Cincom Founding Partner in High-Tech EPC-RFID Research Center

Cincom to provide usage of its most advanced database management system, Cincom TIGER.

(PRWEB) December 6, 2003

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Dec 4, 2003 - Cincom Systems, Inc., a pioneer and leader in the software industry, joined forces in a collaborative effort with higher education institutions, public and non-profit companies to help win an $11 million dollar grant from the State of Ohio for a high tech collaborative research center.

The center, named The Wright Center of Innovation Advanced Data Management and Analysis (WCOI ADMA) is a high-tech, collaborative research and development center focusing on EPC-RFID (Electronic Product Code – Radio Frequency Identification) application commercialization and standards compliance.

Replacing the Bar Code With EPC-RFID

According to Cincom CEO Tom Nies, the longest-serving CEO in the computer industry, once hailed by former President Ronald Reagan as "the epitome of the entrepreneurial spirit of American business, “The emerging commercialization and widespread rollout of EPC and other associated auto-iD technologies is a tangible example of the need for the standards-based commercialization activities that will be the focus of the WCOI ADMA. Virtually every manufacturer on a national or global-scale supply chain manages its operations through the use of ERP. These companies will experience dramatic changes to their enterprise computing systems and data management needs with the conversion from bar codes to EPC in the coming few years. This transformation will provide significant opportunities for new product creation and innovation by companies and entrepreneurs resulting in job creation and economic growth.”

The objectives of the WCOI-ADMA are:

· Establish a world-class research center for advanced data management and analysis

· Create 500 new jobs in the next 3 years

· Create a real-world commercialization environment to accelerate products into the market

· Develop and operate a global performance testing center for ePC (Electronic Product Code)

Cincom will contribute to the mission of the WCOI ADMA by providing advanced database management and access capabilities to serve and assist the Center. In addition, Cincom will provide access to research, personnel, and software usage of its most advanced database management system, Cincom TIGER, for three years.

Founding partners of the WCOI-ADMA include; Cincom, NCR, Proctor & Gamble, LexisNexis, Standard Register, Intelliseek, EDS, Reynolds & Reynolds, Cincinnati Bell, Wright State, Wright Brothers Institute, Uniform Code Council (UCC), University of Dayton, & MIT Auto-Id Labs.
