Sanitec Industries, Inc. of Sun Valley, California (www. sanitecindustries. com), the owner and worldwide patent holder of the Sanitec Microwave Healthcare Waste Disinfection System™, today announced the first major upgrades of the system since its introduction into the United States in the early 90s.

The technical upgrades will dramatically improve the systems' uptime, throughput and treatment efficacy and come standard on all new 2007 Sanitec HGA 250s units. In January of 2007, an upgrade package will be available for existing Sanitec customers for units manufactured from 1991 through 2002.

Healthcare facilities nationwide, ranging from large hospital systems to single practitioner doctors' offices, utilize Sanitec systems to transform dangerous healthcare waste into low-volume, unrecognizable non-infectious material that requires no further treatment and can be safely disposed of in municipal landfills. Sanitec units are fully automated, self-contained and are approved for use in all 50 states and DC. Worldwide, Sanitec systems have treated over 500 million pounds of infectious waste.

New Shredding System

The new 2007 HGA 250s includes a new single drum shredding system which improves Sanitec unit throughput to 2,200 pounds per hour. The new drum shredder reduces maintenance to a fraction of previous costs, eliminates the worry of costly metal "strikes," and allows for the shredding and treatment of all types of human and animal bio hazardous waste (including all types of animal carcasses).

Programs are available for existing Sanitec customers that provide for retrofit upgrade options. Customers, that purchase a new 2007 Sanitec HGA 250 or have their existing unit upgraded, are eligible to participate in the Sanitec On-Site Maintenance Program providing guaranteed equipment service and access to all future upgrades.
