Janam Technologies LLC, a provider of rugged mobile computers that scan barcodes and communicate wirelessly, today announced a strategic alliance with Summit Data Communications, the leading provider of wireless LAN radio modules and cards for business-critical mobile devices. Summit's embedded Wi-Fi® solutions enable Janam's mobile devices to establish secure and reliable wireless network connections in the most challenging operating environments.

"Janam is committed to delivering superior quality and performance to customers with mission-critical operations, and wireless LAN functionality is a vital component of most data capture solutions," said Harry B. Lerner, CEO of Janam. "Summit's Wi-Fi solutions are an ideal fit with our product requirements because they offer reliable wireless network connectivity, excellent security and superb Wi-Fi administration."

A key differentiator for Summit solutions is support for Cisco Compatible Extensions, or CCX. All Summit embedded Wi-Fi solutions are certified for Version 4 of CCX, the highest level of Cisco compatibility for business-critical mobile devices. Janam has enrolled in the CCX program and plans to achieve CCX V4 compliance on its XG100 gun-shaped mobile computer.

In addition to being certified for CCX V4, Summit Wi-Fi solutions support all key industry standards, including the top industry standard for Wi-Fi security, known as the Enterprise version of Wi-Fi Protected Access™ 2, or WPA2-Enterprise.

"With Summit Wi-Fi inside, Janam computers support WPA2-Enterprise with a broad range of options, including all popular authentication types," said Ron Seide, Summit's president. "It is easy to configure Janam computers for even the most secure networks, including those that are compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) or the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)."
