or their junior or senior year of college. Recipients are chosen based on their demonstrated financial need, commitment to community service, academic achievement, and leadership potential.

Why does the semiconductor quality of Organic Germanium have direct effect on the human electric magnetic field? The "MAGIC" of Organic Germanium when it penetrates into the skin structure has been conjectured to be an electric current that is helping to discharge and to balance

External Applications of Organic Germanium - Holiday Specials

What is that unseen energy that exists in us all? How can we explain the electrical currants that exist in our nervous system? What gives a cell membrane the energy to move ions back and forth, in and out of cells? Why does the semiconductor quality of Organic Germanium have direct effect on the human electric magnetic field?

Electrical potential of skin reflects the arrangement of your nervous system, and the currants guide the growth of cells, especially neurons.

Because everyone is an individual, with differing electrical charges, the benefit of Organic Germanium will differ from person to person. According to the experts Organic Germanium can be a detoxifying agent that will develop in time a healthy, radiant, and more youthful skin.

The "MAGIC" of Organic Germanium when it penetrates into your skin structure has been conjectured to be an electric current that is helping to discharge and to balance. Electric fields and energies interact in many complex ways that have given rise to much of the natural world, working its wonders unseen and apparently unfelt. Organic Germanium a mineral, the atom is so structured that it accepts and transmits electrons, giving it a semiconductor capability.

(This means it becomes an electro-stimulator, inducing the flow of electricity. It appears to be highly effective in stimulating electrical impulse on a cellular level and in its role as an "Oxygen Catalyst" stimulates the immune system, attacks free radicals, is an antioxidant, and is found in plants such as garlic, aloe, comfrey, ginseng, watercress, and many herbs. In fact organic germanium has been used to grow ginseng and many other plants.

Energy skin care products are the products of the future, Organic Germanium's creams, lotions, and supplements are here today for those willing to try a modality on the cutting edge of tomorrow.

Marketing Experiments Offers Free Download to Help Marketers Determine Validity of Test Results

Marketing Experiments Offers Free Download to Help Marketers Determine Validity of Test Results

Marketing Experiments Blog assists online marketers in "Determining if a Data Sample is Statistically Valid"

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. (PRWEB) June 3, 2006

MarketingExperiments. com (MEC), an online research laboratory, today announced that a free PDF file download for testing statistical validity is available at www. marketingexperimentsblog. com. The PDF file, Determining if a Data Sample is Statistically Valid, takes readers through the steps to quickly calculate the validity of their research data.

"We believe this will allow marketers to move more quickly as they test and to make sound decisions with less information," said Nick Usborne, senior editor at MEC. "It's a really useful and valuable document for any online marketer and it's free."

MEC has recently developed a certification program in online marketing, and through conducting the first course has found that the topic people wanted help with most was determining test result validity. As a result, Marketing Experiments is working with Dr. David Reiley, professor of economics for the University of Arizona, to develop a theorem for calculating validity with a small sample size that is based on making a prediction prior to running a test.

Those interested in downloading the free statistical validity file can do so by visiting http://www. marketingexperimentsblog. com/test_validity_analysis_a_free_download. htm (http://www. marketingexperimentsblog. com/test_validity_analysis_a_free_download. htm).

Victims of Irresponsible Chiropractic Education & Standards alerts patients of chiropractic across the United States to the dangers of neck manipulation.

Gaithersburg, MD (PRWEB) May 12, 2010

Victims of Irresponsible Chiropractic Education & Standards (V. O.I. C.E. S.) is now blanketing large markets throughout the United States with outdoor advertisements. Billboards asking the questions, "Have you been injured by a chiropractic adjustment?" and "Are you aware that a chiropractic adjustment can cause a stroke?" are being erected in locations such as Atlanta, Miami, Chicago, Minneapolis and Austin, Texas.

The objective is to raise awareness about the incidence of chiropractic stroke and alert the general public to the potentially life altering risks of chiropractic treatment.

"Healthy young people, mostly between 25-45 years of age, are having strokes just because a chiropractor refused to inform them of the risks so that they could make informed health care choices," said Susan Hoffman the Founder of V. O.I. C.E. S. "After more than 60-years of irrefutable evidence, it is time for Chiropractors to begin acting like responsible healthcare providers and tell patients, 'we know there is a possibility spinal adjustment can cause a stroke, but now you should know it too.'"

It is the goal of V. O.I. C.E. S. and its supporters across the nation, who have committed to provide funding for advertisements for at least the next three years, to make sure the largest possible number of people in U. S. will know about the risks of chiropractic adjustment.

"It is critical for the public to know that along with the benefits of chiropractic come risks," Hoffman said. "These risks include stroke, permanent disability, or even death."

VOICES is a grassroots non-profit victims organization whose purpose is to raise awareness regarding the injuries, strokes, and deaths that all too often are the result of chiropractic upper neck manipulation.

New Website Provides a Central Resource for Information on Pesticide Stewardship

New Website Provides a Central Resource for Information on Pesticide Stewardship

Today the Center for Integrated Pest Management is launching a new website that covers the basic tenets of pesticide stewardship. Scientists from academia, extension, government and industry partnered with the Center on the project, including members of the Weed Science Society of America, the Entomological Society of America and the American Phytopathological Society.

Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) August 11, 2010

Today the Center for Integrated Pest Management (CIPM) announced the launch of a new Pesticide Environmental Stewardship (PES) website. The site (http://pesticidestewardship. org) is designed for anyone who applies, sells, stores, or disposes of pesticides; provides advice or training on pesticide use; or is involved in pesticide stewardship or regulation.

“Our ultimate goal is to cover the basic tenets that apply regardless of who you are, where you live or the pest you’re trying to control,” says Wayne Buhler of North Carolina State University, PES national coordinator and a Pesticide Safety Education Program coordinator for North Carolina. “There are fundamental principles and practices to be aware of whether you are protecting agricultural crops, homegrown vegetables, a lawn or golf course. We hope that whenever the choice is made to use a pesticide, good stewardship practices will be followed.”

The new website complements the work of county extension agents and state-level Pesticide Safety Education programs. It covers a wide variety of stewardship topics, ranging from pesticide storage, handling and disposal…to how to avoid drift, runoff and leaching during and after the application. Homeowners can go straight to a section geared to their needs.

Buhler’s colleagues in the Pesticide Safety Education Program from across the United States were instrumental in the development of PES, including Ron Gardner of Cornell University, Carol Ramsay of Washington State University, Jim Wilson of South Dakota State University and Fred Whitford of Purdue University. Other scientists in academia, extension, government and industry partnered (http://pesticidestewardship. org/Pages/About. aspx) with CIPM on the project, including members of the Weed Science Society of America, the Entomological Society of America and the American Phytopathological Society.

“We know there is a wealth of expertise in the public and private sector regarding pesticide stewardship,” observes Ron Gardner. “We look forward to a growing list of partners who will help us add value to current and future topics on the site.”

A pesticide resistance management topic is currently under development. Future plans include educational quizzes to reinforce important stewardship concepts and self-assessment tools to evaluate personal stewardship practices.

“Search the web for phrases like ‘pesticide stewardship and drift’ and you will get thousands of results,” says Carol Somody, senior stewardship manager for Syngenta Crop Protection and PES industry coordinator. “It can be quite overwhelming to someone who wants to start with the basics, and teaching the basics is the purpose of PES. It provides a much-needed entry point to essential pesticide stewardship information.”

10 Stewardship Tips from the Pesticide Environmental Stewardship (PES) Website

1. Read the label before buying the pesticide.

2. Buy only the amount of pesticide needed for one season.

3. As a general rule of thumb, the temperature inside the storage area should not get below 40 F or over 100 F.

4. Calibrate equipment carefully to assure that the pesticide is applied at labeled rates.

5. Be aware of the current and probable future weather conditions in order to make the best application decisions to prevent drift.

6. Locate the mixing/loading site away from wells, streams and lakes.

7. Never leave a tank while it is being filled and pay constant attention during filling to prevent overfilling and spilling of the pesticide on the ground.

8. When you empty a container, allow it to drain into the spray tank for 10 seconds after it begins to drip.

9. Remember that exceeding the label rate of application is a violation of the law!

10. Follow the label each time you mix and use the pesticide, and follow the label when storing or disposing of the pesticide. Do not trust your memory.

Vision-Sciences, Inc. Introduces New Video-Based Advanced Cystoscope and EndoSheath® technology to Enthusiastic International Urology Market

Vision-Sciences, Inc. Introduces New Video-Based Advanced Cystoscope and EndoSheath® technology to Enthusiastic International Urology Market

Europe’s Largest Urology Conference, the site for ground-breaking endoscopy technology launch and educational workshops, greets the product with robust acceptance.

Milan, Italy (PRWEB) April 2, 2008 –-

Vision-Sciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: VSCI) announced the international introduction of its video cystoscopy platform at the 23rd Annual European Association of Urology (EAU) conference in conjunction with the 9th International Meeting of Urological Nurses (EAUN) in Milan, Italy. Over 12,000 participants attended this congress, the largest in Europe and the second largest in the world.

Vision-Sciences’ new cystoscope platform, unveiled at the Milan Congress, will offer Europeans a state-of-the-art video cystoscopy system that employs Vision-Sciences’ proprietary EndoSheath® technology.

"We are pleased to be able to introduce our ground-breaking video system to the European and international community," stated Mr. Ron Hadani, CEO of Vision-Sciences. "The robust reception of our advanced endoscopy technology at this conference is truly exciting. Clinicians attending the conference gave us high praises for our new platform, noting in particular how our high quality scope imaging, combined with the enabling EndoSheath® technology offers the physician, the nurse and the patient unparalleled excellence in healthcare."

The Vision Sciences® CST-5000 Flexible Cystoscope is the first urology endoscope in the Company’s new series of uniquely advanced digital endoscopy platforms. The lightweight videoscope design facilitates diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using the world’s smallest diameter insertion tube. The insertion tube contains a high resolution, tiny CCD (charge coupled device) camera at the tip, offering a sharp, high - definition, vibrant, full screen image.

Unlike endoscopes from other manufacturers, Vision-Sciences’ new advanced video cystoscope does not contain difficult-to-clean operating channels. Instead, the CST-5000 Cystoscope utilizes the company’s patented, disposable, sterile Slide-On® EndoSheath® technology that covers the entire endoscope. Each disposable sheath contains a sterile operative channel, which eliminates patient tissue or organic matter from coming into contact with the reusable endoscope or the next patient.

Professor Frans M. J. Debruyne, M. D., PhD, eminent Professor of Urology and previous Secretary-General of the EAU, gave a presentation during the EAUN workshop titled: "A Safer, More Efficient Cystoscopy." Professor Debruyne explained to the audience that he was not a Vision-Sciences employee or stockholder, and then stated: "I feel comfortable in predicting that "EndoSheath® Video Cystoscopy will change the face of urology." He noted that after seeing the superior quality image available with the new flexible cystoscopy system, that he ordered three complete systems for his clinical practice.

Ms. Patricia Slappendel from Arnhem, Netherlands, a leading nurse practitioner and board member of the EAUN, also conducted a workshop on the practical implementation of EndoSheath® Cystoscopy to the urology nurses attending.

Mr. Carlos Babini, Executive Vice President of Vision-Sciences added, "The enthusiastic response to our technology is driven not just by high quality image and instrumentation. The preeminent safety benefits for urologic nurses and patients available with EndoSheath® Cystoscopy simply towers above any conventional option. EndoSheath® technology offers a unique alternative for nurses in urology who have to handle toxic chemicals on a regular basis for traditional endoscope cleaning." The EndoSheath® technology eliminates the need for elaborate high-level disinfection between each patient, permitting rapid equipment turnover. This limits capital investment for additional endoscope inventory, reduces exposure to toxic chemicals, and dramatically lowers repair and maintenance costs. Mr. Babini also stated, "he time needed to prepare our cystoscopes for the next patient is less than 5 minutes, which is a safe, cost effective and compelling enhancement to practice-efficiency."

The Company has also successfully completed viral microorganism “barrier testing” in accordance with FDA guidance for the videoscope EndoSheath® technology, proving that the EndoSheath® barrier is effective to microorganisms as small as 27 nanometers – the FDA benchmark. All other dangerous microorganisms such as the AIDS virus (80-120 nanometers), Hepatitis-C (30-60 nanometers) or Herpes Simplex Virus (150-200 nanometers) are significantly larger.

Vision-Sciences has successfully performed barrier testing on its complete line of EndoSheath® products, and remains focused on delivering the best in endoscopy infection control, specifically designed for a demanding health care environment.

Vision-Sciences has applied for CE Marking to market its new cystoscopy system in Europe, and anticipates approval shortly.

The European Association of Urology represents more than 16,000 urology professionals across Europe and worldwide. Its defining mission is to raise the level of urological care in Europe. More information regarding the association can be found at http://www. uroweb. org (http://www. uroweb. org).

About Vision-Sciences:

(Nasdaq: VSCI - News) develops, manufactures and markets unique flexible endoscopic products for the urology, gastroenterology and the ENT markets, utilizing the proprietary sterile disposable EndoSheath® Technology. Nannaco Inc. NNCO (OTC:BB) .018 14,957,600 shares outstanding Nannaco began talks with two banking entities to secure more than 30 million for expansion, acquisitions and working capital.

(PRWEB) October 1, 2003

NANNACO, Inc., headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, is a holding company, which currently trades on the Over the Counter Bulletin Board, and is presently extending its holdings in various diverse sectors of the economy through mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures. "Our ultimate goal is to take advantage of our position as a publicly traded company and build a consortium comprised of like-minded businesses in diverse markets," said DeVries. "We're confident that our relationship with IHL will prove to be mutually beneficial for both companies."

IHL has developed and continues to improve and expand an innovative means of recurring materials purchasing within the healthcare industry that naturally extends into a variety of opportunities in both healthcare supplies and services. "This is akin to inserting the efficiencies found in other industries, but not in healthcare, into what is currently one of the most costly and difficult operations for healthcare providers," said DeVries. "We see no end to the possibilities that a joint venture of this type can realize."

Joe W. Smith, IHL President, says that, "the acquisitions contemplated will propel IHL to the forefront of those emerging, cutting edge companies that are just beginning to provide a new direction for solving heretofore unsolvable inefficiencies in the healthcare supply chain."

Nannaco began talks with two banking entities, one domestic and one in Europe, with the goal of securing a major funding instrument that would create more than 30 million for expansion, acquisitions and working capital.

The talks are intended to determine the company's ability and willingness to meet the expansion requirements necessary to best use the lenders' resources and to negotiate a fair and reasonable interest rate over the 10-year, fully-secured term.

"This is the perfect situation for our organization," says Andrew DeVries III, president and CEO of Nannaco. "We intend to fund the acquisition and development of several key opportunities that have awaited our readiness, and the readiness of the investment community as a whole. The time is right for expansion and diversification of Nannaco Inc. holdings."

"Our ultimate goal is to take advantage of our position as a publicly traded company and build a consortium comprised of like-minded businesses in diverse markets," DeVries says.

MYZIVA. NET EMPOWERS PROVIDERS TO RAPIDLY CLARIFY DEFICIENCY FINDINGS FOR PROSPECTIVE RESIDENTS

MYZIVA. NET EMPOWERS PROVIDERS TO RAPIDLY CLARIFY DEFICIENCY FINDINGS FOR PROSPECTIVE RESIDENTS

Lake Success, New York (PRWEB) December 24, 2003

Recognizing Nursing Homes' need to quickly clarify deficiency reports compiled by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), MyZiva. Net developed the Facility Focus, a communications tool for facility promotion. The Facility Focus gives providers a tangible voice, by allowing the approximately 17,000 nationwide Nursing Homes to offer explanations or updates regarding government data, including Survey reports and Quality Measures. MyZiva. Net believes that providers have the right to respond to and explain the implications of the government data. Using the Facility Focus feature, providers can describe plans of correction, notify residents of successful appeals of deficiency findings, and post surveys conducted more recently. They can also place their Quality Measures in the proper context for consumers. Most importantly, Nursing Homes can provide prospective residents and hospital discharge planners with insight into their facility's commitment to superior service and performance.

Numerous nursing facilities throughout the country are using the Facility Focus as a key means to address the challenges of clarifying government reports. CPL Subacute LLC, an owner/operator of 20 skilled nursing facilities in eight states has relied on the Facility Focus to significantly strengthen the presence of its facilities and communicate their commitment to residents. "The mission of our skilled nursing centers is to provide the finest quality health care, rehabilitative and support services to our residents and their families," says Cheri Kauset, Director of Marketing for CPS Subacute LLC. "MyZiva's Facility Focus allows us to demonstrate that mission to prospective residents and their families, as well as showcase the specialized services we provide. MyZiva. Net is a truly unique platform for facilitating communication between prospective residents and nursing centers."

"We feel strongly that providers require an outlet to demonstrate how they have enhanced performance, based on recent CMS surveys," says Robert Abrams, Founder & CEO of MyZiva. "The Facility Focus has proven itself to be a valuable asset for providers seeking a means to promote services and benefits to prospective residents and maximize occupancy."

Additional information about the benefits of the Facility Focus is available at http://facilityfocus. myziva. net (http://facilityfocus. myziva. net). To view an online demonstration of the breadth of features available to providers, visit one of the CPL Subacute's Facility Focus pages at http://www. myziva. net/sites/brookhollowhealthcare (http://www. myziva. net/sites/brookhollowhealthcare).
