Long Beach, CA (PRWEB) September 2, 2005

Southern Californian women have a new resource to help them build balanced, healthy and happy lifestyles. The Art of Rest™ provides weekend retreats created especially for women longing to find peace and personal fulfillment even as they cope with busy schedules. Full-time mothers and corporate career women alike gain new perspective and find renewed strength as they take time out to be nourished and refreshed at an Art of Rest™ weekend.

The fall session "Time for Bliss, Passion, Adventure" is set to kick off on October 21 with special guest speaker Alison Levine, Team Captain of the first All American Women's team to reach Mt. Everest. Alison started climbing at the age of 30, just 18 months after her second heart surgery. In 2002, Alison served as the team captain of the first American Women's Everest Expedition, a history-making climb that would test her determination, endurance and judgment. "Everyone has their own personal Mt. Everest or obstacles that get in the way of achieving goals and dreams, said Levine. For me, it's about determination and the support from team members that taught me how to cope with it all." Alison's expeditions have been documented by more than 450 media outlets and she has made appearances on The Today Show, CNN, CNBC, Fox,

ABC News, CBS' Evening News, and other national programs.

Founder of The Art of Rest™, Jordan Mercedes created the Long Beach, CA based company after facing her own personal exhaustion and burnout. After 17 years in marketing and event planning for clients including Borders Books & Music and Tenet Hospitals in Southern California she understood the need for times of rest and reflection. "I looked at my colleagues and realized we were all accustomed to breakneck, overcommitted schedules dedicated to career, family, friends, volunteerism—anything and everything except

Time for ourselves."
