The RSV webcast, UPDATED: Current Strategies in the Prevention and Management of RSV, will explore the clinical presentation of RSV infection in premature and high-risk infants, identify the risk factors for acquiring severe RSV, including prevention and prophylaxis, and will provide an update on new developments. "By age 2, more than 90% of children become infected with RSV, resulting in mild 'colds' in most, but causing 3% to 4% to be hospitalized. The influenza webcast, NEW! ACIP Guidelines on Seasonal Influenza Vaccinations for Pediatric Patients, will describe the strategies for influenza prevention, identify the current vaccination recommendations as described by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), identify risk factors for influenza complications, and will review benefits and drawbacks of live and killed vaccines and the appropriate use of antiviral drugs. "With the change in the ACIP guidelines this year, these webcasts will serve to educate practitioners on the newest immunization schedules to take effect during the 2008-2009 influenza season," said Robert B.
