HensonFuerst Cycling Team Pedals for a Cure
Team wants to raise $10,000 to help 600,000 North Carolinians affected by diabetes in North Carolina Tour de Cure
Rocky Nount, NC (PRWEB) May 11, 2009
Led by team captain Thomas Henson Jr. (http://www. lawmed. com/thomas-henson-jr. php), the HensonFuerst Cycling Team will be riding in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure in Cary, North Carolina, on Saturday, June 6, 2009.
Henson, who also is the North Carolina Tour de Cure co-chair, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 9. "I've lived with the challenges presented by this disease for most of my life. Although diabetes is a serious disease, it should never limit what you can do with your life," said Henson, who has successfully managed his disease with diet and exercise for more than three decades. "Every mile biked during the Tour de Cure will help make a difference and improve the lives of everyone affected by this life-changing disease," he continued.
For the fourth year in a row, the HensonFuerst Cycling Team is raising funds to help support the ADA's mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. Last year, the team raised more than $7,500 during the event, and the members have set a goal to raise $10,000 this year. The team is also looking for more riders to join them in the ride, have fun, and enjoy the camaraderie of cycling.
The Tour begins at 8 a. m. at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre at Regency Park in Cary, North Carolina, and includes a 150-mile ride for dedicated cyclists in addition to shorter family routes around Cary.
