Bone Marrow Match Saves a Life
Tali Zeevi Trager has leukemia and a bone marrow donor has been found for her. As hard as she is fighting for her own life, she is fighting to save others by promoting bone marrow donor drives, this one is at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Nov. 11.
West Hartford, CT (PRWEB) November 5, 2005
Tali Zeevi Trager’s search for a suitable bone marrow donor is over. An unrelated donor has been found. Scared but excited, Tali starts transplant treatment on November 18th in Boston. Before she leaves, Tali will spread her fight for life to as many around her as possible by promoting Yale-New Haven Hospital’s bone marrow donor drive on Nov. 11, 2005.
This courageous young bride, who discovered her leukemia had returned weeks before her wedding, is blessed by the love and support of family and friends. They found ways to raise enough money for donor testing and awareness of donor need to move Tali a step closer to the long, happy life she deserves.
Donor testing is not free typically. Many candidates need to be screened to find that certain one. Because tissue type is hereditary, the best candidates are of the same race and ethnicity of the recipient. It makes screening numbers even larger and personal search campaigns fatally out of reach for some people, people Tali has met at her clinic.
That is why it is so important to get the word out about a free bone marrow donor drive sponsored by Yale-New Haven Hospital on Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, from 11 a. m. to 6 p. m.
In association with WFSB Eyewitness News Channel 13 and the National Marrow Donor Program – New England (NMDP-NE), this second annual bone marrow donor drive will take place at two locations, Yale New Haven Hospital, 20 York St, New Haven, CT in the East Pavillion Cafeteria and the Buckland Hills Mall, Manchester, CT.
Tali is but one of the 35,000 children and adults in need of bone marrow transplants annually. The procedure for the donor is simple and the outcome is invaluable.
