Design Scheme Interiors Transforms Home for "Design on a Budget" TV Show

The "dynamic duo" from Design Scheme Interiors transformed a home in Gaithersburg, MD, for under $5,000. Their design was featured on WUSA-TV in Washington, D. C.

Washington, D. C. (PRWEB) October 15, 2008

Sherry Burton-Ways and Susan Featherstone-Schemm of Design Scheme Interiors, LLC, were featured in a special segment of "Design on a Budget" (http://www. wusa9.com/news/local/story. aspx? storyid=76780&catid=158&provider=email) on Washington's WUSA Channel 9 Thursday, October 2.

The segment was presented by WUSA's Anchor Lesli, Foster, head of the station's Consumer Unit. She featured the results of a two-month project during which the two designers transformed Vikki Robertson's home in Gaithersburg, Maryland, into "the place she always wanted." They worked the transformation on a budget of less than $5,000.

"She spent a little and got a lot, the home of her dreams," said Foster. "It's beautiful; really, it is! You'll save the most when you work with a designer if you do some things yourself. And big savings come when you buy sales and off-season items. Also, think small when it comes to paint. Accents here and there can make all the difference."

Vikki Robertson, the client, had a small budget. However, the single mother with two daughters wanted BIG impact. The designers of Design Scheme Interiors delivered!

The two-person team from Design Scheme Interiors (http://www. designschemeinteriors. com/index. html) painted the formerly-white walls with warm vibrant colors and shopped the discount stores for accent pieces to give the four rooms on the first floor a new look.

They transformed the kitchen for $2,000 with granite countertops and a new stove. A new table and chairs for the eating nook cost $800.

For $2,000, the team redesigned the family room with a red accent wall and yellow base colors.
Paint, sheer silk draperies and new accent pillows for the sofa came in just under $500 for the living room.

Homeowner Robertson's reaction: "I love it! I love it!'
