Premiere Body Sculpting Diva Finds Cure For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Premiere Body Sculpting Diva Finds Cure For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

The National Center for Infectious Disease defines chronic fatigue syndrome, or CFS, as a debilitating and complex disorder characterized by profound fatigue that is not improved by bed rest and that may be worsened by physical or mental activity. Persons with CFS most often function at a substantially lower level of activity than they were capable of before the onset of illness.

(PRWEB) August 30, 2003

August, 2003 -- As a personal trainer, Angela Ursprung has struggled with this disorder for years-since she was a school girl. As a result she has always described herself as being like a cheetahÂ…she can run hard and fast, but only for a very short distance and then she absolutely has to lay down and rest.

In addition to these key defining characteristics, patients report various nonspecific symptoms, including weakness, muscle pain, impaired memory and/or mental concentration, insomnia, and post-exertional fatigue lasting more than 24 hours. In some cases, CFS can persist for years. The cause or causes of CFS have not been identified and no specific diagnostic tests are available. Moreover, since many illnesses have incapacitating fatigue as a symptom, care must be taken to exclude other known and often treatable conditions before a diagnosis of CFS is made.

How has it affected her? During her high school years she was sent to the principal's office because she repeatedly fell asleep in class. During her college years, when her friends were out at parties, she stayed home because she lacked the necessary energy to keep up with them. During her corporate years she would basically do nothing but sleep and work. And during her fitness years, she would drink enough coffee in the morning to get properly fueled for her early sessions, then lay down all afternoon and drink coffee again to get enough energy to sustain her during her evening sessions. She was able to hide the condition until just recently.

Just this year the problem grew worse and was beginning to totally incapacitate her. Her energy fell so low that she just about stayed in a reclined position all weekend and most of the time (when she wasn't with clients), and as popular nutrition would dictate, she kept determining that since her iron levels were high and all other medical indications were positive, she must not be eating enough carbohydrates. So she ate more grains, but for the first time in her life she started to see a pattern. She would become completely listless right after every sandwich that she ate.

In asking her peers what they thought, she was directed to the book, "The Metabolic Typing Diet" by William Wolcott and Trish Fahey. The book asksÂ

Do you suffer with low energy, digestive problems, allergies, low blood sugar, poor concentration, mood swings, hormonal imbalances, high blood pressure, or other chronic ailments? Have you tried lots of diets with limited success? Are you confused by all the contradictory advice of nutrition experts? If your answer is "yes" to any of these questions, here's what you need to know: the real secret of health and fitness is customized nutrition.

Today's diet books are virtually all based on a standardized or mass market approach to health and nutrition. In other words, they offer single, one-size-fits-all dietary solutions. But this approach has proven to be very limited -- it's the reason diets don't work for most people.

Nutrition's best kept secret is simply this: what works for one person may have no effect on another person, and may make a third person worse. Here's another way of describing this same principle: any food or nutrient can have virtually opposite biochemical influences in different people.

In other words, the very same foods that will keep you energized, healthy and slim can cause someone else to be overweight, fatigued and unhealthy! Why? Simply because your metabolism is very unique!

Ursprung's experience was that the healthier she ate--the closer she ate according to the Food Guide Pyramid, the more disabled she became, so she decided to give it a try. She bought the book and took the 15 minute test which indicated that she was a "protein" type. In short, it suggested that grains would impair her and that she needed a much higher level of dietary fat and darker varieties of meat than most other people--all advice that goes against the mainstream nutritional guidelines, but she was desperate so she gave it a try. In addition her fiancé took the test and he was classified as a "carbo" type, which means he needs less fat, white cuts of meat and lots of grains, fruits and vegetables. They laugh because he had to give her his meatballs and pesto sauce and she turned over her chicken breast and tilapia to him.

What happened? Within 2-3 days her blood sugar normalized (she knows because she bought a blood sugar testing unit to verify it), she began sleeping all the way through the night, her constantly nagging appetite quieted itself and she has so much energy now that she literally bubbles over all day long. Her fatigue is gone and she feels like a new person.

Meanwhile, many others whom she has told about the book have taken the test and have changed their diets and they, too, are experiencing similar results--rapid weight loss, loss of fatigue, increased energy, deeper sleep, and more!

General Data Introduces Personal ID™ FoamWrap Wristbands

General Data Introduces Personal ID™ FoamWrap Wristbands

Personal ID FoamWrap wristbands feature unique foam wristband and direct thermal label; provide safe and durable patient identification solution for infants and the elderly.

CINCINNATI (PRWEB) December 20, 2005

General Data Company, a leading provider of specialized labeling and identification products and solutions, today introduced the Personal ID™ FoamWrap wristband. This new patient identification wristband, designed for infants, elderly and patients with sensitive skin, is comprised of a unique hypoallergenic and latex-free foam wristband and direct thermal label combination. The Personal ID™ FoamWrap wristband allows hospitals to utilize high-resolution text, bar codes and patient photos for positive identification of patients with frail, delicate or sensitive skin.

Personal ID FoamWrap patient identification wristbands can help extend a healthcare provider’s barcode-based patient identification capabilities by providing patient-friendly solutions for neonatal, infant, pediatric and elderly patients. Patient information, including text, barcodes and patient photos, is printed on the high-resolution direct thermal pressure-sensitive label. The foam wristband is then placed around the patient’s wrist or ankle, and the label is attached to the wristband. Personal ID FoamWrap wristbands are intended for short-term or outpatient use.

“Our FoamWrap wristbands are ideal replacements for ordinary patient identification wristbands that can irritate or damage a patient’s skin, particularly newborns, infants, elderly, or pediatrics,” said Peter Wenzel, president of General Data. “We work with several hospitals that have been searching for an effective patient ID solution for infants, children and elderly patients that would not damage or irritate their frail or sensitive skin. The FoamWrap wristband is a direct result of feedback from these hospitals. These new wristbands ensure that hospitals can use the latest barcode patient identification technology for these ‘special needs’ patients without sacrificing quality, convenience or comfort. The Personal ID FoamWrap wristbands are easy to apply for healthcare workers and safe for all patients.”

Personal ID FoamWrap wristbands are available in two versions; a “hook-and-loop” closure and an adhesive closure. The “hook-and-loop” closure is attached to the wristband, and is primarily used for infants and neonatal patients. This wristband can be removed and re-attached during medication administration or bathing without damaging the wristband. The adhesive version, ideal for small children and elderly patients, uses a unique wraparound pressure-sensitive label that adheres to the outside of the foam wristband and then to itself for secure closure.

“Barcode-based patient identification systems using Personal ID wristbands have been proven to dramatically improve patient safety and reduce errors in medication administration, transfusions, specimen collection, point-of-care testing and patient charging,” added Wenzel. “We have been able to quickly respond to the needs of our customers with a growing line of Personal ID solutions. Our wristbands have been rigorously tested in multiple healthcare environments, and they continue to be the most durable and effective bands on the market.”

Study Links Wellness Programs to Innovation, Creativity

Study Links Wellness Programs to Innovation, Creativity

Organizations that promote employee health and well-being are 3 1/2 times more likely to encourage creativity and innovation -- key to meeting new needs and making the most of new opportunities.

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) February 25, 2010

Organizations that promote employee health and well-being are 3½ times more likely to encourage creativity and innovation, according to research by Right Management released at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Right Management (http://www. right. com) is the talent and career management expert within Manpower (http://www. manpower. com), the global leader in employment services.

"We found fewer than half of the more than 28,000 employees who participated in our worldwide study reported that their organizations actively promote health and wellness," said Deborah Schroeder-Saulnier, Senior Vice President for Global Solutions at Right Management. "Yet we now have persuasive evidence linking health and well-being (http://www. right. com/capabilities/employee-engagement/default. aspx) to greater employee engagement, organizational productivity, talent retention and – of utmost importance in today's post-recession economy – creativity and innovation."

Seventy-two percent of respondents who rated their organization highly for actively promoting health and well-being also rated it highly for encouraging creativity and innovation. Among those who did not rate their organization's healthy and well-being efforts highly, only 20% took a favorable view of their organization's encouragement of creativity and innovation.

Schroeder-Saulnier cites the top drivers for promoting health and well-being at work:

--"I work in a safe and healthy environment."
--"My organization allows me to maintain a reasonable balance between my family and work life."
--"You can balance work and personal interests at my organization and still progress."
--"I have an appropriate workload."
--"The amount of pressure I experience in my role is reasonable."

"Of all the individual actions an organization could take, these five would do the most to improve the well-being of employees," said Schroeder-Saulnier.

"In swiftly changing markets, creativity and innovation provide organizations with the agility to meet new needs and make the most of new opportunities," advised Schroeder-Saulnier. "The true potential of wellness initiatives can only be realized when wellness is embedded within the organization's core business strategy. Leaders and human resource professionals would do well to implement wellness initiatives that focus more precisely on yielding results that drive individual behaviors essential to improving the effectiveness of the entire organization."

Right Management surveyed 28,810 employees across 10 industries in 15 countries. Participants were asked to self-report on attitudes, performance and conditions directly related to the effectiveness of their organization.

Executive Health Exams International and the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition Join Forces to Educate the Public About Ovarian Cancer

In recognition of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, Executive Health Exams International, the leader in preventive healthcare, is proud to support the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition in its efforts to increase public awareness of ovarian cancer through the donation of its 115 square foot display window at 10 Rockefeller Plaza for the month of September.

(PRWEB) September 11, 2004

In recognition of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, Executive Health Exams International, the leader in preventive healthcare, is proud to support the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition in its efforts to increase public awareness of ovarian cancer through the donation of its 115 square foot display window at 10 Rockefeller Plaza for the month of September. It is estimated that in 2004 there will be 25,530 new cases and 16,090 deaths from ovarian cancer.*

“When people think of female-specific cancer, the first thought is always of breast cancer. But ovarian cancer is just as important to be aware of and is often much more deadly because symptoms are often so vague in the early stages of the disease,” said Deborah McKeever, president of Executive Health Exams. “EHE is proud to assist the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition in its effort to educate individuals about the seriousness of this disease. I hope that everyone who passes through Rockefeller Center will take the time to stop and learn from this truly poignant display.”

Delicate Cherry Blossoms are the backdrop for the disturbing phrase “Ovarian Cancer Kills” on The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition’s powerful window display. According to Maria Ciesla, president, National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, “such a stark contrast of images and words calls forth the notion that regardless of a woman’s seemingly healthy exterior, it is important to know about the subtle, yet persistent symptoms of the disease. By informing women of the necessity for early detection, we will save lives.” The window display also highlights various risk factors, symptoms, and facts about ovarian cancer as well as where individuals can find additional information about the topic.

“We are very proud to be able to promote ovarian cancer awareness and education to such a large audience,” says Ms. Ciesla. “With over 25,000 woman affected each year, it is important that the public is informed about the disease. One glance at the window can make a difference.”

Parsippany, NJ (PRWEB) April 30, 2007

Work & Family Benefits, Inc. (WFB), the nation's largest provider of dependent care resources and referral services to employer clients, today announces a partnership with Triveris, a leading health plan designer and health compliance management company, to provide companies and TPAs with a solution that delivers targeted work/life resources and preventive care information to individual plan members. The solution incorporates WFB's telephonic and web-based work/life resources with real-time clinical data from Triveris, promoting a compliance-based approach to managing healthcare.

The solution will leverage Triveris' rigorous data collection and analysis process to identify opportunities for individual members to optimize their health status. By improving individual health, and promoting proactive healthcare, organizations can reduce their clients' healthcare expenditures. The system allows plan administrators to identify individuals who are potentially large claimants at an earlier stage and provide them with customized care management strategies, including member-specific preventive care and wellness programs. Condition-specific information and resources will be delivered directly to individual members through the program. This approach, which integrates medical data and claims analysis with preventive care information, facilitates an appropriate plan of care that promotes member participation and patient advocacy. A preventive approach leads to improved employee health that, in turn, leads to lower claims and healthcare costs.

"This new model presents an exciting opportunity for plan administrators of all sizes with a valuable, easy to implement, and cost-effective approach for managing healthcare costs," says Bill Mulcahy, founder and president of Work and Family Benefits. "We are pleased to be working hand-in-hand with Triveris to add our work/life resources and telephonic support to a platform that will certainly change the paradigm of how employers approach the challenge of holding the line on healthcare costs."

"The compliance-based model, which encourages preventive care, has proven to be effective in motivating employees to take proactive steps that reduce potential heath risks," says Dr. Stephen Kardos, founder and CEO of Triveris. "Our partnership with WFB not only reinforces this model, but also brings it to a new level. We can now seamlessly integrate our clinical data analysis with a TPA's existing administrative system to form a robust platform that will deliver relevant work/life information straight to the employee's desktop. We also can provide a complete administrative platform, incorporating all conceivable TPA functions and industry-leading medical management capabilities into one database. Clearly, this is an added value for any TPA looking for an effective and efficient solution that will benefit client companies and their employees."

Healthy Digestion

Healthy Digestion

Enzymes and nutrition makes a healthy digestion system and transforms food into energy for the body to use. The body needed a content flow of nutrients, to grow, generate energy, and to repair tissue.

Mason, TN (PRWEB) December 3, 2005

Having a healthy digestion system is more than being free of discomforts, heartburn, gas, and constipation. When foods are not digested thoroughly, nutrients cannot get to the cell. Nutrients are captured as food passes through the digestive system. The body needs a constant flow of nutrients, to grow, generate energy, and to repair tissue.

A lack of digestive enzymes in the stomach and intestines causes heartburn, indigestion, bloating, gas, and constipation. It would be beneficial to take a digestive enzyme to help to eliminate these symptoms.

Without giving much thought to digestion, one thinks: food is placed into the mouth, chew, swallow, and digestion, not so. Nutrients are vital to every cell in the body, with the right mixture of nutrients, the nerves signal the digestion to take place. Making the right food and supplement choices, exercising, and taking herbal extracts, support the digestive system. Enzymes and nutrition makes a healthy digestion system and transforms food into energy for the body to use.

The body will function properly when it is given what is needed; it has 1,300 different enzymes that cause the body to function disease free. Most people are void of the proper nutrients and enzymes, thereby causing diseases. The body has healing powers, when given the right fuel it will respond quickly. An organic whole food supplement has many nutrients working synergistically making the nutrients more available and effective.

Not only does the body need supplements, but also more importantly, it needs a non-chemically manufactured supplement because the body does not recognize chemically manufactured supplements. These vitamins and minerals are extracted separately, are recognized as isolated nutrients, and cannot possible compare to organic supplements.

Vitamins may come from a natural source, but often times, because of processing, it is not natural. Perhaps this is why many scientists and doctors say taking a large quantity of vitamin supplements only pass through the body producing expensive urine.

The key is to think organic, what the body recognizes and will absorb. Whole organic food supplement contain nutrients, living enzymes and life force energy.

Play it Straight with Swine Flu, AA Travel Insurance Advises

Play it Straight with Swine Flu, AA Travel Insurance Advises

Even though some countries are screening visitors and some airlines are reported to be refusing travellers with symptoms similar to flu to board planes, travel insurers are treating swine flu as they would with any other medical condition.

Basingstoke, UK (PRWEB) August 1, 2009

A quarter of all calls to AA Travel Insurance are now enquiries from travellers concerned about whether they are covered if they contract swine flu while they are away, the insurer has revealed.

But despite fears about the pandemic, the AA advises concerned holidaymakers to approach their vacation in the same way as normal.

Although some countries are screening visitors and some airlines are reported to be refusing travellers with flu-like symptoms to board planes, travel insurers are treating swine flu as they would with any other medical condition.

The simple assumption is that holidaymakers who feel too ill to travel must seek treatment. Those who do go on to develop swine flu and are stopped from boarding a plane or are quarantined on arrival at their destination, are covered by travel insurance, providing the policy wasn't taken out after the illness manifested itself. In both cases the illness must be diagnosed by a doctor or the national NHS helpline to be able to claim. If a traveller is prevented from flying and they don't have the disease, they should claim compensation from the airline.

Holidaymakers who feel poorly on the day of travel or have difficulty visiting a doctor to confirm their illness should be able to contact their insurance company's 24-hour helpline for advice, as is the case with AA Travel Insurance. A diagnosis from the national NHS Swine Flu helpline would be recognised.

"Case by case, we are treating swine flu the same way we would any severe illness while on holiday. An insurer has to work on the basis that a family will not jeopardise the health of a severely-ill member by embarking on a major trip, nor will they intentionally go abroad to spend a week in the unfamiliar surroundings of a foreign hospital or quarantine accommodation," says Christian Young, director of AA Travel Insurance.

"If a traveller is beginning to feel under the weather, as often happens, we would think it natural that they may continue to travel in the hope that their discomfort is temporary. If an airline says they can't board or an airport scanner picks up that they have swine flu, holidaymakers would then need their diagnosis confirmed by a medical practitioner and the condition would be covered by their insurance."

AA Travel Insurance questions and answers on swine flu:
Does your travel insurance policy cover you for swine flu? How many insurers offer this cover?
Most travel insurance policies will cover diseases as standard, and swine flu is no exception. As long as you took out the policy before contracting the disease your will be protected against having to cancel your holiday, medical costs and any additional accommodation you may require as a result of having to stay abroad until you have recovered.

If you are travelling within the EU make sure you have your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). This is free and entitles you to the same medical treatment as that received by the locals of the country you are visiting. However, the EHIC is not a substitute for travel insurance but instead complements it. Travel insurance provides cover for the costs of having to reschedule flights or extend your visit to allow you to recover, however you must contact the 24 hr worldwide emergency assistance company.

What cover is offered by your private medical insurance? And how many insurers offer this cover?
Private medical insurance will only ensure you receive treatment in the UK, unless you take out an international policy, but this is really only necessary if you are a UK national that lives or works abroad. However, private medical insurance will not cover other associated costs, such as extending your stay or having to cancel or delay flights - you'll need travel insurance for this.

What happens if you contract the disease prior to travel?
If you have taken out a travel insurance policy, and then contract swine flu, your travel insurance provider will cover you against the costs of having to cancel your holiday. However, your insurance provider will require a doctor's note to confirm that you have swine flu so make sure you contact your GP if you believe that you are showing symptoms. If you cannot see a GP or a medical practitioner, you will be required to supply the unique ID number generated by the National Pandemic Flu Service, together with the original label on your anti-flu drugs (This will confirm your name & date of issue) as proof of diagnosis to validate the claim.

What happens if you contract the disease while you are overseas?
Your insurance provider will cover the relevant medical expenses associated with treatment for swine flu while you are on holiday. If you need to remain abroad until you recover which is a precaution that is advised by the British Government; you will be covered for cancelled or rescheduled flights and the cost of additional accommodation provided you have contacted and had agreement from the 24 hour worldwide emergency assistance company otherwise your extended stay and claim may not be valid. Make sure you buy a policy that will provide the appropriate protection - if you couldn't cope with the financial costs of something occurring, check that it is covered.

Would your travel insurance or PMI policy cover you for treatment overseas or if you needed to be repatriated?
Travel insurance would cover treatment overseas and the costs of repatriation once you've recovered. As the Government recommends that you remain in situ until you have recovered, you would probably not be repatriated until all symptoms of swine flu have cleared but again, you must contact and have agreement from the 24 hour medical emergency assistance company.
