Movistar Brings Huawei’s Pulse, The First Android-Driven Phone, to Ecuador

Based on free software, which allows users to create and download thousands of applications, the Huawei Pulse works with the Google-developed OS for mobile

Guayaquil, Ecuador (PRWEB) June 26, 2010

Android, the Google’s operative system for mobile devices, arrives to Ecuador with Movistar and Huawei, via the Pulse, a new concept in mobile devices.

This innovative smartphone, considered one of the world’s best phones in the Mobile World Congress 2010, is especially configured for a variety of audiences from executives and students to geeks and social media lovers.

In order to enjoy the Pulse’s full potential, the key is having a Google GMail account to provide automatic access to YouTube, Google Talk, Google Calendar, Google Search and Google Maps. Additionally, its structure is based on free software, which allows users to create and download thousands of applications such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, waze and others.

Movistar offers its customers the Pulse for $299 plus tax within the Multicolor 30 Plan that includes 390 minutes across all networks and 40 SMSes. The device’s value can be paid for in up to 24 months with our customers’ preferred credit card. In addition, users can navigate on the Internet, using a plan from $14.99 a month that includes 60 MB.

In every Pulse, Movistar also provides the free Guiame and waze applications preloaded. They are useful geolocalization and GPS navigation applications, respectively. Waze, powered by Location World, is a free mobile application that groups local driving communities so that they collaborate to build and update the maps while sharing real-time road information including traffic jams, accidents, hazards, etc. The waze application for the Pulse offers the users turn-by-turn navigation, real-time traffic reports and up to the minute traffic information.

Guiame is another tool that provides different points of interest on an Ecuadorian map, such as supermarkets, pharmacies, retail stores and Movistar’s support and sales centers, among others places.

Pulse’s features include:
GPS receiver  3.2 megapixels camera, with auto-focus and video  256 MB memory, expandible with microSD cards  Bluetooth  Multimedia support  Long-life Battery  3.5 inch (329 x 480 pixels) touch screen, similar to the iPhone.  Wifi with 3G connectivity, allowing users to navigate at very high speed
