Toomey continues to excel in the world Olympic movement and is an active author, speaker and broadcast personality. He co-hosts the weekly radio show "The Jock and The Doc" with Dr. Diana Schwarzbein.
Many of Toomey's Olympic and World Records in the decathlon and pentathlon stand unbroken more than 30 years later. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the United States Sports Academy in 2000, the Sullivan Award in 1969, and was inducted into the USA Track & Field Hall of Fame in 1975.
