Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection has received a $250,000 grant from the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation to support a nine-month effort to develop a business plan.

The plan will lay out how the Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection can effectively expand services and improve the quality of its programs.

Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection was selected to receive support for business planning after a comprehensive review of the organization, including the quality of its programs, depth of leadership, financial strength, commitment to using data to assess its programs and make ongoing improvements, and a desire to grow larger. After Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection completes its plan, the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation will review it and decide whether to make a second grant to help the organization implement it.

The New York City-based Edna McConnell Clark Foundation makes grants to help nonprofit organizations that work with youth from low-income backgrounds strengthen their operations and expand their programs to better serve a larger number of young people.

“The potential impact our relationship with the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation could have within this community is tremendous,” says Annette Gantt, executive director of Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection.

“More importantly, it will take continued strong collaboration with community stakeholders to realize success fully.”

Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection is an affiliate of Hillside Family of Agencies, a family and children services organization that provides child welfare, mental health, youth development, juvenile justice, special education, and developmental disabilities services across Central and Western New York.

Hillside Family of Agencies is also comprised of affiliates Crestwood Children’s Center, Crestwood Children’s Foundation, Hillside Children’s Center, Hillside Children’s Foundation, and Snell Farm Children’s Center.
