A new Snowshoe Paradise in the Tahoe National Forest, Shinneyboo Creek Cabin Resort is of unsung local historic interest, with evidence of abandoned mining towns and the vague remnants of old wagon trail ruts from the late 1800Âs found nearby. Shinneyboo Creek Cabin Resort is located near the historic site of Cisco, a once prosperous town in the 1860s during the building of the Transcontinental Railroad through the infamous Donner Summit. Photographs taken of the area in 1866, found in the Library of Congress, grace the cabin walls and help tell the story of the times.
Experience the clean comfort of these newly built classic mountain cabins that sit in a village cluster in the woods on 160 acres near the base of Old Man Mountain where Shinneyboo Creek and South Yuba River meet. Surrounded on three sides by Tahoe National Forest, each cabin features cozy linens, a queen bed, a cast iron gas stove, whirlpool tub, loft and private porch. A small convenience kitchen with fridge, microwave & coffeemaker are available.
A continental breakfast of fresh baked goods, seasonal fruit, juice, tea and fresh ground coffee is provided to your door each morning by local Truckee Innkeepers, Michael & Chris Rogers. See the look of pure wonder & delight on your childÂs face, when they discover snow play areas are right outside your door for the kids. At night tell stories around the flicker of firelight, play games, sip hot chocolate and enjoy the peaceful retreat of the mountains. Take a leisurely nature snowshoe walk to the Pierce Creek Wetland Trail and the Yuba River or explore the backcountry of the high Sierra on the Pacific Crest Trail. World class skiing is just up the road on Donner Summit at Sugar Bowl, Boreal, Soda Springs & Royal Gorge. Clear blue skies, abundant snow and starry nights await the adventuresome. Stay awhile at Shinneyboo Creek Cabin Resort, enjoy a romantic mountain experience in your own private & intimate "cabin in the woods".
Shinneyboo Creek Cabin Resort owner/builder/creator, Michael Rogers, long time High Sierra enthusiast & local history detective also has new stories to tell, unique to the endless passage of emigrants through this difficult route over these incredible Sierra Mountains.
