Past events and tragedies from pet food companies have caused Americans to scramble to find better quality dog food made in the United States. Carol Hoard started GoodiesForUs. com in February 2008; the web store specializes in healthy dog treats that are made in Illinois. The site recently added an informational blog.

In 2007, the Associated Press reported that over 50 brands of pet food were recalled after 104 pets died as the result of a contamination within the ingredients. This caused an uproar amongst pet owners everywhere who often pay exorbitant amounts of money to ensure the best food for their pets. Not wanting to risk the lives of dogs everywhere, longtime dog lover, Carol Hoard, did something about it, she started her own pet treat business.
Hoard's site, www. GoodiesForUs. com, specializes in gourmet dog treats made in the Illinois' Amish country.
"These are healthy treats," explained Hoard. "There's no junk in them whatsoever."
GoodiesForUs. com is Hoard's second site, as her initial web venture, DoggyBeddyBye. com, is a site that features an array of comfortable dog beds.
Still, Hoard's American-made treats are gaining traction and popularity, particularly among those who wish to avoid the dangers of imported dog food.
Unlike other dog treats, the ones on GoodiesForUs. com are not only healthy, but fun. A new line of Christmas-themed treats have recently been added to the website, with more fun themes and a wider selection to come soon.
"Every time our manufacturer has a new treat, we'll put it up," Hoard said.
Additionally, Hoard has launched a new blog to accompany her nine month old web store.
"I have some recipes and I've written up some facts about the treats on my blog," Hoard said of www. DogTreatBlog. com. "I just wanted to get as much information about keeping your dogs healthy through another avenue."
Though companies have changed their screening process and there hasn't been a pet food scare since that of last year's, the event was still instrumental in aiding folks like Carol Hoard find the best quality treats for their furry family members.
