Northeast Technical Institute Receives Employer Patriot Award for its Supportof Troops
NTI CEO/President Jim Liponis Recognized for His Support of Maine National Guard Sergeant and CDL Instructor Mike Francis.
Scarborough, ME (PRWEB) January 27, 2010
Today, CEO and President of Northeast Technical Institute (NTI) Jim Liponis was awarded the Employer Patriot Award for his contribution and support of Army National Guard Sergeant and NTI instructor Mike Francis. WGME News (www. wgme. com) was present to film the event which can be viewed on their website.
Every year, The National Committee for Employer Support of the Army National Guard conducts an awards program designed to recognize employers who support a strong National Guard and Reserve force. Employers qualify for recognition when they practice leadership and personnel policies that support employee participation in the Guard and Reserve. In 2009, NTI CDL Instructor Mike Francis (SFC, Army National Guard) nominated the owners of Northeast Technical Institute for the Employer Patriot Award.
In Mike's recommendation letter to the committee, he wrote, "While NTI is a small company, they have forever been, and continue to be extremely supportive of their employees serving in the military. I have been employed with NTI since 2001 as a Commercial Driving Instructor. I have served two tours of duty in Iraq, 2004-2005 and 2006-2007 with my next scheduled deployment in March of 2010. During my tour-of-duties, NTI has not only maintained my position, but have been incredibly generous with extra pay, bonuses, and most importantly the continuance of my family's healthcare benefits."
"It was a terrific honor to receive the patriot employer award", said Jim Liponis. "Having not served in the military, I feel it is important to show appreciation for the sacrifice made each day by our military personnel and to encourage those that have the desire to serve. Mike Francis has been an outstanding employee for many years and is a very valuable member of our operation. I have no doubt that he plays an important role in his reserve unit and although it is difficult to lose him when he's dispatched overseas, it is for the highest cause. It is important that while he is serving overseas, he can focus on the job at hand and not worry about his job here at home. It is a pleasure to have Mike here at NTI and it is personally satisfying to me knowing he is part of a unit serving to protect our freedom."
