BridgeFront Enhances Online Education with New Customization Tools

BridgeFront Enhances Online Education with New Customization Tools

BridgeFront announces its newest online education customization tool. Now clients can customize any BridgeFront online course including adding new course pages, editing existing course content and deactivating existing course pages.

Portland, OR (PRWEB) October 27, 2009

BridgeFront announces it has expanded its online education customization toolkit. Now, clients can log in and edit any core BridgeFront online course to suit their specific organizational policies and procedures with the Course Editor Tool. The simple interface allows non-technical users to add new or delete existing pages with ease. Users can also add custom links to videos, web sites, word documents and more.

"This tool is now included in our new Customization Center," says Peter N. Cizik, CEO of BridgeFront. "The Customization Center allows you to seamlessly integrate how you operate inside your facility - whether it's your unique policies and procedures, how your specific software applications operate or certain work flows you want to reinforce with staff members. Our tools are ideal for organizations that simply do not have the time or resources to re-invent the wheel."

After a short training session, clients can immediately start to the edit BridgeFront courses. Once the courses are edited, clients can simply assign it to any student and use the tracking features associated with all BridgeFront courses. BridgeFront will also continue to maintain the original content in any custom client course.

"Education is the foundation of our success at INTEGRIS Health," says Brent Grimes, Corporate Director Patient Financial Services of INTEGRIS Health. "INTEGRIS was in need of a tool that provides timely, consistent, interactive training for issues that affect cash flow and allows for career development. BridgeFront delivered."

In the last year, BridgeFront has released five new training administrator tools -
Course Annotator Tool  Course Editor Tool  Course & Test Builder Tool  Competency Management System  Contract Management System

BridgeFront's Course Annotator Tool allows organizations to annotate a course by adding hyperlinks on the bottom of any course page and add test questions via the online education center. The hyperlinks generate pop-up boxes when clicked to show any custom content the organization wants to communicate to staff as they navigate the course.

BridgeFront's Course Editor Tool is an incredible new tool. Clients now have the flexibility and ease to customize BridgeFront course content. The training administrator simply logs in and with a few clicks can add a page, modify an existing page or deactivate a page. Students will not know the difference between new and existing pages.

BridgeFront's Course and Test Builder Tool allows organizations to build a complete custom online course and test in the online education center, and assign to as many students as needed. Organizations can convert existing physical training materials, classroom training and even PowerPoints into an online course and test.

Organizations also have the ability to manage staff competencies using BridgeFront's Competency Management System. In this system, organizations can build and administer online tests to determine skill gaps before hiring and after, and create custom curriculums based upon those competency levels.

The Contract Management System offers organizations the ability to manage their contract online and quickly bulk-assign courses to students.

"The Contract Management System allows organizations to quickly bulk-assign courses to students with a single key stroke; no more waiting involved," says Kent Lane, co-founder and COO of BridgeFront. "In the last year, we have released five new tools that offer our clients the ability to edit our course and test content, build their own courses, manage staff competencies and now easily manage their training contract. No other competitor in online healthcare education has delivered a similar product or service."

NOVEMBER: NATIONAL ADOPTION AWARENESS MONTH; ADULT ADOPTEES STILL DENIED THEIR RIGHTS

NOVEMBER: NATIONAL ADOPTION AWARENESS MONTH; ADULT ADOPTEES STILL DENIED THEIR RIGHTS

November is National Adoption Awareness Month, and Bastard Nation: The Adoptee Rights Organization wishes to express its extreme concern about the continued denial of basic information to adult adoptees in the United States. In 46 states, adult adoptees still cannot obtain their own original birth certificates on par with other citizens. The American adoption system will not be fully honorable until this injustice is corrected.

November is National Adoption Awareness Month, a time set aside by our President and Congress to honor and promote the adoption system in our country. During this month Bastard Nation: The Adoptee Rights Organization would like to raise awareness about a problem that faces six million adopted adults in the United States today.

Currently, adopted adults in 46 states in the United States must still get permission from their parents or from a judge before they can obtain their original birth records. We adult adoptees are angry because our records remain sealed away from us. We are not ashamed of being adopted and we resent being made to feel ashamed by the secret records system.

The best interests of the children of adoption - no matter the age of the "children" - must always come first. Adopted children grow up, and as adults must be able to exercise the rights all others have. As adult tax-paying citizens, we can serve our country, buy property and vote. We are educators, doctors, scientists, business people and police officers. We are parents, and in some cases, grandparents. Adult adoptees aren't asking for "special " rights. We ask only that the state stop treating adult adoptees as perpetual children who need to be protected from ourselves and release our records to us.

Bastard Nation: The Adoptee Rights Organization is the largest and most influential adoptee rights organization in the United States. Our mission is to see adult adoptees in all fifty states be able to request and receive, unconditionally, their original birth certificates and adoption records.

We believe that if adoption is to be considered a normal and healthy family-building institution, those who are adopted should be allowed to access their own records. Anything else sends the message that adopted persons

Are second class citizens, unable to handle their own personal information regarding their own histories, and that adoption is abnormal and shameful. What better time than National Adoption Awareness Month to shed the veil of secrecy that surrounds adoption.

C&S Wholesale Grocers Helps Hungry Vermonters Start the Day With a Good Breakfast; 6,000 Boxes of Cereal are Part of a 13-Truckload Late Winter "Crunch Time" Donation to the Hunger Relief Program, Project Feed the Thousands

C&S Wholesale Grocers is helping in the fight against hunger in one of its home communities by donating 13 truckloads of food to the Brattleboro Area Drop-In Center to the hunger relief program, Project Feed the Thousands. Included in the donation are 6,000 boxes of cereal - the equivalent of 78,000 servings - which food bank organizers say is vital, yet difficult to obtain.

Keene, NH (PRWEB) March 13, 2007

C&S Wholesale Grocers (http://www. cswg. com/pr2.htm) is helping the fight against hunger in one of its local communities by donating 13 truckloads of food to the Brattleboro Area Drop-In Center via Project Feed the Thousands in 2007.

Included in the 13-truckload donation are 6,000 boxes of cereal obtained through the generosity of C&S vendor Malt-O-Meal, of Minneapolis, MN. That's enough to provide 78,000 breakfast servings to area residents in need.

"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially for school-aged children," said Melinda Bussino, Executive Director of the Brattleboro Area Drop-In Center. "This donation provides us with a non-perishable food item that is difficult to obtain because it's expensive. The C&S contribution of 13 truckloads of food means the world to us--but this wonderful donation of cereal means even more to local children and adults who are food insecure."

Gina Goff, Director of Corporate Giving for C&S, explained the reason for the company's late-winter announcement of its donation commitment. "The majority of charitable giving occurs during the holidays, but unfortunately, hunger is an issue that huge numbers of families face all year long," she said. "We're making our announcement in March to call attention to the fact that the real "crunch time" is all the time for families who need food banks to make ends meet. We want people to understand that food pantries and community kitchens all across America need the public's help now more than ever."

The Brattleboro Drop In Center is one of 280 member agencies of the Vermont Food Bank, and is a Member of America's Second Harvest (http://www. secondharvest. org/cs) - The Nation's Food Bank Network. The mission of America's Second Harvest (the largest charitable hunger-relief organization in the U. S.) is to secure and distribute food and grocery products through its network to people in need.

"People think of Vermont as having beautiful villages and farms, and not issues like this," said Goff. "But even little Brattleboro (population 12,000) is like any other community with a hidden problem of food insecurity."

According to Goff, the public can help in their own communities by donating money online via the America's Second Harvest web site at www. secondharvest. org/cs (http://www. secondharvest. org/cs). She also encouraged people to donate non-perishable food directly to local hunger relief organizations. A list of food banks in all 50 states (with links to local programs) can also be found on the America's Second Harvest web site.

Fitness Resolutions Can Derail in January: David Berger Gives Advice for Maintaining Commitment

Most Americans who envisioned a healthier 2008 are already struggling to keep their New Year's resolutions to get in shape. Healthy Weight Week, which begins on January 20, provides some motivation those who are tempted to slack, and fitness guru David Berger offers additional help to get exercisers get through this difficult period.

Wilmington, Delaware (PRWEB) January 19, 2008

It's only mid-January, but most Americans who envisioned a healthier 2008 are already struggling to keep their New Year's resolutions to get into or stay in shape. Luckily, Healthy Weight Week, which begins on January 20, comes just in time to motivate those who are tempted to slack and provides an extra incentive to commit to shedding a few pounds. Fitness guru David Berger offers advice for this critical period.

Berger, a personal performance coach, stresses keeping a positive attitude toward a fitness routine. "Most people simply give up on their resolutions, but the darkest hour often comes just before the dawn," he says. Commitment, he adds, is the first of the four values highlighted in his own Number One Me™ personal coaching fitness DVD. (More information about the four values is available at www. numberoneme. com/valuestraining. pdf (http://www. numberoneme. com/valuestraining. pdf).) "Commitment is key to overcoming obstacles to reaching any goal. To restore your commitment, remind yourself about the reasons you originally resolved to get in shape and how much you're going to enjoy the outcome. Focus on those things when you're trying to get over a hurdle."

It's hard work to maintain this kind of commitment, but consistency can help. "When you make the effort every day to be consistent in your workout plan, you'll find that it becomes not only easier, but something you actually look forward to," Berger says. "In fact, you'll probably want to progress to even higher levels of fitness because you'll feel great!"

Of course, enthusiastic support also makes it easier to reach a goal, and a program like that on Berger's Number One Me DVD, which offers more than 45 body-weight-only progressive exercises at three levels, served with high-energy motivation, easily fits the bill for those who don't have access to personal trainers.

More information about Healthy Weight Week can be found at http://mentalhealth. samhsa. gov/highlights/January2006/weight/ (http://mentalhealth. samhsa. gov/highlights/January2006/weight/).

About David Berger: At the age of 18, weighing over 250 pounds with a 40-inch waist and a pack-a-day smoking habit, David Berger struggled to climb a single flight of stairs. David's journey to better health began when he quit smoking. He also decided that he would immediately begin eating healthier and exercising, climbing a single flight of stairs a day and adding another flight each week. He also started performing calisthenic exercises. Through his commitment to his consistent and progressive approach, he lost over 88 pounds and 6 inches from his waist within one year! David went on to earn a degree in Kinesiology from West Chester University and launch Progressive Fitness Coaching and now the Number One Me! personal coaching DVD.

Top Ten Things Children With AIDS Want You To Know

Top Ten Things Children With AIDS Want You To Know

Thousands of children in the U. S. are affected by HIV/AIDS, and because of a lack of information and awareness, face unjustifiable pain and suffering. In preparation for World AIDS Day on Dec. 1, Camp Heartland asked AIDS-impacted youth to share "what they want the world to know" about HIV/AIDS. They offer these top 10 reminders of hope, prevention and compassion.

Milwaukee, WI (PRWEB) November 17, 2005

As HIV/AIDS is often still cloaked in secrecy, it is hard to imagine what life is like for a child affected by the disease, and yet there are thousands of them throughout the United States and over 2.5 million worldwide. Lack of information and awareness makes many people treat these children as bad, dangerous, and someone to be avoided. This, in turn leads to terrible discrimination, loneliness, and unjustifiable pain and suffering.

Since 1993, the national non-profit organization Camp Heartland has made a profound year-round and life long difference for more than 2,000 children living with HIV/AIDS in the United States. In preparation for World AIDS Day on December 1, 2005 Camp Heartland leadership asked some of these children to share “what they want the world to know.” Camp Heartland’s children offer these “Top Ten” reminders of hope, prevention and compassion:

1.  “You can’t just catch HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), like if it was a cold or the flu…it’s something you get from mixing your blood with someone else’s, having unprotected sex, or from your mom when you were born, like me. ” – Deah, age 10

2.  “AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is what you have when there is too much HIV in your body and your immune system can’t keep up and you get sick and it’s really hard to get better.” - Dillon, age 15

3.  Be a friend. You cannot contract HIV through casual contact. “You can’t get it from hugging, kissing, showing some love, or touching somebody. Don’t be afraid, be a friend. ”- Latoya, age 12

4. Do not give up if you have AIDS. “I may have AIDS, but I am determined to live my life without worrying about dying.” - Matthew, age 11

5. Get tested. Know your status. “If you don’t know if you have HIV, you can’t help stop this disease or keep yourself healthy.” - Lupe, age 21

6. Stay healthy. There is no cure for AIDS. Treatments for HIV and AIDS are expensive, time consuming and can have unpleasant side effects. “You don’t want to get this disease - it’s no fun. I hate having to take 18 to 20 pills a day and having to get needles stuck in me every three weeks.” - Augie, age 12

7. Show compassion. “Don’t try to be all icky about other people and try to make them feel bad. People with AIDS, they’re regular people. They have feelings, too.” - Brandon, age 13

8. Think globally. “Sometimes I really hate taking meds, but there are people all over the world that don’t have them…so I take mine. We need to help people everywhere because we’re all the same.” - Kaitlyn, age 11

9. Communicate the truth. “We have to talk to our brothers, our sisters, our cousins, our parents, our friends, our churches, our schools…and our boyfriends or girlfriends. We can’t be afraid or embarrassed to talk about staying healthy and staying alive.” - Shakia, age 23

10. “Think positive, stay negative.” - Stephanie, age 9

These and other messages can be found in Camp Heartland’s new book. A Journey of Hope - Inspiring Stories of Courage and Unconditional Love featuring the writings, poems, stories and speeches of Camp Heartland’s children. More than 100 color and 12 black and white photographs of these children by Katja Heinemann dramatically enhance the impact of their words. One hundred percent of the book’s proceeds directly support Camp Heartland’s programs and services for children with HIV/AIDS. The book is available for $22.95 at www. campheartland. org, www. amazon. com, and at bookstores nationwide.

India’s Demand for Water Creates One of the Largest and Most Attractive Water Markets in the World

India’s Demand for Water Creates One of the Largest and Most Attractive Water Markets in the World

IndiaStockMarket. com Features a Profile on India’s Water Issues in "Water – India needs massive investments” by Dr. Uday Lal Pai

POINT ROBERTS, WA, Delta BC (PRWEB) August 12, 2006

www. IndiaStockMarket. com (ISM), a global investor website for investing in India, presents an exclusive look at India’s water industry in this week’s "Investing In India" with Dr. Uday Lal Pai, a well known financial writer based in India. The focus of this week’s column takes a close look at the depleting water resources and the break down of water infrastructure that is restricting the region’s ability to provide usable and drinkable water to its residents. In addition, perspective from water technology company Hendrx Corp evaluates current challenges and technological solutions to India’s water crisis.

Dr. Uday Lal Pai explains, “India has 16 percent of the world's population, 2.5 percent of the land mass and 4 percent of the world's water resources. These limited water resources are depleting rapidly while the demands on them are increasing. Drinking water supplies in many parts of India are intermittent. Transmission and distribution networks for water are generally old and badly maintained, and as a result, are deteriorating. Estimates reveal that by 2020, India's demand for water will exceed all sources of supply. In just 50 years a water-rich nation has been reduced to a water-insecure one. There is clearly an urgent need for action.”

India is heavily dependent on ground water resources, which has led to extraction levels creating water shortages. These resources have also reached unhealthy contamination levels as a result of the pollution associated with the region’s economic development and dependence on fossil fuels. As result, there is an increasing demand for water technology that can help improve the supply, distribution and quality of India’s water.

Conventional technology to clean up water with filters and/ or membranes, are solutions that are difficult to apply in developing countries due to the variability in feed water quality and the potential for failure due to maintenance issues.

According to Mark Lambert, a water expert and independent consultant to Hendrx Corp ”Water production may vary significantly, depending on many unknown factors that may change very rapidly. Maintenance of filtration systems also varies greatly, depending on the water that is being cleaned. Atmospheric Water Generation (AWG) changes all that. In countries such as India where the temperature and the humidity are ideal just about anywhere, AWG’s make a lot of sense. There is no need to deal with the challenge of assessing the polluted water in order to provide the right filtration. AWG’s create water out of thin air; the only thing that needs to be addressed is to maintain the purity of the created water. AWG’s have a lot of potential, especially in India, and may in time cure the water crisis completely.”

Overall, India’s water needs have established considerable market opportunities for water industry participants in a position to offer viable solutions. As Dr. Uday describes, “India is one of the biggest and most attractive water markets in the world.”

Dealing with stress is an inescapable part of modern life. According to Patt Lind-Kyle, the key to thriving (instead of just surviving) amidst tension and worry is learning how to consciously manage your mind instead of allowing it to manage you.

Fulton, CA (PRWEB) December 18, 2009

Stress and worry consume many people every day—stress about the economy, rumored layoffs, or how they’ll ever find the time to do their holiday shopping. And when one tries their best to “de-stress” his or her life, it seems for every stressor that is eliminated, more pop up. Rather than trying to outrun the stress hurricane, it is best to find a way to dwell calmly inside its eye.

“Eliminating stress sounds good in theory, but it just doesn’t work,” says Lind-Kyle, author of Heal Your Mind, Rewire Your Brain: Applying the Exciting New Science of Brain Synchrony for Creativity, Peace and Presence (Energy Psychology Press, 2009, ISBN: 978-1-60415-056-8, $26.95). “What you can do is change how you respond to the stressors that pop up.”

“The brain is capable of changing and growing at any age—a quality called neuroplasticity,” she explains. “Quite literally, you will alter the brain’s neuronal connections and circuitry that are responsible for your emotions, behaviors, and perceptions—and these are as much to blame for your stress as your schedule, work, and money.”

Read on about how mind training can work to help to manage and reduce stress:
Understand that a lot of stress comes from buying into cultural expectations, There is so much pressure to do more, faster, better. However, few people naturally meet every cultural standard of beauty, intelligence, achievement, and desirability—so they're saddled with unmet expectations and compulsive drives that sink their peace of mind and morale.

Stress exacts a very real price. Stress affects one's body, mind and quality of life. High levels of stress can impact energy levels, weaken the immune system, raise blood pressure, and interfere with tissue repair and growth. It can also contribute to depression.

Nobody likes Suzie or Sammy Stressor! People who are full of stress and anxiety tend to raise anxiety levels of others. We tend to gravitate toward those who are calming influences, not stress inducers, so those stressful people are often avoided.

Prisoners of the mind. Due to a mix of genetic factors and external conditioning, we are locked into a set of habitual and automatic attitudes, thoughts, and behaviors that are often harmful. And trigger A will almost always lead to result B, unless you take specific steps to redefine what B is.

Mind training? What’s that? This isn’t about brainwashing—it’s about learning to consciously redirect dysfunctional brain patterns. Brainwaves should all work together in harmony, but one often dominates the others, leading to dysfunctional thoughts and habits and “negative feedback loops” of behavior. Mind training helps with focusing on and becoming aware of each brainwave, thus triggering the neuroplastic function of the brain.

Let stress “flow” away. Many people spend more time rehashing the past and worrying about the future than they do dealing with the here and now. Silence this inner voice through mind training to open up to a state called “flow”—which is the antithesis of stress.

Get Home (Base) free! Mind training practice moves the focus from looking outside oneself for answers and fulfillment. We are all wired for what we really want: peace and happiness. It’s those culturally acquired desires for “more” that create disappointment, stress, and unhappiness! By paying attention to their resources, one will notice a marked difference in their ability to become calm, cool, and collected.

“You’ll still have deadlines to meet, bills to pay, and children to chauffeur—but with the help of mind training, these things will no longer send you into a self-perpetuating tailspin of frenetic thoughts and worries,” Lind-Kyle says. “You will be able to meet them head-on with a stable, focused, and calm mind. And that will make all the difference.”

Swanson Vitamins Develops Line of Glandular Products

Swanson Vitamins Develops Line of Glandular Products

Due to customer demand, Swanson Vitamins developed a line of glandular supplements including Raw Adrenal, Raw Heart, Raw Kidney, Raw Liver, Raw Pancreas and Raw Thymus.

Fargo, ND (PRWEB) June 3, 2009

Due to an increase in popularity and a decrease in availability, Swanson Vitamins developed their own line of Glandular supplements. A tenet of glandular supplementation is that like supports like--consuming heart tissue supports heart health.

The history of glandular tissue consumption dates back to the 16th century. Mystics and medicine men conferred special powers upon glands and organs, using them in traditional medicines and tribal ceremonies. Warriors relied upon glands and organs they believed would provide special strength and power. In times when every part of the animal was used, the glands were considered to be of special value, even average individuals consumed glands and organ meats in traditional recipes.

Continued support for glandular supplementation is validated from a 2001 paper published in the well-known Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients, recognizing the high percentage of naturopaths, chiropractors and alternative physicians who continue to agree that glandular supplements are useful and deserving of their place in our healthcare practices. When quality and safety are ensured, glandulars are valid alternatives with broad professional support.

The 6 Swanson Premium Glandular supplements (http://www. swansonvitamins. com/Search? doSearch=true&keyword=swanson+glandular&SourceCode=INTN040) are made only from raw, cold-pressed bovine (cow) glandular tissue collected at USDA-inspected facilities. This high-quality tissue is desiccated (dried), defatted and powdered at cGMP laboratories in Nebraska. Lee Swanson, President of Swanson Vitamins says, "I personally guarantee that Swanson glandular supplements are the highest quality available. I wouldn't settle for anything less and I wouldn't ask our valued customers to accept anything but the best."

The 6 Swanson Premium Glandulars include: Raw Adrenal Glandular, Raw Heart Glandular, Raw Kidney Glandular, Raw Liver Glandular, Raw Pancreas Glandular and Raw Thymus Glandular. They come in 60 capsule sizes and range in price from $3.99-$4.99.

Chernobyl: 20 Years Later GreenFacts Summarises Chernobyl’s Legacy Report

Chernobyl: 20 Years Later GreenFacts Summarises Chernobyl’s Legacy Report

The most serious accident in nuclear history changed the lives of many. Massive amounts of radioactive materials were released into the environment resulting in a radioactive cloud that spread over much of Europe. The greatest contamination occured around the reactor in areas that are now part of Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. How has this region been affected by the accident and how has it coped?

Brussels (PRWEB) April 21, 2006

Chernobyl, the most significant accident in nuclear history, took place on 26 April 1986. Even 20 years later, the accident has left the world with many unanswered questions about its impact on human health, the environment, and the socio-economic sector.

To provide some answers, GreenFacts has released a Three-Level Summary of Chernobyl’s Legacy, a report published in March 2006 by the Chernobyl Forum. This forum included hundreds of experts from, e. g., the International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA), the World Health Organisation (WHO), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The GreenFacts summary is freely available on www. greenfacts. org/chernobyl (http://www. greenfacts. org/chernobyl )

"I was pleased to assist you in this work,” said Dr. Burton Bennett, chairman of the Chernobyl Forum and reviewer of the GreenFacts summary of Chernobyl’s Legacy. “I wish to compliment you in your good efforts to clarify issues about the environment."

Highlights of the report

At the time of the accident, large parts of Europe were contaminated by radioactive materials. The greatest contamination occurred around the reactor in areas that are now part of Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. Focusing on that region, Chernobyl’s Legacy compiled the latest research on the accident’s impact on humans, plants, animals, as well as the economy.

By 2005, according to the report, about 50 people – most of them emergency workers – are known to have died of either Acute Radiation Syndrome (ARS) or cancer as a direct consequence of the accident. A considerable increase in thyroid cancer has been observed especially among local children, though the survival rate has been high. In the long term, is the report estimates that the accident might lead to about 4000 cancer deaths among the 600 000 most exposed people. However, estimations are difficult because those who have been exposed to radiation often die from the same causes as unexposed people.

The report indicates that many people were traumatised by the accident and the rapid relocation that followed; they remain anxious about their health, perceiving themselves as helpless victims rather than survivors. Current government aid programs that pay benefits to millions of people are a great burden on national budgets and the Chernobyl Forum recommends that financial support be refocused on those who need it most. Others may need help to normalise their lives, or better access to social services, employment, and credible information about the effects of the accident. Stimulating a growing confidence among the region’s population would be an essential step towards redeveloping the local economy and fighting increasing poverty in the area.

About GreenFacts

GreenFacts asbl/vzw is an independent non-profit organisation based in Brussels that publishes faithful on-line summaries of authoritative scientific documents on environment and health matters in several languages. These summaries are presented as questions and answers in three levels of detail, making the scientific consensus easily accessible to non-specialists.

GreenFacts was created in 2001 by individuals from scientific institutions, environment and health organisations, and businesses, who called for wider access to unbiased information on environment and health topics.

Hull Schools Score with Healthy npower Initiative

Hull Schools Score with Healthy npower Initiative

School children in the East Riding are pulling on their football boots in preparation for a healthier New Year.

(PRWEB) January 31, 2009

School children in the East Riding are pulling on their football boots in preparation for a healthier New Year.

Over 70 children attended football training sessions over Christmas from Hull City AFC's ongoing initiative 'Football in the Community', along with its principal partner npower (http://education. npower. com/ (http://education. npower. com/))

The regional sports development programme runs holiday soccer schools, helping children to understand how important a healthy diet and an active lifestyle is during the winter months.

Children between 5 and 12 years old attended a three day training course at the KC Stadium, developing basic ball skills and playing in 4 to 7 a-side games.

The scheme works with schools in the area, where pupils are invited to the stadium to 'learn with the tigers' about energy and teamwork.

The young players were also treated to a special visit from Hull City's well loved mascot, Roary the Tiger.

Joan Coe, head of brand communications at npower, said: "Our work with Football in the Community is part of our nationwide commitment to encouraging young people to be more active. In association with Hull AFC we have produced new energy worksheets (http://www. npower. com/web/about_npower/in_the_community/education/index. htm (http://www. npower. com/web/about_npower/in_the_community/education/index. htm)) for school groups, helping Football in the Community teach young people how they can keep their minds and bodies healthy during the winter."

John Davies, manager of Football in the Community, said: "We're glad to be out and about with Roary, visiting schools and inspiring young minds with the knowledge that football is a great way of keeping fit, working as a team and having fun."

Roary sported his new t-shirt designed by seven year old Eloise Hamilton, the winning entrant in a competition launched at npower's community match this year.

In addition to sponsoring Hull City AFC's Football in the Community programme, npower also supplies energy to Wembley Stadium and the Liberty Stadium in Swansea, sponsors the Test Match Series in England, Women's Test Series, the Twenty20 Cup and Village Cup, is an official sponsor of the Worcester Warriors, runs an Urban Cricket programme in conjunction with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), and runs an Active Programme in partnership with the English Federation of Disability Sport.

The npower Active programme (http://www. npower. com/web/about_npower/in_the_community/healthy_communities/npower_active (http://www. npower. com/web/about_npower/in_the_community/healthy_communities/npower_active)), which is run in partnership with the English Federation of Disability Sport, has been awarded a prestigious 'Silver Big Tick' by Business in the Community.

Research and Markets - Total animal Healthcare Market Estimated at $23 billion

Research and Markets - Total animal Healthcare Market Estimated at $23 billion

Research and Markets (http://www. researchandmarkets. com) has announced the addition of Animal Biotechnology - Technologies, Markets and Companies to their offering

(PRWEB) October 8, 2004

This report describes and evaluates animal biotechnology and its application in veterinary medicine and pharmaceuticals as well as improvement in food production. Knowledge of animal genetics is important in the application of biotechnology to manage genetic disorders and improve animal breeding. Genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics are also being applied to animal biotechnology.

Transgenic technologies are used for improving milk production and the meat in farm animals as well as for creating models of human diseases. Transgenic animals are used for the production of proteins for human medical use. Biotechnology is applied to facilitate xenotransplantation from animals to humans. Genetic engineering is done in farm animals and nuclear transfer technology has become an important and preferred method for cloning animals.

Biotechnology has potential applications in the management of several animal diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease, classical swine fever and bovine spongiform encephalopathy. The most important biotechnology-based products consist of vaccines, particularly genetically engineered or DNA vaccines. Gene therapy for diseases of pet animals is a fast developing area because many of the technologies used in clinical trials humans were developed in animals and many of the diseases of cats and dogs are similar to those in humans.

Molecular diagnosis is assuming an important place in veterinary practice. Polymerase chain reaction and its modifications are considered to be important. Fluorescent in situ hybridization and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays are also widely used. Newer biochip-based technologies and biosensors are also finding their way in veterinary diagnostics.

Biotechnology products are approved by the Center for Veterinary Medicine of the FDA. Regulatory issues relevant to animal biotechnology are described.

Approximately 72 companies have been identified to be involved in animal biotechnology and are profiled in the report. These are a mix of animal healthcare companies and biotechnology companies. Information is given about the research activities of 9 veterinary institutes. Important collaborations in this area are shown.

Share of biotechnology-based products and services is currently estimated to be $2.8 billion out of the total animal healthcare market of $18 billion. This is expected to grow to $5.1 billion by the year 2005 in a total animal healthcare market of $23 billion.

$250,000 Cash Bail for Faxing Warrants AZ's 'Supervening Indictment'; The Accused Alleges False Arrest and Notices Officials of Intent to Prove His Innocence

$250,000 Cash Bail for Faxing Warrants AZ's 'Supervening Indictment'; The Accused Alleges False Arrest and Notices Officials of Intent to Prove His Innocence

Under Arizona criminal procedure, it is firmly ordered that the prosecuting attorney has a duty to make continuing disclosures to the accused regarding the case. Rev. Stone says that no disclosures have been made to him concerning the harassment charges. Court ordered disclosure under Arizona state rules of criminal procedure 15 thru 15.7 forces the prosecution to work with Stone; however, Stone, representing himself, says that his rights are being denied. Meanwhile, he will comply with the rules by disclosing his list of witnesses that include Gov. Napolitano, AZ legislators, President Bush, Harding and many others, and he will present a list of documents to support that he is innocent and that his imprisonment is an act of official retaliation.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) April 1, 2006

On Friday, March 24, 2006, civil, human, and children’s right advocate Rev. John W. Stone was granted a “Not Guilty Arraignment”.

The "Not Guilty Arraignment" was held after the preliminary hearing was vacated, and before the actual supervening indictment was given to him. Stone says that this act was one of several acts to purposely deny his due process rights.

Stone is being held at the 4th Avenue Jail in Phoenix since March 8, 2006 on a $250,000.00 cash only bail for one count of aggravated harassment.

The charge was made by Kent Harding, former landlord and owner of Lighthouse Mortgage Company in Phoenix, and principal defendant in the Stones’ lawsuit filed March 2, 2006, now pending in the Superior Court in Phoenix. Harding, is accused of the theft of the Stones’ property.

The Stone’s property, including incriminating evidence against Harding and others, was alleged to have been stolen on September 8, 2005 with the Stones' other property. This event occurred after Stone and wife filed a chapter 11 bankruptcy and a civil rights and bankruptcy racketeering lawsuit in the Federal District Court in Phoenix.

According to Stone, many officials were immediately notified repeatedly concerning the theft, including the bankruptcy court, the federal district court; but, the Stones were ignored.

An official police report was filed on November 20, 2005, with the Peoria Police, which list the Stones as crime victims and is still pending. Stone’s wife is preparing supplemental charges to that report concerning Stone’s false arrest for harassment that directly stems from the theft of their property on September 8, 2005.

On September 13, 2005, Harding obtained an injunction from one of the judges named as a defendant in the Stones’ federal case after several phone calls from the Stones to recover their property in Harding’s possession. Stone was unaware of the injunction against him until he was served the order the later part of January 2006.

The Stones believe that because they were acting in the interest of the public as good Samaritans, they are being condemned and punished because of lawfully pursuing corrupt officials. They allege that the criminal acts, including the injunction, is part of a conspiracy to oppress and corruptly interfere with their bankruptcy, their businesses and lawsuits, which they say had an effect that accomplished exactly that.

Case laws penalize the prosecution for acts of theft and failing to preserve evidence. Those cases prove that the theft of the evidence prevents the Stones’ due process in all present and future litigation.

Stone says that he is preparing to use expert testimony to prove damages to himself, his family, their businesses, creditors, their lawsuits, and the harm to a minor with a health condition and scholastics.

Stone says that he will be revealing a long list of witnesses, court orders, and other documents. Witness list will include Governor Napolitano, Arizona legislators, and other officials including President Bush. Certain individuals, as well as third party victims will also be called to testify.

The Stones allege that the false arrest and unlawful imprisonment has aided Harding and accomplices, and has produced more crimes against them and has caused historic revelations and exposures.

Stone, a civil rights advocate as well as a firm advocate against murderers, says that he is incarcerated with accused murders and other hardened criminals, placing him in a compromising position. He has discovered in paper work of other prisoners, evidence of misconduct and collusion by the prosecution and public defenders that could free murderers and others.

Stone says that it is not that the prisoners are innocence. It’s just that the technicalities and misconduct, if pursued, could free many prisoners including those who should not go free.

Meanwhile, Stone claims that he has been denied his constitutional protected rights and should be released; that everyday that he isn’t, compounds the violations.

Rule 15.6 under Arizona criminal procedure states that "disclosure" is firmly ordered that the prosecution has a duty to make continuing disclosures. Stone says that no disclosures have been made to him concerning the evidence against him, so far. More on story at: www. theexposure. com

Sankofa International, Inc. (Sankofa) Announced Plans to Develop a Transportation System to Support Rural Villages in Ghana

Sankofa International, Inc. (Sankofa) Announced Plans to Develop a Transportation System to Support Rural Villages in Ghana

Committed to making a positive difference in the lives of Africans living in Africa, Sankofa plans to develop a transportation system to support 11 rural villages in Ghana.

(PRWEB) May 10, 2005

Sankofa has developed plans to implement a transportation system to help ease the suffering of approximately 10,000 people, which is the total population of the 11 villages. Initially, 2 passenger vans and a cargo van will be used to support the transportation system, scheduled to begin in late 2006. However, the need is so great that, in October 2005, Sankofa will return to Ghana to discuss plans for expansion.

Currently, on a daily basis, village residents walk up to 5 miles, one way, to get to a main road to wait on unreliable transportation. Even worse, they often have to carry heavy loads while walking. Many suffer neck, back, and spinal cord problems, at a very young age, due to carrying heavy loads on their head for long distances.

To eliminate having to walk long distances, Sankofa will offer scheduled runs to all villages during rush hour. Outside of rush hour, residents can call to arrange for services. To eliminate having to carry heavy loads, residents can call to schedule the cargo van for “door to door” pickup and/or delivery services. It is noteworthy to mention that Sankofa will be implementing a radio communications system in conjunction with the transportation program so emergencies (e. g. medical) can be handled in a more expedited manner. Right now, if there was to be a medical emergency, someone would have to run to the main road, get a taxi to come to the village, and take the individual to the nearest medical facility. Once the transportation program has been implemented, the resident would be able to call Sankofa’s central communications and a van would be dispatched ASAP. The residents are elated over the plans to make these services available and thank God for bringing Sankofa into their lives.

SankofaÂ’s mission is to enhance the quality of life of needy Africans living in rural African villages, especially children. This is a holistic approach that includes, but is not limited to, health care, basic education, housing, transportation, finance, etc. With continued oversight, Sankofa provides a consistent and organized foundation, along with the technical guidance and assistance needed so that problem areas can be addressed effectively at the grass roots level. Short to mid-term, the expected outcome is continued growth and development to help ease the everyday suffering of the people. Long-term, the expected outcome is the creation of communities and people who are self-sustaining.

Sankofa is currently operating in the Ashanti Region of Ghana and has been doing so since 1994. To date, Sankofa has taken electricity into villages, restored the foundation to village schools, added new wings to schools, completed medical exams for over 300 students and teachers, provided prescription medication to 150 students, awarded Secondary School Scholarships to 6 students (1 student graduated in 2005), conducted HIV-AIDS education, and more. SankofaÂ’s founder, Mr. Richard C. Willis, envisions an Africa where rural villages are self sustaining and have all the comforts offered in most communities in the United States.

Since its founding in 1994, Sankofa has not received any corporate/government sponsorship. Therefore, to establish and maintain programs, Sankofa founders along with a handful of supporters have covered the overwhelming majority of related expenses. The remainder has been covered by individual donations.

Sankofa has received recognition both nationally and internationally for its programs. For example, Fox T. V. news covered SankofaÂ’s annual fundraiser and aired portions of the program over the air. CNN and Comcast aired a story on Sankofa. Also, the Prince GeorgeÂ’s Journal in Maryland printed a front page article on SankofaÂ’s efforts. In Ghana, the Ghana News printed an article covering medical exams and scholarships. Additionally, Sankofa officials have been interviewed on several Ghana FM radio stations. Finally, in recognition of SankofaÂ’s efforts, Sankofa officials were invited to the Palace of Otumfou Osei Tutu II, the Supreme Ashanti Leader.

Sankofa is a 501©(3) public charity and is continually looking for both public and private financial support to continue this worth-while mission.
