Dr. Randolph C. Robinson will be speaking at the Grand Rounds at the Sky Ridge Medical Center in August, 2006. He will be presenting “Orthognathic Surgery and Correction of Facial Deformities and Clefting” and discuss his research and findings in the area of orthognathic surgery.
Dr. Robinson is an expert in reconstructive surgery of the face caused by skeletal growth problems, as well as craniofacial syndromes and cleft palate. Many children with facial deformities require orthodontic treatment in order to align the teeth in the bones. Follow up skeletal surgery allows the doctor to place those bones into the correct position, which ultimately will improve dentition and facial proportions.
Facial appearance is very important in communication and interaction in society. Children with facial deformities are often handicapped in their ability to speak, eat, and be accepted socially.
