Recall Corporation Announces Document Management Industry's First RFID-Enabled Service
Boston-Area Facility Chosen for Launch of Full-Cycle Document Management Service Utilizing Radio Frequency Tagging
Boston, Mass. (PRWEB) February 21, 2007
Recall Corporation, the document lifecycle management company, has launched the industry's first full-cycle storage and management service and facility to utilize radio frequency identification (RFID) technology for identification, inventory, and tracking of customers' document and electronic data archives. Deployed at the company's Document Management Solutions Mega-Center in Northborough, Mass., RFID tagging adds a new layer of security and management efficiency to Recall's pace-setting marks for service.
By equipping document archival cartons with passive RFID tags, and the use of specially designed RFID equipment deployed throughout the facility, Recall information centers provide enhanced 100 percent annual inventory and audit reporting for their customers. No longer constrained by costly, time-consuming physical audits that involve locating and moving each carton, RFID represents a quantum leap in inventory audit processes, allowing Recall to achieve Perfect Execution on behalf of its customers. That means document archives are where they are supposed to be at all times, able to be retrieved quickly when needed, and promptly destroyed in accordance with regulation and company policy.
Chosen because of the vitality of the Boston area's legal, medical, and financial services industries, and because of the stringent regulatory demands placed on those industries, RFID tagging supports strict compliance with data management regulations such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) and more.
"The number of information-sensitive companies operating in the Boston area, coupled with the region's tradition of technical innovation, made this the ideal place to begin the roll-out of our RFID-enabled service offering," said Russell Skinner, VP Global Integration, Recall Corp. "Our pilot program demonstrated to us the potential for RFID technology to transform our industry, and the response from our blue-ribbon client roster has been overwhelming.
"And while our results to date have me wishing we'd taken this step earlier, we're still way ahead of the rest of our industry," Skinner continued.
Among the first organizations participating in Recall's RFID program are a major law firm, a national construction firm, a regional energy company, and a large financial institution -- which has already contracted with Recall to RFID tag its entire future inventory.
Recall Corporation provides complete lifecycle management services to more than 75,000 customers from 250 information centers on five continents. For more information visit Recall Corp. (http://www. recall. com).
