$17.7M Laboratory Information Systems Pact

Enterprise-wide laboratory solution includes clinical alerts, and decision support

Tucson, Arizona, February 12, 2002 – Misys Healthcare Systems, a market leader in healthcare IT announced today that it recently signed, under its former name, Sunquest Information Systems, Inc., a significant laboratory information systems procurement agreement with Los Angeles County for the Department of Health Services (DHS), based in Los Angeles, California. The agreement, with an initial value of $17.7M, includes deployment of Healthcare Systems' industry-leading Misys Laboratory™ information system, along with Misys Clinical Event Manager™, a clinical alert and decision support system, Misys Encompass™, a web-based clinical information access tool, and the CoPathPlus® anatomic pathology system.

Under the agreement, Misys Healthcare Systems and DHS will together implement these systems for the six major hospitals and the Public Health Laboratory that comprise the DHS integrated delivery network (IDN). This will create a single, streamlined enterprise-wide laboratory/anatomic pathology information system and comprehensive clinical alerting system.

"A critical goal of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services is to implement a highly scalable, enterprise-wide laboratory, anatomic pathology, and clinical alerting system in order to standardize workflow, increase efficiencies and enhance healthcare services for our patients across all seven DHS sites," said Fred Leaf, Acting Director of Health Services for DHS.

"We are pleased the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services chose Sunquest, which is now a key operation within Misys Healthcare Systems, as their enterprise-wide clinical information systems provider," said Tom Skelton, Chief Executive Officer of Misys Healthcare Systems. "Our people fully understand DHS' critical goals, business requirements, workflow and caregiver information needs. We are committed to doing our job---ensuring that DHS achieves their goals by delivering to them a broad reaching, laboratory information system that enables DHS caregivers to focus on patient care—not their information systems.
