ActiGraph, LLC was awarded the Excellence in Information Technology Leadership award for the Northwest region of Florida at IT Florida's fifth annual awards gala on October 30th in Orlando. IT Florida is a non-profit organization that supports and develops high tech businesses in Florida. The Excellence in IT Leadership Award recognizes innovative companies throughout the state that have made major contributions to Florida's burgeoning information technology landscape.
"To be honest, this award comes as a complete surprise to me" said ActiGraph president Jeff Arnett. "ActiGraph is very well established in the scientific community, but I think the development of our new ActiTrainer and our entry into the consumer marketplace have really put a spotlight on our technological achievements as well as our incredible potential for growth."
The ActiTrainer was released in April of 2007 and is the first scientifically validated personal activity monitoring device readily available to the public. The ActiTrainer, in conjunction with Polar® heart rate technology, accurately measures energy expenditure, average and maximum heart rate, pace, distance, and intensity levels. The Virtual Trainer software application allows users to upload their data for detailed activity analysis and progress tracking, and gives them access to other interactive lifestyle management tools. The ActiTrainer target audience consists of individuals looking to lose weight, improve athletic performance, and/or manage their overall health and wellness.
Since its inception in 2004, ActiGraph, LLC has served the research community in over 40 countries and has become the industry leader in actigraphy monitors. ActiGraph, LLC has recently witnessed dramatic market expansion as the applications for the science of actigraphy have grown to include not only physical activity research, but also sleep diagnostics, rehabilitation monitoring, obesity and diabetes research, sports medicine, pharmaceutical drug testing, and veterinary science.
