New Moves To Alert UK to Dangers of Suicide-Linked Acne Drug

New Moves To Alert UK to Dangers of Suicide-Linked Acne Drug

Pressure is growing on medical authorities in Britain to take action over the use of the acne drug Roaccutane/Accutane following its link to side effects including depression, psychosis, attempted and real suicide.

(PRWEB) November 29, 2001

A new Roaccutane/Accutane Action group will be formed by victims of the drug and their relatives at the Novotel, Hammersmith at 2.00 pm on Saturday December 1 with the aim of raising awareness over the use of the drug among the public and medical world, bring pressure for a change in its labelling and to help organise legal action in cases where it has been specifically linked to attempted and actual suicides.

MPs have received detailed information in order to have questions raised at Westminster and already a leading member of the Scottish Parliament has promised to take action.

The drug, manufactured by Roche is marketed as Roaccutane in Europe and Accutane in the US.

So far the lack of action in the UK contrasts markedly with extreme concern demonstrated in the United States where Congress is about to hold a second public hearing into the psychiatric side effects of the drug in January ( the first US Congressional hearing was held on 6th December 2000). The U. S. licensing authority, the Federal Drugs Administration have also held separate public meetings on psychiatric side effects and are engaged in a full scale investigation.

In the UK the Medical Control Agency (MCA) released figures in February 2001 stating that since the introduction of the drug in 1982, 1,795 adverse reactions have been recorded on their database, of which 23 were fatal, 14 being actual suicides. More than 200 of the adverse reactions were psychiatric with 20 reports of suicidal thoughts or suicide attempts. There were 80 reports of depression and 13 reports of mood swings. In the US there are believed to have been in excess of 500 suicides, attempted suicides and suicide ideation recorded for the drug.

The meeting will also give sufferers here an update on legal proceedings in both the US and the UK where a new team of lawyers are about to be appointed to investigate the background to the drug ahead of proceedings. £10,000 of legal aid was granted some years ago but this was not enough to carry out the painstaking research necessary to bring actions. Now the 100+ UK legal cases will be able to borrow on much of the costly “ legal discovery” work already well down the track in the US.

The group is not calling for Roaccutane to necessarily be banned but for there to be much stricter controls on its use. It is licensed in the UK for use as a drug that should only be used for severe cystic acne, a treatment of “last resort” but some 74% of UK patients prescribed Roaccutane had mild or moderate acne according to a study among UK dermatologists.

The meeting will also explain just what is happening in the UK and in other

Countries with research into the psychiatric side effects. There are over 40 independent studies published in medical journals linking the ingestion of the drug to the emergence of depression, psychosis and suicidal thoughts/actions.

If you would like to attend the meeting or gather more background on Roaccutane/Accutane please contact David Wallen/John Cox at LIVEpr on 020 7630 1100 and we can put you directly in touch with those who have suffered, along with lawyers and others involved. More extensive details can also be found on www. roaccutaneaction. com.

Objectives of the Group

In our view:

· Accutane should only be used for severe recalcitrant cystic acne as a treatment of last resort, in accordance with the license. We believe that more than 80% of patients prescribed Accutane have mild or moderate acne, which is in violation of the license. A study published by Cunliffe (Leeds University Hospital) involving survey of several hundred dermatologists showed that 74% of patients were prescribed Accutane for mild or moderate acne. Prescribing Doctors should be required to certify that patient's acne is within the license guidelines.

· The immediate provision of medical advice and assistance should be organised by national health authorities and made available to people who have suffered adverse reactions. Appropriate medical treatments must be devised to counteract the serious side effects linked to the medication.

· Patients should be psychiatrically assessed before and during Roaccutane treatment (for example by using the Hamilton scale of depression questionnaire) and in the event of an adverse reaction, the patient should be immediately taken off the treatment and the adverse event should be reported to the national health authority.

· Sale of Accutane on the Internet should be immediately prohibited. Patient should have all the appropriate tests (blood tests, pregnancy tests) prior to and during treatment and this needs to be strictly enforced.

· Independent studies need to be carried out to establish exactly how Roccutane functions in the human body and to determine the chemically induced changes that occur in the brain and other parts of the body arising from the ingestion of the drug. Roche have continuously failed to carry out such studies. We believe that the license for Roaccutane should be withdrawn until such studies are carried out..

· Independent investigation of Roche (manufacturers) and their ADR database. The investigation should also assess whether Roche made adequate disclosure to national drug monitoring agencies, prescribing doctors, the public, patients and the families of patients regarding Adverse drug reactions (ADRs).

· To establish by public enquiry the extent to which Roche failed to make adequate disclosure of information on side-effects, scientific literature reports, adverse drug reaction reports to National Health Authorities and Dermatologists.

· To establish why Roche failed to commission scientific studies on psychiatric effects of Roaccutane.

· To investigate the extent to which Roche failed to disclose serious side effects revealed at pre trial studies conducted by Roche as part of process for obtaining licence for sale of Roaccutane.

· To investigate all Roche adverse reaction data bases in order to determine whether individual case reports have been passed on by Roche to national agencies and whether comparison of data recorded by Roche in respect of individual patients is consistent with the actual report prepared by doctors and submitted to Roche in respect of individual patients.

· To secure the appointment of an independent international committee to investigate all aspects of the medication from it's original development, pre trial studies, adverse reaction data bases, scientific literature reports, failure by Roche to carry out any investigations whatsoever with a view to determining the mechanism by which the medication caused so many serious side effects, investigation of senior Roche executives and persons in the pay of Roche who promoted increased use of the medication without reference to serious, predictable and known side effects. That such a committee should include independent medical specialists, medical statisticians, experienced investigators, and with legal powers that provide the committee with access to Roche local and global ADR data bases.

5 Things You Must Know Before You Retire So You Don’t End Up Living in Poverty or Suffering Emotionally

5 Things You Must Know Before You Retire So You Don’t End Up Living in Poverty or Suffering Emotionally

You are approaching potentially the most anticipated time in your life. It's called retirement. About half of today's workforce is at risk of poverty and emotional distress during retirement. With one in every three older people already living in poverty, and by some estimates, nearly 60% of retirees suffering from chronic depression at some point in time, do you know what you need to know and do to retire in financial, physical AND emotional comfort?

Orange County, CA (PRWEB) December 13, 2005

During a national campaign to educate and "sound-the-alarm" about the approaching demographical and fiscal storms coinciding with the retirement of the baby boomer generation, David Walker, the comptroller general of United States said, "We face a demographic tsunami that will never recede." This baby boomer "tsunami" will reach our "shores" in two short years, and will forever change the way people think about retirement, for better or worse.

According to Matthew D. Hutcheson, Independent Pension Fiduciary, whether you will enjoy a satisfying and secure retirement is more dependent upon what you know, than your age or circumstances. "Our world and society are profoundly different that they were as little as 2 decades ago. Retirement itself is rapidly changing. A person needs more understanding and knowledge than their parents or grandparents did," says Hutcheson. "There are five things you MUST know before you retire so you don’t end up living in poverty or suffering emotionally. They go against the grain of conventional retirement advice,” he continues.

Hutcheson, who has helped tens-of-thousands of people prepare for retirement, has concluded that there are five simple principles that successful retirees know and live by. He asserts that the opposite is also true. Those who do not understand these principles will fail to implement them in their lives. By so doing, they inadvertently create the opportunity for confusion, stress, depression and significant failure in retirement.

To help people who are interested in a stress free retirement discover a better understanding, Hutcheson has prepared an audio presentation with optional PowerPoint, that explains the five things a person must know before they retire that dispels many commonly accepted myths. The CD gives short descriptions of the underlying concepts and principles, and also provides an action item for the participant to engage in. The purpose of the action item is to move the knowledge from theory to practice, thereby empowering you with knowledge you can apply immediately. "This presentation is both a thinking tool, and an action item tool. If we know what to do, we should do it. This presentation helps people know what they should know, and do what they should do," Hutcheson added.

For well over a decade, Hutcheson, has been curious about the seemingly small factors, "bits-of-knowledge" or other influences that "tip" one's retirement from fulfilling and comfortable to stressful and poverty stricken. These "bits" of knowledge as he calls them, have proven ironically elusive to most people because their underlying principles are so simple and obvious, that they go unnoticed on their own. “Many of the so-called experts help to spread many myths about what it takes to retire comfortably,” exhorts Hutcheson. However, when these simple concepts and principles are carefully combined in a logical, sequential and strategic way, a person can be empowered to create a healthier, more emotionally secure, more certain retirement.

This presentation can be purchased and downloaded online by visiting http://www.5thingsyoumustknow. com, http://www. americasretirementcoach. com, http://www. theretirementhourblog. com, http://www.401khelpcenter. com and other websites that focus on helping our citizens prepare for retirement. The cost of the downloadable audio presentation is $17.98. Add $9.00 for the downloadable audio and the PowerPoint presentation. The whole presentation shipped on CD is $34.98.

As an added bonus, when you download the "5 things" audio presentation, Hutcheson will mail a copy of his "Retirement Playbook," (a popular audio CD that retails for $24.95) to you absolutely FREE.

You can listen to Matthew D. Hutcheson on the radio, every Thursday at 4 PM Pacific, 7 PM Eastern on a station near you. Check local listings. Audio stream also available over the Internet by visiting http://www. theretirementhour. com or http://www. retirementhourblog. com.

Cystex Know Your Bladder Better: Women Advised to "Take a Seat," Even in Public Restrooms…Doctor's Orders

Cystex Know Your Bladder Better: Women Advised to "Take a Seat," Even in Public Restrooms…Doctor's Orders

Elizabeth Kavaler, M. D., Board-Certified Urologist, Clears up the Great "To Sit or Squat" Debate

Edison, NJ (PRWEB) May 13, 2009

It's no secret that women don't like public restrooms: a recent survey conducted by Cystex® (http://www. cystex. com/Pages/CystexHome_v2) urinary relief tablets finds that 70% of women indicated they have walked out of a public restroom without using it because they felt it was "too dirty." However, if you squat when you urinate in a public restroom to avoid an infection from the toilet seat, you may actually be doing more harm then good.

According to Elizabeth Kavaler, M. D., (http://www. cystex. com/Pages/index. php? src=forms&id=Cystex_askthedoctor) urologist and author of "A Seat on the Aisle, Please! The Essential Guide to Urinary Tract Problems in Women," (Copernicus Books, 2006), squatting over the seat can actually prevent the complete emptying of the bladder, which can lead to infection, especially in women who are prone to urinary tract infections(UTIs).

"When you squat over the toilet seat, you keep your pelvic muscles contracted, which reduces your ability to empty your bladder completely, as you would be able to if you were sitting and relaxed," explains Dr. Kavaler, who is one of 500 female urologists in the United States specializing in female urinary tract issues. "When the bladder doesn't empty completely, the remaining urine can become a breeding-ground for bacteria, which may lead to a UTI."

"If there are no toilet seat covers available, line the seat with toilet paper and take a seat," advises Dr. Kavaler. "It's important to note that you will not catch any infection, including STDs, from sitting on a public toilet seat."

To help women better understand their bladder health, including UTIs, Dr. Kavaler is the featured expert of the new Cystex "Know Your Bladder Better" video series at the Cystex Web site. An embeddable video player (http://bridgit. com/knowyourbladderbetter) allows you to post the videos on a Web site, blog, etc. Women can also connect with Dr. Kavaler directly by visiting the interactive feature "Ask the Urologist (http://www. cystex. com/Pages/index. php? src=forms&id=Cystex_askthedoctor)."

Visit www. cystex. com for more information.

Please note that the new "Ask the Urologist" and Q&A with Dr. Kavaler on the Cystex Web site or other sites associated with the Cystex Web site is for informational purposes only and should not be construed as a personal medical diagnosis or formal medical advice. Lone Star Expeditions Is the First Wilderness Program to Fully Integrate a Ropes Challenge Course into a Therapeutic Adventure for Teens

Lone Star Expeditions Is the First Wilderness Program to Fully Integrate a Ropes Challenge Course into a Therapeutic Adventure for Teens

Lone Star Expeditions, a therapeutic alternative to boot camps for teens, integrates adventure therapy with cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing to help defiant teens and their families.

Groveton, TX (PRWEB) January 14, 2008

Lone Star Expeditions, a wilderness therapy program for teens, is the first wilderness program to integrate a ropes therapy course into the weekly therapeutic curriculum.

Lone Star Expeditions specializes in helping troubled teens who have behavioral, emotional, or substance abuse issues. A few hours north of Houston, Texas, Lone Star teens experience a wilderness adventure that removes them from the distractions of modern life that often prevent them from examining and changing their self-destructive behaviors. Teens learn wilderness skills as they trek through the Texas "outback."

"Having worked with the ropes course for over five years," explains Field Director Melvin Cates, "We've decided to unlock the magic of the experiential activities provided. We realized we would be missing a great opportunity if we only used this power once or twice during a student's stay with us. Since deciding to integrate the course into weekly work, we've seen cognitive behavioral, motivational intervention, and adventure based techniques come alive with full potential."

A Ropes Challenge Course offers another powerful way to reach defiant teens who are often unwilling to fully open up in traditional "talk therapy" and are reluctant to challenge themselves.

"We recognized that the course work not only had a powerful impact on our teens, but offered us a unique perspective on these kids' behavior within groups. We realized weekly ropes course work would help them improve their relationships with their parents and other family members. In effect, the team-building aspect of the ropes course experience became a testing ground for these teens to learn how to better interact with their parents and peers," explains Mike Bednarz, Executive Director of Lone Star Expeditions.

The use of a ropes course in a therapeutic program is based on the theory that by taking teens out of their comfort zone and helping them have a successful experience you build confidence and create the right environment for positive, and often profound, change.

"Our therapists not only observe the ropes initiatives, but actively participate with the students, which creates a foundation for positive interactions that can help young people who may have had negative therapeutic experiences in the past that created roadblocks to change," says Julie Elliott, Clinical Director of Lone Star Expeditions, "The ropes course work also provides a framework that readily encompasses the philosophy of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. The ropes initiatives create constant opportunities to utilize the DBT skill sets of Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, and Distress Tolerance."

Lone Star's therapeutic wilderness camp offers a unique alternative to boot camps and military schools. Teens spend four to six weeks in a natural outdoor environment while working with licensed therapists. University-based research validates the effectiveness of outdoor treatment for youth struggling with behavioral problems or substance abuse. Lone Star's highly effective program has been featured on Dateline NBC.

Lone Star Expeditions is part of Aspen Education Group, a network of over 30 programs in 13 states that provide enlightened, innovative approaches to help young people struggling with behavioral challenges, emotional issues, or substance abuse. Aspen's programs have been profiled by major news and television organizations, including: CNN, National Public Radio, U. S. News & World Report, USA Today, ABC's "Good Morning America" and the syndicated TV program "Dr. Phil." For over two decades, Aspen Education Group has been achieving successful outcomes for families through its boarding schools, wilderness therapy programs, summer camps, and residential treatment centers. Aspen Education Group is a division of CRC Health Group.

Yes, Virgina Wireless LAN does Work

Yes, Virgina Wireless LAN does Work

Press Release: For Immediate Release Technocrats Consulting: Hayt Elementary School Revisited Yes, Virginia Wireless LAN does work. Contact: Howard Lee President 773-384-2731 Email hlee@magicaldesk. com

(PRWEB) February 6, 2002

Chicago, IL Feb 2002 — The news has not been good for wireless LAN technology of late with the loss of MobileStar and Omnisky to name a few in the wireless technology market. Now many businesses and investors are wondering if wireless LAN/WAN with its ever-changing standards is worth deploying or investing in given the current state of the wireless LAN/WAN market. There have been some bright spots in the wireless market that has gone under the media radar. One of those bright spots is Technocrats wireless LAN project at Chicago’s Hayt Elementary School the summer of 2001. Now in 2002 we are revisiting our Hayt project to see how wireless LAN has preformed for Hayt.

Hayt Project History

The problem: Hayt Elementary had two wireless system installed; the Apple Airport for the Apple ibooks and Lucent with Dell Inspiron using a mobile cart to transport laptops from class to class. Unfortunately the Apples could not be in the same room with the Dells due to incompatibility with each other. The teachers wanted a way to combine both wireless systems and free themselves from using mobile carts to deliver laptops to students in smaller groups. The catch was the new system had to be ready in thirty days without a disruption in services.

The solution: HaytÂ’s Tech coordinator contacted Proxim, the makers of the Harmony wireless PC LAN cards, and Technocrats Consulting to redesign HaytÂ’s present system to the new Proxim system. That included the installation of 49 access points throughout the school and 30 Harmony PCMCIA cards for the Dell Inspirons, the Apple iBooks built-in wireless cards were tuned to the Harmony access points. Creating one wireless network that now includes 75 laptops, both Apples and Dells. Time to deploy the call from Hayt April 30, 2001 the project was completed May 27, 2001. The wireless network has been in use since June 4, 2001.

Hayt Elementary Update:

The new wireless system at Hayt Elementary was officially launched on July 25, 2001 with a ceremony that was attended by members of the Chicago Public School System and CivicNet Chicago’s new citywide wireless MAN project as well as Scott Ruck, VP of Proxim Inc. At that ceremony Technocrats Consulting and Proxim presented the teaching staff and students with a plaque that marked their achievement becoming one of the first hybrid wireless schools in the state of Illinois. Local and state media outlets have also reported on the Hayt Elementary including CBS affiliate Channel 2 “School without Walls” report July 9, of 2001.

Reduce Sodium Intake by Using Mountain High Yoghurt

Reduce Sodium Intake by Using Mountain High Yoghurt

Mountain High Yoghurt is an excellent ingredient to help reduce sodium intake when used in recipes to replace high-sodium prepared foods. Using yoghurt as an ingredient to reduce sodium intake affords home cooks many tasty and wholesome options.

Denver, CO (PRWEB) July 7, 2010

All natural yoghurt is a great ingredient to help Americans reduce their sodium intake when used in home-made alternatives to prepared foods and condiments with high sodium counts. In the United States, reducing sodium intake is of national concern because excessive consumption can lead to long-term health problems that are now reaching epidemic proportions. Currently 32% of US adults have hypertension (high blood pressure) and another third struggle with pre-hypertension. In April 2010, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) recommended that the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) set mandatory national standards for sodium levels in processed foods in an effort to reduce sodium consumption and its consequent health risks. Mountain High Yoghurt offers many recipes for low-sodium alternatives to prepared foods as well as wellness tips on its website.

Excessive sodium consumption is a leading cause of hypertension, a known risk factor for heart disease, stroke, congestive heart failure and renal disease. Using yoghurt can help hypertension and pre-hypertension patients reduce their sodium consumption. A delicious, high-quality yoghurt that can satisfy taste buds reduces the need for added salt, making alternatives to high-sodium snacks, entrees, and side dishes just as tasty. “Using thick, creamy Mountain High Yoghurt to reduce sodium is a great start, because it contains no added salt; the only sodium in it is what occurs naturally in milk,” says Stephanie Green, a registered dietician and professional chef.

According to the authors of the IOM study that recommends salt regulation, 40 years of education and awareness campaigns to reduce sodium intakes have largely failed. The problem, some researchers contend, is that very high sodium counts can lurk in restaurant and prepared foods that Americans regularly consume without worry. “It’s commonly known that chips and snack foods are typically salty, for example, but some of the worst sodium ‘offenders’ are foods consumers might assume are relatively healthy, such as salad dressings, soups, and marinades,” Green explains.

Salad dressings: Most commercial or bottled salad dressings contain 12-20% of the maximum Daily Value (DV) for sodium per serving. “By making their own salad dressings with Mountain High Yoghurt, consumers can drastically reduce the sodium content per serving,” says Green. The freshness of the ingredients boosts the flavor naturally, she adds, so there’s little or no need for added salt. In Mountain High’s salad dressing recipes, available on the company’s website, the sodium content for a two-tablespoon serving equals 5% or less of the DV for sodium. “Mountain High’s Zesty Yoghurt Dressing, for example, contains only 2% of the maximum recommended daily amount of sodium for healthy adults, but it still offers plenty of zing. Their Ranch Dressing, which is very tasty, contains only 4%.”

Soups: Canned and prepared soups can be loaded with sodium. Home-made soups, even those prepared with low-sodium broths, can help reduce sodium intake. And making cream soups with low-sodium broth and yoghurt instead of heavy cream or half-n-half cuts not only sodium but also fat and cholesterol, other contributors to heart disease and high blood pressure. “Mountain High’s Butternut Squash and Pumpkin Soup is full-flavored and healthy, for example, but only contains 6% of the DV for sodium,” Green offers.

Marinades: Bottled marinades offer convenience but often high levels of sodium as well. Home-made yoghurt-based marinades are a great alternative for those looking to lower their sodium intake without sacrificing flavor. “Yoghurt is also a natural meat tenderizer, so it’s a win-win option for folks who want less sodium,” says Green.

Other ways to reduce sodium include using canned foods labeled with “No Added Salt.” Alternately, rinsing canned vegetables and legumes such as corn, peas, and garbanzo beans before use is good practice. Seasoning with herbs and spices rather than salt also helps. Citrus juices, vinegars, and garlic are other great flavor infusers that don’t add sodium. Foregoing notoriously salty foods like olives, chips, and salted nuts is an obvious first step. But the key to being happy about such choices, says Green, is to find tasty alternatives that are healthy. “If you must have a few chips, enjoy them with a home-made yoghurt-based dip.” Store-bought dips or packaged dip mixes are loaded with sodium, but home-made dips created with yoghurt can be low-sodium. “Remember, all these tips and recipes are simple, quick, and can really help,” Green adds. Above all, she recommends, it’s critical to read nutrition labels on everything to make informed choices.

About Mountain High: Mountain High’s refreshing taste and smooth and creamy texture have always made it a great alternative to prepared foods with high sodium counts. The best-selling quart-size yoghurt in the Western United States, this premium-quality yoghurt contains only natural ingredients, including rbST-free milk. With no added salt, every one-cup serving of Mountain High contains 7% or less of the DV for sodium, plus billions of the live, active, and probiotic cultures L. acidophilus, B. bifidus, and L. casei. American Chemistry Council Sets the Record Straight About Concerns About Toys and Phthalates as Holiday Shopping Season Approaches

American Chemistry Council Sets the Record Straight About Concerns About Toys and Phthalates as Holiday Shopping Season Approaches

As holiday shopping draws closer, the American Chemistry Council reiterates the strong safety profile of phthalates used in children's toys. Historical facts and scientific data overwhelmingly support the appropriate and continued use of phthalates in toys.

WASHINGTON, DC (PRWEB) November 21, 2006

As holiday shoppers everywhere start to think about finding the perfect gift, the American Chemistry Council (http://www. americanchemistry. com/s_acc/index. asp) urges those shopping for children to become informed about phthalates (http://www. phthalates. org/) used in production of many plastic toys. A recent flurry of attention has surrounded phthalates, stemming from European Union's recent ban of the substances, but the American Chemistry Council would like to prevent unnecessary concerns and point to some recent historical facts and scientific data:

-- The primary compound used to make vinyl soft and flexible is a plasticizer called diisononyl phthalates or DINP, which is a phthalate.

-- DINP has been selected for use because of its performance properties and strong safety profile.

-- The Consumer Product Safety Commission conducted a five-year study on DINP in vinyl toys and concluded that there is "no demonstrated health risk" and "no justification" for banning its use.

Although DINP has been banned by the European Commission (http://www. dinp-facts. com/pressrelease/details/index. asp? id=3), the scientific risk assessment, published by the Commission in April 2006, concluded that "…the end products containing DINP (clothing, building materials, toys and baby equipment) and the sources of exposure (car and public transport interiors, food and food packaging) are unlikely to pose a risk for consumers (adults, infants and newborns) following inhalation, skin contact and ingestion."

The American Chemistry Council asks that consumers keep this safety information in mind while shopping this holiday season. New Web Tool for Researchers in the Life Sciences Facilitates Information Retrieval & Sharing

New Web Tool for Researchers in the Life Sciences Facilitates Information Retrieval & Sharing

Research tool leverages collective knowledge base of online community.

Coram, New York (PRWEB) March 17, 2006

Today Scientific Information Processing and Health Sciences (SIPHS, LLC), announces the release of a peer based search engine for the life sciences research community. Unlike conventional search engines, which direct users to static content, siphs. com connects users with other researchers, effectively allowing them query the collective knowledge-base of their peers.

"Conventional search engines do an adequate job of providing a wealth of information, but oftentimes fail to focus and clarify the search results,” said Tom Sharpton, SIPHS, LLC co-founder. “This is where siphs. com can really help researchers. Directly engaging the information source expedites and enhances the search process."

The tool, available free of charge at www. siphs. com, is designed for life scientists in both industry and academia. Queries are submitted to the system in the form of a question and annotated with "Areas of Expertise" by the user. The question is then delivered to all Siphs users that have designated themselves as experts in the predefined areas. Information is supplied in the form of replies to the original message and discussions may ensue between users.

The Internet has provided scientists with many search tools, but none offer scientists the ability to efficiently interface with each other on the web to enhance their search experience. Prior to launch, researchers BETA tested siphs. com and their feedback was used to better tailor the tool’s utility to the life sciences research community.

In addition to providing a peer based search tool, siphs. com makes all queries and their respective replies available under a Creative Commons license. The information generated will be archived and serve as a repository of knowledge freely available on the web.

For more information, visit http://www. siphs. com (http://www. siphs. com).

Dr. Nigro Presents the Two Volumes of Everybody for Everybody

Dr. Nigro Presents the Two Volumes of Everybody for Everybody

Two Revealing Reads That Will Inspire Profound Reflection—the Product of Years of Learning

Cleveland Heights, OH (Vocus) May 23, 2010

Author Samuel Nigro presents the two volumes of his revealing book that will inspire profound reflection. The Everybody for Everybody: Truth, Oneness, Good, and Beauty for Everyone’s Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness Volumes I & II are the accumulation of what the author has learned over seventy years of life, almost fifty years of marriage, over forty years as a psychiatrist, and as a first generation American with five children and ten grandchildren.

These two books provide a look into a transcendental life—organized matter, sanctified and given a soul by identity, truth, oneness, good and beauty for everyone’s life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness—partially the subtitle of the book. Readers will get the substance of the transcendental principles for living that save by “actuality” for a change contrasting the virtual reality culture of the unreliable, manipulating self-discrediting noisy glitzy press and media imposed notions, which by suggestibility, turns everyone into aliens without choice instead of free individuals in the planet.

Against vulgar suggestibility and gullibility, these books will give anyone a real being by teaching six analogous ways of living—as a human particle by elementary physics, as a human being by community universals, as a Christian by the virtues, as a “patient” by the universal variables of all therapy, and, as if sanctified by the last words of the crucified Christ.

Except for the quantity, it is simple. Thousands of aphorisms and concepts about every imaginable topic are offered to teach ancient secrets from nature and nature’s God (to go back to the Founding Fathers of America). There is even a little Catcher in the Rye stuff and Borat like mocking of what passes today as human “sexuality.”

Dr. Nigro also encouraged everyone to read these books through once and then use it daily to be better and to learn to be a real human being for everyone. Readers can try to have their souls back by embracing the universal mass mantra: life-sacrifice-virtue-love-humanity-peace-freedom-death. To purchase Everybody for Everybody: Truth, Oneness, Good, and Beauty for Everyone’s Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness Volumes I & II, log on to Xlibris. com (http://www2.xlibris. com/bookstore/bookdisplay. aspx? bookid=67126).

Samuel A. Nigro, M. D. was born in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1937. He is a husband of one, a father of six, and a grandfather of ten. Dr. Nigro has over one hundred and thirty-five publications at the present time, ranging from a cover featured article in the Journal of American Medical Association to a series of children’s books. He has not ducked many issues writing about abortion, homosexuality, Pope Pius XII, the Holocaust, health care, evolution and science, Islam, sex education, family life, the right to childhood, and the press and media. He strongly believes that God gave mankind the Roman Catholic Church so that love and freedom could coexist.

Shocking Health Facts Discovered American Citizens

Shocking Health Facts Discovered American Citizens

Obesity is a major problem for many Americans which results in serious health risks. Unless all good diet attempts for a healthier life style, many people still experiencing problems with weight loss. Resulting in diabetes and other diseases.

(PRWEB) October 7, 2005

Obesity is a health problem that affects one-third of all adults and one-fourth of all children in this country. It is directly linked to such diseases as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

In fact, the American Heart Association recently reclassified obesity as an independent "major" risk factor for heart disease, rather than just a contributing one.

In addition to its role as a possible precursor to heart disease, obesity also has been shown to play a part in the development of many cancers (including colorectal, prostate, breast, and reproductive cancers), which can be negatively influenced by high-fat, low-fiber diets. The American Cancer Society has confirmed that obese patients with cancer were more likely to die than those of normal weight. Consequently, a study published this year in The New England Journal of Medicine demonstrated that higher weight led to a higher overall risk of death—regardless of cause.

With all of this evidence, why is obesity so prevalent in our country? As it turns out, the high levels of obesity found in the U. S. are not due to an increase in food consumption as might be expected. Americans as a whole consume less fat and fewer total calories than they did just two decades ago. Yet, there is a higher percentage of overweight people in our country now than ever before. How does one explain this paradox?

First, realize that an individual's weight is based upon the number of calories consumed relative to the number of calories expended through physical activity. Therefore, if consumption has decreased and the overall weight has increased in this country, then our physical activity must have decreased over the years. Corroborating this theory, a recent government report revealed that only 15% of adults in this country exercise regularly and that 25% of adults participate in no physical activity during their free time at all.

Physical activity and exercise are a vital to our maintaining good health and avoiding disease. However, it is far too easy to find reasons not to exercise. Many perceive such physical activity as too tedious, too inconvenient, or too time-consuming. But the truth about exercise is much different.

One need not spend hours each week in a gym "pumping iron" or running on a treadmill to reach adequate amounts of physical activity.

Even short bursts of activity integrated throughout one's usual daily activities can go a long way toward improving one's health and physical status. These activities might include using the stairs rather than an elevator, walking more, and playing golf or tennis.

Many people make long working days and find it hard to create time for sport and fitness. That is one reason why i appreciate nutritional supplementation.

It allows us to get results more efficiently by "working smarter", not harder or longer.

Even with low levels of exercise, natural herbal mixtures can boost thermogenesis. This generation of heat utilizes energy that might otherwise be stored as fat. Because thermogenesis increases the metabolic demands on the body (even while it is at rest!), it is common for people to report stories of losing substantial amounts of weight, even without exercising.

Since muscle tissue requires substantial energy even at rest, more muscle means more energy (calories) used up and an increase in Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). Likewise, the herb shi-shi induces the muscle cells to consume fat as a preferred energy source during activity. This results in a muscle sparing effect (producing less muscle breakdown) and, thus, promotes fat loss.

Weight loss can also be achieved through limiting the amount of energy (calories) consumed by the body. Thermogenesis can therefore satisfy the appetite. For example, shi-shi has a suppressant effect on the satiety centers in the hypothalamic region of the brain.

This process has a profound effect on this part of the brain by increasing levels of the neurotransmitter, serotonin. The net result of these supplements is to satisfy the appetite and minimize carbohydrate craving, which generally translates into decreased food intake and improved weight loss.

We should all strive to increase our daily caloric percentage of highly-absorbable, high-quality protein with negligible fat content. This will aid in preserving muscle mass during the catabolic period of increased exercise and calorie restriction and is an integral part of any program where an increase in muscle mass and decrease in body fat is desired.

Obesity is a significant problem affecting millions of Americans, both young and old. To effectively reduce one's weight, emphasis should be placed upon reducing the number of calories consumed while increasing the number of calories expended each day. Many people already achieved optimum weight loss results with this new shi-shi supplement even without structured physical activity.

Internet Marketer Ryan Deiss Just Released New Perpetual Traffic Formula Report

Internet Marketer Ryan Deiss Just Released New Perpetual Traffic Formula Report

Ryan Deiss, known for his quality internet marketing products, just released an organic listings product that is fast becoming one of the biggest launches of the year. His Perpetual Traffic Formula Report is being given away for free at the moment, and is receiving rave reviews from everybody.

Austin, TX (PRWEB) July 21, 2010

"Google is broken" - This is the headline on the newest creation from Ryan Deiss called Perpetual Traffic Formula. Ryan Deiss, known for his advanced internet marketing strategies, has now discovered a valuable organic listings formula. He will be sharing it with the public on July 28, 2010.

Organic listings have long been the Holy Grail for anyone with a website. With 42% of searchers clicking on the top organic spot, followed by 23% clicking any PPC link, and only 8% on the number 2 organic, the majority of traffic goes to the most optimized organic page. Once you’ve received the traffic paid advertising produces 25% less conversions than SEO. Visitors trust organic results more than their paid counterparts. 40% of organic campaigns aware of their ROI achieve returns in excess of 500% compared with only 22% of PPC campaigns achieving this value.

Organic listings are sometimes ignored by internet marketers because it can take time before you see results. With paid advertising you can ROI an offer immediately and see where your experiment stands. But with organic search your efforts are never wasted, they accumulate one on top of the other. Once you have substantial traffic to your site you can test different offers, products, and/or services without affecting your traffic or pocketbook. If you decide to stop your organic efforts you will continue receiving traffic for months. With the right formula you will receive higher quantity and quality of traffic for pennies a click.

With the same quality seen in all of Ryan’s products you can be sure Perpetual Traffic Formula is going to be a thorough, easy to understand formula that sets the standard for organic listings for years to come.

About The Company Ryan Deiss owns Infomastery Products aimed at teaching internet marketers successful marketing techniques. He owns multiple businesses in a variety of niches from finance, health and fitness, business to business and more. Always on the forefront of what’s working best on the internet just this year he produced the most popular program on Facebook Advertising.

Easing Social Anxiety During the Holidays: Tips from Harvard Women's Health Watch

Easing Social Anxiety During the Holidays: Tips from Harvard Women's Health Watch

For most people, family gatherings, parties, and other social activities are part of the fun of the holiday season. Not so for those with social anxiety disorder, who dread--or even avoid--social situations, reports the December 2008 issue of Harvard Women's Health Watch.

Boston (Vocus) December 2, 2008

For most people, family gatherings, parties, and other social activities are part of the fun of the holiday season. Not so for those with social anxiety disorder, who dread--or even avoid--social situations, reports the December 2008 issue of Harvard Women's Health Watch (http://www. health. harvard. edu/women).

It's perfectly normal to feel nervous about meeting new people or attending parties. But if you feel inordinately uneasy and self-conscious in such everyday social situations, and sometimes find yourself skipping them, you may have social anxiety disorder. The thought of proposing a toast, socializing with people you don't know well, or just making small talk may be terrifying. You may experience palpitations, sweating, confusion, or other symptoms of anxiety. Even if you make yourself socialize, you may feel miserable before, during, and afterward. The problem isn't limited to parties, but may affect your life at school and work, too.

Certain types of psychotherapy can help treat and manage social anxiety disorder. Cognitive behavioral therapy, the most widely studied intervention, aims to correct ingrained patterns of negative thinking and the behaviors they cause by helping people face their social fears directly. Medication may also be helpful.

If you suffer from social anxiety disorder, try to avoid isolation during the holidays, suggests Harvard Women's Health Watch. That only serves to reinforce social anxiety. If small religious or family events are the least threatening, stick with those. Be careful with alcohol--there are serious pitfalls in using it to ease your worries or boost your courage. Leave time for relaxation, eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and avoid caffeine. Finally, keep in mind that social anxiety is likely to get worse if left untreated.

Also in this issue:
Osteoporotic fractures of the spine  Hot flashes and cardiovascular disease  Alexander technique and back pain  At what age should I stop getting Pap tests? HSAs Continue to Grow Deposits and Customer Base

HSAs Continue to Grow Deposits and Customer Base

Banks and credit unions that are looking to grow their deposit base should look no further than their own backyard. As HSAs and consumer-driven health plans continue to grow, many local financial institutions are missing opportunities to keep HSA deposits in their community.

Lake Geneva, WI (PRWEB) February 10, 2009

HSA Clearing Corp, the leading Health Savings Account (HSA) setup provider for banks and credit unions nationwide, will be providing a seminar for banks and credit unions on how to offer Health Savings Accounts.

The seminar will be provided twice -- on February 26, 2009 at 11 am EST and at 3 pm EST. "Mr. HSA" Roy Ramthun and Tim Morales will provide information on how easy it is to have your financial institution set up in just a few days to offer HSAs; why it is important to offer investment options; cross marketing opportunities; and what kind of return can your financial institution expect on its investment? You may sign up for this seminar at www. hsaclearing. com.

Banks and credit unions that are looking to grow their deposit base should look no further than their own backyard. As HSAs and consumer-driven health plans continue to grow, many local financial institutions are missing opportunities to keep HSA deposits in their community.

"HSA Clearing Corp has been offering a low cost turn-key HSA program since 2004 and our program offers a positive ROI for our clients," said Tim Morales, President of HSA Clearing Corp. "Offering HSAs is a great way to grow your deposits and build your customer base. Using our proven turn-key HSA solution banks and credit unions are ahead of the game from the start. Buying and maintaining a special HSA software program only costs them money and they have to pass along set up fees, monthly and annual fees to the customer. Late last year we saw a major core processor unload their platform because it was not cost effective. Our customers have found that whether they open 50 or 5,000 HSAs in a given year they're still way ahead as they do not have monthly fees to pay out. These institutions came to us because we can get them up and offering HSAs in a matter of days without spending a lot of time and money on a costly integration program."

"Health Savings Accounts are making a difference to millions of Americans across the country," Morales said. "HSAs allow businesses, families and individuals to purchase affordable health insurance coverage and put away pre-tax dollars for into their HSA accounts for future health care expenses."

“The support provided by Martin, Harding & Mazzotti (http://www.1800LAW1010.com) helps increase awareness of the Ronald McDonald House in our community,” said Jeffery Yule, executive director of the RMHC. “With the firm’s help, the House will continue to fulfill its mission, while allowing us to build stronger relationships with new friends and volunteers helping families in need throughout the Capital Region.”

Martin, Harding & Mazzotti was honored as the recipient of the first-annual RMHC Spirit of the House Award, which is awarded to an individual, group or business in recognition of their exemplary support of the mission of the RMHC. Paul B. Harding (http://www.1800law1010.com/personal_injury_new_york_about/paul_harding_personal_injury_law_lawyer. php), managing partner of Martin, Harding & Mazzotti, was on hand to accept the award on behalf of the firm.

“The Ronald McDonald House is one of the most important organizations in our area and Martin, Harding & Mazzotti is proud to help make the 2010 Radiothon a success,” said Harding. “The firm is honored to receive the Spirit of the House Award and we look forward to continuing our support of the House for years to come.”

A supporter of RMHC since 2005, Martin, Harding & Mazzotti (http://www.1800LAW1010.com) continues to provide significant financial support, which directly impacts the RMHC mission and their ability to serve the many needs of children and families in the area.

The Radiothon provides approximately $150,000 in direct financial support to RMHC according to Yule. “The event provides an immeasurable amount of public awareness that results not only in new donors, but also in new volunteers and friends that join the RMHC family who become an integral part of how we fulfill the needs of the thousands of families we serve annually.”

About Ronald McDonald House Charities
The idea behind Ronald McDonald House is based on a simple theme: providing a “home away from home” for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals. At a time that is often painful for children and their anxious parents and siblings, the House offers a warm and comforting setting where family members can be “at home” together. Each generous donation to RMHC provides families the most important commodity of all: time. By eliminating cooking, cleaning and travel time, Ronald McDonald House allows families to gain an additional four hours with their children every day.

Learning a few helpful tips about toy safety can prevent many unnecessary accidents and help children get the most enjoyment out of their toys.

(PRWEB) November 28, 2004

When purchasing toys for children there are two important things to keep in mind:

Choose toys that are appropriate for the child's age. Children tend to want 'big kid' toys, but this may present potential harm for the child. Keep in mind the child's interests and abilities. Toys too advanced may frustrate the child instead of helping them to learn and have fun.

Smart shoppers always read product labels. These labels can provide important information about appropriate age levels, safety warnings, and instructions. Read the instructions, if provided, before letting your child use the toy. Improper use or assembly of the toy may be unsafe for the child. The Toy Industry Association, Inc. gives basic criteria for labels. The criteria include:

Safety warnings such as choking hazards, flame retardant/flame resistant, and proper toy care instructions. Safety certification as indicated by the initials UL on the label representing Underwriters Laboratories, a product testing and certification organization. Physical ability of a child to manipulate the toy. Cognitive ability to understand how to use the toy. Interests of the child.

When shopping for children under the age of three, avoid toys that have sharp edges or points and toys with strings. Avoid toys with small parts as they can present possible choking hazards. Toys should be large enough so as not to become stuck in a child's throat. According to the American Red Cross, objects the size of buttons, beads, coins, nuts and grapes all represent potential choking hazards. Inspect all toys before giving them to children. Toys should be sturdy and able to withstand the wear and tear of a child. Old toys should also be periodically inspected for safety. If a toy is broken, repair it immediately. If it cannot be properly fixed, throw the toy away.

Not sure what age appropriate toys to purchase for your child? The Toy Industry Association, Inc. suggests the following gift ideas:

Birth to Six Months:

Rattles Soft Dolls Floor Gyms Musical Toys Teething Toys Safety Mirrors

Six Months to One Year:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

The makers of Biotrex Memory+ Vitamin formula want you to live every moment of your life and remember every moment of your life. Remember more - NOW!

(PRWEB) March 3, 2003

HUNTINGTON, NY – “Where did I put my...” It starts simply enough. You forget where your house keys are. You might forget to do a report for work or school. Then there's the day when you can't remember where you parked your car in the mall parking lot. Sounds familiar?

You might think that you are losing your mind, but really, you probably arenÂ’t. We all want our minds to be alert and healthy as we get older, but we also want a mind that is working at top performance today. People who have poor nutrition and lifestyle can experience mental decline as early as age 30 and for others memory begins to fade during their mid 40s.

PeopleÂ’s jobs are much more stressful now. Most people work under the threat of losing their jobs in this weak economy. Staff reductions have probably given you more work than a human being can keep up with. If youÂ’ve lost your job, the stress and confusion only adds to the problem. Memory loss sneaks in when stress levels are high.

Then thereÂ’s AlzheimerÂ’s. AlzheimerÂ’s robs you of your memory. The effect of the buildup of beta amyloid in the brain, caused by a variation of a gene known as CYP46, is memory loss and dementia better known as Alzheimer's. After study, people who suffered from Alzheimer's more often had high levels of beta amyloid which collect in clumps, called senile plaques in the brain. Most researchers now agree that beta amyloid buildup is most certainly involved in the disruption of thinking and remembering. Excessive buildup of beta amyloid is associated with high levels of cholesterol in the brain.

What can you do? The folks at Biotrex Vitamins have created a new Memory+™ Nutriceutical formula that will improve your mind's ability to sharpen its memory. Memory+™ contains nutritional supplements recognized to increase cognitive memory!

State of the art Biotrex™ Memory+™ contains the finest Gingko Biloba extract and other excellent ingredients that have been recognized to help restore cognitive memory.

Biotrex Memory+ contains these fine ingredients that have been recognized to help restore cognitive memory.

Gingko Biloba is a powerful antioxidant that has been the focus of recent media reports as a potential treatment for Alzheimer's disease. Because of its antioxidant properties, scientists at McGill University in Quebec have demonstrated (in tissue culture) that one form of gingko biloba can prevent the oxidative damage by beta amyloid. Scientists examined how taking 120 mg a day of a ginkgo biloba extract affected the rate of cognitive decline in people with mild to moderately severe dementia due to Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia.

Phosphatidal Choline Serine stimulates acetylcholine output and the synthesis and release of dopamine. Phosphatidal Choline Serine is also thought to reverse memory decline. Human trials have demonstrated memory improvement, improvements in lucidity, in outlook upon life, and in the general ability to cope with the concerns of the day and to function socially.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids are said to help regulate mental health problems because they enhance the ability of brain-cell receptors to comprehend mood-related signals from other neurons in the brain. In other words, the omega-3s are believed to help keep the brain's entire traffic pattern of thoughts, reactions, and reflexes running smoothly and efficiently.

Coenzyme Q10 helps to prevent neuron damage that leads to Alzheimer's disease. The body naturally produces CO Q10 but its level declines with age. Coenzyme Q10 is a powerful antioxidant that protects the body from free radicals and helps preserve vitamin E, the major antioxidant of cell membranes.

Acetyl L-Carnitine has been shown to protect brain cells against aging-related degeneration and improve mood, memory and cognition. The most important effect of acetyl-L-carnitine, however, is to maintain the function of the cell's energy powerhouse, the mitochondria.

Vitamin E is a powerful biological antioxidant. Antioxidants such as vitamin E protect your cells against the effects of free radicals, which are potentially damaging byproducts of the body's metabolism. Free radicals can cause cell damage that may contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease and cancer.

L-Glutamine One of glutamine's roles is as a "nitrogen shuttle," which helps protect the body from high levels of ammonia. Glutamine can act as a buffer, accepting excess ammonia, then releasing it when needed to form other amino acids, amino sugars, nucleotides, and urea. This capacity to accept and donate nitrogen makes glutamine the major vehicle for nitrogen transfer between tissues. In times of metabolic stress, glutamine is released into circulation, where it is transported to the tissue in need.

It may make perfect sense to use Biotrex Memory+ as a memory enhancement. Memory+ is only available online at www. BiotrexVitamins. com

Achievekids Appoints Next Step to Refine Growth Strategy

Achievekids Appoints Next Step to Refine Growth Strategy

Achievekids, a non-profit agency providing integrated health and education services to children with complex emotional and developmental disabilities such as Autism, has selected Next Step to refine their strategic plan to drive the agency's growth in the increasingly competitive market of special needs education.

Redwood City, CA (PRWEB) May 7, 2007

Achievekids, a non-profit agency providing integrated health and education services to children with complex emotional and developmental disabilities such as Autism, has selected Next Step to refine their strategic plan to drive the agency's growth in the increasingly competitive market of special needs education.

Due to an increase in Autism and related disabilities and a heightened awareness of special needs education, Achievekids sought a clearer direction and planning process for expanding its services and receiving greater recognition of its programs. In addition to these objectives, Achievekids also aspired to attract and engage more credential professionals in critical positions. Understanding the depth and complexity of these goals, Achievekids evaluated and ultimately awarded Next Step the project to resolve these challenges through a new planning process and strategic plan.

An integral part of Next Steps' proposed planning process was the engagement of Achievekids' management and board members in the process of defining the organizations' objectives. This ensured each member fully acknowledged, accepted and was readied to realize them. Through employee surveys as well as management and board retreats Next Step's team gathered critical input into the planning process. This information was utilized to gain consensus on the agency's key objectives for the next three years. To ensure accountability and results, Next Step then facilitated staff members' development of specific measurable goals and milestones for each objective as part of the planning process. These will be reviewed and ratified by the board at the upcoming Board Meeting.

"While we have always had a strategic plan, not every staff and board member had been involved enough in the process to have a clear understanding of the goals within it," according to Achievekids Board Chairman Doug Barton. "As a result, development of annual budgets and agency-wide goals were not directly related to the strategic plan and there was limited tracking of the agency's achievement of the previous goals."

Through its collaborative strategic planning process which involved key staff members, Next Step provided the basis for acceptance, ownership and accountability to achieve the organization's goals and objectives. Achievekids acknowledged the significant impact made by Next Step's consultants.

"It has been rewarding for us to have provided Achievekids with a strategic plan for growth that was so successfully realized," said Jennifer Vessels, CEO of Next Step. "We're pleased to have supported the efforts of Achievekids, an agency noted for providing an extremely valuable service to the community by offering children with special needs a choice for their education".

Researcher Says HIV Does Not Cause AIDS

Researcher Says HIV Does Not Cause AIDS

Scientific experts made a serious error when they nearly universally adopted the stance that AIDS is caused by the virus known as HIV.

(PRWEB) September 9, 2001

September 7, 2001

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Researcher Says HIV Does Not Cause AIDS

SCHAUMBURG, ILLINOIS - Scientific experts made a serious error when they nearly universally adopted the stance that AIDS is caused by the virus known as HIV.

"Biomedical Science can be quite an unforgiving thing. Make one incorrect assumption and it can lead you so far down the wrong path that it seems almost impossible to find your way back," says Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Bayati, PhD. "That is exactly the position that we are in today with AIDS research."

"The thought that HIV may not in fact cause AIDS should not be so difficult to grasp, as many of the currently held beliefs of modern medicine are not adequately supported by the scientific evidence," says Dr. Joseph Mercola, Medical Director of the Optimal Wellness Center in Schaumburg, Illinois. "The fact that this topic is so ‘taboo’ that it can’t even be discussed openly, shows the stubborn closed-mindedness of the medical establishment to any ideas that don’t suit them at the moment."

In an article published in the latest edition of Dr. MercolaÂ’s newsletter, Dr. Al-Bayati discusses his ideas about what is really causing the AIDS epidemic, as well as what should be done immediately to help stop it. Dr. Al-BayatiÂ’s entire article, entitled "HIV Does Not Cause AIDS", is posted on his website (www. toxi-health. com).

"AIDS in the industrialized world is caused by the heavy use of corticosteroids and/or cytotoxic drugs used to treat many health problems resulted from the use of illicit drugs by drug addicts and some homosexuals, rather than the innoccuos retrovirus HIV," maintains Dr. Al-Bayati.

"The majority of AIDS patients who participated in the four major AZT clinical trials in the US between 1987-1992 were HIV-negative prior to their treatment with AZT. Briefly, a total of 2,349 patients participated in these studies, and at least 77% of them were HIV-negative prior to treatment," he states.

"In Africa, the disease known as AIDS is caused by severe starvation," he explains.

Heart of England, Heart of Recovery Analysis of Shareholder-Director Hotspots

Heart of England, Heart of Recovery Analysis of Shareholder-Director Hotspots

New KDB Survey of UK Shareholder-Directors reveals the entrepreneurial hotspots that will drive Britain's economic recovery.

London, UK (PRWEB) January 23, 2009

Birmingham will be the entrepreneurial heart of the UK's economic recovery over the next few years, according to a new KDB (http://www. knaulagedb. co. uk (http://www. knaulagedb. co. uk)) analysis of shareholder-directors across the country, which ranks the Midlands capital in the top slot.

However, London and its environs continue to dominate the top ranking postcodes for entrepreneurial vigour, boasting six of the top ten rankings.

The new study, from data analysts KDB, examines the most recent records on 2.5m British companies. It identifies areas of the UK where shareholder-directors are most numerous and concentrated. These business leaders represent the country's entrepreneurial community and will be the most significant contributors to the UK's return to economic health following the recent financial markets crisis.

Other entrepreneurial hotspots outside of the capital and its environs revealed in the KDB study include:-
O Brighton (3rd)
O Bristol (7th)
O Nottingham (8th)
O Leicester (11th)
O Sheffield (12th)
O Warrington (13th)
O Manchester (15th)
O Peterborough (17th)
O Bournemouth (18th)
O Coventry (20th)

The regional aggregated picture is even more revealing, showing that regions away from the capital are most likely to provide the engine room of economic recovery. The four regions registering significantly above the national average score of 100 are, in order:-
O The Midlands
O Anglia
O The North West
O South Central

In Scotland, although below the national average as a whole, there are key entrepreneurial hotspots, including:-
O Glasgow (Index 125)
O Aberdeen (Index 114)
O Edinburgh (101)

Similarly, Welsh hotspots are found in:-
O Cardiff (122)
O Swansea (111)

Matt Boot, Chief Analyst at KDB (http://www. knaulagedb. co. uk (http://www. knaulagedb. co. uk)), comments, "Recovery from the current economic slowdown will require wealth creation and strong leadership from companies large and small. Large firms, which employ ranks of clever economists to factor in cyclical changes such as that we are experiencing now, have no doubt predicted the current tough times, even if they might not have foreseen its severity. However, large companies, with over 500 employees only represent 41% of the country's turnover. The rest is delivered by smaller businesses. In fact, firms with fewer than 100 employees represent 43% of the nation's turnover - two percentage points higher than large companies.

"Therefore, economists looking beyond the current troubled times towards a period of recovery, will be very interested in where the most dynamic, wealth creating firms are likely to be located in the country. On a tactical basis, marketers will also be interested in this picture, in that it helps to identify the most vibrant local economies, and therefore the most fertile markets for sustaining current revenues

"For government, economists, and indeed banks, the findings of this study are significant, when it comes to directing initiatives designed to stimulate health and recovery in the 'real economy' following the recent financial markets crisis. A high concentration of shareholder-directors is also indicative of the health, robustness and resilience of local economies.

"The findings are also of interest to marketers targeting high-net-worth individuals around the country, whether for investment products, property, motor vehicles, high-value retail products, luxury holidays, and many more"

About KDB (http://www. knaulagedb. co. uk (http://www. knaulagedb. co. uk))
KDB is a data and database marketing consultancy whose services include analysis for campaigns, insight into customer patterns and behaviour, database hosting and campaign management. KDB is retained by household name organisations in the retail, financial services, travel and utilities sectors.
