Halogen Software Inc., the leading provider of Web-based employee performance management (EPM) software today announced that L-3 Interstate Electronics has selected Halogen eAppraisal. L-3 Interstate Electronics, an industry leader in GPS receiver and translator-based products for aircraft, missiles and precision-guided weapons, selected Halogen following a review of available EPM solutions. Halogen eAppraisal was selected to improve L-3 Interstate Electronics’ existing paper-based employee appraisal system, streamline processes for all involved and provide managers at all levels with greater visibility into the day-to-day execution of corporate strategy.
For the L-3 Interstate Electronics team, Halogen eAppraisal offered a number of key features including the solutions’ flexibility, ability to provide management at all levels with a snapshot view via a dashboard, and the solution’s workflow features. All of these features combine to make employee appraisals easier and more effective for all those involved.
“Halogen eAppraisal ensures commonality and consistency across all employee reviews,” said Alicia VanBlair, human resources manager with L-3 Interstate Electronics. “In the past, people customized attachments that were added to the original appraisals, resulting in inconsistencies where employees with similar job functions were being held to different standards. Due to inconsistencies resulting from the paper-based EPM system both managers and employees lacked faith in the system and were not invested in the process. The employee tended to write 85 percent of the actual appraisal with minimal input from their manager. When the new Vice President of human resources began with L-3 Interstate Electronics in October 2005 he recognized that time and effort was being wasted and made it a priority to rebuild the process around a new Web-based, automated EPM system.
“The new EPM system will create fairness and equity across the board, with a standard of uniformity regardless of the position or manager,” said VanBlair. “Employees know that managers are putting more energy into reviews, which positively impacts overall morale and performance. Now they know managers and the executive team see what individual employees are contributing to the company on a day-to-day basis.”
