Oil Production in the Caspian Sea, New Publication Announcement from Report Buyer

Oil Production in the Caspian Sea, New Publication Announcement from Report Buyer

Report Buyer, the online destination for business intelligence for major industry sectors, has now added a new report called "Oil Production in the Caspian Sea".

(PRWEB) February 10, 2007

In recent years there has been renewed speculation as to how the issues surrounding exploitation of the oil resources in the Caspian Sea might be resolved. In particular, Russia and Iran are seen as the major players in the development of the energy resources of the Caspian Sea and any agreements will have important implications for the other countries in the region.

Overall, the countries set to benefit from the oil reserves in the Caspian Sea are Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan - often referred to as the littoral states. However, full development of the region can only occur when the complex political, geographical and financial concerns between these states have been properly addressed. Uzbekistan, although not a littoral state, is the region's leading producer of natural gas producer and therefore has some bearing on Caspian Sea issues.

Most of the oil reserves in the Caspian Sea region have not been developed and many observers believe that there are considerable untapped resources. Estimates of the oil reserves vary, ranging from those claiming that the Caspian region is a new "Middle East" to more conservative estimates of 30 billion barrels of reserves, modest in world terms. However, as the global demand for oil continues, the Caspian Sea has remained an attractive area for investment by international oil companies. The interplay of all these interest groups has transformed the exploitation the Caspian Sea oil resources from a regional concern into an international concern. Continuing regional instability has also made the future of oil exploration in the region uncertain.

How To Stay Slim During The Holiday Season

How To Stay Slim During The Holiday Season

Most people find themselves carrying extra pounds after the holidays. To avoid falling into the holiday fat trap, follow these simple tips...

(PRWEB) November 26, 2003

The majority of people find themselves carrying additional fat once the holiday season is over. Worst of all, most of them never lose this extra weight. Over the years, few pounds gained over the holidays here and there add up to 10, 20, 30 pounds of excess fat!

To avoid falling into the holiday fat trap, the weight loss expert Melanie Mendelson from http://www. PracticalWeightLoss. com (http://www. PracticalWeightLoss. com) recommends these simple tips:

1. Don't deprive yourself. Munching on a green salad while everyone is feasting on turkey and stuffing is just not worth it. You will end up miserable, and chances are you'll binge at home or on the next party. Depriving yourself once is likely to cause you to eat everything in sight the next day to "compensate" for your suffering.

2. Don't stuff yourself. You are not a turkey, after all! Remember, this is not the last time in your life that you can eat.

3. Eat a small meal several hours before the party. This will prevent you from being too hungry when faced with abundant menu. When you are not starving, you can think with your brain, and not with your stomach.

4. Eat slowly. It takes our body about 20 minutes to realize that we are full. Also, the slower you eat, the less food you'll eat as opposed to eating fast in the same amount of time.

5. Be aware of what you are eating. It's easy to get carried away in conversation, and eat way too much before you know it. Don't automatically go for more helpings while you are talking to someone.

6. If you are cooking the food, prepare healthier versions of traditional dishes. Don't go too far by trying to completely cut out the fat. Just make some slight changes such as mashing potatoes with low-fat milk, adding less butter to the food, and serving more salads and veggies. Or make the stuffing in a casserole dish outside of turkey, so it does not soak up the extra fat.

7. Deal with the food-pushing hosts by complimenting them. When they try to force more food on you, smile. Say how much you love their food, but unfortunately you are so full, you can't get in another bite. And that you'll be delighted if they gave you some of this food to take home, if there is anything left after the party!

8. Choose the turkey breast meat, since it has fewer calories then dark meat. Also, most of the fat in a turkey is contained in the skin. So, if you can, don't eat the skin. Skinless turkey breast is actually a healthy choice. But go easy on a fat-laden gravy!

9. Eat small amounts of various foods, as opposed to large portions of few foods. Sampling everything on the menu will leave you more satisfied since you've tried everything there is. But remember, moderation is key.

10. Eat that dessert. The trick here is to eat a small piece of it. This way you can have your cake and eat it too!

Melanie Mendelson has lost 23 lbs of fat, and has been keeping it off for 2 years. She has a popular weight loss website with free fitness resources at http://www. PracticalWeightLoss. com (http://www. PracticalWeightLoss. com)

Patients Beyond Borders® Author to Address Australian Health & Wellness Travel Conference

Patients Beyond Borders® Author to Address Australian Health & Wellness Travel Conference

Australian Tourism Export Council to host second annual conference showcasing medical tourism and health travel opportunities in the region.

Chapel Hill, NC (Vocus) September 14, 2010

Josef Woodman, CEO of Healthy Travel Media, has been selected as a featured presenter at the Australian Tourism Export Council’s (ATEC) second Annual Gold Coast Health & Wellness Travel Conference, scheduled for 23 September, 2010. The conference, to be held at the Sofitel Broadbeach Hotel on the Gold Coast, is expected to draw delegates from local, state, and federal governments, along with globally recognized experts in the health and wellness tourism field.

As one of the conference’s keynote speakers, Woodman will deliver "A Medical Perspective—Where Are We Now?” in a session slated to run 10:15 – 11:00 a. m. He will provide an overview of recent health and wellness trends, identify Australia’s target markets, and examine key competitors, as well as highlight medical attributes and services beneficial to Australia’s tourism export industry.

“A relative newcomer to the medical tourism sector, Australia has much to offer the healthcare consumer,” says Woodman. “With an established healthcare and tourism infrastructure and abundant world-class medical facilities, Australia is well-positioned to become a leading medical travel destination.”

ATEC’s managing director, Matt Hingerty, will officially kick off the program at 9:00 a. m. with a recap of the developments and activities over the past 12 months, and will discuss key recommendations from the Sustainable Tourism Co-Operative Research Center’s most recent study, “Health Tourism in Australia: Supply, Demand, and Opportunities.” Delegates include members from the Gold Coast’s City Council, who will officially welcome conference attendees. Other speakers include Pauline Sheldon, professor of tourism at the University of Hawaii and coauthor of Wellness Tourism: Mind, Body, Spirit, Place, as well as representatives from the Australian Spa Association.

“Australia combines world-class medical services, delivered at a competitive price point, with the high-quality visitor services of one of the world’s most-desired tourist destinations,” says Hingerty. “We also offer an environment conducive to this sector: simple things which are often overlooked, such as clean air, clean water, and an abundance of sunshine and wide-open spaces in a safe and democratic society. For those companies concerned about their obligations under corporate social responsibility, our private hospital system has more than adequate capacity to deal with the sustainable growth of this industry, to the benefit of visitors and Australian citizens alike.”

About the Australian Tourism Export Council

9th Circuit Court of Appeals Finds American Airlines May Have Violated ADA Discrimination and Privacy Laws in Refusing to Hire HIV Positive Flight Attendant Candidates

9th Circuit Court of Appeals Finds American Airlines May Have Violated ADA Discrimination and Privacy Laws in Refusing to Hire HIV Positive Flight Attendant Candidates

The Ninth Circuit ruled on Friday March 4th in Leonel, Branton and Fusco v. American Airlines that American Airlines may have violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and California Privacy laws by refusing to hire HIV positive flight attendant candidates who did not reveal their medical status.

(PRWEB) March 6, 2005

The Ninth Circuit ruled on Friday March 4th in Leonel, Branton and Fusco v. American Airlines (case numbers 03-15890, 03-15893, 03-15897) that American Airlines may have violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and California Privacy laws by refusing to hire HIV positive flight attendant candidates who did not reveal their medical status.

Flight Attendant candidates Walber Leonel, Richard Branton and Vincent Fusco, who all have the human immunodeficiency virus (“HIV”), applied for flight attendant positions with American Airlines (“American”). American interviewed them at its Dallas, Texas, headquarters and then issued them what it called “conditional offers of employment”, contingent upon passing both background checks and medical examinations. Rather than wait for the background checks, American immediately sent the candidates to its on-site medical department for medical examinations, where they were required to fill out medical history questionnaires and give blood samples. None of them disclosed his HIV-positive status or related medications. Thereafter, alerted by the appellants’ blood test results, American discovered their HIV-positive status and rescinded their job offers, citing their failure to disclose information during their medical examinations.

At the District Court, the candidates argued that American could not require them to disclose their personal medical information so early in the application process — before the company had completed its background checks such that the medical examination would be the only remaining contingency — and thus their nondisclosures could not be used to disqualify them. They further contend that American violated their rights to privacy under the California Constitution by conducting complete blood count tests (“CBC”s) on their blood samples without notifying them or obtaining their consent.

The District Court sided with American and dismissed the candidates claims finding that American did not violate any laws. Today, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the district court finding that AmericanÂ’s policy of requiring applicants to disclose their HIV status prior receiving a real job offer based upon the merits of their qualifications may violate the ADA and the analogous California Fair Employment and Housing Act.

Further, the Ninth Circuit found that American may have violated the candidatesÂ’ right to privacy by failing to disclose the nature of the tests that it intended to perform on each candidateÂ’s blood.

Todd Schneider, one of the attorneys for the candidates said “this historic opinion confirms that people with hidden disabilities cannot be forced to reveal their status unless and until an employer is prepared to make a real offer of employment.”

Guy Wallace, another attorney for the candidates said “we are very pleased that this court has reiterated that all citizens of the State of California have a right to keep their medical and health status private, and that an unscrupulous employer cannot just go ahead and do whatever blood tests they want without getting prior consent.”

Vincent Fusco, one of the flight attendant candidates said “I am so proud that I have been able to stand up and fight for the rights of people with HIV nationwide.”

Schneider & Wallace Attorneys at Law is a dedicated group of California trial lawyers committed to continuing the work of the civil rights movement through individual and class action litigation. How can we protect children from sexual abuse? SOhopeful has some answers

How can we protect children from sexual abuse? SOhopeful has some answers

Each year thousands in of children in America are sexually abused, but there are viable, effective, and fiscally responsible ways to spare many from this experience.

(PRWEB) August 12, 2005

Sexual abuse, and especially child sexual abuse, is a heinous crime and is inexcusable. But there are basic strategies and methods to protect children from abuse and victimization – first and foremost being good family relationships and constant communication, the second being parental supervision.

With that in mind, there are several programs that can be implemented to intervene, to actually stop someone from abusing in the first place, and to halt existing abuse.

Many adults who have sexually abused children have stated that their inappropriate thought patterns began in early puberty. Had there been intervention at that time, those deviant thought patterns would not have become ingrained and they may never have sexually abused a child.

Many juvenile offenders have very poor personal boundaries, due to lack of healthy boundaries at home, and are therefore unable to recognize and respect the boundaries of others.

When asked about juvenile offenders and their experience in the system, Carolyn Ferguson (Executive Director of SOhopeful International Inc.) stated, "It is unwise in the long-run to immediately escort these young people directly into the court system, where they may face shame-based treatment programs, which can be extremely damaging to their developing identity and self image."

Since our children are bombarded daily with so many sexually oriented mixed messages from our media, it naturally leads to confusion. There are sex education classes in public schools, but they cover only the biological processes and sexually transmitted diseases. Teens usually get their information about sexuality from peers, movies, music or other questionable sources. Currently, there is no venue for teens to go to get information about sexuality relating to appropriate boundaries, what is normal, what is not, and where the "line" is between them.

SOhopeful has some proposals to stop sexual abuse before it starts.

Carolyn explained one:

"It makes sense, then to create a program that is a confidential avenue for young teens to ask questions, to discuss healthy boundaries and appropriate behavior and the legalities of sexual behavior. It could also be an opportunity to usher a young person with unhealthy thought patterns and inappropriate behaviors towards counseling and positive programs that would be more personal and in-depth about learning how to interact with their peers in a non-sexual way, and help them to grow up psychosexually healthy. Not only does the juvenile get attention in this area, the parents and siblings could use the help, too.

"The goal is to stop those inappropriate thoughts from becoming ingrained patterns and incorporated into their personality and identity. Most of these kids can be realigned and assisted to grow up healthy, families can be strengthened and unified, our communities and everyone benefits."

This could be done at a minimum of cost.

Likewise, there are common-sense strategies to improve the management and tracking of actual sex offenders who pose a high-risk to the public. SOhopeful International has a plan to strengthen the sex offender registry in a way that respects the rights of victims, protects the public, and is fiscally responsible.

For information on this strategy and more, visit www. sohopeful. org. Be sure to look at the documentation in the Library at www. sohopeful. org/forum (http://www. sohopeful. org/forum).

Food to Die For -- Which Restaurants Could Make You Sick?

Food to Die For -- Which Restaurants Could Make You Sick?

E-coli, salmonella, nasty little parasites. Could you catch a fatal food-borne illness just by dining out at a dirty restaurant? Would you like to know which ones might be dangerous to your health before you walk in the door? One worldwide dining guide, SavvyDining. com, includes restaurant cleanliness as a separate criterion in its unique no-frills rating system.

Bonita Springs, FL (PRWEB) August 29, 2005

Savvy travelers and diners finally have a concise online resource to help them decide which restaurants to try and which to avoid in their travels or in their home towns, based on six clear criteria, including cleanliness.

Visitors to SavvyDining. com will find simple, no-frills ratings on over 40,000 restaurants all around the world submitted by an ever-growing undercover army of savvy diners who call themselves "Restaurant Police."

"We believe we're the only global restaurant guide that rates cleanliness as a separate criterion," according to the senior editor of the site, "and frankly, we were surprised that no other dining guide focused any attention on that, since it's probably the single most important factor for health-conscious travelers."

In addition to cleanliness, the criteria used on the site include food, service, atmosphere, hospitality (customer-friendliness) and value (bang for the buck), each of which is graded with an A, B, C, D or F. These six grades give visitors a concise and yet comprehensive snapshot of what they can expect at each rated restaurant.

The restaurants and their ratings are organized geographically and presented in a large "no-squint" font for quick navigation and easy legibility.

Travelers who use the site once will find it invaluable for trip-planning. Restaurant owners are welcome to use the ratings as a source of ongoing customer feedback and tourist-related businesses may advertise on the site, as well.

Conference Goes Green

Conference Goes Green

Recycling for Charity, and Eastpointe, MI program that recycles cell phones is invited to participate in Michigan's 9th annual Sustainable Business Conference.

Eastpointe, Michigan (PRWEB) January 9, 2004

-- A national environmental initiative titled “Recycling for Charity” has been invited to participate in Michigan’s ninth annual Sustainable Business Conference & Expo February 27, 2004 at the University of Michigan Business school by hosting a booth about their program and collecting used cell phones, pagers and PDA’s from conference participants. “It’s great for a conference to actually participate in a green activity instead of just talking about it” states Rhonda Linton, Program Manager of Recycling for Charity. Participation in this conference is a first for the Recycling for Charity program, but is a conventional offering through the program.

“Invite us to your event and we will be happy to set up a booth to raise awareness of e-waste and collect used electronics” states Katy Jantz, Marketing Manager. The program harvests used pagers, cellular phones, Palm Pilots and other PDA’s, with the objective of reducing hazardous electronic waste, returning salvageable units to reuse, and providing a monetary donation to designated charities for each unit collected. “ We are very impressed by the roster of high profile corporations such as Visteon and Atwell-Hicks that are involved with this conference as well as representatives from the state of Michigan’s Environmental Quality Department. It proves to us that they really care about our environment,” states Anne Jantz, Communications Director for the Recycling for Charity program.

The Recycling for Charity program is a member of the National Recycling Coalition and the Michigan Recycling Coalition. Cell phones and other electronic equipment contain many toxins that pose a serious threat to the environment and health of the citizenry if disposed of in landfills. Included toxins such as arsenic, antimony, beryllium, cadmium, copper, lead, nickel, and zinc can leach into groundwater and cause contamination. “Data collected have shown that by 2005 about 130 million cell phones, weighing 65,000 tons, will be retired each year in the U. S.,” according to Rhonda Linton, Program Director of Recycling for Charity. “The necessity for collecting these items for redistribution or proper recycling is essential. And there is an upside in the fact that any organization or charity can use this program to meet fundraising goals.”

'Best Tasting' Bottled Natural Spring Water, Aquamantra Debuts at the Natural Products Expo West

Aquamantra® the winner of the 'Best Tasting Bottled Water' at the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting Competition will debut at the giant Natural Products Expo West trade show to be held at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, March 8-11.

Los Angeles (PRWEB) March 9, 2007

Aquamantra® the winner of the 'Best Tasting Bottled Water' at the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting Competition will debut at the giant Natural Products Expo West trade show to be held at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, March 8-11.

More than 200 people watched at the Country Inn in Berkeley Springs on February 24 as a dozen media judges spent hours tasting more than 100 waters from 23 states and 12 foreign countries from New Zealand and Armenia to Grenada and the Philippines. As a newcomer to the bottled water category Aquamantra's ® I AM HEALTHY™, bottled at Mount Palomar in California, was awarded the gold medal for the Best Tasting Bottled Water at what is considered the Academy Awards of water tasting, the Berkeley Springs International. The water tasting is believed to be the "largest water tasting in the world" according to Arthur von Wiesenberger of BottledWaterWeb. com.

Creator of Aquamantra® Alexandra Teklak is delighted to showcase the award winning I AM HEALTHY™ at the Expo; she will also present the equally delicious tasting bottled spring waters I AM LOVED™ and I AM LUCKY™.

Teklak says, "This is our first year at the Natural Products Expo West to show off our unique trilogy of I AM waters designed to satisfy one's thirst, but more importantly to stimulate the soul. It's time to offer up more than just bottled water and provide them with water that enlightens and inspires consumers to create a positive influence in their life. Aquamantra is enthusiastic to say the least, that our I AM HEALTHY™ water took the Gold, it just proves that the energy the words carry is why our water is so fabulous."

Aquamantra® is an award-winning all natural product with an edge. Along with its delicious taste, Aquamantra® distinguishes itself in the bottled water market by its life enhancing mantras on the exquisitely designed labels. By saying or thinking the positive affirmations I AM HEALTHY™, I AM LOVED™ and I AM LUCKY™ and then drinking from the bottle the consumer is infused with positive energy, while attracting love, luck or health into their life.

Alexandra Teklak wants her inspiring drink to remind people that: "You are what you 'think' and now you are what you drink."

Teklak created Aquamantra® based on the scientific work-studies of Dr. Masaru Emoto, who over the past nine years has proven, through the use of hyper-powerful microscopes, that positive and negative words like love, hate and peace written on bottles of water can affect the water's molecular structure. His work is photographically documented in his book "Hidden Messages in Water."

Teklak discovered Dr. Emoto's work while watching the popular movie, "What the Bleep Do We Know?", released in 2004. Motivated by the movie's messages, Teklak created Aquamantra®.

Aquamantra® will be at booth 4677 at the Natural Products Expo West. The trade show opens its doors on Friday, March 9th, at 10:00am.

Vegetarian and Vegan Future Up For Sale

Vegetarian and Vegan Future Up For Sale

Three major British based vegetarian food brands are up for sale as the world market for vegetarian and vegan foods heats up.

(PRWEB) June 2, 2005

As Heinz announce that the vegetarian and vegan Linda McCartney brand is to join the list of vegetarian food brands looking for new owners, it seems certain that the vegetarian and vegan food market is about to see a big shake up.

Marlow foods the company behind mycoprotein meat replacement Quorn and Cauldron the UKÂ’s top Tofu product manufacturer are also said to be up for grabs.

These companies could be ripe for a quick acquisition for someone with astute investment skills and who understand the real drivers behind the market despite the high price tags.

“For a team who truly understand the complex factors and aspirations behind the market for vegetarian and vegan foods and who have skills in innovative development these well known brands could be a key to change the world’s bleak future.” Says Tony Bishop-Weston from London Nutrition and Catering Consultants Foods For Life.

I honestly believe these companies have gone as far as they can easily go in their present format and thatÂ’s why they are up for sale.

ItÂ’s going to take a lot of joined up thinking and some serious head hunting to gather a team together that can deal with 21st century issues that these companies have been unable to really get their teeth into.

The major brands have dealt with consumersÂ’ primary buying concerns. ThereÂ’s no doubt that the products taste great, that was the first major hurdle and theyÂ’ve all cracked that. The other problems were availability and value for money and theyÂ’ve all fairly well cracked that too, vegetarian and vegan foods are all over the supermarket shelves like a rash.

Now they need to focus more on the consumers’ secondary buying preferences. There are many reasons why shoppers purchase vegetarian and vegan foods – it’s not as simple to market as the successful single issue Fair Trade campaigns or organic foods market.

Purchasers of vegetarian and vegan foods can do so for food intolerance or allergy reasons, health worries, animal welfare issues, religious reasons, environmental reasons, avoiding GM ingredients, humanitarian, fair trade and ethical concerns or a mixture of all of points to varying degrees.

Whilst the UK manufacturers have spent millions of pounds promoting the great flavour and taste of their products they have left all the aspirational reasons to buy vegan foods up to the NGOÂ’s and charities such as the Vegan and Vegetarian Societies who have almost non existent budgets for marketing by comparison.

Even in their most important year, The Diamond Jubilee, 60 years since Donald Watson first invented the word vegan The Vegan Society allocated a total PR budget of only £2,000 for promotions.

So far the manufacturers have so far dodged all the other potential unique selling points of their products and in the process failed to convince not only the bulk of consumers but also caterers of all the solutions that vegan foods have to offer.

“Vegetarian products will also have to be reformulated to be significantly healthier” says London Nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston, “with companies such as Kraft, Nestle, Mars and Cadburys looking at ways to remove hydrogenated fats from their products then the days of trans-fat rich vegetarian sausages looked upon as ‘health foods’ are numbered”

To ensure continued success the new owners of these vegetarian brands are encouraged to look at the Foods For Life 5 point plan:

1) Encourage healthy eating with creative but simple nutritionally complete serving suggestions.

2) Work closer with the vegetarian and vegan societies and government organisations such as the Food Standards agency to promote healthy eating.

3) Work much more extensively with caterers to improve the offer of healthy vegetarian food in restaurants, hotels and hospitals.

4) Reformulation of products to remove ingredients that cause market barriers and strive to include new ingredients that improve the nutritional content of the foods.

5) Improve awareness about all the unique selling points and solutions that vegetarianism has to offer rather than just the taste and flavour.

“I hope we see real commitment rather than just venture capitalism as otherwise the investment needed will be a risky business. However, with the right new owners of these companies I can see within a few years peoples’ reaction to vegetarian foods will be not ‘why?’ but ‘why not!’” predicts Tony Bishop-Weston.

Its unique chemical composition in most cases reduces potential allergic reactions to plastic or latex.

He kept it in his book bag and used it during rainy days as a mini raincoat! My son is a tough kid but it looks as good as the day it arrived,” said of Janice Hutch, Virginia.

“I was so concerned when I was diagnosed with melanoma on my arm. The hardest part was keeping the stitches dry after the surgery with minimal use of the arm. Cast Cover Ultra made it easy to use and shower with no support. I still had my independence.” John Hubert, Kansas.

All sizes are priced to meet the economical needs of the consumer while offering a product superior to its competitors. 100% satisfaction is guaranteed on this product. Visit us at www. Marriage Counseling Advice: Eight Tips for Enjoying Valentine's Day Even If Your Marriage Isn't Perfect

Marriage Counseling Advice: Eight Tips for Enjoying Valentine's Day Even If Your Marriage Isn't Perfect

Marriage counseling coach Nancy Wasson has Valentine’s Day advice for spouses in “less-than-perfect” marriages: “Keep the day in perspective, plan ahead, and find ways to show love to yourself and others."

Birmingham, AL (PRWEB) February 6, 2006

Marriage counseling coach Nancy Wasson says that Valentine’s Day brings up a mixture of feelings for many spouses. “For some,” she states, “it’s a happy day, full of anticipation and fun. But for others, it’s a painful reminder of what’s missing in their marriage.”

Wasson shares that when spouses are having serious marriage problems or even just an unresolved minor tiff, Valentine’s Day can present a challenge. “It’s hard for wives to watch co-workers receive bouquets of roses at work and to hear friends talk about special dinner plans and other romantic gestures from their husbands when they’re not in the same situation.”

She adds that it’s also difficult for husbands who want to show love and affection but are stymied by their wife’s lack of response or passion. According to Wasson, “Valentine’s Day is supposed to be a celebration time for lovers. For couples who aren’t feeling romantic towards each other, February 14th can be a depressing day.”

She has an eight-step strategy for coping with Valentine’s Day, even when a marriage relationship is strained:

Keep Valentine’s Day in perspective. It gets a lot of publicity at the time, but remember that it’s only one day of the year. As the saying goes, “This too shall pass.” On February 15th, it’s all over except for the half-price left-over Valentine’s candy in the drug store.

Remember that just because it looks like others have wonderful or desirable marriages and attentive, loving spouses doesn’t make it so. If you could see behind the scenes, you’d see that the truth is often very different from the exterior appearance. Just because a spouse gives the partner a flashy Valentine’s gift doesn’t mean the marriage is healthy and satisfying.

Plan ahead so that you have some fun activities for the day or evening. If things are strained with your spouse, plan a special lunch or dinner with a close friend. Or you might decide to see a movie or have a massage after work. Be proactive about making plans and schedule something you’ll look forward to.

Give yourself a Valentine’s Day present. Gifts to consider include a new CD, a book, clothing, sports equipment, a facial, a session with a personal trainer, or enrollment in a gym or night class. While you’re at it, buy a bouquet of tulips or other fresh flowers to brighten up your house or office.

Pamper yourself. Slow down and take time for yourself in the little ways that count. Eat well, get enough rest, slow the pace down, and build in some relaxation time. Be good to yourself—you deserve it. And don’t forget to laugh. Be your own valentine and treat yourself with love and respect.

Count your love blessings. Make a list of all the people who show their love and caring for you throughout the year. Include family and friends, as well as the neighbor who always volunteers to feed your cat when you’re out of town and the co-worker who looks out for your interests. Then take a moment to savor the feeling of gratitude for being so richly blessed.

Send cards, notes, emails, or phone messages to the people in your life who are your “loved ones.” Remember how much fun it used to be when you were a child to get valentine cards and little candy hearts with messages such as “I Love You” or “Be my Friend”? Find a way to express your caring and gratitude to the special people on your “Love Blessings” list. You’ll make their day!

Let your love, caring, and compassion for others shine brightly in everything you say or do on Valentine’s Day. Give the gift of yourself to others all day long. Print out the following quote and read it throughout the day to remind you of the power of love and giving:

“Each time anyone comes into contact with us,

They must become different and better people

Because of having met us...

We have been created in order to love and to be loved.

Love does not measure...it just gives.”

---Mother Teresa

Spouses don’t have to wait until their marriage is problem-free to enjoy Valentine’s Day, says Wasson. “And even more importantly, the bigger picture is that they don’t have to wait until their marriage is perfect to enjoy life. Now that’s something to celebrate!”

Marriage counselor Nancy Wasson, Ph. D., has been a Licensed Professional Counselor for more than twenty years. She coaches couples in unhappy marriages and provides immediate help through the privacy of telephone and email consultations. She is the author of “Keep Your Marriage: What to Do When Your Spouse Says ‘I Don’t Love You Anymore!’ ” She offers a free weekly marriage advice newsletter at www. KeepYourMarriage. com.

Stress and the City Survey says High Stress Equals Low Sex Drive; Swanson Vitamins Offers Relora in Five Different Products

Stress and the City Survey says High Stress Equals Low Sex Drive; Swanson Vitamins Offers Relora in Five Different Products

500 American adults were asked about their stress levels. Sixty-two percent reported that they were not having enough sex and stress is one of the main reasons why. Relora combines magnolia and phellodendron extract to support stress and stress-related eating. Swanson Vitamins offers Relora in five of their products.

Fargo, ND (PRWEB) February 12, 2009

Next Pharmaceuticals conducted a survey in ten major cities across the U. S. They asked 500 people between the ages of 18-55 about their stress levels. The Relora® Stress in the City Survey concluded that the participants are experiencing a lot of stress, and 46% believe they are more stressed now than they were a year ago. The number one source cited for their high stress level was financial issues, followed by work and not having enough time. Sixty-two percent reported that they are not having enough sex and that stress is one of the main reasons why. The top ways given to deal with stress include eating comfort foods, watching television and listening to music.

"Sex is more in the brain than below the belt. For most people, the greater the stress level the less sex will be in the relationship," said Dr. Peter Lambrou, clinical psychologist and Chair of Psychology at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California. "Whatever couples can do to better manage their stress will help improve both the frequency and satisfaction of their sex lives. From relaxation exercises such as yoga and meditation to supplements, people can take steps to turn up the heat in the bedroom."

Relora® combines a patented magnolia and phellodendron extract that supports stress and stress-related eating to relax and reclaim a sense of stability and well-being. Swanson Vitamins carries Relora® (http://www. swansonvitamins. com/Search? doSearch=truel&keyword=Relora&SourceCode=INTN023) in five different products. They have Lee Swanson Signature Line Ultimate Stress Pill (http://www. swansonvitamins. com/SWL011/ItemDetail? HomelandDefenseStocks. com Reports on Biodefense Stocks Following Recent VaxGen $877.5M Contract

HomelandDefenseStocks. com Reports on Biodefense Stocks Following Recent VaxGen $877.5M Contract

Www. HomelandDefenseStocks. com, (HDS), an investor news portal for the Homeland Defense and Security Sector, presents an exclusive article on the likelihood of a bioterror attack, and the latest contract let under the "Project Bioshield" initiative to purchase Anthrax vaccines.

POINT ROBERTS, WA (PRWEB) November 10, 2004

Biodefense stocks gained traction in the market as shares of VaxGen increased twenty percent on news that the U. S. government was buying 75 million doses of its anthrax vaccine, valued at $877.5 million. Other biodefense stocks including Hollis-Eden, a company working on a drug targeting the acute effects of radiation injury, increased share price. The VaxGen contract is a significant milestone in the biodefense sector and gives confidence to the market of continued funding from Project BioShield.

Aethlon Medical, Inc. (OTCBB: AEMD) recently announced it is sponsoring the second annual “Crossing Boundaries: International Biodefense & Civilian Medicine” conference, on November 21-23 in Washington. Aethlon's Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Richard Tullis, will give a presentation at the conference entitled: "The Hemopurifier™ as a treatment for drug and vaccine resistant bioweapons." George Mason University, the National Center for Biodefense, and The Burnham Institute are hosting the conference that will feature advances in medical biodefense including non-vaccine therapeutic approaches and products, and how these therapies could be applied to civilian medical research.

HDS does not make recommendations, but offers a unique, free information portal to investors to research news, articles, interviews and a growing list of participating public companies.

Article Excerpt: Major Vaccine contract boosts share price. More to comeÂ…By Allen R. Gibson Nov 2004

VaxGen Inc. has finally received the contract to supply 75 million doses of Anthrax vaccine to the US government; working on closing this contract for more than two years. The contract is worth $877.5 million dollars.

VaxGen shares surged up over 20% on over 5 million volume the day after it received the contract as part of the $5.6 billion "Bio Shield" initiative.

Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy G. Thompson noted when the bill was passed, "Bio Shield will also speed R&D on next-generation countermeasures for other dangerous pathogens, such as Ebola and plague. And it will give the FDA the ability to make promising new treatments available quickly in emergency situations."

Such research, along with stockpiling of vaccines, may be none too soon. A recent study conducted in England says that Bioterror is by far the most likely attach scenario we face. The report, prepared for the British Medical Association, says that, left unchecked, advances in biotechnology could equip terrorists to do as much damage as did the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic, which killed more US soldiers than all the battles of WW1. Malcolm Dando, the reports author, says controlling biotech is going to be more difficult than the nuclear proliferation issue, and that the "window of opportunity" to take on the spread of such biological weapons is shrinking fast.

FAIR Campaign Launched to Educate and Encourage Dog Owners to Learn More About Forest Access

FAIR Campaign Launched to Educate and Encourage Dog Owners to Learn More About Forest Access

The Forest Access is a Right & Responsibility (FAIR) campaign launched to help citizens access quality off-leash recreation opportunities on the Deschutes National Forest.

Bend, OR (PRWEB) August 10, 2010

The Forest Access is a Right & Responsibility (FAIR) campaign was launched to help citizens access quality off-leash recreation opportunities on the Deschutes National Forest.

We believe it is possible for skilled land managers to provide quality opportunities for all recreationists, while sustaining our public lands. Because recreation is so important to dog owners and many others, we encourage citizens to learn more about access issues. FAIR is sponsored by DogPAC, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the health and enjoyment of dogs and their guardians through the provision of off-leash recreation opportunities in Central Oregon. DogPAC has collaborated successfully with the Bend Park and Recreation District to expand opportunities in local parks.

For the past 3+ years, DogPAC has also sought to work with the Deschutes National Forest (Deschutes) to expand opportunities there. DogPAC is an Adopt-a-Trail partner with the Deschutes, and it maintains a portion of the Deschutes River Trail. It also created, maintains, and grooms Oregon's only dog-friendly groomed ski/snowshoe trail.

Despite DogPAC's commitment, and despite dog owners being the single largest recreation group on this forest, the Deschutes is unusually restrictive of dog owner access. It has more miles of leash restrictions than all other national forests in Oregon combined. This has had a huge impact on dog owners - those that live in Central Oregon and those that visit and support its tourism industry.

Because the Deschutes has been unwilling to openly address access issues, DogPAC utilized the Freedom of Information Act to compel the forest to provide relevant documentation. These internal documents reveal that the forest lacks a scientific/managerial foundation for such strong access restrictions. More importantly, the documents indicate that the forest lacks a legal foundation - and that decision makers have implemented restrictions despite being aware of this. In other words, the Deschutes National Forest is knowingly misusing federal regulations to deny dog owners access to public lands.

The Forest Service uses the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) as a foundation for restricting access. The three local orders restricting dog owner access on the Deschutes are based on 36 CFR 261.58(s), which states: "When provided by an order, the following are prohibited… possessing, storing, or transporting any bird, fish, or other animal or parts thereof, as specified in the order."

This CFR clearly relates to wildlife, not dogs. In an internal email, the forest's chief law enforcement officer stated: "In no case is 261.58(s) an appropriate regulation for managing domestic dog issues." She went on to say the forest should use "regulations appropriately (as intended by Congress)… Otherwise, we are 'bluffing' the public and we risk losing our credibility."

DogPAC president Kreg Lindberg states: "Deschutes National Forest decision makers have acted as if they are above the law. I believe the Forest Service should follow the law - and that access restrictions should be legal, ethical, and scientifically sound." As authors Sharpe, Hendee, and Sharpe note in their Introduction to Forest and Renewable Resources textbook: "management's role is to manage recreation use skillfully, not to inhibit it." With skillful management, all recreation interests can have quality opportunities. Access to public lands is too important to Western communities for it to be poorly managed. This context is about one user group on one national forest, but legal abuses and poor management occur elsewhere. DogPAC launched the FAIR campaign to encourage citizens to learn more about how their access to public lands is restricted, and to help them ensure that access decisions rest on a solid foundation.
