Premiere Body Sculpting Diva Finds Cure For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Premiere Body Sculpting Diva Finds Cure For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

The National Center for Infectious Disease defines chronic fatigue syndrome, or CFS, as a debilitating and complex disorder characterized by profound fatigue that is not improved by bed rest and that may be worsened by physical or mental activity. Persons with CFS most often function at a substantially lower level of activity than they were capable of before the onset of illness.

August, 2003 -- As a personal trainer, Angela Ursprung has struggled with this disorder for years-since she was a school girl. As a result she has always described herself as being like a cheetahÂ…she can run hard and fast, but only for a very short distance and then she absolutely has to lay down and rest.

In addition to these key defining characteristics, patients report various nonspecific symptoms, including weakness, muscle pain, impaired memory and/or mental concentration, insomnia, and post-exertional fatigue lasting more than 24 hours. In some cases, CFS can persist for years. The cause or causes of CFS have not been identified and no specific diagnostic tests are available. Moreover, since many illnesses have incapacitating fatigue as a symptom, care must be taken to exclude other known and often treatable conditions before a diagnosis of CFS is made.

How has it affected her? During her high school years she was sent to the principal's office because she repeatedly fell asleep in class. During her college years, when her friends were out at parties, she stayed home because she lacked the necessary energy to keep up with them. During her corporate years she would basically do nothing but sleep and work. And during her fitness years, she would drink enough coffee in the morning to get properly fueled for her early sessions, then lay down all afternoon and drink coffee again to get enough energy to sustain her during her evening sessions. She was able to hide the condition until just recently.

Just this year the problem grew worse and was beginning to totally incapacitate her. Her energy fell so low that she just about stayed in a reclined position all weekend and most of the time (when she wasn't with clients), and as popular nutrition would dictate, she kept determining that since her iron levels were high and all other medical indications were positive, she must not be eating enough carbohydrates. So she ate more grains, but for the first time in her life she started to see a pattern. She would become completely listless right after every sandwich that she ate.

In asking her peers what they thought, she was directed to the book, "The Metabolic Typing Diet" by William Wolcott and Trish Fahey. The book asksÂ

Do you suffer with low energy, digestive problems, allergies, low blood sugar, poor concentration, mood swings, hormonal imbalances, high blood pressure, or other chronic ailments? Have you tried lots of diets with limited success? Are you confused by all the contradictory advice of nutrition experts? If your answer is "yes" to any of these questions, here's what you need to know: the real secret of health and fitness is customized nutrition.

Today's diet books are virtually all based on a standardized or mass market approach to health and nutrition. In other words, they offer single, one-size-fits-all dietary solutions. But this approach has proven to be very limited -- it's the reason diets don't work for most people.

Nutrition's best kept secret is simply this: what works for one person may have no effect on another person, and may make a third person worse. Here's another way of describing this same principle: any food or nutrient can have virtually opposite biochemical influences in different people.

In other words, the very same foods that will keep you energized, healthy and slim can cause someone else to be overweight, fatigued and unhealthy! Why? Simply because your metabolism is very unique!

Ursprung's experience was that the healthier she ate--the closer she ate according to the Food Guide Pyramid, the more disabled she became, so she decided to give it a try. She bought the book and took the 15 minute test which indicated that she was a "protein" type. In short, it suggested that grains would impair her and that she needed a much higher level of dietary fat and darker varieties of meat than most other people--all advice that goes against the mainstream nutritional guidelines, but she was desperate so she gave it a try. In addition her fiancé took the test and he was classified as a "carbo" type, which means he needs less fat, white cuts of meat and lots of grains, fruits and vegetables. They laugh because he had to give her his meatballs and pesto sauce and she turned over her chicken breast and tilapia to him.

What happened? Within 2-3 days her blood sugar normalized (she knows because she bought a blood sugar testing unit to verify it), she began sleeping all the way through the night, her constantly nagging appetite quieted itself and she has so much energy now that she literally bubbles over all day long. Her fatigue is gone and she feels like a new person.

Meanwhile, many others whom she has told about the book have taken the test and have changed their diets and they, too, are experiencing similar results--rapid weight loss, loss of fatigue, increased energy, deeper sleep, and more!
