Illinois (PRWEB) March 15, 2005

Teamsters Local 714 Chicago launches Web Site (www. teamsters714.org) and Internet campaigns to compliment aggressive organizing efforts in 2005. The Internet is increasingly used by Americans to find work, purchase goods, and find information.

“We are aggressively organizing in 2005. We plan on using our Web Site and the Internet to compliment our organizing efforts by providing key information in a timely manner to employees who feel they need union representation” said, Robert Riley, Director of Organizing for the local.

According to Pew Internet Research in August 2004, 88% of online Americans say the Internet plays a role in their daily routines and over 12.6 million US Hispanics are using the Web as well, according to Neilson Net Ratings. Neilson also previously reported that households headed by blue collar workers were one of the fastest growing sectors of Internet growth.

Robert Hogan, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 714 states, “We understand that times have changed. Our goal at Local 714 in the Chicago area is to secure the future of area employees. We also understand that the Internet provides us a means of communicating with the community and our membership.”

“The ability of Local 714 to efficiently communicate the benefits that the Teamsters offer to local area employees and the community at large is one of the key components for success and since Internet usage by their constituents is steadily climbing, it only makes sense that they take advantage of this tool.” says Franklin Frith (www. frith. cc), Consultant and Web Developer for Local 714.
