Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) December 26, 2003

January 1st ushers in the New Year along with the same old resolution – to exercise and lose weight. Millions of women make the pledge, yet the yearly promise typically fades as quickly as holiday decorations. Mealsmatter. org, a non-commercial Web site sponsored by the Dairy Council of California, will launch the Nutrition Challenge on January 5th as a way to keep women motivated to meet their health goals.

The Nutrition Challenge is a web-based, four-week program that helps participants design a healthy living routine that fits their needs, works on their timetable and requires no participation fee. The Challenge does not focus on weight loss or stringent exercise, but instead on how to develop healthy habits that contribute to overall well-being. Over the four-week period, participants will work toward completing nutrition goals unique to their personal needs. Interactive tools will help participants develop realistic fitness goals, learn about key nutrients and foods special to womenÂ’s health, plan meals and discover healthier ways to prepare favorite foods.

The Nutrition Challenge starts January 5th and continues through the week of January 26th. A new nutrition topic and corresponding activities are introduced each week.

Week 1 – Getting Started - Assess nutrition and activity status and create realistic goals for change

Week 2 - Top Foods for Women – Learn what foods and nutrients are best for health

Week 3 – How to have More Time and Still Eat Healthy Meals – Discover how a little meal planning goes a long way in a busy schedule

Week 4 – Save Time, Save Money – Shop Like a Pro –Find out how to store food safely and shop efficiently

Structured to fit busy lifestyles, women can register anytime during the four weeks and complete the online activities from previous weeks. To join the Nutrition Challenge, log on to www. mealsmatter. org and complete the registration form. Those who complete all four weeks are eligible to win a $200 grocery coupon.

Meals Matter – www. mealsmatter. org – is a non-commercial website supported by the Dairy Council of California staffed by registered dietitians and dedicated to promoting healthy food choices for families.
