JobsInVT. com Survey Shows 22% of Job Seekers in Vermont Want to Change Their Jobs Due to Lack of Career Potential
JobsInVT. com did a survey to find out why people want to change jobs in order to be able to provide some pertinent information for employers.
WESTBROOK, ME (PRWEB) December 4, 2005 –
A recent online survey conducted by JobsInVT. com asked job seekers using the site “What are the top 6 reasons why you plan to change jobs (in the next 12 months)?”
The results of the survey show a large percentage of people who don’t see enough of a future to stay in their current position.
Here are the job seekers’ reasons for leaving:
22% - Lack of potential career development in my current job 19% - I don’t feel valued as an employee 18% - I don’t feel a sense of accomplishment in my current job 15% - I want to work closer to home 13% - I am unable to maintain a healthy work/life balance 13% - I am asked to take on more responsibility without an increase in pay
What preceded JobsInVT. com’s survey was a national survey by Yahoo!, which showed that more than 40% of all workers plan on leaving their current position in the next 12 months. Drilling down on a local level, JobsInVT. com found that Vermonters’ need for career development followed the national trend – 44 percent of the Yahoo! survey takers also cited a lack of career potential as their reason for leaving.
“Eighty percent of the people coming to our site already have jobs,” JobsInTheUS. com President Matt Hoffner said. “We wanted to give this information back to the employers so that they can do something about it. The easiest thing they can do is keep their current employees.”
With new budgets starting in January, Hoffner sees a predictable increase in jobs at the start of the year and record visits to JobsInVT. com. He hopes employers will use the survey information as a tool to improve employee retention.
“I hope this helps to reduce attrition in the workforce and help employers keep their good workers as well as attract some new ones,” Hoffner said.
