The Peoples Mandate Party of Nigeria announced today the formal kick-off of the campaign of its 2010 Gubernatorial candidate for Anambra State, Dr. Eugene Ezekwueche.

Awka, Nigeria (PRWEB) November 18, 2009

The Peoples Mandate Party of Nigeria announced today the formal kick-off of the campaign of its 2010 Gubernatorial candidate for Anambra State, Dr. Eugene Ezekwueche.

"Our party, the PMP is the only Party not built around the status quo but formed by leaders of the Pro-Democracy movement, with solid record, consistency, conviction, sincerity of purpose, equity and fairness, people empowerment, selfless and dedicated to achieve a better Nigeria and a more just society. PMP agenda is focused on family, relentless defense of their assets, life and liberty from the oppressive elite" notes Dr. Eugene Ezekwueche, PMP 2010 Gubernatorial candidate for Anambra.

"Anambra State has been violated and abused by corrupt and insensitive leadership for too long and is overdue for visionary and people oriented leadership to restore the glory and harness the immense potentials of the State" stated Dr. Eugene Ezekwueche, PMP Candidate for Governor, Anambra State.

Dr. Ezekwueche continued, "The immediate and long term agenda, facing the present generation is the task of rebuilding the State in all facets, a process whereby all, particularly children, women and the poor, will have access to quality health care, decent shelter, affordable education, adequate material means, equity, justice and ennobled citizenship".

He queried "Where has all our national wealth gone to, given the sordid nature of our public infrastructures and social utilities; the poverty, ignorance and disease devastating our people; mass unemployment and dysfunctional economic system; the reduction of Anambra from an intellectual, commerce and agriculture power house to a frail, irrelevant corruption crippled State"?

Various Nigerian newspapers including the Guardian, Punch, Vanguard, the Sun, Champion and Daily Independent have carried articles on the sorry state of the politics and disarray in Anambra State.

Dr. Ezekwueche insists that all stake holders must now without further delay lay the solid foundation for sustainable reconstruction, renewal and restructuring in all facets of life in Anambra State. To those who care about our State, the facts are embarrassing and unacceptable.

Dr. Ezekwueche also states that the Peoples Mandate Party cannot catalogue all the afflictions of Anambra State. To do that will make us sad indeed. Nevertheless, asl stake holders we cannot afford to bury our heads in the sand, like the ostrich and pretend that all is well. There are nothing but woes and squandered possibilities everywhere you look.

Few people can rationalize the systematic degeneration of our ideal as proud, hard working people with a sense of decency and values.

The Peoples Mandate Party is wondering - where are all the titled and principled leaders in our state, the various age grades, the women's organizations, the church leadership that are responsible for providing moral guidance, the youth whose future is at stake? Our ancestors must be turning in their graves!

The Peoples Mandate Party is committed to rebuilding Anambra State and reminds all that "Life is not all about money but service to the people and that everyone will be held accountable for their deeds sooner or later".

Why would a PMP administration in Anambra State be different?

Dr. Ezekwueche has promised that if elected by the people of Anambra State to serve as Governor of the State he and everyone appointed to serve with him will:
Serve only one term - so they will focus on developing Anambra State instead of the usual planning for "re-election" by the Governor. Be treated as contractors (elected to improve the affairs and infrastructure of the State), who should only get paid for work accomplished. Only receive one Naira a month as salary, with the balance put in escrow, and be paid against well defined accomplished benchmarks. No elected or appointed official should be compensated for job not done. Restore security to the state primarily through massive job creation so unemployed youth will have meaning employment. Urgently tackle the erosion problem in various parts of the state as well increase the awareness for environmental protection in the state. *Not travel outside Nigeria [except for very critical missions] while in office so they can focus on developing Anambra State.
Not seek medical treatment abroad. Instead will be treated at a local hospital if in need of health care. Pledge to attract investors to build within 30 months of taking office a solar powered ultra modern full service Hospital and solar powered ultra modern Pharmaceutical plant] in Anambra State so all Nigerians including those that currently travel abroad for medical treatment can come to Anambra state for standard and specialized treatment. Ensure the continued stability of the PMP and focus on the work required to rebuild Anambra State.

It is time for action - Doing Nothing is Not Option!
