Health Insurance Made Easy: Point, click, shop, and apply online

Health Insurance Made Easy: Point, click, shop, and apply online.

GreatHealthRate. com is a new online health insurance system that allows the consumer to save time and money when shopping for health insurance.

(PRWEB) September 24, 2004

GreatHealthRate. com is an online health insurance “super-store” that was founded on the principal of making the health insurance process more easily accessible to the consumer.

Joseph J. Szoldatits, founder of Great Health Rate, says the entire system was created to meet the needs of today's consumer. The website is a one-stop shopping website for health insurance. "People today lead very busy lifestyles," says Szoldatits. "So we designed a streamlined system that helps them save time and money."

GreatHealthRate. com is a virtual "office on the web" that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This allows the consumer access to health plans and monthly premium rates at what ever time is best for them. In addition to individual health insurance, GreatHealthRate. com also offers Short Term Medical insurance, Group Health Insurance, Term Life Insurance, Dental and Prescription discount cards, and Foreign Travel Insurance - all of which can be purchased online.

GreatHealthRate. com allows the consumer to instantly shop between multiple health insurance carriers, and compare 20 to 40 health insurance plans. The customer can even apply directly online.

The virtual office on the web offers insurance products from the largest health insurance carriers such as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Unicare, Celtic, Anthem, and Fortis. Great Health Rate is actively servicing the states of Texas and Ohio, with additional states to be added shortly.

What if a customer is not entirely comfortable doing their shopping online? “No problem,” says Szoldatits. “The website prominently displays a toll-free telephone number where a friendly agent is there to answer questions and assist with the application process.”

1stMerchantFunding. com Leads With the Launch of Merchant Starter Program

1stMerchantFunding. com Leads With the Launch of Merchant Starter Program

In February 2009, 1st Merchant Funding, the largest and premiere source of starter business cash advances, announced the first ever Merchant Cash Advance Starter Program. 1st Merchant Funding is committed to helping businesses beat the credit crunch. By launching the Merchant Starter Program, 1st Merchant Funding. com wanted to provide merchants with yet another form of their alternative financing. When traditional funding isn't an option, 1st Merchant Funding, one of the most trusted names in business cash advances, can step in and help merchants find cash for their business.

Miami, FL (PRWEB) September 10, 2009

Since introducing the original Merchant Cash Advance Starter Program (http://www.1stmerchantfunding. com/cash-for-declines. html) in February 2009, 1stMerchantFunding. com, experts in business cash advances, have helped countless businesses resolve their credit issues. 1st Merchant Funding launched the first ever Merchant Starter Program to provide yet another alternative to merchants who were declined for traditional cash advances. With their Cash For Declines Starter Advance Program (http://www.1stmerchantfunding. com/cash-for-declines. html), 1stMerchantFunding. com allows merchants to secure cash beginning with a starter advance.

With the Merchant Funding (http://www.1stmerchantfunding. com) advantage and approval time within 24 hours, 1st Merchant Funding is the fastest and most reliable method for merchants to receive business cash advances. With a starter business cash advance, small businesses can access funds against their future credit card sales receipts. Taking advantage of a starter merchant cash advance allows merchants to get cash against their future credit card receivables. Being the original source with the largest Merchant Starter Program, 1stMerchantFunding. com assists merchants in turning future profits into cash for today.

Through the Starter Advance (http://www.1stmerchantfunding. com/cash-for-declines. html) Program, merchants can qualify for an advance between 15%-50% of their monthly credit card volume. Subsequent funding amounts can increase with each cash advance renewal. This convenient and helpful program supports merchants as they develop healthy transactions as well as thriving, healthy businesses.

Sam Schapiro, VP of Sales at 1st Merchant Funding, states, "The 1st Merchant Funding Starter Advance Cash4Declines program has not only been a tremendous success for the company but has filled a void in the industry as a whole. ISOs and agents are thankful for the product and merchants who traditionally did not qualify for a Merchant Cash Advance can now receive continuous funding from 1st Merchant."

With no application fees, no fixed fees, no fixed payments, and available cash within 2 days or less, the Merchant Funding Advantage gives businesses an edge to allow them to stay ahead of their competition. The Merchant Starter Program allows businesses to get working capital for their immediate use.

Roy Liu, owner of Tsukiji Sushi in Mill Valley, California, received funding against his future credit card receivables after being open for business for only 5 days.

Liu explains, "I have already been advanced over $30,000.00 and have been open only a total of 5 weeks. If it weren't for the Starter Advance Program at 1st Merchant Funding, I would not have been able to open and grow so quickly in my new business."

Josh Davis, Senior Business Financial Consultant at EZ Business Cash Advance, regularly directs clients to 1st Merchant Funding. Davis expressed his enthusiasm about the Merchant Starter Cash Advance Program.

Davis says, "My entire business is based on funding declines. I no longer submit a file for a traditional advance and wait for a decline. Now I approve the file myself and get it funded in less than 48 hours from the initial submission."

All merchants, requiring a business cash advance (http://www.1stmerchantfunding. com), can apply at http://www.1stmerchantfunding. com (http://www.1stmerchantfunding. com). Website Helps Seniors Find Out About Health Insurance Plans

Website Helps Seniors Find Out About Health Insurance Plans

Sick and tired of online news resources that don’t give enough information to seniors about their healthcare options, Dottie Robertson has launched a website just for seniors to learn about health insurance plans.

Dallas (PRWEB) April 10, 2006

Sick and tired of online news resources that don’t give enough information to seniors about their healthcare options, Dottie Robertson came up with the idea to provide a health insurance plan news site. The new website, located at http://www. health-plan-news. com (http://www. health-plan-news. com), covers health insurance plan news that seniors would be interested in—along with commentary from Robertson herself, a senior that’s troubled with today’s rising healthcare costs.

“Being a senior myself, I’ve been frustrated with all the options that are available, the amount of confusing information out there, and the fact that most health insurance websites are just in it to sell someone a health insurance plan. Being on a somewhat limited budget myself, I know what it’s like for today’s cost-conscious seniors. And with all the options and the addition of the new rules for Medicare this year, I wanted to do something—I wanted to help other seniors find timely and newsworthy information all in one place so that they don’t have to worry about whether or not a salesperson is telling them the right thing. Healthcare costs keep rising, and seniors need a place where they can go to get the latest information about health insurance plans. By starting http://www. health-plan-news. com (http://www. health-plan-news. com), I’m attempting to give seniors what they want—an unbiased place to go for news and unbiased reviews of healthcare plans available in their area.”

Health Insurance Plan News is written entirely by Dottie Robertson and is updated on a regular basis as time warrants. This new site caters to seniors, but is certainly a website for anyone that needs more information about choosing a health insurance plan. “We’re always looking for information about health insurance plans, so if you’re a health insurance provider then feel free to ask us for a review of your current plans so we can tell others about your plans.”

The Health Insurance Plan News site has been up and running for about a week, and has already covered issues such as issues regarding Power Mobility Devices, healthcare studies, and a recent survey commissioned by the Medicare Rx Education Network and conducted by KRC Research that stated that four out of five seniors are currently satisfied with the new Medicare drug program that went into effect at the beginning of this year. Other issues related to health insurance plans such as the new plan that allows Costco Executive Business Members in Washington to purchase and administer employee benefits insurance online.

About Health Insurance Plan News

Health Insurance Plan News is an online news and review website started by Dottie Robertson in 2006. The online resource, written and maintained on a regular basis, is dedicated towards providing the latest news along with commentary about health insurance plans. Seniors can use the site to not only learn about health insurance plans, they can find other health-related information that concerns their health and healthcare benefits.

EVOL Burritos Commits to Humanely Raised Meats

EVOL Burritos Commits to Humanely Raised Meats

Best-selling frozen burrito maker partners with Niman Ranch to produce an even better burrito.

Boulder, CO (PRWEB) January 23, 2010

EVOL® Burritos, Boulder-based maker of made-from-scratch natural and organic frozen burritos, announced it will now source all its beef and pork from Niman Ranch, a 30-year industry leader in humane and sustainable livestock practices. EVOL already sources free-range poultry from Petaluma Poultry and cage-free eggs from Colorado-based Nest Fresh Eggs.

“EVOL Burritos is a perfect fit for Niman,” said Jeff Tripician, chief marketing officer and executive vice president of Niman Ranch. “We share core values about animal care and environmental preservation. And we share a mission — both Niman and EVOL are driven by a passion to produce exceptional food that consumers can feel good about eating.”

EVOL’s insistence on sustainably and humanely raised meats ushers in a new standard in the freezer case. EVOL Burritos believes that quality and integrity are equally important ingredients. By partnering with Niman Ranch, EVOL is choosing to support the industry gold standard for humane animal care.

All of Niman Ranch's livestock are raised outdoors on pastures and/or in deeply bedded pens that allow the animals to act on their instinctive behaviors. Niman Ranch never administers added hormones or antibiotics, and all animals are fed a 100 percent vegetarian diet.

"Using sustainably raised proteins is one of the best things we can do for our health, for the welfare of animals and for the environment," said chief operating officer and EVOL Burrito founder Philip Anson. "As a manufacturer, I believe we’re accountable to both consumers and the planet. I want EVOL to be part of a food solution — nutritious, delicious, sustainable and affordable.”

Sourcing from Niman Ranch and other sustainable sources benefits the environment and family farms. Niman Ranch uses alternative energy sources and conducts crop rotation, an important practice in preventing soil depletion and soil erosion. Niman’s traditional farming methods produce little odor, and the presence of fewer animals on the farm helps preserve the water supply and sustain the land for the future.

EVOL’s diverse burrito lineup ranges from the extra meaty, protein-packed Shredded Beef to the 70 percent organic, vegan Veggie Fajita. EVOL Burritos are distributed nationally through key retailers including Whole Foods Market, Wegmans, King Soopers, Stop & Shop, Food Emporium, Jewel-Osco, Gelson's, QFC and The Fresh Market. Suggested retail price: $2.69 for 6-ounce burritos and $2.99 for 8-ounce burritos.

About EVOL:
EVOL (ee-vuhl) Burritos, based in Boulder, Colo., is changing the way the world thinks about frozen burritos. Phil Anson, COO, chef and founder, is very choosy about what goes into his 11 varieties of hand-rolled burritos: antibiotic-free chicken, pork, beef and chorizo sausage; cage-free eggs; traditionally made tortillas; herb-roasted skin-on potatoes; house-made green chilé and salsas; and numerous local and organic ingredients. There’s a lot to LOVE about EVOL. Produced by Phil’s Fresh Foods LLC, EVOL burritos are available at stores nationwide. You better believe this is all-natural, made-from-scratch deliciousness. www. evolburritos. com

About Niman Ranch:
Niman Ranch is a network of more than 600 independent U. S. family farmers and ranchers who practice the highest standards of animal husbandry and environmental stewardship to deliver the finest-tasting meats in the world. Niman Ranch fresh meats and meat products are available at fine restaurants and select grocery stores. The company’s full line of products, including seasonal and other specialty items not sold in stores, is available through Niman Ranch’s online store at www. nimanranch. com

Paper Kills 2.0 Book by Center for Health Transformation Features Chapter by StatCom

Paper Kills 2.0 Book by Center for Health Transformation Features Chapter by StatCom

StatCom contributor in new book published by the Center for Health Transformation, Paper Kills 2.0, the powerful sequel to the award-winning Paper Kills.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 24, 2010

StatCom (http://www. statcom. com/ (http://www. statcom. com/)) announces its contribution in the publication of Paper Kills 2.0: How Health IT Can Help Save Your Life and Your Money, the timely, powerful sequel to the award-winning book, Paper Kills. Newt Gingrich, Tom Daschle, and national industry leaders explore the leading information technologies that can and will transform our health system. StatCom, a leading innovator in helping hospitals achieve peak performance, contributed a chapter on adaptive technology in the new book which is being launched today.

Ben Sawyer, executive vice president, StatCom, and Jim Rosenblum, MS, CPHIMS, EVP, products and CTO, co-authored the chapter: “Adaptive Information Technology: Driving Hospital Quality and Efficiency through Process Improvement,” which focuses on how hospitals can use innovative and proven process initiatives to transform their operations to achieve peak performance.

“We were honored to participate in the development of content for Paper Kills 2.0,” said Ben Sawyer, executive vice president, StatCom. “It’s time for process initiatives in healthcare to achieve the same level of respect and impact it has afforded other industries. However, like other industries it must be adapted and customized to the unique and ever-changing environment of the hospitals that can benefit from it.”

Hospitals are too complicated for human effort alone to sustain improvements. If they continue their current efforts to optimize patient throughput without the foundation of an adaptive technology, they will continue to encounter the same frustrations that currently exist. Staff will burn out and change roles. Improvement gains will continue to degrade over time. Preventable errors will continue to occur. Patients will continue to stay in hospitals too long, driving up the cost of their care.

StatCom's Hospital Operating System (http://www. statcom. com/healthcare-software-solutions/)™ solution, through process re-engineering and enabling software, helps hospitals transform their operations to deliver efficient patient throughput, reduced ALOS, and improved physician, patient and staff satisfaction. Client results are remarkable, delivering as much as $10.3 million and five times the ROI in the first 12 months of a StatCom strategic partner engagement.

“Technologies like those developed by StatCom will become a major tool used by forward looking hospitals,” said former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, founder Center of Health Transformation. “Paper Kills 2.0 is timely as is StatCom’s vision for transforming the delivery of healthcare.”

With a specific look at the impact of the federal ARRA investment, Paper Kills 2.0 is a thought-provoking book that explores the most important drivers of health IT, from innovation, primary care, and clinical research to e-prescribing, electronic administration, and health information exchange. With praise from luminaries such as Dr. Mehmet Oz, Mike Leavitt, Bill Frist, and Jeff Immelt of GE, Paper Kills 2.0 is required reading for industry leaders, providers, and policymakers who want to understand what is happening today and what will likely happen tomorrow to bring healthcare into the 21st century.

USA Today will print a special section on health IT on Friday, February 26. They are including a shortened version of the Newt-Tom Daschle foreword. The special section will be included in their papers in New York, Chicago, Milwaukee, and Los Angeles, San Diego. They will also have 30,000 copies available at HIMSS (http://www. himssconference. org/ (http://www. himssconference. org/)) (largest healthcare IT industry conference) beginning Monday, March 1.

For details on ordering Paper Kills 2.0, go to http://www. healthtransformation. net/cs/PaperKills2 (http://www. healthtransformation. net/cs/PaperKills2).

About the Center for Health Transformation (CHT)
The Center for Health Transformation is a high-impact collaboration of private and public sector leaders committed to creating a 21st Century Intelligent Health System that saves lives and saves money for all Americans. CHT is based on the following premise: Small changes or reactionary fixes to separate pieces of the current system have not and will not work. We need a system-wide transformation. Unlike other alliances, CHT unites stakeholders across the spectrum (providers, employers, vendors, trade associations, disease groups, think tanks) and government leaders at both the state and federal level to drive transformation according to a shared vision and key principles.

About StatCom

LifeCare® Poll Reveals How Caregiving Duties Interrupt the Workday

LifeCare® Poll Reveals How Caregiving Duties Interrupt the Workday

One quarter of workers caring for children and elders make calls and caregiving arrangements during work. Nearly as many leave work early.

Westport, CT (PRWEB) November 20, 2007

It's well known that workers who care for children or aging loved ones have to make occasional adjustments to their work schedules but a new poll by LifeCare®, Inc., provider of comprehensive specialty care services and a longtime leader in the work/life industry (http://www. lifecare. com), shows specifically what the most frequent adjustments are. Topping the list are making phone calls and arrangements, leaving work early, and taking the day off.

Following are the full results of the poll, which was posted on LifeCare's private web site during the month of October and open to employees of its 1,500 client organizations:

If you care for a child or older loved one, what is the one adjustment you make to your work schedule most often?
Make phone calls/arrangements during the work day – 24% Leave work early – 22% Take the day off – 16% Arrive at work late – 14% Ask spouse to adjust his/her schedule – 5% Other – 19%

Responses making up the "other" category (each representing one percent or less) include changing from full-time work to part-time work, changing work shifts, waking up earlier and leaving work at lunch.

"Obviously, people who care for children and older adults are going to need to make adjustments to their work schedules from time to time," said LifeCare CEO, Peter G. Burki. "But employers can reduce their absenteeism and productivity losses by providing employees with support tools such as resource and referral services and backup care programs."

Burki cites a 2004 study by Cornell University in which the majority of employers reported that child care services (http://www. lifecare. com/services/index. html) alone had a markedly positive impact on employee absenteeism -— reducing missed workdays by as much as 20% to 30%. The same study also stated that a child care program can reduce turnover by as much as 60%.

"One of the services that a growing number of employers are consulting LifeCare about is our Backup Care Connection (http://www. lifecare. com/news/archives/bkpcare_0207.html) program. It helps employees make backup care arrangements in advance so that when a crisis does arise or regular care arrangements fall through employees aren't forced to arrive late, leave early or take the day off," said Burki. The Backup Care Connection program offers solutions for both child and elder care, provides direct placement in a facility or with an in-home caregiver, and features a nationwide network of nearly 2,000 certified child care facilities and 75,000 credentialed in-home caregivers.

Each month, LifeCare posts a poll on its private web site, asking individuals to share their thoughts and opinions on the latest issues and work/life trends. Past polls have addressed topics such as stress, health and wellness, aging, flexible work arrangements, and barriers to on-the-job productivity.

About LifeCare®, Inc. (http://www. lifecare. com)
LifeCare offers cost-saving benefits that help clients reduce their most pervasive absenteeism and productivity drains, including child and elder care, caregiving support (http://www. lifecare. com/news/fastfacts. html), health and wellness issues, and more. Cedar Oil Triggers Exodus of Fleas, Mosquitoes, Flies, Chiggers, No-See-Ums, Scorpions, Roaches and Snakes

Cedar Oil Triggers Exodus of Fleas, Mosquitoes, Flies, Chiggers, No-See-Ums, Scorpions, Roaches and Snakes

Chemical companies World wide have retreated in their quest to eradicate insect populations. Entomologists now acknowledge that the pests that make life uncomfortable today are the same arthropod species present thousands of years ago. Have we decreased the population of insects? Not hardly claims Dave Glassel, purveyor of Texas Cedar Oil based insect repellent inventions. Quite to the contrary. The synthetic chemicals we exposed insects to the last 60 years only made them and their offspring immune from treatment. Insect control cannot be measured by mortality. It must be based on avoidance. The only thing that the Chemical treatments promoted was life threatening disease in our pets and ourselves. It is impossible to eradicate a insect population with out destroying man kind.

Spring, TX (PRWEB) April 28, 2006

Dave Glassel, Founder and CEO of CedarCide Industries Inc, a Woodlands Texas based provider of active ingredients to the Wood, Plastics, Agricultural, Animal Health and Insect Control industry recently announced the introduction of four new Cedar Oil based products. In a recent interview Glassel was asked why cedar oil.

His answer was stunningly simple. Because it works. It worked for the Egyptians thousand of years ago when they used Cedar Oil from the Cedars Of Lebanon to mummify the bodies of the dead they placed in Cedar lined tombs. Ever see a bug in a Cedar Chest? Our forefathers in England rolled the the wool linens in Cedar sawdust to insure they made the trip from the Old World all the way to California. Glassel, a native farm boy from St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin told of his Father and Grandfather searching the woods for Cedar Trees when he was young. Dad and Grandad sawed the trees up into dust and used it to keep the flies of the milk cows in the Dairy barn. I don't recall a fly in the milking stalls after we spread the Cedar dust Glassel said. I don't think that was really rocket science. Cedar oil has a aroma that insects cannot tolerate. It disrupts their pheromone system.

Since 1992 CedarCide Industries has been formulating new and innovative products using Cedar Oil as the active ingredient. It is a dynamic essential oil and the use for Cedar Oil is expanding quickly. In the last year CedarCide Industries has developed several disruptive technology products that will revolutionize the Insect Control and Wood Preservation Industry. The companies alignment with the Dow Corning Company of Midland, Michigan has proven to be a priceless contributor to the new technology we are exploring said Glassel. Dow Corning is the Worlds leader in the production of Silicon products. Who would have ever thought that a derivative of Quartz, the second most abundant natural resource in the world, in concert with the extract of a JUNK tree could make magic in the World of Organics. All of our inventions are considered Natural and are non toxic. Recently we were successful in the encapsulation of Cedar Oil with Silicone components to provide a time release of the Cedar Aromas. The aroma of Cedar to an insect is the same as that of Amonia to a human. When one is exposed, it is time to move on. Our biggest breakthrough came just days ago Glassel claims. We were successful in internally modifying the structure of Cedar Oil to make it miscible with water. The result was the formulation of Pest Control Operator PCO products, Animal Health products for Vetinary Supply, Misting System solution, and a Cedar Oil solution that can be injected into the Irrigation Systems of millions of homes around the World to provide backyard West Nile Virus Mosquito protection at a minimum cost. The most frequent response from the industry Glassel claims is "Why didn't I think of that"

For a in depth review of the innovative products offered by CedarCide Industries visit their website and CedarCide Store at www. cedarcide. com. Contact or phone 1 800 842 1464 for additional information.

Families Impacted By Cancer Turn Out To Support Cancer Walk "Many Small Steps Making A Big Difference.”

Families Impacted By Cancer Turn Out To Support Cancer Walk "Many Small Steps Making A Big Difference.”

Hundreds of local families impacted by cancer will take part in the Mother's Day Walk Against Cancer. This event is produced by Latinas Contra Cancer, a local nonprofit agency that deals with the issue of cancer in the Latino community.

(PRWEB) May 9, 2004

SAN JOSE, Calif. (PRWEB)– May 9, 2004 – A City of San Jose employee and 10 family members will be walking with their 71 year old mother who is currently battling breast cancer. A 17-year-old cancer survivor will be volunteering at the walk, helping to raise awareness about the disease he overcame. Another family who lost their mother to cancer will also be walking in her memory. They along with hundreds like them will be participating in the "Mother's Day Walk Against Cancer".

“The Mother’s Day Walk Against Cancer” commences at 8:30 a. m. at St. James Park in downtown San Jose. The 2.6-mile walk ends with a brunch at the Mexican Heritage Plaza. Over 300 walkers are expected, including San Jose City Council Members Nora Campos and Cindy Chavez.

Proceeds from this years walk will help Latinas Contra Cancer provide various programs including free counseling. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds will benefit other small agencies including Las Isabelas.

“The purpose of this event is to let the community know that they are not alone in this struggle,” said Ysabel Duron, Executive Director of Latinas Contra Cancer. “Not addressing the issue will not make it go away.”

The San Jose based non-profit produces two annual fundraising events - “Una Luz, Una Vida, Fiesta Navidena” and “The Mother’s Day Walk Against Cancer” – to provide a stream of revenue that aids in the development and support of its programs. Both events focus on the need to support Latinos who are isolated in their fight against cancer due to cultural and linguistic barriers. High mortality rates are attributed to lack of education and early prevention. Latinas Contra Cancer aims to increase awareness in the community through the annual walk.

About Latinas Contra Cancer

Latinas Contra Cancer was founded to address the void in culturally and linguistically sensitive programs that meet the health care needs of Latinos around the issues of cancer. Latinas Contra Cancer targets the underserved, Spanish speaking Latino community in California. Because similar needs exist throughout Latino communities around the country, Latinas Contra Cancer also provides service nationwide.

(PRWEB) October 26, 2007

Piribo, the online destination for business intelligence for the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, has now added a new report which analyses the changing environment of the ethical nutrition in healthcare market and forecasts to 2012.

"The U. S. Market for Ethical Nutrition in Healthcare" finds that this market is set to touch the $8 billion mark this year and that it will experience a compound annual growth rate of 2.3% over the next five years to reach $9 billion by 2012.

The report says market drivers include the rising number of elderly and critically ill as well as the shift towards home care.

Authors of the report find that the American nutrition market was dominated by infant and paediatric nutritionals, which are estimated to account for about 33% of total revenue this year. The report contains specific sections on markets for infant and adult nutrition, nutritional supplies and equipment.

Analysts say that ethical nutrition attracted great interest in the early 1990s, and became a focal point of debate. There has been a resurgence of interest in the market as a result of larger numbers of adults now requiring ethical nutrition therapy.

The study identifies products and manufacturers who are operating in the market, and provides a comprehensive profile and measurement of the U. S market. Future trends and opportunities in ethical nutrition are looked at, even as current regulatory issues, R&D updates, and patent analysis is outlined.

Alcohol Remains the Most Commonly Abused Substance in America

Alcohol Remains the Most Commonly Abused Substance in America

National survey reveals 55 million people are binge drinkers in the United States.

Canadian, OK (PRWEB) September 16, 2005

The annual National Survey on Drug Use and Health released its findings last week and revealed that over 22 percent of the American population (55 million people) ages 12 and older were binge drinkers in the past month. Binge drinking is defined as having five or more alcoholic beverages on the same occasion. More than 7 million binge drinkers were under the age of 21.

The report also said that over 16 million people were heavy drinkers, which is defined as binge drinking at least five days in the past month. These statistics were similar to the national estimates for the two previous surveys as well, showing little change in our nation's alcohol consumption.

The survey showed that the age range that participated in the most illicit drug use (18-25) also had the highest rates of alcohol abuse. In this group just over 41 percent were binge drinkers and 12 percent were heavy drinkers.

Due to these statistics, the National Institute of Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse created a website with information about college binge drinking. A fact sheet on this site reports that there are 1,700 deaths each year from alcohol-related accidents, nearly 600,000 injuries, almost 700,000 assaults, close to 100,000 sexual assaults and another 100,000 students between the ages of 18 and 24 who reported being too drunk to even know if they consented to having sex.

“Alcoholism can often be more difficult to overcome than what some people consider to be harder drugs, like cocaine, meth or heroin,” comments Luke Catton, supervisor at the drug rehabilitation center Narconon Arrowhead. Catton speaks from first-hand experience, having beaten his own addiction to alcohol more than six years ago. “Being a legal drug that is socially acceptable, it takes a lot of work to change behavioral patterns in our culture, and making people more aware of the dangers is a first step.”

Narconon Arrowhead is one of the nation's largest and most successful alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs and it uses the proven drug-free approach developed by American author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard.

The National Survey on Drug Use and Health is an annual estimate of the substance abuse problem in the United States conducted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The results of the survey are released each year at the beginning of September, which is National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month.

For more information on drugs and addiction or to find help for a loved one in need of effective rehabilitation, contact Narconon Arrowhead today at 1-800-468-6933 or visit www. stopaddiction. com.

Henry Ford Macomb Hospital Deploys PerfectServe at Warren Campus to Improve Communication, Better Coordinate Care

Henry Ford Macomb Hospital Deploys PerfectServe at Warren Campus to Improve Communication, Better Coordinate Care

Henry Ford Macomb Hospital - Warren Campus recently deployed a new communications solution, PerfectServe, to connect its doctors and nurses so they can better coordinate care.

Warren, MI (PRWEB) September 30, 2009

Henry Ford Macomb Hospital - Warren Campus (http://www. henryfordmacomb. com) recently deployed a new communications solution, PerfectServe (http://www. perfectserve. com), to connect its doctors and nurses so they can better coordinate care.

"A significant problem in healthcare today is the lack of adequate communication," said Joanna Pease, D. O., vice president of medical affairs at Henry Ford Macomb - Warren. "We are addressing this communication issue in many ways, and PerfectServe is part of our strategy."

The hospital implemented PerfectServe to link every physician on staff via a single phone number. PerfectServe will enable clinicians to easily connect with the right physician in the right way, while enabling physicians to selectively filter and control the communications they receive. Clinical communication occurs faster, with greater efficiency and safety, and less hassle.

"Our nurses contact physicians at least four or five times per shift," said Josephine Wahl, vice president of patient care and chief nursing officer. "Before PerfectServe, they experienced problems reaching physicians at least once out of every three attempts. Now, with PerfectServe, we are finding that our nurses are able to reach physicians quicker and more easily, reducing delays in care."

Henry Ford Warren's sister facility, Henry Ford Macomb Hospital - Clinton Township, began using PerfectServe in 2006.

Henry Ford Macomb Hospital - Warren is a 203-bed facility in Warren, Mich. It is a member of the Henry Ford Health System, one of the nation's leading health care providers.

PerfectServe connects clinicians -- doctor-to-doctor and nurse-to-doctor -- so they can improve the coordination of care. With PerfectServe, clinicians dial one number to easily connect with the right physician in the right way, according to each doctor's precise instructions. PerfectServe lets physicians selectively filter and control the communications they receive based upon their workflow, call schedules and contact preferences. PerfectServe connects more than 12,500 physicians and hospitals in more than 150 U. S. markets. For more information, visit http://www. perfectserve. com (http://www. perfectserve. com).

What does the decline in the US currency have to do with the long term effects of Obamacare? Both will affect the savings of average Americans.

"There is no doubt about it. New healthcare regulations will affect the health of the economy overall as well as the financial health of individuals," says Elizabeth Lee Vliet, MD, a frequent FOX News guest and commentator on healthcare reform issues. "The falling dollar is just another sign for consumers that they need to act now and learn how to protect their financial assets."

According to Dr. Vliet, the healthcare reform bill is not just about healthcare; there are massive new taxes buried in the bill. Since many of these new taxes will go into effect January 1, 2011, Dr. Vliet wants to help educate consumers at the “Preserving Your Physical and Financial Health” conference to be held Nov. 4 – 7, in Belize.

As the conference founder, Dr. Vliet has assembled a respected group of internationally known financial advisers and estate planners to speak on issues such as how to protect retirement assets from the upcoming economic crisis and how to deal with the coming capital flow restrictions imposed by the H. I.R. E Act of 2010.

Conference seminars will also include ways to broaden health care treatment and insurance options while lowering costs.

"Since many of the issues of Obamacare will hit seniors, or those that are about to retire, the hardest, we've also included seminars on retiring abroad in places like Belize and understanding offshore health insurance," says Vliet who will host her own seminar on how to create a "healthcare" lifeboat.

"Ultimately I want conference attendees to walk away from this experience with the knowledge and a plan to stay financially and physically ‘healthy’ in an uncertain economy.”

New Total Wellness Cleanse Helps People Lose Weight and Cleanse Their Body of Deadly Toxins Just in Time For The Holidays!

New Total Wellness Cleanse Helps People Lose Weight and Cleanse Their Body of Deadly Toxins Just in Time For The Holidays!

The new 30-day holistic Total Wellness Cleanse™ becomes first full body and colon cleanse program to offer daily support and a personalized diet and lifestyle plan to lose weight, enjoy a more energetic and radiant body, and reach one's New Year's health resolutions - and without deprivation or gimmicky detox pills! Incredible holiday savings of up to 70% off the regular price of the cleanse ends this Saturday December 20, 2008 and is limited to only 200 motivated individuals who are looking to make 2009 their best year ever

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) December 16, 2008

Losing weight, eating healthier, overcoming holiday excess, and kick-starting the New Year fitter and healthier than ever is now possible thanks to the brand new Total Wellness Cleanse (http://www. totalwellnesscleanse. com/register. html)™.

Developed and lead by Total Wellness Consulting's renowned holistic nutritionists and wellness coaches, Yuri Elkaim and Amy Coates, the Total Wellness Cleanse™ is the only 30-day cleanse (http://www. totalwellnesscleanse. com/register. html) program to offer each member a highly-informative, food-based holistic approach to cleansing and detoxification (http://www. totalwellnesscleanse. com/register. html), daily support via phone and email, a personalized nutritional and lifestyle assessment, a customized 8-week dietary and lifestyle plan, a 12-week guided fitness program, and individual "one-on-one" coaching.

"January is the time when everyone wants to rid their bodies of the excess (food and alcohol) from the holidays and lose weight but the problem is that most people don't know how. Some people turn to quick-fix supplements or generic colon cleanse programs to lose weight and get healthy but they quickly fall off course because these avenues are most often too unrealistic and don't provide them with what's most important - the education, support, and personalized attention we all need to succeed in the long term. A little nutritional education and individual attention goes a long way, and we provide a lot!" says Elkaim.

Cleansing is an essential component to overall health. It helps remove toxins and acid accumulation from the liver, colon, and fat cells, and gives the body a "break" from constant stressors. A "master" cleanse should provide the nutritional support necessary to repair and heal the body's vital organs (liver, colon, kidneys, etc...), which are normally bombarded by a poor diet and lifestyle choices.

We cleanse for health, vitality, rejuvenation, and to help the body clear symptoms, treat disease, and prevent future problems. Cleansing is also valuable in helping us lose weight (http://www. totalwellnesscleanse. com/register. html), although this is not the primary purpose.

Yet, many people believe that a one-time colon cleanse (http://www. totalwellnesscleanse. com/register. html), colonix, or even doing the master cleanse will solve their health issues and help them lose weight. However, the reality is that without improving dietary and lifestyle habits, it is very difficult to lose weight and look and feel healthier in the long run. The body needs to be healed from the inside out and, thus, healthier eating and diet habits need to be formed for long-term success.

"Our goal is to provide participants with an experience that will change their body, their health, and their lives in a safe, effective, and highly supportive manner. Our holistic cleanse attends to the physical, emotional, and psychological elements of losing weight, health and overall well-being and teaches participants how to follow a healthy diet for life", adds Elkaim. "And since the cleanse is conducted on a "virtual" platform (Web, email, teleclasses, phone), there is no need for participants to travel to meetings or support groups since they can access all the information and support from the comfort of their own home. This allows us to provide a more personalized and thorough health transformation for people anywhere around the world."

The Total Wellness Cleanse™ runs from January 2 to January 31, 2009 and, because of its highly service-oriented approach, can only accommodate 200 motivated participants. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis and special holiday pricing ends this Saturday December 20, 2008 or when the 200-person capacity has been reached - whichever is first.

As a special holiday gift, registrants can save up to 70% off the regular price when they register for this highly anticipated cleanse today! To secure a spot in the Total Wellness Cleanse™, hurry over to http://www. TotalWellnessCleanse. com/register. html (http://www. TotalWellnessCleanse. com/register. html)].

Polypropylene Consumption to Cross 51 Million Metric Tons by 2010, According to New Report

Polypropylene Consumption to Cross 51 Million Metric Tons by 2010, According to New Report

Global consumption of Polypropylene (PP) is expected to witness healthy growth rate and cross 51 million metric tons by 2010. The resin is expected to evolve as one of the leading polyolefins in the near future. Polypropylene finds extensive application in Extrusion, Injection Molding, and Blow Molding industries. Polypropylene is one of the major polyolefins used in the packaging industry.

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) June 29, 2007

Global Polypropylene market (http://www. strategyr. com/MCP-2126.asp) is expected to increase steadily in the near future, making the resin a leading segment in the total polyolefins market. The growth can be tied up to the increasing applications in food packaging and auto component markets. Developments in technology have provided major players with the opportunity to move into niche markets, which were until recently the domain of smaller players. Economies of scale are a critical factor for determining success, as is the ability to develop products that meet specific requirements of the customers. End-markets for commodity plastics have grown in size and have become globally oriented, and producers need to adapt.

"Polypropylene: A Global Strategic Business Report" provides a comprehensive review of market trends, drivers, challenges, product overviews, players and competition. Emphasis is placed on consumption trends, product positioning strategies, consumer preferences, packaging trends, and flavor innovations, among others. The report also offers detailed company profiles and enumerates recent developments, mergers, acquisitions and other strategic industry activities. Analysis is presented for established/emerging geographic markets such as the United States, Japan, France, Germany, U. K., Italy, Spain, Asia and South America.

Asia-Pacific represents the largest market for PP, consuming an estimated 16.8 million metric tons in 2007, followed by Europe and the United States. Collectively the three regions are estimated to account for more than three-fourths of the global consumption of PP. Asia-Pacific region is also projected to be the fastest growing market, followed by South America. Injection molding (http://www. strategyr. com/MCP-2126.asp) depicts the largest as well as the fastest growing end use segment with a compounded annual rate of 6.4 percent. Extrusion (http://www. strategyr. com/MCP-2126.asp) end-use industry represents the second largest application for PP, followed by Blow molding (http://www. strategyr. com/MCP-2126.asp) end-use industries.

The Polypropylene industry is witnessing emergence of new PP companies, and the change of ownership of the existing players. Most of the new players are private owned companies that are headquartered in the Middle East, particularly in Saudi Arabia. Global capacity utilization rate is expected to be as high as 80 percent. Large numbers of PP plants owned by the major players are recording 100% capacity utilization rates, with their entire stocks being sold out. Europe and the US are demonstrating impressive capacity utilizations. Increasing numbers of industry players are expanding their production capacities to meet the augmenting demand for PP resin. However, on the other hand, as the demand for propylene is outstripping gasoline demand, supply of propylene monomer is becoming tighter by the day. Nevertheless, plans are underway to start on-purpose production of propylene in future. China continues to be the significant importer of polypropylene and drive the market for PP along with India.

The market is characterized by the presence of privately owned specialized manufacturers as well as chemical powerhouses. Key players in the marketplace include Alfa S. A. De C. V., Basell Polyolefins, Borealis A/S, Innovene, Dow Chemical Company, DSM NV, Equistar Chemicals, ExxonMobil Chemical Co., Huntsman Corporation, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, Reliance Industries Ltd., Royal Dutch/Shell Group, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), Sunoco Chemicals, UBE Industries Ltd., and Union Carbide.

Ozonelite, the future of indoor air quality just got brighter

Ozonelite, the future of indoor air quality just got brighter.

OZONELite is a titanium dioxide-coated, energy efficient 23-watt light bulb that when illuminated the OZONELite's photocatalytic action results in the effective elimination of bacteria, viruses, fungi, mold, smoke and odors.

(PRWEB) February 5, 2004

Where can the OZONELite have the greatest impact?

Allergy, Asthma and the Effects on Our Healthcare System

"You are not alone. More than 60 million people in America have asthma or allergies, costing the United States economy over $20 billion each year in hospitalizations, medical services, lost productivity at work or school and more."

—Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America

"One-third to one-half of all structures have damp conditions that may encourage development of pollutants such as molds and bacteria, which can cause allergic reactions — including asthma — and spread infectious diseases."

—United States Environmental Protection Agency

More > http://www. ozonelite. com/allergy. html (http://www. ozonelite. com/allergy. html)

Indoor Air Pollution

"Indoor air pollution is consistently ranked among the top five environmental risks to public health. It is the most serious environmental health problem affecting humans, bigger than toxic waste sites or the destruction of the ozone layer."

—United States Environmental Protection Agency

"Environmental Protection Agency's Total Exposure Assessment Methodology (TEAM) studies found levels of about a dozen common organic pollutants to be two to five times higher inside homes than outside, regardless of whether the homes were located in rural or highly industrial areas. Additional TEAM studies indicate that while people are using products containing organic chemicals, they can expose themselves and others to very high pollutant levels, and elevated concentrations can persist in the air long after the activity is completed."

—United States Environmental Protection Agency

Cleaning up the Environment and the Energy Crisis

"If every household in the United States replaced one light with a compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL), it would prevent enough pollution to equal removing one million cars from the road."

—Energy Star

"Lighting directly affects our economy. As a nation, we spend about one-quarter of our electricity budget on lighting, or more than $37 billion annually. Technologies developed during the past ten years can help us cut lighting 30% to 60% while enhancing lighting quality and reducing environmental impacts."

—United States Department of Energy

Smoke and Household Odors

"Untold millions of dollars are being spent each year for the purpose of ridding homes of smoke and household odors generated by kitchens, nurseries, pets, etc. These chemicals in most cases including organic cleaning chemicals are harmful to humans and animals and merely mask odors.

Hepa filters and ionozers trap airborne pollutants but do not destroy them, and many studies have shown them to be less than five percent effective."

Thomas A. Edison said it best: "There is always a way to do it betterÂ…find it!" We did. For detailed information on how OZONELite greatly impacts each of the above topics please visit www. ozonelite. com or contact the Public Relations department.

U. S. News & World Report's Cover Story Reports that "Alternative Medicine Goes Mainstream" ... 7 Steps to Your Best Possible Healthcare Book Provides More Insight

U. S. News & World Report's Cover Story Reports that "Alternative Medicine Goes Mainstream" ... 7 Steps to Your Best Possible Healthcare Book Provides More Insight

Author Dr. Ruthann Russo addresses recent focus on alternative medicine as highlighted in U. S. News story

Bethlehem, PA (PRWEB) January 23, 2008

In its most recent issue, the U. S. News & World Report addresses alternative medicine. The cover states, "Top hospitals are now embracing such unconventional techniques as acupuncture, homeopathy, and energy healing." The article reports that recognized leaders in medicine such as the Mayo Clinic, Duke University Medical Center and the University of California-San Francisco offer acupuncture, massage and other Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) services.

In her new book, 7 Steps to Your Best Possible Healthcare, Dr. Ruthann Russo dedicates an entire chapter to Complimentary, Alternative and Naturopathic medicine. Russo takes a conventional approach to the unconventional by introducing readers first to several well known and well respected mainstream physicians who support and practice CAM. Among them are Dr. Ronald Hoffman, Dr. Mehmet Oz, and Dr. Christiane Northrup. Russo also describes Naturopathic Medical Schools (there are four in the country) and the 14 states that currently license naturopaths (NDs) as primary care physicians. With the increased acceptance of CAM and the shortage of primary care physicians, perhaps more states may be in line to license naturopathic doctors.

Russo describes the five major types of complimentary and alternative therapy: (1) Whole Medical Systems (like Chinese or Indian (Ayurveda) medicine) (2) Mind-Body medicine, like meditation (3) Biologically-based practices, like herbal medicine (4) Manipulative and Body-based practices, like chiropractic medicine, and (5) Energy Medicine, like Reiki and Quigong. She also provides a check list to use when deciding how and when to use CAM.

The 7 Steps book is an essential guide for crafting your own personal health plan. It identifies and provides tools and suggestions for healthcare consumers to navigate their way through the U. S. healthcare system. Dr. Russo has written five books used by managers in the healthcare industry. Hospitals throughout the country use her training programs to assist their physicians and clinicians in providing quality care to their patients. Find out more about the book at http://www.7StepsHealth. com (http://www.7StepsHealth. com)].

In an effort to educate healthcare consumers and make the process fun, 7 Steps is partnering with Happy Times in Healthcare to sponsor a contest for anyone who signs up for its healthcare newsletters between now and May 1. The Grand Prize for the contest is a, five night, six day trip to Disney World for four people. RIAS Launches its First Ever Brand Response TV Advertising Campaign

RIAS Launches its First Ever Brand Response TV Advertising Campaign

Over 50s specialist insurance provider RIAS has launched its first ever Brand Response TV advertising campaign entitled 'Better with Age' to support its brand refresh, new brand vision and proposition.

Bournmouth, UK (PRWEB) September 1, 2009

The campaign airs for the first time on Tuesday 1 September, and will run for an initial two month period during September and October. 'Better with Age' is the first major public exposure for the insurer's new brand vision and proposition, and features RIAS's new brand strapline of RIAS (http://www. rias. co. uk), where insurance gets better with age'.

The advert highlights real life consumer stories, showcasing three inspirational individuals who have all achieved something extraordinary after they have turned 50 years old:

Linda was 60 years old when she became the oldest woman in the world to swim across the English Channel, and is featured in the Guinness Book of World Records.

At 55 years old Terry gave up her career as a teacher. She then started to train llamas -- a passion of hers. Terry and her husband, Tim, now train llamas full time, and Tim is President of the British Llama Society.

Barrie learnt to read and write at the age of 58, after leaving school with his severe dyslexia going unnoticed. He now enjoys writing poetry, and has been recognised as the 2009 National Senior Learner of the Year for his achievements. Barrie now volunteers part-time to help other adults with their reading and writing.

Created by Watson Phillips Norman, the advert features each of the three over 50s achievers talking about their experiences after the age of 50, with the aim of dispelling stereotypes. The advert recognises that over 50s are active, individual, busy and experienced, and want to deal with an insurance provider who listens to their needs, doesn't make assumptions and gives them choices about their cover.

In addition, the advert highlights the savings people over 50 can enjoy on their car insurance, for example taking advantage of RIAS's up to 9 years No Claims Discount, as well as a number of other factors such as simply being retired or keeping cars in the garage.

The advert will air on ITV, C4, Five and satellite and cable channels.

Leigh Calton, Head of Brand Management at RIAS comments: "Our new TV ad is the start of an exciting new journey for RIAS (http://www. rias. co. uk), and supports our ambition of becoming the first choice financial services retailer for the over 50s. Whilst other competitors are cutting back on TV advertising, we believe that our new ad will raise brand awareness and make us stand out from the rest. With over a million customers across the UK, we aim to really understand over 50s consumers, and to be an insurance brand with a difference."

Customers can contact RIAS on 0800 130 30 30, or online at http://www. rias. co. uk (http://www. rias. co. uk)]

RIAS was established in 1992 and is a specialist provider of insurance products (http://www. rias. co. uk) for the over 50s age group.

Part of Fortis (Insurance UK), RIAS has nearly a million motor, home and travel insurance customers, employs over 1,100 people across two UK sites, and is one of the UK's fastest organically growing insurance intermediaries. RIAS negotiates with a panel of insurers to secure competitive, value for money products.

As a leading provider of award-winning personal and commercial lines insurance solutions in the UK, Fortis has a successful customer-centric strategy, founded on aligning its activities to how customers want to buy insurance, combined with delivering high quality products, manufactured at costs better than market norms.

Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) April 5, 2006

Marine Plankton attacks cancer, diabetes, fibromyalgia, cataracts, rashes, asthma and other health problems. One man's battle with a rare cancer "mesothelioma" brought about this miracle wellness discovery. It is amazing alternative use without the side effects of traditional medicine.

Tom Harper, a sea farmer in northern British Columbia, has created a 30 million dollar facility on the edge of the northern Pacific Ocean to grow marine phytoplankton year round to feed his shellfish. His process recreates the "Spring Bloom" of marine phytoplankton 365 days a year. The sea farm gives back in a very unique way. First, it provides a resource for the researchers onsite and second, it puts a daily supply of marine phytoplankton back in the ocean.

"The reef beneath their farm is rebuilding due to the extra Marine Phytoplankton…Sea Otters and Bald Eagles have moved back into the area due to the abundance of new fish and sea life that have returned," says Tiffany Haarsma, also of the sea farm. "Not to mention the extra oxygen created by the plankton every day in the 8 - 1 million liter growing tanks." When he developed a serious health challenge whereby doctors gave him only months to live, Tom Harper decided to start eating his phytoplankton. He thought, "If it is good for my fish, why not me?" Harper attributes his recovery to eating phytoplankton. Phytoplankton provides nutrition for human cells.

Http://www. frequensea-marine-plankton. com (http://www. frequensea-marine-plankton. com)

Dr. Jerry Tennant, M. D., from Tennant Institute of Integrative Medicine, says, "There are few products that provide all, or even most Sea Farm Finds Sustainable Balance in Marine Phytoplankton essential amino acids, more Omega 3's than fish oil, Vitamin A, Selenium, Iodine and others. It may be no coincidence that the composition of human plasma is similar to sea water. With our over-reliance on land based food sources, we have developed deficiencies in micronutrients and trace elements.

Jacque Cousteau stated, "The future of nutrition is found in the ocean." Part of the proceeds from the sale of a supplement rich in phytoplankton nutrients, FrequenSea with Phytoplankton, support further marine research projects that have a focus on preserving the oceans resources. For more information see the web site http://www. frequensea-marine-plankton. com (http://www. frequensea-marine-plankton. com) for the documentary short called "Another Day" that tells the story of Tom Harper, the sea farmer who discovered how to make phytoplankton available for human consumption or call Brett Hudson 954-465-7202.

Earth's Original Food Source

Dr. Jerry Tennant, MD, also explains how elements and electrolytes in marine phytoplankton are almost tailor-made for the human body. Our internal bodies reflect that we came from the sea. Our bodies need the elements present in marine phytoplankton to perform as nature intended. The human body has a marvelous system called homeostasis, which keeps all systems in balance. When the body is in balance it will heal itself. Tiffany Haarsma also agrees and stresses that there is a great responsibility in taking marine phytoplankton to the market. People must understand that this is simply a very super rich nutrient whole food source for human body. http://www. frequensea-marine-plankton. com (http://www. frequensea-marine-plankton. com)
