St AndrewÂs hair dresser, Gemma Slade, a member of the Charlie Taylor Hair Health & Beauty Team, was polishing her scissors last week after giving Tiger Woods, winner of the 134th Open Championships, a taylored trim.
Following TigerÂs successful first round on the Thursday, the St Andrews salon received a call to cut the hair of the worldÂs greatest golfer at the Old Course Hotel.
Gemma, who will turn 21 next week, grew up in St Andrews and is a former pupil of the nearby Madras College. Despite her traditional Scottish upbringing, she is no stranger to fame.
Her St AndrewÂs hair dressing career has not only taken her around the world, as part of the Charlie Taylor artistic team, but has also seen her styling the royal locks of former St Andrews University student, Prince William.
Gemma commented, ÂIt was such a great honour to cut TigerÂs hair in the week he won the Open Championship. IÂd love to say that we had a great conversation but Tiger was avidly watching every move his competitors were making on the television in the front room! Who can blame him?Â
ÂThis has been a very strange year for me. I never thought I would have had the opportunity to be a stylist to both the Royal and not quite so Ancient! she concluded.
