A MotherÂ’s Day Gift Like No Other: Giving Mom the Gift of her Voice and Her Legacy; Los Angeles Filmmaker Transforms Stories Of Ordinary People Into Unforgettable Memoirs

A MotherÂ’s Day Gift Like No Other: Giving Mom the Gift of her Voice and Her Legacy; Los Angeles Filmmaker Transforms Stories Of Ordinary People Into Unforgettable Memoirs

Los Angeles filmmaker Loren Stephens is breaking the mold when it comes to memoirs, transforming lives and empowering scores of ordinary people by giving voice to their life story and their legacy. Stephens dispels the notion that memoirs are only appropriate or available to a select group of famous, rich or special individuals. The underlying philosophy of Stephens' company, Write Wisdom, is the belief that every life is unique; that every person has a right to express what is inside his or her head and inside their heart, but not everyone has the self-confidence or discipline to accomplish this task without the help and support of a memoir coach.

Los Angeles (PRWEB) May 2, 2005

When Los Angeles filmmaker Loren Stephens began interviewing her mother several years ago, little did she know that her journey to memorialize her motherÂ’s life would lead to a passion for supporting and guiding ordinary people in their quest to write about their extraordinary lives. When StephensÂ’ mother succumbed to ill health two years ago, everything changed. Her motherÂ’s memoir, published under the guidance of Write Wisdom, Inc., StephensÂ’ memoir creation company, was no longer just a gift that Loren presented to her mother on MotherÂ’s Day. Instead, her motherÂ’s legacy as captured by her memoir, was transformed into a priceless gift for the entire family.

Now through her company, Write Wisdom, Stephens is breaking the mold when it comes to memoirs, transforming lives and empowering scores of ordinary people by giving voice to their life story and their legacy. Write Wisdom dispels the notion that memoirs are only appropriate or available to a select group of famous, rich or special individuals. The underlying philosophy of Write Wisdom is the belief that every life is unique; that every person has a right to express what is inside his or her head and inside their heart, but not everyone has the self-confidence or discipline to accomplish this task without the help of a memoir coach.

For Loren Stephens, helping nurture a memoir, especially a memoir for a mother, is a labor of love. “Some memoirs are headed for the best-seller list; others may not be, but ordinary people with extraordinary stories will find willing and appreciative readers who want to know about their lives," says Stephens. "The lessons of your life, or your Mom’s life, may be useful to others who now walk the same path. By sharing triumphs, tragedies, an illness, you will give your reader and your family solace, strength, hope and even the tools they need so that they too can go on, no matter how great the challenge they face."

Write WisdomÂ’s goal is to assist people to craft a readable, compelling, entertaining, and moving memoir through an organized process that will advance the desire to tell their unique story into a completed manuscript and published book.

Stephens began her career as an editor for Houghton Mifflin Publishing Company. Her love for the theater and books led her to Los Angeles where she established a theater and film production company, producing over thirty plays including “Hannah Senesh” about the life of Israel’s national heroine, “The Normal Heart” about the AIDS epidemic starring Richard Dreyfuss and Kathy Bates, and “To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday,” a family drama in which a college professor comes to terms with the loss of his wife in a sailing accident.

Loren also served as executive producer for the Emmy nominated PBS documentary, “Legacy of the Hollywood Blacklist,” narrated by Burt Lancaster; the bilingual documentary, “Los Pastores: The Shepherd’s Play,” about Hispanic folk traditions in the Rio Grande Valley produced for KCET/Los Angeles; and the docudrama, “Sojourner Truth: Ain't I a Woman?” starring Julie Harris and Roscoe Lee Browne, on the life of the famous abolitionist and suffragette, Sojourner Truth, produced for Coronet Films and New World Television, which won a National Golden Apple from the National Education Association.

LorenÂ’s films and stage productions focused on historically important events, and individuals who dramatically impacted the social and political climate in which they lived. Her decision to undertake a project was always based on finding a compelling story that would move an audience. It is this philosophy and passion for ordinary people with extraordinary stories that continues to find expression in the books that she helps others write today.
