Amarillo, TX (PRWEB) August 8, 2003 – MicroFour, Inc., a leader in practice management systems and electronic medical record (EMR) design, announced recently a new add-on feature, called Mailroom, for its PracticeStudio® ChartPower® EMR system. The new add-on provides a stand-alone solution for faxing and e-mailing EMR documents and prescriptions from within PracticeStudio® without requiring any third-party products.

Mailroom consists of two integrated components that are installed on the PracticeStudio user desktop PCs throughout the network. The first component is a “Fax” printer driver that is automatically installed on every PC. From within PracticeStudio® (or any other Windows application), any report (including EMR documents) or specialized forms, like prescriptions, may be directed to the “Fax” printer. This component takes the contents of the report or document and produces a “fax” image.

All fax images are automatically directed to the second component of the Mailroom feature, the Mailroom “server.” This server is installed on one or more PCs within the network, anywhere a fax line is available for use. Although the Mailroom server may be installed on more than one machine, each copy of the server can service up to 64 different fax lines. This server optionally handles outgoing and incoming faxes, and outgoing emails.

The PracticeStudio® Mailroom is unique in that no third-party products are required to support the faxing and email solutions. Many competitive practice management / EMR systems require the installation of additional products from Microsoft or specific fax management packages. PracticeStudio® Mailroom is totally self-contained, requiring only the necessary fax modems for transmission.

Additional features include the ability to review received or transmitted faxes directly on the PC screen. These fax images may be printed on any printer within the userÂ’s network. Optionally, the user may direct received faxes to be automatically printed to any specified printer immediately upon receipt of the fax.

“Several of these enhancements are the direct result of client requests. We are good listeners and do our best to take the advice of clients, because their hands-on daily work with PracticeStudio puts them in a position to discover needed enhancements and improvements. We truly appreciate our clients’ valuable input and support,” said Brett Taylor, President of MicroFour, Inc.
