Cystic Fibrosis is the number one genetic killer of children and young adults. This devastating illness affects the glands that produce secretions, specifically, the lungs and digestive tract. This dehydrated, thick and sticky mucus clogs the body, allowing aggressive bacteria to flood the body, ultimately breaking down the lung tissue leading to death.

The partnership with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will produce over a quarter of a million dollars ($250,000) geared to an advanced program termed the Therapeutics Development Program. With over 20 drugs in the development pipeline, itÂ’s purpose is to pull the much needed drugs to market in order to improve the quality of lives of the tens of thousands of young children and adults fighting for their lives.

Patrick Vogt, Vice President, Hewlett-Packard Company, said, "Hewlett-Packard remains committed to supporting the Boomer Esiason Foundation in their efforts to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. We support the families of our employees -- as well as everyone -- who has to face this devastating illness every day. Events such as the BEF Classic exemplify our sincere commitment to the community and our employees."

Regional television, Cox Communications, and extensive radio coverage by Journal Broadcasting Group will be airing hundreds of public service announcements and interviews in support of this event. An elite field of sports and corporate attendees is expected to tackle both the beautiful Quarry Oaks course, as well as the battle for a cure.
