Dystrick Creates New Name and Brand for Avista

Dystrick Creates New Name and Brand for Avista

Dystrick creates new name and brand identity, which includes collateral material and e-commerce website for Avista as the brand moves to make audio visual equipment rental easy and affordable.

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) May 20, 2006

dystrick design, Inc., a creative design and communications agency, was appointed by Avista to develop and deploy a new corporate name, brand identity and marketing platform. Avista is a professional, affordable, and friendly high-end audio visual equipment rental company serving the San Francisco Bay Area, with plans for expansion to other metro areas.

Doug Watson, Avista CEO, chose dystrick to meet its challenging branding requirements. As he notes, “We wanted a ‘national brand’ look and feel as we expand to other metropolitan markets, but didn’t want the big, generic design sense we thought saddled many large national corporations. We wanted to deliver consistent branding across our company, from our website, delivery fleet, marketing literature, our business cards and even our email, so we needed our logo and overall design aesthetic to communicate well across all these applications. Watson notes, “dystrick did an excellent job at the front-end in helping us to quickly identify our multiple, sometimes conflicting needs: we wanted to be consumer friendly with an easily navigable website, but at the same time had to deliver a lot of technical information and appeal to corporate customers and event professionals.”

Avista was equally impressed with dystrick’s process following development of the brand strategy. As Doug Watson notes, “Once we identified these objectives, dystrick exceeded our expectations, delivering numerous, highly professional design ideas and becoming an integral partner to Avista. What most impressed us about dystrick was the depth of their bench, their ability to provide excellent graphic designers, website and flash design professionals, and even animators to the project. And they always made us feel like their most important client, even though we’re a small business.”

The Deliverables:

Naming Conventions. dystrick created the evocative name Avista for this new stand-alone brand. In an industry populated with descriptive names, Avista stands out from the rest. Designed to be memorable and easy to pronounce, the name is also descriptive on various subtle levels and originates from the root of AV (Audio Video) and the word Vista, which is consistent throughout several world languages.

Logo and identity development. The identity, both visually appealing and consumer friendly, was designed to represent Avista’s commitment to support all levels of clientele, from corporate speakers to the average Joe who needs a projector for a family function. The new identity also helps to create a strong visual system when used online or in print, signage and stationery. The client immediately embraced the new identity, not only because it represented their commitment to excellence, but because it would symbolically challenge them to always deliver on that promise. This successful partnership between dystrick and Avista continues to create an inspiring, dynamic brand.

Research and design of all visual aspects and elements of the Website look and feel. Organization and architecture of the website, including the site map and information hierarchy, were the foundation of the entire online aspect of the Avista brand. dystrick was responsible for execution of illustration, photography integration, and graphic and flash design, as well as the coordination between programmers, artists, and information architects. Phases included:

O Home page flash header advertisement.

O Home page layout for a better, easier, faster understanding of Avista Rentals services and solutions combined with intuitive and quick logic navigation.

O Information architecture and navigation development.

O Designing and structuring of the interior pages (layout, graphics and add intuitive navigation to proliferate “key areas”). Creation and placement of strategic messaging so that it reaches and conveys a stronger message to the target audience.

Dystrick completed the brand package by addressing all the customer touch-points and making sure the Avista brand was consistent throughout. Employee polo shirts and a custom delivery van wrap make dealing with Avista a fun, easy, and productive experience from beginning to end.
