ForeverGreen Launches New Category Creator

ForeverGreen Launches New Category Creator

FrequenSea is the only product in the world with 200 species of Marine Phytoplankton. This new and incredible product will change the face of nutrition as we know it. FrequenSea has just been launched. Be some of the very first to give it a try.

Bothell, WA (PRWEB) October 7, 2005

Scientists at NASA theorize that some 3 1/2 billion years ago, the world was changed forever. The appearance of tiny organisms with the ability to convert sunlight, warmth, water and minerals into protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and amino acids marked the beginning of life. Phytoplankton, the single-cell plants are the basis of all other life forms on planet earth, they are the 'vegetation' of the ocean. Marine Phytoplankton are responsible for making up to 90% of Earth's oxygen. Marine phytoplankton are the food utilized by some of the world's largest and longest living animals and fish. Blue Whales, humpbacks, baleen whales and more all eat plankton and live between 80-150 years while maintaining great strength and endurance and are sexually active until they die.

Tom Harper, a sea farmer in northern British Columbia, created a 30 million dollar facility on the edge of the northern Pacific Ocean to grow marine phytoplankton year round to feed his shellfish. His process recreates the "Spring Bloom" of marine phytoplankton 365 days a year. The sea farm gives back in a very unique way. First, it provides a resource for the researchers onsite and second, it puts a daily supply of marine phytoplankton back in the ocean.

"The reef beneath their farm is rebuilding due to the extra Marine Phytoplankton…Sea Otters and Bald Eagles have moved back into the area due to the abundance of new fish and sea life that have returned." Says Tiffany Haarsma, also of the sea farm. "Not to mention the extra oxygen created by the plankton every day in the 8 - 1 million liter growing tanks." When he developed a serious health challenge whereby doctors gave him only months to live, Tom Harper decided to start eating his phytoplankton. He thought "if it is good for my fish, why not me?" Harper attributes his recovery to eating phytoplankton. Phytoplankton provides nutrition for human cells.

Dr. Jerry Tennant, M. D., from Tennant Institute of Integrative Medicine, says "There are few products that provide all, or even most Sea Farm Finds Sustainable Balance in Marine Phytoplankton essential amino acids, more Omega 3's than fish oil, Vitamin A, Selenium, Iodine and others. It may be no coincidence that the composition of human plasma is similar to sea water. With our over-reliance on land based food sources, we have developed deficiencies in micronutrients and trace elements.

Jacque Cousteau stated "The future of nutrition is found in the ocean." Part of the proceeds from the sale of a supplement rich in phytoplankton nutrients, FrequenSea with Phytoplankton, support further marine research projects that have a focus on preserving the oceans resources. For more information see the web site http://www. planktonhealth. com (http://www. planktonhealth. com) for the documentary short called "Another Day" that tells the story of Tom Harper, the sea farmer who discovered how to make phytoplankton available for human consumption or call Aaron McCaughan 425-486-5327.

Earth's Original Food Source

Dr. Jerry Tennant, MD, also explains how elements and electrolytes in marine phytoplankton are almost tailor-made for the human body. Our internal bodies reflect that we came from the sea. Our bodies need the elements present in marine phytoplankton to perform as nature intended. The human body has a marvelous system called homeostasis, which keeps all systems in balance. When the body is in balance it will heal itself. Tiffany Haarsma also agrees and stresses that there is a great responsibility in taking marine phytoplankton to the market. People must understand that this is simply a very super rich nutrient whole food source for human body.

Attractive Prospects for Asia Pacific Aesthetics Market: Botox to Challenge Chinese Toxins

Attractive Prospects for Asia Pacific Aesthetics Market: Botox to Challenge Chinese Toxins

According to a new report by Millennium Research Group, this market was valued at over $90 million in 2005 and will continue to grow at a substantial rate over the next 5 years.

(PRWEB) April 10, 2006

Asia Pacific, comprised of China, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand, is experiencing a rise in patient demand for beauty and anti-aging treatments, such as botulinum toxins (BTX) and dermal fillers (particle and polymer fillers, hyaluronic acid, and collagen). According to a new report by Millennium Research Group (MRG), this market was valued at over $90 million in 2005 and will continue to grow at a substantial rate over the next 5 years. While China has the largest growth potential due to expanding disposable incomes, South Korea and Japan will also remain strong markets for facial aesthetic injectables due to their continued economic strength and high consumer spending.

The Asia Pacific market for BTX is expected to experience major change in 2006 when Botox, one of the leading cosmetic injectables in the world, is officially debuted in China. The Asia Pacific region already has multiple BTX competitors, including Lanzhou and Ipsen, which are expected to be joined by the South Korean company, Medytox, also by the end of 2006. The multiplicity of BTX competitors will maintain low regional ASPs and ensure continued revenue growth in this market over the forecast period. Aside from the strong cultural emphasis on beauty, procedures will be driven by the rising demand for unique treatments such as facial contouring. These procedures require larger volumes of toxin to achieve cosmetic results, thereby increasing unit sales.

MRG’s Asia Pacific Markets for Facial Aesthetics 2006 report is part of the Global Markets for Facial Aesthetics series, which includes analysis on US, Europe, and Latin America. The series covers various key industry competitors, such as Allergan (AGN), Contura, Inamed (IMDC), Mentor (MNT), Procytech, Q-Med, and Rofil.

Simon Ourian: Cellulite Cure is Likely

Simon Ourian: Cellulite Cure is Likely

Doctor Simon Ourian describes the new treatments to fight cellulite.

Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) October 18, 2006

You spend hours at the gym and eat all the right foods and still can't get rid of those pockets of fat hugging your hips or flapping around your thighs.

“Cellulite is one of the top skin concerns facing women today. In fact, 8 out of 10 women suffer from cellulite, and approximately 90 percent of all cellulite cases occur among women,” reports Dr. Simon Ourian. Contrary to popular belief, cellulite can occur among women of all shapes and sizes. “The formation of cellulite is not related to being overweight, it is related to genetics,” adds Ourian.

Epione's Lipotherapy treatment is a noninvasive alternative to liposuction, and injections for cellulite reduction and elimination. The treatment involves the application of a ultrasound waves that target the cells under the skin which causes the fat to even out and melt away almost instantaneously, unlike liposuction. Lipotherapy promises the reduction and even elimination of cellulite for good. “The treatment takes less than 30 minutes and the results are incredible,” says Dr. Ourian. Lipotherapy causes increased blood and lymphatic flow, decreased fibrosis of the connective tissue, and a reduction of the fat deposits. Doctor Ourian admits he was very skeptical at first until he saw the results. And he saw many happy patients.

"I just wanted to be the way I was before I had my daughter," said Michelle, a 34-year-old actress, who is otherwise healthy and exercises. "I'd been trying for two years to get rid of it (fat) and couldn't get it off. And after five treatments it's gone. It's amazing. It just feels so good," adds Michelle.

Cellulite is a skin condition seen usually in the hips, thighs, and buttocks. Forget everything that you've heard about cellulite. “Even if you have been exercising regularly all your life and have a great body to show for it, you may still have Cellulite,” says Dr. Ourian. Lipotherapy is a non-invasive alternative to liposuction allowing recovery time to be eliminated altogether.

Dr. Ourian’s Epione Medical Center, located in Beverly Hills’ “Golden Triangle,” is among the world’s most comprehensive and state-of-the-art laser and aesthetic provides the most innovative technology available surgery centers. Epione skin, hair and body contouring. Dr. Ourian has been a pioneer for laser technology and non-invasive aesthetic procedures such as Botox, Restylane, Radiance, Lipotherapy, and Sculptra. These treatments are used for correction or reversal of variety of conditions such as acne, acne scars, skin discoloration, wrinkles, stretch marks, varicose veins, unwanted hair, and tattoos, cellulite, and tens of others. Aguasal Floatation Center Announces Contest to Find the Most Stressed Person in Chicago

Aguasal Floatation Center Announces Contest to Find the Most Stressed Person in Chicago

CHICAGO (PRWEB) July 16, 2005

Are you stressed, under duress or depressed? If so, Aguasal Floatation Center wants you. Aguasal Floatation Center claims that they provide the most effective relaxation tool on the market, and wants ChicagoÂ’s most stressed person to put them to the test.

“Float tanks are pretty cutting edge, so most people aren’t familiar with them yet,” said Frank Rodriguez, Co-Founder of Aguasal Floatation Center. “To put it simply, it’s a shallow pool that measures 8 feet long by 5 feet wide. It’s filled with ten inches of a very dense Epsom saltwater solution that causes anyone to float like a cork, even if they’re unable to float in a swimming pool. This simulates a zero gravity environment and allows for deep relaxation, as well as long-lasting pain relief, thanks to the Epsom salt and the giant burst of endorphins your brain releases in response to this relaxing environment. Some people put Epsom salt in their bathtub to relieve aches and pains, but we’ve taken it to a whole new level by dissolving a ½ ton of Epsom salt into 200 gallons of skin-temperature water. The results are fast and often dramatic. I used floating to quickly bring six years of debilitating back pain to a complete stop.”

“Living in Chicago is stressful” Rodriguez said. “There’s traffic, crime, noise, pollution, long hours. It’s a great city, but there aren’t too many places to genuinely relax. Going to the bar or watching TV will often wind people up even more with nervous energy. It’s not true relaxation, so we’re looking for the most stressed person in Chicago to show them what true relaxation REALLY is.”

Aguasal Floatation Center will be accepting personal essays of 100 words or less on why a person believes they are the most stressed person in Chicago. The owners of Aguasal Flotation Center will judge the entries and the winner will be announced on September 2nd. Normally, a month pass costs $240.

“If you work on the mercantile exchange, are one of Chicago’s Finest, work in the emergency room or have one of the hundreds of thousands of severely stressful jobs in Chicago, we want to hear from you” said Rodriguez. “Excessive and untreated stress has been linked to heart disease, depression, cancers, headaches, weight gain, insomnia, irritability and back pain. This all adds up to a substandard life and an early death and nobody wants that.”

Michael Chesler of Land 88 Realty Development had this to say; “After being referred to Aguasal for a painful lower back, I was welcomed with no appointment at a moments notice. I have never been in a place that caters to an individual’s every need, with the ultimate in professionalism. In regards to my back pain, I arrived with difficulty standing up and walked out so relaxed and un-stressed I almost forgot the discomfort I came with!”

The contest will be open until Thursday September 1st. The winner will be announced Friday September 2nd. Everyone is invited to enter and can send their entry to aguasal at sbcglobal. net.

New Website for Organic Consumers Lives Up to Its Name, OrganicAuthority. com

New Website for Organic Consumers Lives Up to Its Name, OrganicAuthority. com.

OrganicAuthority. com offers free advice, tips on sustainable living

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 8, 2005

For the ever-growing number of health - and environmentally conscious consumers who are seeking to live an organic lifestyle, a free new educational website delivers on its name: OrganicAuthority. com.

Recently launched by Los Angeles lifestyle expert and passionate gourmet foodie Laura Klein, OrganicAuthority. com is the Internet authority on organic living, with in-depth feature articles on organic food, gardening, health, shopping and home design—from exclusive interviews with alternative-health experts like Dr. Deepak Chopra and recipes from renowned organic chefs to cutting-edge scientific reports on genetically modified crops and the perils of pesticides. The site’s Winter Edition features entertaining and informative articles on organic wines, coffees and teas, baby food, gardening basics, yoga, soy and women’s health, recycling and beauty/skin-care products.

“I want to inspire people to live a more conscious, healthful life,” says Klein, whose professional culinary training allows her to share online recipes, as well as organic kitchen and home makeover tips. “You don’t have to be a ‘hippie’ to live this kind of lifestyle—and, contrary to what many people think, you don’t have to spend a lot of money.”

Klein’s interest in organic living is personal: “I see too many people developing unexplained diseases and dying from cancer and other health ailments, many of which are preventable,” she says. “Like most of us, I strive for a well-balanced—not stressed-out—life. That’s why I would rather eat clean, whole foods untainted by toxins or chemicals.”

And in a country where more than 60% of adults and children are overweight or obese, more Americans than ever before are turning to organic foods to improve their health and increase longevity. According to a report issued last month by the Organic Trade Association, organic food sales exceeded $15 billion in 2004, and sales have consistently climbed almost 20% a year. By 2009, sales are projected to reach $32 billion, as more consumers embrace the concept of eating healthfully and buying chemical-free home and personal-care products.

“If each of us makes a small effort to protect the environment, ensure the health of our children and give back to Mother Earth by going organic, we’ll make a big difference,” Klein says. “I want people to know that they have a choice in life: to eat clean, healthy foods instead of pesticide-laden produce, hormone-injected meats and chemically processed foods.”

As OrganicAuthority. com expands this year, Klein plans to introduce an online store that offers organic and sustainable-living products. She will also publish a free, subscription-based bimonthly newsletter.

“We want to be the destination site—the Organic Authority, as our name states—for what’s hip and happening in the organic and sustainable world,” she says. “We’re committed to giving our website community the latest scoop on organic products and helping them streamline their efforts to achieve an organic lifestyle—affordably and with simplicity.”

For additional information, contact Laura Klein at (310) 387-3594 or via email: pr@organicauthority. com.

ReachMD XM Channel 157 Begins Broadcast of New Programming series "Headway on Headaches" from GlaxoSmithKline

ReachMD, the voice of the medical community on XM radio 157, today announced that it will begin broadcasting a Special Medical Industry Feature of the Week on headaches beginning Monday, Nov. 5, 2007. The eight weekly segments, developed in a partnership between GlaxoSmithKline and Elsevier, advance the understanding and treatment of one of the most common - and most commonly misunderstood - disorders: headaches. Primary headaches include migraine, tension and cluster headaches and they are prevalent and in many instances disabling. Secondary headaches are those caused by an associated disease or disorder.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 6, 2007

"Over the next eight weeks the station will broadcast some of the world's top thought leaders and physician experts discussing the two types of headaches that nearly everyone has had or will experience over the course of a lifetime," said Gary Epstein, CEO of ReachMD. "It is an informative and important series because national medical statistics indicate that as many as 90% of adults have had or will have tension headaches and an estimated 28 million people in the United States alone (about 12% of the population) will experience migraines."

In the United States, primary headaches often go undiagnosed or are sometimes even misdiagnosed. Migraines, for example, are frequently diagnosed as tension or sinus headaches. As a result, many migraine sufferers do not receive effective treatment. Subsequently many headaches are caused by the very medications Americans use---or misuse---to alleviate their symptoms. Migraines can vary from person to person and from attack to attack, therefore the treatment needs for each attack may also vary. Because relief can mean the difference between debilitating pain and the ability to resume activities of daily life, it is important for migraine sufferers to be accurately diagnosed and have a variety of treatment options available.

"Given how prevalent headaches are, how debilitating they can be and how varied and specific their treatments are, it's imperative for medical professionals to be up to date on the latest research and advancements so they can treat their patients safely and effectively," added Epstein.. "We are pleased to be working with GlaxoSmithKline and Elsevier to support disease understanding, diagnosis and treatment of this all too common disorder."

Some of the topics on the series will include the following medical professionals and address these and other critical topics:
Multiple Mechanisms of Migraine: K. Michael Welch, MD Understanding Medication Overuse for Headaches: Joel R. Saper, MD Treatment of Medication Overuse for Headaches: Fred Sheftell, MD Migraine or Sinus Headache? Making the Diagnosis: Mark Mehle, MD Is It Tension Headache, or Is It Migraine?: Robert G. Kaniecki, MD Understanding Menstrual Migraines: Lisa K. Mannix, MD

Listeners will be able to podcast each program online at www. ReachMD. com] or at www. headwayonheadaches. com].

"It is a great privilege to be working with two of the world's leading producers of incisive and insightful medical information," said Epstein. "ReachMD is proud to be playing a role in exploring discovery and treatment options that have the potential to help so many millions of patients who struggle with headache on a far too frequent basis."

New Organic Cotton Menstrual Pads Launched in the UK by Baby-O

New Organic Cotton Menstrual Pads Launched in the UK by Baby-O

Organic Cotton Pads are a healthy alternative to disposable menstrual products; made with 100% certified organic cotton, they are comfortable, practical, and 100% safe. Organic Cotton Pads are launched in the UK on September 6 2005 by Baby-O, a leading wholesaler and retailer of organic mother and baby products.

(PRWEB) September 9, 2005

It has been estimated that women use approximately 11,000-13,000 menstrual pads or tampons each, during their menstruating years. Increasing numbers of women are concerned about the health risk of disposable menstrual products.

Almost all major brands of menstrual products contain numerous chemicals including Dioxin, which is a known carcinogen, and has been linked to cervical cancer, breast cancer, endometriosis, and immune system suppression. It is reported that even low levels of dioxin are harmful to the human body and there is much scientific debate as to whether there is such a thing as a “safe level” of dioxin exposure. In addition, the plastic and glue backing on disposable pads reduces air circulation and creates a stagnant environment in which some bacteria thrive. This can cause vaginal irritation and yeast infection.

More Comfortable than Disposable – Organic Cotton Pads are easy to clip on most panties and feel like just another layer of very soft underwear. Organic Cotton Pads do not have the sticky, sweaty feeling of disposables, and there’s no glue to get stuck in uncomfortable places.

100% Chemical Free – Organic Cotton Pads are made of 100% certified organic Egyptian cotton, which is grown without harmful pesticides, hand picked and treated without the use of any chemicals, and certified by the International Certification Board, Demeter. Egyptian organic cotton is incredibly soft, super-absorbent, breathable and durable.

Practical Design – Unlike most menstrual pads that require users to change the entire pad when it feels uncomfortably wet, Organic Cotton Pads allow a user to easily freshen the pad without having to change all of it. Because Organic Cotton Pads liners sit on top of the holder, the user only needs to swap out the liner, not the whole pad. This feature also allows users to purchase fewer pads and not be forced to carry around bulky disposable pads in their bag.

Only Organic Pads come with Colours! – Our Organic Cotton Pads are the ONLY washable organic cotton menstrual pads that come in a wide selection of beautiful prints. Most organic cotton pads are a dull oatmeal colour while ours offer various prints and colours. All dyes are environment-friendly low-impact metal-free dyes which are gentle to the skin.

Save Money – Organic Cotton Pads can last up to six years. On the average, a user will spend £4 per month on disposables, which over six years totals £288. The average start-up cost of the Organic Cotton Pads (2 Mini, 4 Day Pads and 2 Night Pads) is only £100. This can last at least 6 years. Fewer pads to purchase also save time and reduce waste in our environment.

Organic Cotton Pads are currently available at www. baby-o. co. uk.

NYC Homebound Deserve Access to Affordable, Healthy and Delicious Meals

NYC Homebound Deserve Access to Affordable, Healthy and Delicious Meals

Year old Westchester service expands throughout the five boroughs

New York, NY (PRWEB) January 21, 2011

According to the New York City Department for the Aging’s Profile of Older New Yorkers, 20 percent of older residents are mobility-impaired, making it difficult for them to access even the closest markets and restaurants. Top Chef Meals, a mid-Westchester based preparer/creator of gourmet prepared dishes for a new and unique home meal service, has delivered over 7,000 high-quality and nutritious meals to Westchester County's seniors and disabled since its inception in January 2010. With the opening of a new office in Manhattan, residents of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx and Staten Island can benefit from the same service.

“I had not realized how difficult it is for the homebound to eat nutritious affordable meals until my own 80-year-old father commented about his limited food options,” says Paul Ghiron, president of corporate caterer Crystal Spoon and founder of Top Chef Meals, “He was stuck between choosing from the poor tasting unhealthy supermarket frozen meals and the high cost of restaurants fare. Unable to afford to eat out every meal, he commented that if the high sodium content of typical supermarket meals didn’t kill him, his cardiologist would for eating them. Seeing food through my dad’s eyes, I was inspired to look at Crystal Spoon in a different way and think about how we might combine our production efficiency with gourmet chef talents to create a line of tasty and affordable dishes for home delivery.”

Customers select from a menu of close to five dozen main and side dishes, soups, desserts, and breakfast items at a price of $6.85 per entrée plus two sides, with a 20 percent discount for seniors that brings the price down to $5.50. “My daughter purchased a package of meals for me and I enjoyed them so much, I purchased another package right away,” said Anna Claudio, a Bronx resident. “Top Chef Meals makes it easy for me to eat balanced, healthy meals that taste like they came from a gourmet restaurant.”

Top Chef Meals represents Ghiron’s commitment toward reasonably priced, healthy, nutritious, home-delivered meals. The care and preparation that Crystal Spoon perfected for their corporate clientele are the same for Top Chef Meals. With its' recent expansion of production, storage, and freezer space to handle 4,800 meals per day, the company is poised to handle the tremendous demand from NYC residents.

"Top Chef Meals has represented a vast upgrade in value, flexibility and service for our organization,” said Frank Geritano, Director of Home Delivered Meals at the Stanley Isaacs Neighborhood Center located on E. 93rd Street. “The quality of their food has been exceptional and we are pleased to offer our clients such a superior service.”

Top Chef Meals received the Best of Westchester Award for Company With a Heart from Westchester Magazine in 2010 and was acknowledged for its commitment to reducing hunger in county residents.

Top Chef Meals new Manhattan office is located at 255 W 36 Street, Suite 800, New York, NY 10018, telephone 212-905-5060, fax 646-367-4960, and at 175 Clearbrook Rd, Elmsford, NY 10523, telephone 914.372.7083, http://www. topchefmeals. com.

Pahrump, NV (PRWEB) February 11, 2009

Resort-style amenities highlighting the Mountain Falls community (www. mountainfalls. com) in Pahrump is supportive to residents wanting to live a healthy lifestyle.

According to resident facility manager Josh Gaston, onsite amenities provide residents convenient access to a state-of-the-art fitness facility and swimming pool complex, and a picturesque public golf course with a restaurant offering healthy menu options all located within the master-planned community just about 45 miles west of Las Vegas.

"The Mountain Falls residents' center is a beautiful facility where our residents can come to relax, exercise and have fun," Gaston said.

"The facility includes a fitness center with top-of-the-line, club-quality exercise equipment. We also offer residents yoga and low-impact aerobics classes on a regular basis in our multipurpose room, appealing to those who prefer a group exercise experience," Gaston said.

The residents' facilities offerings will expand in April when its resort-style swimming pool complex reopens.

"Our swimming pool complex, which is open from April through October, is a very popular place among residents of all ages," Gaston said. "It consists of two areas. One area features a family-style pool and a 'splash pad' which is like an interactive water playground that's fun for kids. In the rear, we have an adult area with a 25-acre lap pool and a spa."

The facility also consists of a residents' lounge ideal for social gatherings with card tables, pool tables, and a big-screen television.

The Mountain Falls Golf Club features an 18-hole, par-72 course built amid mature trees and around sparkling water features with multiple waterfalls. Its sloped greens, well-place deep bunkers and water hazards challenge golfers of varying skill. Private and group lessons are available through onsite golf pros.

In addition to daily greens fees, annual, six-month, three-month and monthly golf passes are available to residents and nonresidents alike and include unlimited play and golf cart use.

Gaston said residents who prefer less-strenuous exercise can enjoy leisurely walks along paved walking trails that meander throughout the community and along the perimeter of the course.

Overlooking the golf course is the Mountain Falls Grill Room, serving residents and nonresidents breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu provides a range of fare, including entrees that appeal to those seeking healthy eating options.

William Lyon Homes, Mountain Falls' master-plan developer, is constructing the Bella Sera, Cascata Ancora and Tramonto neighborhoods, where single-story homes measuring from 1,157 to 2,897 square feet are available. Homes are priced from the mid-$100,000s.

The William Lyon neighborhoods are open from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. daily except Monday, when model homes open at noon.

Bumrungrad International Hospital Makes Treatment Costs Available to Public - Bumrungrad International Offers Free Online Access to Actual Costs of 45 Procedures

Bumrungrad International Hospital Makes Treatment Costs Available to Public - Bumrungrad International Offers Free Online Access to Actual Costs of 45 Procedures

Bumrungrad International hospital, Bangkok, Thailand, Southeast Asia's largest private hospital and one of the world's top medical travel destinations, has launched a unique online service to allow prospective patients to anticipate the costs of treatment. Called REALCOST, the service shows what Bumrungrad patients actually paid for over 40 medical procedures at the hospital. REALCOST is on the hospital's website at www. bumrungrad. com/realcost.

Bangkok, Thailand (PRWEB) October 3, 2008

Bumrungrad International hospital (http://www. bumrungrad. com/index-inter. aspx), Southeast Asia's largest private hospital and one of the world's top medical travel destinations, has launched a unique online service to allow prospective patients to anticipate the costs of treatment. Called REALCOST (http://www. bumrungrad. com/realcost/index. aspx), the service shows what Bumrungrad patients actually paid for over 40 medical procedures at the hospital. REALCOST is on the hospital's website at www. bumrungrad. com/realcost (http://www. bumrungrad. com/realcost).

Until now, finding out what a medical procedure will cost has been difficult. Most hospitals don't provide such information, and only a handful do so online. Others give estimates that exclude significant items, such as doctors fees, that patients will pay when they leave the hospital. Inquirers often have no way of knowing if the hospital's response is an 'average' or 'lowest possible' cost.

"It's difficult for both hospitals and patients," acknowledged Bumrungrad CEO Mack Banner. "You really can't make a good estimate until the doctor sees the patient and knows what treatment will be required. But patients want to get at least an approximate idea in advance, to help them select a hospital and plan for the costs. We wanted to be transparent and helpful in this regard, and we think the way to do that is simply to show what our patients actually paid."

Created by an in-house team of developers and available free to the public on Bumrungrad's website (http://www. bumrungrad. com/index-inter. aspx), REALCOST lists 45 procedures -- surgeries such as appendectomy, heart bypass, hysterectomy, and knee replacement, and diagnostic procedures such as capsule endoscopy and colonoscopy. For each procedure, REALCOST (http://www. bumrungrad. com/realcost/index. aspx) shows information about the total bill patients paid upon leaving the hospital, including doctor fees, medication and supplies, and room costs for inpatient procedures. Inquiry results show three figures: a "low cost" which means only one in four patients paid less; a "median," which means half paid more, half less; and a "high cost" which was exceeded by only 1 in 4 patients who had the procedure.

Using a hip replacement as an example, REALCOST (http://www. bumrungrad. com/realcost/index. aspx) shows a low cost of 361,255 baht (US$10,940), a median cost of 413,717 baht (US$12,545), and a high cost of 447,648 baht (US$13,565). A website that helps uninsured Americans estimate US hospital costs shows the average cost of a hip replacement as $39,299 in the U. S.

"Most patients will fall somewhere in the middle," says Banner. "We exclude both the highest and the lowest 25% from the results. Those cases are not typical so it would be misleading to suggest that your surgery would cost as much or as little as that. Of course, after you are evaluated by our specialists, we provide an estimate specific to your case. Then you still have a chance to decide whether to go ahead."

REALCOST (http://www. bumrungrad. com/realcost/index. aspx) is currently based on full year 2007 data. Bumrungrad plans to update its database to keep REALCOST current and to add more procedures. Results can be displayed in any of 45 different currencies.

"Data transparency is such an important component of the contemporary healthcare experience, empowering patients to make informed decisions," says Josef Woodman, author of Patients Beyond Borders. "I hope to eventually see all hospitals making this kind of information readily available to the public."

About Bumrungrad International
Bumrungrad International hospital (http://www. bumrungrad. com/index-inter. aspx) is Southeast Asia's premier private hospital and a regional referral center for advanced care, offering 554 beds, 30 specialty centers, 1,000 medical specialists and over 800 nurses. Lily Organics Shares All-Natural Tips For Protecting Skin From Winter’s Harsh Elements

Lily Organics Shares All-Natural Tips For Protecting Skin From Winter’s Harsh Elements

USDA Certified Organic grower and handcrafter of skin care line helps eco-minded beauty mavens protect their skin this winter and beyond

Brighton, Colo. (PRWEB) December 17, 2009

The snowcapped mountains, fireside cups of cocoa and holidays filled with family and friends make winter a much welcomed time for cozy conversations and runs down the ski slopes. Our skin, however, would beg to differ. Dropping temperatures, dry air and chilling winds all contribute to a season of dry skin that’s prone to breakouts. Lily Organics, the only company on planet Earth to grow its own ingredients on a USDA Certified Organic farm and make fresh products weekly in their own FDA-inspected lab, shares its tips for maintaining your skin’s beauty during the beauty of winter.
Think Organically: The greater the percentage of organic ingredients in your skincare products, the better. According to Lily Morgan, seventh generation American farmer and the founder of Lily Organics, “Ideally, every ingredient in your skincare product is pure and organic. Natural plant derivatives have been effectively used for thousands of years to heal, soothe and moisturize even the driest of skin,” she states. Bottom line? Organic ingredients are going to feed skin with the freshest, most pure elements possible, ensuring that the skin gets the nutrients it needs without the barriers oftentimes created by synthetic chemicals.

Simplify: Finding the right combination of botanicals is key during winter months, and simplifying the process is paramount to finding the most effective combination to combat dry skin. “Far too often, folks complicate their skincare regimes with too many products that instead of complementing one another, work against each others and ultimately have little effect on the skin,” Morgan attests. Experts like Morgan concur that keeping a skincare routine to three-four products maximum is best, and that the fewer ingredients in a product, particularly synthetic ingredients, the better.

Embrace Botanicals: The best way to moisturize skin during the winter is with pure botanicals. Comfrey and Rose Hips oil help cells regenerate, increase normal lubrication and help prevent wrinkles. Seaweed components also function to naturally attract and hold moisture. “Nature’s inherent ability to balance the skin and body is profound,” Lily Morgan says.

Down to a Tea: It’s not just about what you put on your skin topically, but also what you put in your body that makes a difference. Drinking herbal teas such as sarsaparilla, burdock, yellow dock and nettle can improve internal circulation, aiding in proper moisture distribution throughout the body. “Plus, relaxing with a hot cup of tea during the hustle and bustle of the season can help to de-stress and detoxify, naturally promoting healthy, glowing skin,” Lily Morgan finishes.

For more information regarding Lily Organics, product samples, or to interview founder and CEO Lily Morgan, please contact Betsy Martin at 303.818.3114 or betsy(at)decibelcommunications(dot)com. Lily Organics can be found online at http://www. lilyorganics. com (http://www. lilyorganics. com).

Wizzard Software Announces Canadian Patent Application Filing For Talking Pill Bottle

Wizzard Software Announces Canadian Patent Application Filing For Talking Pill Bottle

Wizzard Software Corp. (OTCBB: WIZD) announced today it has filed a patent application through its MedivoxRx Technologies, Inc. division with the Canadian Patent and Trademark Office. The application is titled "Pill, Capsule, or Medicine Container Audio Instruction Systems and Methods for Providing Audio Instructions with Pill, Capsule or Medicine Container."

PITTSBURGH, (PRWEB) September 23, 2004 -

Wizzard Software Corp. (OTCBB: WIZD) announced today it has filed a patent application through its MedivoxRx Technologies, Inc. division with the Canadian Patent and Trademark Office. The application is titled "Pill, Capsule, or Medicine Container Audio Instruction Systems and Methods for Providing Audio Instructions with Pill, Capsule or Medicine Container."

IMS Health's annual review of prescribing and diagnoses trends reveals 2003 was a record year in the growth of retail prescriptions filled by Canadians. There were over 361 million prescriptions filled in Canadian retail pharmacies in 2003 (excludes hospitals). Retail prescriptions grew 7.9% over 2002, the largest annual increase during the last decade. Last year's retail prescription market totaled $15.9 billion, which represents on average 11 prescriptions per Canadian at an average retail price of $44 per prescription.

It follows that Canadian physicians were just as busy in 2003 as their health care colleagues in pharmacy, especially those in family practice. There were 309 million visits made to office-based physicians last year and a family physician/general practitioner was seen in 73% of these visits. Of the more than 361 million retail prescriptions filled in Canadian retail pharmacies in 2003, 80% of all prescriptions (new prescriptions and refills) were written by family physicians. Family physicians comprise about half of the approximately 57,000 doctors in Canada.

Rex, the talking medication bottle, assists pharmacies in complying with stringent prescription medication regulations by having the dosage instructions and other critical information read "out-loud" to patients in addition to providing the instructions on the standard label. This audio assistance helps to ensure that a patient fully understands what the medication is, how often to take it and when to refill the prescription or discontinue its use. Canada is the world's seventh largest market in terms of pharmacy sales (purchases by retail pharmacies) at US$5.5 billion and it is the second fastest growing.

In addition to assisting pharmacies with their compliance initiatives, Rex helps meet the needs of an aging population as people lose their sight, cognitive functionality and physical abilities. Rex allows a patient to simply push a button on the bottle and hear their name, prescription type, dosage instructions, drug warnings and other information read in a clear, friendly voice.

Action Sports Doctor, Mark Sanders, Now Featured in Monthly Column for BMX Today -- 'Ask Dr. Mark Sanders' Renowned Orthopedic Surgeon Gives Advice and Addresses Commonly Asked Questions

Action Sports Doctor, Mark Sanders, Now Featured in Monthly Column for BMX Today -- 'Ask Dr. Mark Sanders' Renowned Orthopedic Surgeon Gives Advice and Addresses Commonly Asked Questions

Dr. Mark Sanders, renowned orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine doctor to the action sport athlete, is now featured in a column in official NBL publication -- BMX Today.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) October 24, 2006

The official healthcare provider of the Houston Supercross and personal physician to many top action sports athletes, including world MX champion Jeff Dement and professional BMX riders John "the Jackal" Purse, Jason Carnes and Warwick Stevenson, Dr. Mark Sanders of the Sanders Clinic for Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine extends his online health forums to the pages of BMX Today -- the official publication of the National Bicycle League (NBL).

Dr. Mark Sanders' aggressive approach to ACL injuries and shoulder instability conditions has grabbed the attention of injured athletes from across the United States who are eager to get back to their sport. His treatment plan combined with accelerated rehabilitation and reconditioning programs have cut recovery time in half for many common action sports injuries.

"I believe I've been able to help a lot of young athletes through my online health and fitness forums. And I'm looking forward to reaching even more through this new BMX Today column. The traditional treatment plans for some of the common action sports injuries may be beneficial for the non athlete, but they're not acceptable for the extreme athlete who needs to get right back out there. I have seen this again and again over my 20 years as an orthopedic surgeon. And the differences in treatment are important for athletes to understand," said Dr. Sanders.

The "Ask Dr. Sanders" column is in its fourth month and has covered the repair and recovery of fractured clavicles and ACL injuries. Upcoming issues will focus on the accelerated rehabilitation and reconditioning program Dr. Sanders and his staff of certified fitness trainers employ to strengthen injured athletes.

"Dr. Sanders' column in BMX Today has been a great addition to our magazine," said BMX Today editor Jess Moore.

"The National Bicycle League is here to support our members in BMX racing and Dr. Sanders has given our members wonderful advice. Although injuries are never a good thing, they are a reality in BMX racing. With an expert on these injuries writing a column, we feel that the magazine has become an even better resource for our members. 'Ask Dr. Sanders' has quickly become one of the most read and useful columns in BMX Today," said Moore.

According to 2006 UCI BMX World Champion Jason Carnes, the treatment Dr. Sanders used to address his ACL injury was unlike that of other physicians with which he had consulted and took minimal time away from his racing.

"To my surprise, I walked the very next day after surgery -- including up stairs! His extensive rehab accelerated my recovery. I was winning races again within six months," Carnes added.

Dr. Sanders has been named one of Houston's "Top Docs" for the past two years by H Texas magazine and was featured among the Leaders and Innovators in the 2005-2006 edition of Medicine Men of Texas. Texas CitySports magazine also runs a periodic advice column, Ask the Sports Doctor, addressing common questions Dr. Sanders receives. His health forums can be found at www. houstonmotocross. com, www. ktmtalk. com, and www. thumpertalk. com.

"All too often I see golfers end up taking pain killers or having to stop playing all together, just because of back pain from golf. Recently chiropractic treatment has really caught on as an excellent way to alleviate those on-the-green pains," says Dr. Soanes.

"The problems occur from all those repetitive golf swings. Since chiropractic is the science of the spine, we are in a good position to help golfers understand the correct way to take care of their bodies while still enjoying lots of golf," says Dr. Soanes.

Professional golfers are well aware of the benefits that chiropractic care can provide. A recent study reported that up to 85 percent of injuries on the PGA Tour and Senior Tour relate to the spine. Between 70 to 75 percent of these golfers receive chiropractic care regularly. Amateur golfers can especially benefit from chiropractic care. There is approximately 25 to 30 million amateur golfers in America. Dr. Soanes says, "It's my goal to educate golfers that chiropractic can really benefit them and keep them playing pain free."

Dr. Soanes says, "Not only can chiropractors most effectively treat acute and chronic back injuries caused by golf, but can also help them prevent injuries. Some important things they should be doing are stretching before and after golfing, keeping hydrated, shortening your back swing, and using correct posture and stance."

Dr. Soanes invites any golfer who is interested in improving their game and saving their back to schedule a complimentary office visit. "This way they can see how chiropractic might enhance their golf game." The office of Dr. Rose Soanes, D. C. is located at 1036 Bell Road, Niles, MI 49120. She can be reached by telephone at 269-683-1700.

Provocative New Novel Explores Caseworker/Patient Relationship in Mental Health Treatment Hospital

Provocative New Novel Explores Caseworker/Patient Relationship in Mental Health Treatment Hospital

A psychiatric caseworker grapples with the secret of an adolescent patient in Michael J. Flanagan's The Arboretum.

Sacramento, Calif. (PRWEB) April 25, 2008

The Arboretum, a new book by Michael J. Flanagan, is a thought provoking story about trust, betrayal, and the complexities that arise when one is committed to keeping a secret "no matter what."

Set in a university mental health facility in Michigan in the 1970s, The Arboretum is the gripping story of a psychiatric case worker who is entrusted with a young patient's secret. Gradually, he discovers that keeping her secret will not be easy; in fact, it threatens to turn his life upside down. His co-workers and the patient's therapist begin to be suspicious of him, and even the patient herself begins to doubt his ability to keep his word. In desperation, she turns to new friends she discovers living in the arboretum near the hospital grounds and designs a plan that will have serious repercussions for everyone.

Flanagan, who wrote his novel years after having first-hand experience working in a treatment center, has crafted a stunning novel about trust and redemption. Beautifully written and filled with complex and engaging characters, The Arboretum is as intriguing as it is entertaining.

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Now Covered by Insurance at East Gate Chiropractic & Wellness

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Now Covered by Insurance at East Gate Chiropractic & Wellness

East gate Chiropractic & Wellness is one of only a few officees using the new Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression technology to treat chronic and acute low back pain, including bulging or herniated discs. Unlike other cebters offering this state of the art technology East Gate Chiropractic may be the only center that is accepting insurance patients for this procedure.

Mount Laurel, NJ (PRWEB) April 6, 2010

East Gate Chiropractic & Wellness in Mount Laurel has recently been informed by several major insurance companies that non-surgical spinal decompression is being covered by health insurance. “This is very exciting news for our patients. Now, we're able to help people with a great therapy that has already helped many people in Burlington and Camden Counties, but now we will be able to help many more that have insurance coverage available” stated Leonard F. Vernon, D. C. the director of East Gate Chiropractic & Wellness Chiropractor at Wellness & Better Health Chiropractic.

Non-surgical spinal decompression had been used for many years in helping alleviate neck and low back pain associated with disc bulges, disc herniations as well as chronic back pain that have not been helped by other non invasive procedures. The machine used at East Gate Chiropractic & Wellness is a Lordex ® unit made by Lordex Systems in Texas. Lordex is one of the major manufacturers of non-surgical spinal decompression equipment in the world.

Dr. Vernon stated “We began using Lordex ® in 2009 in addition to the standard chiropractic therapies and felt it would compliment everything that the clinic had been doing, but would continue to help improve patients that no longer improved from chiropractic or physical therapy. Lordex® is used by orthopedic surgeons, pain management doctors and chiropractors alike. We really enjoy being able to help people return to the activities they love and now with some insurance companies covering the therapy as it is becoming more integrated into our health care model it is definitively a win-win.” Unfortunately because many insurance programs have not covered non-surgical spinal decompression many practitioners in the area have taken advantage of this situation charging patients $3000-$5000 for the 12-20 sessions usually required to complete the treatment plan.

Dr. Vernon has been practicing chiropractic care in the South Jersey area since 1979 and focuses his care on acute and chronic low back and neck problems. He is certified is licensed by the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners and holds a special license in electro-diagnostic testing. Dr. Vernon re-iterated that Lordex® therapy is not covered by all insurance companies, but a quick call to his office would determine if a patient’s insurance would coverall or part of this treatment.

Changed Perception of Users in Nanotechnology, the Market Promises to Grow by $1 Trillion

Changed Perception of Users in Nanotechnology, the Market Promises to Grow by $1 Trillion

After undertaking a survey, it was found that overall there was a negative feeling towards nanotechnology. However, the nanotechnology industry is poised to grow to a trillion dollars by 2015.

(PRWEB) December 8, 2005

After undertaking a survey, it was found that overall there was a negative feeling towards nanotechnology. The reason was based on two experiences: unease about nanoparticles in cosmetics and a deeper unhappiness in using the technology in military enhancement.

However, the nanotechnology industry is poised to grow to a trillion dollars by 2015. The responsibility of building a trust therefore, lies with the federal government and industry when they go about developing new nano applications.

According to a recent market research report, "The World Nanotechnology Market 2005" prepared by RNCOS, experts say that two thirds of the people all over the world who are aware of developments in this nascent science of nanotechnology agreed on its potential benefits in health and medicine, national defense, and environment sectors. Those who did not see favorably towards nanotechnology needed to be convinced that the supervision of the government would be swift, rigorous, and independent of external intervention. People beleive that both government and industry should check and improve trust.

Since nanotechnology is far smaller than micro-tech, there are immense possibilities of nanotech applications with ever new properties. The growth being rapid and enormous, this technology is emerging as a contender for MEMs in many areas.
