Students of Princess Sumaya University for Technology Enjoy a Taste of Democracy

In the midst of an atmosphere filled with the intensity of a fierce yet healthy competition 9 students were elected to represent the general assembly of the Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) Student Council for the academic year 2006 and 2007

It was the Deanship of Student Affairs at that PSUT Campus that bore witness to this university event of great magnitude, and practicing their full right to democracy, 85% of the PSUT's student body took part n the election process.

Commenting on the elections PSUT's Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Mohammed Shishani said, "The elections were carried out according to all regulations put forth by the university's administration, and I am happy to say that the whole election process was carried out calmly and according to plan. The students showed great responsibility and understanding for the democratic process, for they exercised their right to freedom of opinion in a very mature way."

The university's newly elected student council now includes Fadya Al Issa, Manar Al Takruri, Ala'a Al Fauri, Abdel Fatah Al Kayid, Rami Abu Jbara, Huthaifa Hilal, Tuma Smerat, Marwan Al Assa'ad, and last but not least Muath Uttum.

Dr. Shishani added, "I have great trust in the newly elected student council members, and I am sure that they will do a good job in spreading hope and encouragement for all university students. The student council's job is an important one for it is up to the council's members to provide students with the moral support and help they need to make their university experience a truly enriching one. I wish all the student council members the best of luck, for I have the greatest confidence in them all."
