Local Retirement Community and City Partner to Beautify Corner of El Norte Parkway & Centre City Parkway in Escondido, CA
Las Villas del Norte Retirement Community recently entered into a long-term lease with the city of Escondido in order to cure a long time eye sore-the parcel of property on the southwest corner of El Norte & Centre City Parkways.

Las Villas del Norte Retirement Community recently entered into a long-term lease with the city of Escondido in order to cure a long time eye sore-the parcel of property on the southwest corner of El Norte & Centre City Parkways.
In October, over $50,000 in landscape improvements were completed on an 18,000 square foot dirt lot previously plagued by unauthorized tractor trailer parking and overgrown with weeds.
“We knew that the city of Escondido and the Escondido Police Department were doing all they could to police the area and this site for inappropriate parking and code violations, but it wasn’t getting any better. So we approached the city with a plan to cure the problem once and for all,” said Kevin Moriarty, Vice President of Health Care Group, the management company operating Las Villas del Norte.
The corner property, now leased by Las Villas del Norte, is complete with colorful low lying flowering shrubs and well manicured palm trees. Residents living at Las Villas del Norte now look out onto a park-like setting rather than a large dirt lot littered with trash and vehicles. Families and residents have commented on the vast improvement to the corner and their view when entering the community off of Las Villas Way.
This project is a great example of the success that can be achieved through a private-public partnership with a common goal in mind.
