Annual ICA Midwest Reunion Celebrates International Adoption

Annual ICA Midwest Reunion Celebrates International Adoption

International adoption continues to unite loving American families with beautiful, healthy children despite ever changing regulations imposed by foreign governments. One of the most respected global adoption agencies in the U. S., International Children's Alliance, hosts an annual reunion in suburban Chicago attracting families from across the Midwest that have experienced the international adoption miracle through ICA. The upcoming 11th annual "ICA Picnic" in Orland Park provides prospective adoptive couples an opportunity to meet the children and their parents in a casual, family friendly environment.

Orland Park, Ill. (PRWEB) June 2, 2008

International Children's Alliance celebrates a decade of successful adoptive unions between U. S. parents and children from across the globe during its 11th Annual Family Reunion in the Chicago area on Saturday, June 7.

The event at the south suburban Orland Park Civic Center brings together families who have worked through ICA over the past 10 or more years to identify and legally adopt children from Albania, Bulgaria, China, Guatemala, Russia, Ukraine and Vietnam.

Organizers expect approximately 65 families from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin to attend with their children, who range in ages from infants to pre-teens.

In the past six months alone, nine families from Illinois and Indiana have returned from trips abroad with a total of 12 children from Albania (1), Russia (5), China (2), Vietnam (1) and Guatemala (3).

Highlighting this year's reunion will be a presentation by Prairie Winds Council Girl Scout Troop 255 of Hinsdale to ICA founder Deborah McFadden, who travels the world on behalf of ICA and adoptive parents to locate credible orphanages. McFadden has attended every ICA Midwest reunion since its inception.

The Girl Scout troop created special blankets that will be presented to McFadden on Saturday for distribution to orphanages in Russia later this year. The troop is comprised of 10 elementary school students from Madison School in Hinsdale, Ill.

The reunion has two principle objectives: To maintain a connection between ICA adoptive families throughout the Midwest, and to provide a setting where couples who are contemplating adoption can meet parents and their adopted children in a casual, family oriented setting.

Year after year, the reunion reinforces among couples considering adoption that adoption is but a temporary process, soon replaced by the thrills and challenges faced by all who enter into parenthood.
