ARLINGTON, Texas (November 6, 2000) — AMERIGROUP Corporation and its Texas health care subsidiary, AMERICAID Texas, Inc., announced today that Gail Silverstein has been named president and chief operating officer of its Metroplex operations.

“Gail’s in-depth knowledge of health care and her extensive operational experience will play an integral role as we continue to develop initiatives that help improve the health status of our members,” said James Donovan, CEO of AMERICAID Texas, Inc. “Arizona is one of the leading states in terms of innovative Medicaid program practices and we expect Gail will help us move Texas’ program forward.”

Silverstein is responsible for the fiscal and operational management of the health plan. She oversees the daily activities of the medical delivery system, provider partnerships, provider relations, sales and marketing functions, system support and financial adherence with state and corporate policies, procedures and laws.

She brings to AMERIGROUP more than 21 years of experience in the health care industry. Most recently, she was the senior consultant for Fox Systems in Scottsdale, Ariz. In this role, she was responsible for developing a general health care consulting practice. Previously, she served as vice president, health plans for Maricopa Integrated Health Systems in Phoenix, Ariz.

A former resident of Phoenix, she earned her doctorate in public administration from Arizona State University in 1993.
