Peace Lovers of Earth invited to rename 'World's Biggest Airport'
Atlanta Global Peace Project celebrates January 1st: International One Day In Peace. Many Peace-cultivating nonprofits worldwide will participate, including Friends of Gandhi-King-Carter in Atlanta. Peace-lovers from around the Earth are now invited to sign their Global Peace Petition.

John Randolph Naugle, co-founder for the young global nonprofit: Friends of Gandhi-King-Carter, is asking peace-lovers from around the Earth to please assist with renaming "The World's Biggest & Busiest Airport" (Atlanta). At NOON, on Sunday-January 1st (“International One Day In Peace”) Mr. Naugle is inviting all the members of the media to join him in Atlanta's Woodruff Park (in front of the Phoenix Rising Sculpture) when he announces their nonprofit's goals for 2006 [January 1st is “One Day In Peace”… an internationally recognized holiday launched by 1000 organizations in almost 140 nations].
Mr. Naugle proclaims: "To honor 3 of history's most internationally accomplished, respected, and well-known Nobel Peace Prize Laureates we are inviting peace-lovers from around the Earth to sign & forward our Global Internet Peace Petition at: www. GKC-Airport. com. To further Global Peace, we need a new name at "The World's Biggest Airport" (Atlanta). PLEASE help us to honor Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King, and President Jimmy Carter. Please help us to rename The World's Biggest Airport: "Gandhi-King-Carter International Airport" (individuals from 37 states & 46 countries have already signed).
Help us honor these globally respected Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, and educate about cultivating Global Peace. January 1st begins the second-half of the very first Decade of a New Century. And this first Decade launches the New Millennium (Years 2000-3000). Therefore, we must set some courageous precedents, yes? In July 2005, Sir Bob Geldof proclaimed the importance of cultivating Global Peace VERY well on the LIVE 8 Stage before 2.5 billion viewers: "Mahatma Gandhi freed a continent, Martin Luther King freed a people, and Nelson Mandela freed a country. It does work. They will listen!"
Cultivating global peace is very important. Even today there are millions of 'cousins' from our global family that are in a considerable state of suffering. Reason? Gandhi's lesson of "Peace Is The Way" is not being taught, and Dr. King's "3-Evils" are not being adequately addressed: i. e., 1) Poverty, 2) Racism, and 3) Violence are at the root of ALL the suffering going on in the 200+ countries of the Earth. Do you need specifics of how our global family suffers today?
-- 200+ Million children are malnourished and 175+ Million do not attend school.
-- 1.5 Billion people are without clean drinking water
-- 40% of the world's population suffers serious water shortages
-- 1 Billion people are unemployed; another 750 million underemployed.
-- 800 Million have no access to health services.
-- Each successive 24-hour period - over 30,000 children in various parts of the world die of hunger and disease.
-- Nearly 1.5 Billion people live in poverty on less than $1 a day.
-- There are currently over 35 different theaters of conflict & war in various parts of the globe where our extended 'family members' or 'cousins' are intentionally or unavoidably involved in religious, political, resource, economic and/or territorial disputes.
-- In the United States alone, national statistics report that there are over 2 Million homeless children. Over 500 thousand are under the age of 15, some as young as nine years old!

Friends of Gandhi-King-Carter wants to memorialize the millions of peace-lovers of the Earth who have sacrificed to further the important cause of global peace (particularly M. Gandhi, Dr. King, and President Carter). 25 years ago (December 8, 1980) internationally respected peace-activist John Lennon was shot dead as he returned to his New York apartment from a recording session. Imagine this fact...there have been numerous peace-lovers stopped cold with bullets so that we can better understand the GREAT importance there is to cultivating peace. Mahatma Gandhi, Abe Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Dr. Martin Luther King, and others have also been shot down. Will we forget & ignore their contributions & sacrifices?
Sadly, the general tendency of the media is to stereotype 'peace organizations' as being strictly "anti-war"! The wonderful 350 year-old quote by Spinoza corrects this "stinking-thinking":

Cultivating Peace is as important as cultivating any & every other character trait or virtue. The 1997-Georgia General Assembly passed legislation that requires Georgia schools to teach character education to its 2 million students (Section 20-2-145 of the Georgia State Code states there are 27 mandated character traits that must be taught, and the official list begins with “Courage”). Friends of Gandhi-King-Carter aims to have this Georgia State Code amended to include “Peace”.
