ZoomInfo InSite Report Analyzes Gender in the Executive Suite
Based on deep data on 36 million people and 3.8 million companies, ZoomInfo's InSite report maps the "glass ceiling" across 13 industries.
Waltham, MA (PRWEB) June 11, 2007
ZoomInfo™ (http://www. zoominfo. com), a business information search engine that indexes the Business Web to quickly find information about industries, companies, people and jobs, today released its inaugural ZoomInfo InSite Report, "Gender in the Executive Suite." (http://www. zoominfo. com/insite) This ZoomInfo InSite Report provides a quantitative view of gender roles in business leadership positions across multiple industries. The full ZoomInfo InSite report is available online and as a download at http://www. zoominfo. com/insite (http://www. zoominfo. com/insite).
"We were looking for a way to demonstrate how deep ZoomInfo's data is on business people, and quickly realized we could promote an important issue at the same time," said Bryan Burdick, COO of ZoomInfo. "After reviewing the data and comparing the various industries, the 'glass ceiling' is clearly still prevalent. For example, we found that women represented less than 10% of the CEOs in 10 of the 13 industries we analyzed. There is good news for women in industries like healthcare, nonprofit and legal. For instance, one out of every 10 women in the legal industry is a partner; 34% of all c-level titles in the nonprofit industry are held by women; and in healthcare, we found that almost a quarter of the c-level titles were held by women."
Prior to releasing the InSite Report (http://www. zoominfo. com/insite), ZoomInfo provided a copy to the Women Business Leaders of the U. S. Health Care Industry Foundation (WBL Foundation). According to Lynn Shapiro Snyder, Esq., founder and president of the WBL Foundation, "The breakthrough ZoomInfo InSite Report supports WBL's premise: women have been advancing to the c-suite level in the health care industry at a pace exceeding other industry sectors. The implications are enormous for corporate governance across all industries. This means that there is no shortage of supply for c-suite level women candidates for today's board rooms. The nominating committees and board search firms need only look to health care."
ZoomInfo analyzed the gender balance of CEOs across 13 industries: aerospace, automotive, construction, finance, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, non-profit organizations, pharmaceutical, real estate, semiconductor and software, as well as partners in the law firms and legal services industry. According to the ZoomInfo InSite Report, within the industries analyzed, the semiconductor industry has the lowest representation of women in the corner office with only 3% of all CEOs being female. Conversely, the non-profit, healthcare and legal industries have the highest percentage of female top execs.
This first ZoomInfo InSite Report (http://www. zoominfo. com/insite) provides additional data on leadership positions in the "Scorecard" sections on the construction, healthcare and semiconductor industries (chosen randomly). Of these three industries, healthcare had the highest female representation across executive positions, with women holding more than 20% of the CEO, president and founder titles. In the construction industry, women account for 7% of CEOs, 10% of presidents and 12% of founders. In the semiconductor industry, women hold less than 6% of each of those titles.
