Malibu, CA (PRWEB) September 14, 2010

Passages Malibu recently hired Dr. Amy Reichenbach to do clinical psychology with the clients, as well as for the rehab center located in Ventura. As part of the holistic treatment program, Dr. Reichenbach is responsible for treating food addictions as well as ensuring that clients do not develop a harmful bond with food while overcoming the alcohol or drug addiction. “We are delighted to have Amy on board," said Pax Prentiss, co-founder and co-director of Passages Addiction Cure Center, "She brings a wealth of experience which is vital to our holistic treatment at Passages."

Reichenbach is a licensed clinical psychologist and has 11 years of experience working in medical and mental health facilities, including The Sexual Trauma Recovery Center at Arnold Palmer and Tampa General Hospital. Most recently she was an eating disorder therapist at BHC Alhambra Hospital. Prior to that, she was a correctional therapist and psychological evaluator for The Broward Sherriff’s office. Reichenbach, educated and trained in Florida, holds a Master’s and Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology from The Florida School of Professional Psychology. She graduated from The University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Her experience has encompassed eating disorders, sexual trauma recovery, dual diagnosis, weight management, and working with medical patients, including organ transplant recipients.

Reichenbach, an advocate of the holistic treatment approach, is excited to work at Passages Malibu. In a recent interview, she expressed how essential treating unresolved issues or trauma is to overcoming alcohol, drug and other types of addiction. She emphasized that holistic treatment programs are successful because they incorporate many essential components, each dedicated to healing and resolving that particular aspect of the individual, illness and its consequences. She also expressed that clients are much more open and motivated to overcome addiction and receive treatment for underlying issues because they receive an abundant amount of one-on-one therapy sessions at Passages, more than any other place, which makes the Passages Malibu and Passages Ventura drug rehab programs effective.

“Often the same underlying issues drive both drug and food addictions. Sometimes, when the drug or alcohol is taken away, our clients reach out for another addiction, such as food,” said Reichenbach, “sometimes the food addiction is lying dormant and resurfaces as a coping mechanism. Eating and food is an important part of everyone’s life and for some it can have profound meaning. It is an essential part of holistic treatment. In the future, I would like to see Passages Malibu expand its treatment of primary addictions of drugs and alcohol to include eating disorders and food addictions.”

Passages Malibu and Passages Ventura are alcohol and drug rehab centers. They are world known for their innovative and cutting edge treatment integrating the best of holistic and conventional practices for treating addiction. Passages Malibu and Ventura rehabilitation centers have spurred much research and have gained much interest from the international health and medical communities. Passages Malibu co-founder, Chris Prentiss, has written several books including “The Alcoholism and Addiction Cure,” which has helped thousands of people cure their addiction, as it contains the same process used at Passages Malibu.
