Alltech – Muhammad Ali Center Global Education and Charitable Fund Launches Cell Phone Recycling Program
The Alltech-Muhammad Ali Center Global Education and Charitable Fund recently launched a cell phone recycling program. The program was created to allow individuals to give the gift of affordable communication to others in third world countries where having a new phone is a luxury. Proceeds from the sale of the phones will go to the Fund which raises money to support a range of educational and humanitarian initiatives around the world.

President and founder of Alltech (http://www. alltech. com/en_US/Pages/Default. aspx), Dr. Pearse Lyons spoke of the program, “by focusing on education and providing humanitarian aid to those in need, we can help address many of the world’s challenges.”

On November 23rd, USA Today published a Sports Weekly Special Edition featuring Muhammad Ali and includes in the supplement, a postage paid envelope to be used for the cell phone recycling program. Individuals can use this envelope and mail their old cell phones to Alltech where the phones will be reset and wiped clean of their memory. Phones are then refurbished and sold to people in third world countries. The phones that aren’t used are broken down to their individual components and recycled.
